Additional tips The purpose of the final assignment is for yo.docxdaniahendric
Additional tips:
The purpose of the final assignment is for you to analyze an existing policy (at the federal, state, or local level) and discuss its impact on a social problem. You aren’t proposing a policy, but analyzing an existing policy of interest to you.
Be sure to take enough time reading about the policy you selected to thoroughly understand it in an in-depth way and be able to confidently answer the questions in the assignment.
Please take time to carefully read each question in the assignment and be sure to answer it. As you proof-read your paper, take the opportunity to again review the assignment and double check that you have thoroughly but succinctly provided the information for each applicable question.
Please make sure you are using APA style in your final paper, including the title page with name and dates.
The assignment is 8 – 10 pages long because that’s roughly the length of a comprehensive social policy analysis. Please try to refrain from adding more words than necessary to stretch the length.
Proof-reading more than once is a great idea to try to catch sentences that aren’t sentences and words that are inadvertently misused. Read it out loud. I understand that the U of MD’s writing lab is available to help those interested in strengthening their writing skills – don’t hesitate to take advantage of it!
My expectation is that direct quotes be kept to a minimum in that graduate-level writing involves synthesizing ideas and then presenting them in your OWN words. For those quotes you do use, please be sure to use the correct citation and quotation marks. Not doing so may be considered plagiarism and will be responded to accordingly.
Assignment 2: Policy Analysis. DUE: 11/28
For this assignment, you will examine a social policy at the local, state or federal level by the legislative, executive, or judicial branch of government. The policy may be addressing a social issue that directly or indirectly affects the clients served by your field placement, agency of employment, your community, or who you plan to work with after graduation. Drawing from class materials and external sources, write an 8-10 page policy analysis (double-spaced, 12 point font, with 1” margins). Your paper should address the following:
Describe the social issue and identify the population-at-risk. Summarize existing research on this social issue.
What is the historical context of the policy? How did the social issue come to the attention of policymakers? Who were/are the key actors who made the issue “legitimate” and mobilized support for or against the policy? Were there previous policy attempts to address this issue?
Describe the social policy, answering the following questions:
What kinds of benefits are offered?
What are the bases of social allocation? (who is eligible)
How are the benefits to be delivered?
How are the benefits financed?
What is the purpose/goal of the social policy? What assumptions about problem ...

Discussion: Policies and Social Problems
Why is it important for social workers to understand policy? When you think of policies, you may tend to think of the federal policies that support services such as Medicare and state policies that support education and welfare services. However, sometimes the policies that have the greatest impact on clients are the policies of agencies and organizations.
Note
: An "agency or organizational policy" is a policy. For example, it might be part of a county welfare agency that requires an administrator at a juvenile correction facility to report any individual that is an illegal immigrant that comes to that facility.
In this Discussion, you will identify a policy at an agency or organization with which you are familiar. It can be a public agency, a for-profit human service provider, or a not-for-profit community agency. Describe the organization, the policy, and the social problem it addresses.

Knot theoryDid you tie your shoe laces the same way today .docxcroysierkathey
Knot theory
Did you tie your shoe laces the same way today as yesterday? We are all
familiar with knots from everyday life. But when does a mathematician
consider two knots to be the same? To capture the mathematical, rather
than physical, features of a knot, we glue the ends together to form a circular
loop, and then treat the string as infinitely strong, thin, and stretchy. The
downside of doing so is that it is not immediately clear how to distinguish
two knots, as there are infinitely many configurations for the same knot.
For this project you should find out about how knots are represented, and
about some of the invariants used to tell them apart. Some possible areas of
investigation include:
• tricolourability.
• genus.
• the Jones polynomial.
You should include plenty of your own examples to illustrate your under-
standing.
Prerequisites
No particular background knowledge is needed, but you will need to be able
to interpret a 2D diagram as a 3D object in space and visualise it moving
over time.

DQ-1
This week’s first discussion forum will focus on the population of abused individuals. Abuse is a pervasive problem in our society. Although the forms of abuse, as well as the intensity and duration can vary from case to case, each abused person is tasked with dealing with the scars left from the abuse. As you can imagine, this task can be very challenging to say the least. Using research to help you form an opinion, which form of capital (social or human capital) do you feel will have a greater influence over resources accessible to the abused? Discuss which form of capital you would rely on for emotional support and help through difficult times if abused. Explain your rationale.

chronically ill and the disabled.
You may be familiar with the common quote “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” In reality, however, you may know of a person, family, or group who is not receiving adequate preventive or medical care due to a lack of resources and funds.
· Choose one specific chronic illness or disability of your choice.
· Select two resources in your community that address issues related to the chronic illness/disability and describe the services offered.
· Select two national resources that address issues related to the chronic illness/disability and describe the services offered.
· Analyze whether or not the continuum of care services are adequate for the population with the chosen chronic illness/disability. Explain why or why not.
Your initial contribution should be 250 to 300 words in length. Your research and claims must be supported by a minimum of two scholarly sources beyond your course text. Use proper APA formatting for in-text citations and references.
DQ-3
Our health, or the absence of such, can be very expensive. Many vulnerable populations simply do not have private funds available to pay for their care. Relating your research to individuals with mental conditions, select a mental illness of your choice and discuss your response to the following questions:
· What public financing resources are available to individuals with this particular mental condition?
· What are the eligibility requirements and restrictions to receive these funds?
· What happens if eligibility standards/requirements are not met by those with this illness?
· Research and discuss two methods of alternative funding for care for this group. What are the benefits and limitations of the methods you discussed?
Your initial contribution should be 250 to 300 words in length. Your research and claims must be supported by a minimum of two scholarly sources beyond your course text.
DQ-4
Suicide and homicide are violent actions reported in the news daily. Individuals suffering from abuse, depression, mental disorders, or substance-abuse disorders are at an increased risk for committing suicide or homicide. Factors that contribute to the risk are age, gender, socio-economic stat.

No particular background knowledge is needed, but you will need to be able
to interpret a 2D diagram as a 3D object in space and visualise it moving
over time.
Literature
• Colin Adams, The Knot Book
• Peter Cromwell, Knots and Links

This week’s first discussion forum will focus on the population of abused individuals. Abuse is a pervasive problem in our society. Although the forms of abuse, as well as the intensity and duration can vary from case to case, each abused person is tasked with dealing with the scars left from the abuse. As you can imagine, this task can be very challenging to say the least. Using research to help you form an opinion, which form of capital (social or human capital) do you feel will have a greater influence over resources accessible to the abused? Discuss which form of capital you would rely on for emotional support and help through difficult times if abused. Explain your rationale.

Assignment 3 Defining Social Justice Social justice has been .docxursabrooks36447
Assignment 3: Defining Social Justice
Social justice has been defined in different ways, but the definitions usually include similar ideologies. As you study the concept of social justice, you will come across some of the following ideas:
•Historical inequities that affect current injustices should be corrected until the actual inequities no longer exist or have been perceptively "negated.”
•Wealth, power, and status should be redistributed for the good of the individual, the community, and the society.
•It is the responsibility of the government (or those who hold significant power) to ensure a basic quality of life for all its citizens.
From country to country social justice is defined in different ways, and the definitions usually include ideologies as well as differences. Research the definition of social justice in the United States using your textbook, the Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet. Select another country to examine its definition of social justice in order to analyze the ideologies and similarities using the following steps:
1.Analyze the ideologies.
2.Identify the similarities.
3.Using your reasoning skills, give supporting statements or arguments that support your position(s) about the social justice.
Your comparing and contrasting must consider the following:
•Historical values and ideologies of the country
•Economic structure of the country
•Discrimination issues, if any exist
Develop a 2–3-page analysis of the definitions of social justice in the U.S. and a country of your choice. Analyze the ideologies, identify their similarities, and explain how these factors support your statements or arguments about the social justice you've selected. Support your explanations with a minimum of two scholarly sources in addition to the course text and apply APA standards to citation of sources.
Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M1_A3_Defining_Social_Justice.doc. For example, if your name is John Smith, your document will be named SmithJ_M1_A3_Defining_Social_justice.doc.

Assignment InformationBefore beginning political advocacy, one m.docxrosemariebrayshaw
Assignment Information
Before beginning political advocacy, one must identify a problem that needs to be addressed through health care policy. Sometimes, political advocacy is needed when established health care policies are not adequate for solving a problem, or when the legislation creates new problems. This assignment is the first in a three-part project.
The purpose of this three-part project is to guide you through the process of selecting a problem, identifying evidence-based solutions, and designing a political advocacy plan to address the problem with those solutions.
In this first assignment, you will select a consumer challenge related to equity, access, affordability, and/or social justice in health care, and you will analyze how existing policies address this challenge. Completion of this assignment will demonstrate your achievement of the following course outcome:

Assignment 1 LASA 2 Analyzing a Social PolicyIn this course, you.docxdaniatrappit
Assignment 1: LASA 2: Analyzing a Social Policy
In this course, you have learned that social policies are formulated to solve social problems considered important by a mass of voters, media, and political actors. Social policy is but one solution to the problem—not necessarily the most rational, effective, or socially just. Social policies are human creations and, as such, can be changed. In this paper you will analyze a social policy as a tool for social justice.
Research one social welfare policy using your textbook, the Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet.
Analyze the policy and address the following:
The social problem addressed by the policy
What is/are the problem/s to be solved in the most fundamental terms?
What is the history of the problem/s in the United States?
What are the various theories about the causes of the problem/s? Based on this, what do you think is/are the most important causes/s of the problem/s?
The policy objectives, value premises, expectation, and target populations
Policy objectives—overt and covert objectives: What are the stated objectives of the policy? In your judgment, what are the covert objectives of the policy?
What are the values underlying the policy objectives? What values are revealed by the overt and covert objectives?
What did the policymakers expect would be the result of the policy?
Target segments of the population at whom policy is aimed: Discuss the direct target of the policy in terms of size and other demographic characteristics. Who are the indirect targets of the policy?
Effects of the policy
Intended effects: What effects did the lawmakers intend?
Unintended effects: What effects did the lawmakers not foresee?
Distinguish between short-range (less than five years) and long-range (over five years) effects of the policy.
Implications of the Policy
Changes in the distribution of material resources: Are there any changes to the distribution of material resources, including income and other tangible benefits, as a result of the policy for direct or indirect target groups?
Changes in distribution of services, rights, and statuses: Are there any changes in services, rights, or statuses as a result of the policy?
Alternative Policies
What alternative policy/policies would more effectively address the social problem discussed in the policy analysis while advancing social justice?
Write a 4–6-page paper in Word format. Apply APA standards to citation of sources. Make sure to include research in addition to the textbook from credible, scholarly sources. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M5_A1.doc.

1. HUM 220 Module 1 Assignment 3 Defining Social Justice
For more course tutorials visit
www.newtonhelp.com
Social justice has been defined in different ways, but the definitions
usually include similar ideologies. As you study the concept of social
justice, you will come across some of the following ideas:
· Historical inequities that affect current injustices should be
corrected until the actual inequities no longer exist or have been
perceptively "negated.”
· Wealth, power, and status should be redistributed for the good
of the individual, the community, and the society.
· It is the responsibility of the government (or those who hold
significant power) to ensure a basic quality of life for all its citizens.
From country to country social justice is defined in different ways,
and the definitions usually include ideologies as well as differences.
Research the definition of social justice in the United States using
your textbook, the Argosy University online library resources, and the
Internet. Select another country to examine its definition of social
justice in order to analyze the ideologies and similarities using the
following steps:
1. Analyze the ideologies.
2. Identify the similarities.
2. 3. Using your reasoning skills, give supporting statements or
arguments that support your position(s) about the social justice.
Your comparing and contrasting must consider the following:
· Historical values and ideologies of the country
· Economic structure of the country
· Discrimination issues, if any exist
Develop a 2–3-page analysis of the definitions of social justice in the
U.S. and a country of your choice. Analyze the ideologies, identify
their similarities, and explain how these factors support your
statements or arguments about the social justice you've selected.
Support your explanations with a minimum of two scholarly sources
in addition to the course text and apply APA standards to citation of
sources.

and social policy. This assignment will prompt action from you to
help resolve a social issue. You must learn about a problem, find a
piece of legislation addressing your concern, and act to help solve the
problem.
Using the textbook, the Argosy University online library resources,
and the Internet, do the following:
1. Identify the Problem
Select and research a social issue based on the course readings or

Write an advocacy letter regarding the piece of legislation and your
support of or opposition to it.
The purpose of an advocacy letter is to support or oppose the
legislation that affects a social issue of concern to you. This letter is a
way for representatives to stay in touch with the constituents they
represent. The letter consists of a brief introduction identifying and
addressing the social issue of concern (through personal experience, if

HUM 220 Module 4 Assignment 2 Single-Payer
Healthcare
For more course tutorials visit
www.newtonhelp.com
7. The 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) was
implemented primarily to provide access to health insurance for those
who would not otherwise be insured. The ACA is not designed as a
single-payer healthcare system although some of its architects as well
as its detractors see the ACA as steering the United States toward one.
Research the single-payer approach to healthcare delivery using your
textbook, the University online library resources, and the Internet.
In a 3–4-page paper, address the following:
· Define a single-payer system and identify a country where it is
used.
· Using demonstrated research findings, describe the strengths
and weaknesses of a single-payer healthcare system.
· Based on your current situation in terms of healthcare coverage
(insured by an employer, covered under a parent’s or spouse’s policy,
receiving government benefits, uninsured, etc.), explain how a single-
payer plan would affect how you receive healthcare. Do you favor a
single-payer approach? Why, or why not?
· If you were to design a single-payer system, explain how you
would address the challenges.
Write a 3–4-page paper in Word format. Apply APA standards to
citation of sources. Use the following file naming convention:

8. HUM 220 Module 5 Assignment 1 LASA 2 Analyzing a
Social Policy
For more course tutorials visit
www.newtonhelp.com
In this course, you have learned that social policies are formulated to
solve social problems considered important by a mass of voters,
media, and political actors. Social policy is but one solution to the
problem—not necessarily the most rational, effective, or socially just.
Social policies are human creations and, as such, can be changed. In
this paper you will analyze a social policy as a tool for social justice.
Research one social welfare policy using your textbook, the
University online library resources, and the Internet.
Analyze the policy and address the following:
The social problem addressed by the policy
1. What is/are the problem/s to be solved in the most fundamental
terms?
2. What is the history of the problem/s in the United States?
3. What are the various theories about the causes of the problem/s?
Based on this, what do you think is/are the most important causes/s of
the problem/s?
The policy objectives, value premises, expectation, and target
populations
9. 1. Policy objectives—overt and covert objectives: What are the
stated objectives of the policy? In your judgment, what are the covert
objectives of the policy?
2. What are the values underlying the policy objectives? What
values are revealed by the overt and covert objectives?
3. What did the policymakers expect would be the result of the
policy?
4. Target segments of the population at whom policy is aimed:
Discuss the direct target of the policy in terms of size and other
demographic characteristics. Who are the indirect targets of the
policy?
Effects of the policy
1. Intended effects: What effects did the lawmakers intend?
2. Unintended effects: What effects did the lawmakers not foresee?
3. Distinguish between short-range (less than five years) and long-
range (over five years) effects of the policy.
Implications of the Policy
1. Changes in the distribution of material resources: Are there any
changes to the distribution of material resources, including income
and other tangible benefits, as a result of the policy for direct or
indirect target groups?
2. Changes in distribution of services, rights, and statuses: Are
there any changes in services, rights, or statuses as a result of the
policy?
Alternative Policies
10. 1. What alternative policy/policies would more effectively address
the social problem discussed in the policy analysis while advancing
social justice?
Write a 4–6-page paper in Word format. Apply APA standards to
citation of sources. Make sure to include research in addition to the
textbook from credible, scholarly sources. Use the following file
naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M5_A1.doc.
