The HTML5 term has two interpretations. The first
interpretation is the new HTML5 specification that defines
new elements, attributes and new JavaScript APIs. The
second is the large set of technologies that allow us to
develop powerful web sites and hybrid applications.

The main target of HTML 5.0 is to reduce the need for
proprietary plug-in-based rich internet application
technologies, such as JavaFX, Silverlight and Adobe Flash.
