Welcome back to the Hues legacy, a color-themed joint legacy
between Haleigh/meadowthayer and me, Roxanne/Taube. When we
last left off, Sky and Lilly had five lovely red-named children plus Sky’s
alien daughter, Olive. We saw Scarlet and Ruby, the oldest two, live out
their adult lives on Haleigh’s computer, leaving the triplets (Carmine,
Red, and Rose) and Olive to be taken on by me.
Our potential heiresses are . . . oh dear, looks like they’re ready to fight
for it. Anyway, Olive and Rose here both have the rainbow eyes, but
only one can be heiress.
And that one is Rose, who likes to check herself out just as much
on my computer as she did on Haleigh’s. Despite Olive being a
lovely alien, we both liked Rose a little better and think she has the
better nose genes, which had been a problem in the past, no
thanks to me, lol.
The five youngest of the family all took turns calling or getting
on the computer for scholarships, then moving to college.
And here’s our three spares. Carmine,
in the top left, is a pleasure sim, and
Red, in the top right, and Olive are
both fortune sims.
And here’s Rose, our lovely heiress, a romance/family sim ready to break
some hearts and wearing her extremely combustible heart on her . . . er
. . . chest. Rose wants to be Captain Hero.
Rose and Olive waste no time
getting checked in, grabbing a dorm
room, and getting started on their
papers. I’ll only be playing them
through college, while the boys get
to go live life back in Desiderata.
Carmine grows up relatively stylishly and Red . . . doesn’t.
Stylish or not, they head back to the home neighborhood
to get started on their adult lives, which we’ll check in on
towards the end of the chapter.
Spouses are picked via the crystal ball in this legacy, and Rose finds
herself a tropical looker with whom she has three bolts of chemistry.
Olive also went ahead and found her future spouse.
Rose’s new guy is named Jim. I never
remember to write down the last
names, so he shall be “just” Jim until he
becomes Jim Hues. I think he may be a
fire dancer because his outfit looks
slightly different from the ones in the
catalog. I can’t confirm this, but I
thought I’d mention it. Jim has red hair
so if Rose has her father’s hair color
recessively, we could see some
redheads or blonds next generation.
Olive’s soon-to-be-boyfriend is
Valor, the local Mr. Big. He has an
annoying habit of primping
all.the.time. but is otherwise a
pretty okay guy.
Using their brothers’ scholarship money in addition to their own,
Rose and Olive renovated Neon’s old one-room college shack into a
nice little house built for two.
In tribute to Neon, the walls of the
main room are still pink, although a
slightly darker shade now. Rose and
Olive develop their everyday
routines, which, besides meals and
schoolwork, means daily smustling
(her first want when she wakes up)
for Olive, and long phone calls to Jim
for Rose.
Rose had a long hard day of studying and building skill in flower
arranging, and her meter had dipped a bit from a lack of interaction
while her stomach growled. She desperately wanted her first kiss,
but Jim, who she was finally friends with, had to be invited as a
houseguest and wouldn’t be there until the next day. And that, my
friends, is how she ended up having this super romantic first kiss
with some random fellow college student.
“Oh, a genie, great. Um, I wish for beauty? Does that even actually
do anything? I can’t tell . . .”
After a long night of waiting for her
so-far platonic friend Jim to arrive,
he finally shows up the next
morning, keeping a close eye out for
any appearance of the rare Rose-a-
too bird. When he could be
distracted from that, Rose pulled
him in for a long, deep kiss, and
crushes bloomed instantly.
Because of their great chemistry
and those long talks on the phone,
it didn’t take much for Rose and Jim
to fall in love. Jim is also a romance
sim, so falling in love was quickly
followed by other activities.
Jim quickly feels comfortable, I guess, because he opens up right
away about two things maybe better left quiet until after the third
date: first, he’s an absolute slob, and second, he has dumb hair.
Keep the headdress on, Jim!
“Jim, I know neither of us have ever felt like we’d be the settling
down types, but something just feels right about this moment – like
all my fears are temporarily absent. I know you feel it too. Let’s strike
while the iron is hot and get engaged. Jim, will you marry me?”
“Oh, Rose, of course I will! I feel so strangely happy about this I feel
like I could conjure a blue engagement ring above my head!”
“Me too, sweetie!”
While Rose and Jim are being expedient, Olive actually takes her
time with her courtship of Valor. Of course, they also have three
bolt chemistry so it doesn’t take them long to fall in love, though
they don’t hop into bed right away like Olive’s half-sister and her
beau did.
When the flirting is done and the papers need to be written, Valor
can go home, but Jim is sticking around for three days. Although
there’s other things to do in the house, he prefers following Rose
around, staring at her while she does schoolwork.
And then this happened. On the second day of Jim’s stay, Rose
accepted a flirt from the cow mascot right in front of Jim, and worse,
it happened in the tiny kitchen where it’s really hard to take a picture
of three different sims. Ahem. Actually worse is that now Jim has
fallen out of love with Rose and is furious with her and the cow
mascot.
Jim huffily went to bed in Rose’s bed that night, but I knew there was
no way they were ready to share a bed again, so Rose has to have a
sleepover in Olive’s room.
“So, honey, I was wondering if we could talk things over and . . . oh,
you’re still a little mad, I guess. I’ll, uh, show myself out.”
With some well-chosen socials and generous help from the
friendship glasses, Jim once again falls in love with Rose. They
even have time for one more woohoo before he travels home.
They may have parted on good terms,
but Jim is still furious. I would have
thought taking a plane to Desiderata
and back to the island once a day,
every day, just to steal newspapers or
kick over trashcans might be a bit
arduous, no matter how mad one is,
but apparently it’s not too much for
Jim, who is nursing quite a heavy bit
of resentment towards his fiancée.
After the third time of spraying for
roaches and no sign of abating
furiousness, I began to get a little
frustrated with Jim, so I let Rose give in
to her natural tendencies and cheat on
Jim. She didn’t really cheat on him in
the first place – it was the cow’s fault,
really – but if he was going to be a butt
about it, then by golly we’ll give him
something to be mad about.
All that sleeping around making friends naturally lands Rose in
the secret society before too long. It happened in the middle
of a date, too, and the date was mysteriously over when she
got back, although the guy she was dating was still hanging
around.
The girls continue their lives. Olive
lives mostly drama-free, and spends
most of her time dancing or cooking.
Olive does all the food prep and Rose
does all the cleaning, so it’s a pretty
equitable house. This leaves both of
them plenty of time for dancing or
chatting about construction with
streakers. Y’know, whatever floats
your boat.
Uh oh! Burglar! Luckily we had a burglar alarm, which you can
see going off behind the coat rack, so the police caught her
before she could take anything. She’s very pretty, though. If
this were a regular legacy, she’d go on my list.
Over the next few days, the burglary comes up again and
again in the girls’ thoughts. Even the prospect of another
conquest can’t distract Rose.
Rose reached her want of 20 lovers. I decided not to go
for the impossible want of 30 because Rose has almost
graduated and it’s time for her and Jim to reconcile.
They’ve been talking on the phone some while they’re
apart, but they haven’t seen each other since his first
eventful visit.
Olive graduated with her degree in economics and Rose in
psychology. They both graduated with a 4.0.
“We’ve grown so close over the last four years, Olive. I’ll miss you so
much.”
“Same here, sis. I’m excited to get on with my life with Valor but it’ll
be so strange not to have you around.”
“Well, at least we’ll live near each other. And just so you know, I’m
naming my children green names in honor of you, my sister.”
“Aww, I’m touched, Rose. Just think – soon we’ll be mothers!”
Just like that, Rose and Olive made their way back to Desiderata.
Now let’s catch up with the spares.
Olive took a small lot near the beach
(not an actual beach lot) that’s next
door to her brothers and one house
down from Rose and her parents. She
immediately invited Valor over, who
immediately checked himself out.
Jim must have rubbed off on Olive
some because she went for a very
tropical look for her and Valor’s
house. You probably can’t tell, but
he’s primping again on the front
porch. Sigh.
Valor and Olive had kept their relationship moving pretty slow, but it
was finally time to put things in motion.
“Olive, you are my world, my inspiration, my passion. Will you also be
my wife?”
“Oh, Valor! Of course I will, silly.”
Valor is another fortune sim and together they make a very nice-
looking power couple in black and white, ready to take on the
corporate world.
I had really grown to like Olive quite
a bit, so I made sure that she and
Valor had a beautiful wedding,
looking out over the ocean. Their
tropical living room made the
perfect setting.
Vows were said, rings were
exchanged, and the petals fell
before Valor drew Olive in for a long
kiss. They were now man and wife.
As good little fortune sims, they filled up their early days working on
paintings and begging me to buy them expensive statuary. They were
nearly always together when they weren’t working, but still the house
felt a little too big for just the two of them.
That would change soon, however.
And yes, Valor is primping autonomously again.
Valor! Pay attention! Your wife
is going into labor! Now is not
the time to admire your
dazzling white teeth!
Once he could be distracted,
he was there for the handoff as
Olive had twins – one of whom
carried her skin color!
The twins grew into very adorable toddlers. The boy with the green
skin is named Khaki, and his sister is named Sienna. They both got
the rainbow eyes!
And here’s Khaki and Sienna as children. Sienna takes after
her father quite a bit, except for her eyes, while Khaki has
more of the fuller Hues features.
And that’s the story of Olive and Valor’s life together.
Meanwhile, next door, Red and Carmine had moved into a double
house also along the beach.
While Olive and Rose were in college, Red and Carmine found
their own sweethearts and courted them. The day they moved in,
they both invited their sweeties over and proposed. Carmine, a
pleasure sim, proposed to Molly, a romance sim, right after they
had finished blowing bubbles, his favorite activity. Meanwhile,
Red proved his fortune sim roots by proposing to knowledge sim
Tracy right in front of his latest big buy.
Both Carmine and Molly and Red
and Tracy moved in together into
their separate houses and
started trying for a baby.
Molly conceived right away, but
Red and Tracy seemed to be
having problems getting
pregnant.
Before Molly’s pregnancy had progressed too far, Red and Carmine
decided to make honest women out of their blonde-tressed
fiancées. Both had quiet ceremonies, just the couple.
Molly and Carmine were once
again blowing bubbles when
Molly’s pregnancy began to
show. Carmine was excited to
be a father, even if it would
take away from his bubble
time.
Meanwhile, Red and Tracy were still having issues with infertility, so
they spent their time doing what they loved best, but always being
nearby each other.
Molly soon gave birth to the family’s second pair of twins in this
generation.
Beige, on the left, and Tan, on the right, grew into cute little boys
who favored their mother quite a bit.
While Tan and Beige were growing, Tracy finally realized she was
pregnant! She was overjoyed and both she and Red couldn’t wait to meet
their little one.
Beige and Tan soon grew into monochromatic children,
brown from head to toe.
That’s the story of Carmine and Molly’s family. They now had
two wonderful sons who followed in their father’s footsteps.
Soon after the boys grew up, Tracy gave birth to her son, Umber.
Umber had his grandfather and
mother’s hair color, but his
mother’s dark skin. He was a
striking toddler who soon grew
into an adorable little boy who
it was very hard to find
appropriate-looking eyebrows
for.
And that’s the end of Red and Tracy’s story, where they lived
happily ever after with their son, Umber.
Now that the spares are taken care of, it’s time to move up
the road to the left, back to the main house. Check back next
time to see if Rose keeps her promise of using green names,
whether Jim will ever get over his furiousness, and how the
main family will progress. Thank you for reading and we’ll see
you at SiMania! http://z12.invisionfree.com/Sim_Mania/
