Hukvaldy Castle is located in the village of Hukvaldy in the Czech Republic. The exact date of the castle's origin is unknown, but it was first mentioned around 1250 AD when its builder, Frank Hückeswagen, lost his position at another castle and was forced to build Hukvaldy Castle. The castle has changed hands many times over the centuries. It was damaged during the Hussite Wars in the 15th century. Today only ruins remain. The scenic area around the castle is protected and home to wildlife. A nearby amphitheater hosts an annual music festival honoring composer Leoš Janáček who was inspired by the region.
