Toyota has a culture that emphasizes investing in people and continuous improvement. However, Toyota faced some human resource issues that contributed to problems. Toyota's reward and recognition, training, and hiring processes did not properly incentivize gathering information about problems. As a result, Toyota restructured its human resources, refocused on its values, and improved its culture of trust and continuous improvement. Recommendations included adopting a more controlled human resources approach to avoid such issues in the future.
