 GRIEF is the natural

4. The Story – part 1
• Lazarus was ill (vv.1-2)
• Jesus was called, but delayed (vv.3-6)
• Lazarus died (vv.11-15)
– In this painful episode, Jesus had a greater
purpose.
– The disciples, the family and the neighbors
did not know or understand His purpose.

• Lazarus had been dead a long time (v.17)
• Jesus met Martha (vv.20-27)
• Jesus met Mary (vv.29-32)
• Jesus wept with them (vv.33-37)
– In this painful episode, each griever had to
process the information individually.
– Jesus was there with them through it all.
