I BELIEVE: A Philosophy by Scott Huxtable
 that people's lives depend on me doing my job right.
 in finding the most efficient way of completing the task in front of me. The more efficient I can be
the less overtime I must work.
 in the "Design for Manufacturing" philosophy.
 in the "KISS" philosophy.
 in the "Do it right the first time" philosophy.
 in honest deadlines and due dates.
 in reality.
 in following the requirements of the engineering, specifications, and company processes.
 that all written processes should be only as detailed as they must be to control the process.
 that all written processes should be a "living" document that evolves with technology.
 in treating everyone as an individually unique person, but I can be politically correct when
needed.
 that political correctness is generally somewhat less than 100% honest.
 in open and honest communication. This facilitates the above philosophy's.
 "tongue in cheek" is better than "foot in mouth".
 in being tactfully honest when I can, frankly honest when I must, and bluntly honest when I
absolutely have to.
 in being serious when appropriate, and having fun when I can.
 in conflict resolution by calm, rational, intellectual discussion of the relevant points, not
emotionally based arguing and yelling.
 in not hurting anyone's feeling if I can avoid it; but if I can't, be as gentle as possible...I have to
continue to work with the individual.
 humor can diffuse many tense situations, but knowing when it is appropriate takes experience.
 in the golden rule.
 in loyalty up and loyalty down. You get the best effort from everyone.
 in democracy, but business should run like a Monarchy not a democracy.
 everyone's opinions are valid, but facts are facts
 in the Chinese philosophy of "sting me once, shame on you. Sting me twice, shame on me".
 I don't have to know everything, I just have to know who to go to too get the answer I don't know.
 I should learn something every day.
 that music comes from the soul, creativity from the heart, reason from the brain.
 in trying to achieve balance in life that I am happy with.
 that if you are passionate about what you do, you will have less overall stress be happier.
 in accepting reality as it is and making what I can with it.
 I should listen to advice, but I have to make what I feel is the right decision.

 that being honest is less stressful than dishonesty.
 if I always make the "right" decision, I can sleep with a clear conscience.
 I have to do the best you can with what you have. Nobody is always perfect.

information to become available, by then it is typically too late.
 if a decision requires an adjustment on the fly, I must be willing to do so.
