The document experimentally investigates the augmentation of natural convection heat transfer with vibration effects using Al2O3 nanofluid. An experimental setup consisting of a cylindrical container inside a rectangular enclosure with a vertical brass heater is used. Al2O3 nanoparticles are mixed with water as the base fluid at various volume fractions and heat inputs are supplied. Temperature measurements are taken along the cylindrical surface axially with and without vibration at different frequencies ranging from 100-190Hz. Results show that the local heat transfer coefficient and Nusselt number increase with vibration, and natural convection heat transfer is enhanced most at 60W input power with nanofluid compared to water alone.

process. In this research finite element method has been applied to predict crack
initiation by mass effect during water agitation cooling. Cooling curve of specimens
was measured water quenching test and convective coefficients were calculated by
inverse method based on finite element method. Water quenching processes were
analyzed by Deform software and Jmatpro. Crack initiation has been predicted by
comparison of stress distribution and strength on the temperature basis

This document summarizes a numerical analysis of laminar forced convection in a channel with a V-corrugated upper plate heated by radiation. In this project, experimentation is done on Vapour Compression Refrigeration System
[VCRS] as the COP is high for this system and it is the present trend of the HVAC in the
domestic industry. This study presents investigation of best suited refrigerant and
insulation combination for gas pipeline and liquid pipeline of a split air conditioning
system. Analysis are performed for R22-Chlorodiflouromethane, a HydroChloroFlouro
Carbon refrigerant, which has been using in the present world that cause both global
warming and ozone layer depletion and R410a, mixture of di-flouromethane and
pentaflouroethane, a Hydroflouro carbon refrigerant, which is future of HVAC which
reduces the effect of ozone layer depletion [ODP] and Global Warming Potential
[GWP].For these two refrigerants, we had found out the best insulation suitable as
insulation also affects the COP of air conditioner, which has been observed from the
literature. Minimizing the temperature of refrigerant in suction line helps condensing unit
work more effectively intern the system performance increases. This reduces the overall
power required for working of air conditioner, thereby reducing the maintenance cost of
system. Also, it helps the manufacturer to provide best type of insulation for the system at
reduced cost thereby reducing overall cost of VCRS.To perform the experimental
comparison, 16 tests were carried out for 5 times with each refrigerant Insulation
combination. From analysis it is observed that, COPA for NRF+AF gives highest value
for R22 and R410awhen compared to various insulation materials. Power required for
VCRS is greater while using R410a than R22. So In this work the main energy parameters
such as COP and work required for compressor are analysed and discussed.
Analysis of calorimetric measurement bismuth and tin system
Lead-free soldering alloys with low melting point suitable for use in soldering joints are very essential. Use of lead as a solder is considered dangerous for the environment due to the huge number of printed circuit board and electronic devices, pipe joints etc. needed to be recycled from dumps.
In this work the metallic samples were prepared from Bi in the mass range from 0.75gm. Samples of Sn were dropped into the bath of pure Bi by using an automatic dropping device. System required 40min time interval after every sample of dropped. Calorimetric measurements was done at temperature 830K. The Integral and partial enthalpy of mixing was calculated at this temperatures. The Integral enthalpy of mixing in Bi- Sn system at 830K is endothermic in nature throughout the composition and its maximum value at Xsn = 0.6, is 1005.9061 respectively.
Post processing of SLM Ti-6Al-4V Alloy in accordance with AMS 4928 standards
This Research work was done to find out the impact of AMS 4928 standard heat treatment on
Selective Laser Melted (SLM) Ti-6Al-4V Grade 23 alloy. Ti-6Al-4V Grade 23 is an Extra Low Interstitial
version of Ti alloy with lower impurities and is α+β type alloy at room temperature. SLM is one type of method
in Additive Manufacturing based on Powder bed system. Each powder layer of few microns is coated and a laser
beam is scanned to melt the metal powder according to the specification of the part and subsequently moved
downwards layer by layer. The test coupons were first heat treated according to the above mentioned standard.
The tensile testing and the microstructural analysis were done to compare the results with that of mentioned in
the AMS 4928.The yield stress andPercentage elongation in the test coupons achieved are better than the
minimum requirement by AMS 4928 standard. Coarse lamellar grain structures were obtained with no
continuous network of alpha at prior beta grain boundaries.
Virtual Prototyping of Induction Heat Treating
Virtual prototyping of induction heat treating was used to solve a problem of short coil lifetime on a production machine. Through computer modeling and simulation, a new coil design was developed and tested that increased coil life to over 170,000 hits. This study experimentally investigated the heat transfer characteristics and exergy of a 50/50 blend of R744/R1270 flowing in a smooth horizontal tube. Tests were conducted with inlet temperatures ranging from -4°C to 8°C. Results show that inner wall temperature, heat transfer coefficient, Nusselt number, and exergy decreased along the length of the tube. Higher inlet temperatures resulted in higher inner wall temperatures, heat transfer coefficients, and Nusselt numbers, but lower exergy. In induction hardening, thermal fatigue is one of the main failure modes of induction heating coils. There have been papers published that describe this failure mode and others that describe some good design practices [1-3]. The variables previously identified as the sources of thermal fatigue include radiation from the part surface, frequency, current, concentrator losses, water pressure and coil wall thickness. However, there is very little quantitative data on the factors that influence thermal fatigue in induction coils available in the public domain. By using finite element analysis software this study analyzes the effect of common design variables of inductor cooling, and quantifies the relative importance of these variables. Heat transfer characteristics and exergy study of r744 r1270 in a smooth hor
This study experimentally investigated the heat transfer characteristics and exergy of a 50/50 blend of R744/R1270 flowing in a smooth horizontal tube. Tests were conducted with inlet temperatures ranging from -4°C to 8°C. Results show that inner wall temperature, heat transfer coefficient, Nusselt number, and exergy decreased along the length of the tube. Higher inlet temperatures resulted in higher inner wall temperatures, heat transfer coefficients, and Nusselt numbers, but lower exergy. The blend behaved differently at an inlet temperature of 4°C compared to other temperatures tested.

In induction hardening, thermal fatigue is one of the main failure modes of induction heating coils. There have been papers published that describe this failure mode and others that describe some good design practices [1-3]. The variables previously identified as the sources of thermal fatigue include radiation from the part surface, frequency, current, concentrator losses, water pressure and coil wall thickness. However, there is very little quantitative data on the factors that influence thermal fatigue in induction coils available in the public domain. By using finite element analysis software this study analyzes the effect of common design variables of inductor cooling, and quantifies the relative importance of these variables. A comprehensive case study for a single shot induction coil with Fluxtrol A concentrator applied is used for the analysis.
