IBM Power Systems have seen the largest shift in customer spending share in UNIX history, with IBM gaining market share over HP and Sun. New technologies like POWER5 Micro-Partitioning, POWER6 Live Partition Mobility, and POWER4 Dynamic LPARs have allowed customers to move to higher value workloads on Power Systems. Based on data from IDC, IBM has increased its UNIX server revenue share over the past decade while HP and Sun have lost share.
