• Learnt about Horizontal Injection Moulding Machine.
• In horizontal injection molding, the mold opens and closes along a
horizontal axis. Due to this configuration, consistent, correct
injection pressure is required to fill the mold cavities and help
ensure proper packing and cooling. Horizontal molds are typically
built with more cavities than their vertical counterparts, and are thus
able to produce more parts per cycle. In addition — thanks to the
horizontal separation of the mold halves — parts from these molds
naturally fall out of the cavity upon ejection, and do not need to be
manually extracted.
DAY-6
DATE
25-12-
2021
• Learnt about Vertical Injection Moulding Machine.
• In vertical injection molding, the two halves of the mold move
vertically, up and down, to open and close. The injection
mechanism is typically located at the top of the mold. Gravity plays
a large role in filling the mold cavities, along with the injection
pressure. This can help with filling time and consistency.

• Lubrication
• Petroleum jelly (Vaseline) or white grease is good for lubricating
parts that have gears or sliding surfaces. It is clear and less likely
than regular grease to leave stains on hands and clothing.
• Silicone spray is useful for sliding plastic or nylon parts. Take care
not to spill any on the floor as it is very slippery and hard to
remove.
• Graphite can be used as a dry lubricant (or as a paste) for moving
or sliding parts.
• Avoid excessive use of oil as it is messy and collects dust.

• Check that equipment is plugged in properly and that the cord is not
in danger of shorting (for example, if it is exposed to water or
steam) or in danger of being cut.
• Handle plugs (or connectors) with care. A break in a wire inside the
plug casing is hard to find and causes equipment to work
intermittently. This can result from bending the wire at the same
place or unplugging from the socket by pulling on the cord.

• Hot Runner System-
• A hot runner system is a molten plastic conveying unit used within
an injection mold. In other words, a hot runner system consists of
heated components (generally via electricity) used inside the plastic
injection molds, which brings the molten plastic from the barrel of
an injection molding machine into the cavities of the mold. The
sizing of hot runner melt channels depends on many factors such as
the type of resin, the injection speed, fill rate, and the molded part.
A temperature controller (standalone controller or controls from the
injection molding machine) heats the hot runner system within the
injection mold and the resin inside the machine barrel to processing
temperature and injects the resin into the mold.

• Mould Temperature Controller-
• The mold temperature controller circulates cooling fluid through the
mold's cooling circuits to provide equilibrium to the heat flux
experienced by the mold for every cycle. It is common to run
separate mold temperature controllers for each mold half. This set-
up allows for greater process control and processability.

• There are different types of packaging that are used for finished
goods; internal packaging, which the end consumer sees, and
external packaging, which is for industrial use. The internal
packaging is developed usually to appeal to the consumer and has
all the information required by law.
• The external packaging must be sufficient to protect the internal
packaging as well as the finished item. It must also have enough
information so that it identifies the contents, in text and often with
barcodes for use with RF technology in the warehouse. The external
packaging should have dimensions that allow a suitable quantity to
be stored on a pallet most efficiently.

• A retail store or a central warehouse uses bar code or radio-
frequency identification scanning at the point of receipt of goods.
Scanning individual items or shipment pallets allows a company to
itemize all shipments from the supplier, which can be compared
against the purchase order for errors or losses in transit. When your
business ships these goods out of the warehouse to their point of
sale, a second scan can automatically tally the remaining stock in

• What are engineering drawings used for?
• Engineering drawings (aka blueprints, manufacturing blueprints,
prints, manufacturing prints, dimensional prints, drawings,
mechanical drawings, and more) are a rich and specific outline that
shows all the information and requirements needed to manufacture
an item or product. It is more than simply a drawing; it is a
graphical language that communicates ideas and information.

• Environment pollution accompanies each stage of any industrial
process, starting with raw material and fuel production and ending
with waste treatment. Energy consumption plays a key role in every
human activity. On the other hand, its production is associated with
severe pollution of air, soil and water. That is why energy saving,
accomplished by any method contributes to reduction of the overall
pollution of environment. The exhaustion of raw materials in
nature, the increasing emission of greenhouse gases, the depletion
of ozone layer and the severe pollution of underground water and
soil prompted modern society to abandon the old-fashioned
approach of end-of-pipe emissions control

• Supply Chain Management (SCM) is the systemic, strategic
coordination of the traditional business functions within a particular
company and across businesses within the supply chain for the
purpose of improving the long-term performance of the individual
companies and the supply chain as a whole. A supply chain consists
of all parties involved, directly or indirectly in fulfilling a customer
request. The supply chain not only includes the manufacturer and
the supplier but also transporters, warehouses, retailers, and
customers themselves. Within each organization, such as a
manufacturer, the supply chain includes all the functions involved
in receiving and filling a customer request. A typical supply chain
may involve a variety of stages.
• These supply chain stages includes,
• Customers
• Retailers
• Wholesalers/Distributors
• Manufacturers
• Component / Raw-material suppliers

REPORT ON DEPARTMENT/SHOP/SECTION
Period From March 2022 to April 2022
Name of Shop/Dept./Section Moulding Dept.
Name & designation of Officer-in-chargetraining Mr. M. S. Thorat
REPORT :-
Plastic injection molding is a manufacturing process for producing parts from
both thermoplastic and thermosetting plastic materials. Material is fed into a heated
barrel, mixed, and forced into a mold cavity where it cools and hardens to the
configuration of the mold cavity.[1] After a product is designed, usually by an industrial
designer or an engineer, molds are made by a mold maker (or toolmaker) from metal,
usually either steel or aluminum, and precision-machined to form the features of the
desired part. Injection molding is widely used for manufacturing a variety of parts,
from the smallest component to entire body panels of cars. It utilizes a ram or screw-
type plunger to force molten plastic material into a mold cavity. It produces a solid or
open-ended shape that has conformed to the contour of the mold Uses thermoplastic or
thermoset materials. It produces a parting line, sprue, and gate marks. Ejector pin
marks are usually present Injection molding is used to produce thin-walled plastic parts
for a wide variety of applications, one of the most common being plastic housings.
Plastic housing is a thin-walled enclosure, often requiring many ribs and bosses on the
interior. These housings are used in a variety of products including household
appliances, consumer electronics, power tools, and as automotive dashboards. Other
common thin-walled products include different types of open containers, such as
buckets. Injection molding is also used to produce several everyday items such as
toothbrushes or small plastic toys. Many medical devices, including valves and
syringes, are manufactured using injection molding as well.

  • 4. 1 GUIDELINES FOR INDUSTRIAL TRAINING 1. ABOUT THE INSTITUTE (VACOE, A’NAGAR) Vishwabharati Academy’s College of Engineering and Polytechnic (VACOEP) is a well- known premier institution established in 2007 by a group of dedicated and visionary educationists. The institute is place on a hill top overlooking the picturesque view of the valley around and about 6 km away from the city center having 21.5 landscape areas. The colleges offers Undergraduate Programs in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Sandwich Engineering and Computer Engineering. The Postgraduate Programs offered by college include Mechanical and Computer Engineering. The Polytechnic run by VACOEP Ahmednagar offers courses in Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. VACOEP offers the best quality and industry based Technical Education to its students. The students are not only trained academically but their aptitude, soft skills, communication skills and total personality development is worked upon. As a result, they can face the challenges in the industry with great ease. During the final year itself the students are absorbed in reputed companies through our Campus Placement Cell. 2. NEED OF INDUSTRIAL TRAINING In the present scenario, manufacturing is approaching to become more flexible, agile and efficient under the changing environment of global competition, increased product variety, high renewal rate of product and shorter product life cycle in technology. New materials and their advanced processing are evolving. Product quality and maintainability are the key issues to be addressed on priority. The pace of development in the manufacturing world, process/IT industries is very fast. In order to cope with manufacturing competitiveness and to take leadership in manufacturing and R & D, the exposure to the new technologies is essential for the young engineering professionals who have to face these challenges and carry the technologies forward.
  • 5. 2 Industrial Training refers to work experience that is relevant to professional development prior to graduation. At VACOE,A’NAGAR Industrial Training of eight to twelve weeks is provided during the semester breaks before the beginning of pre-final year. Industrial Training is an essential component in the development of the practical and professional skills required for an Engineer and an aid to prospective employment. Many employers regard this period as a chance to vet new employees for future employment. Whilst difficult, it is desirable to obtain experience in a range of activities or practices followed in modern industry. It should also be noted that developing an awareness of general workplace behavior and interpersonal skills are important objectives of the Industrial Training experience. Industrial Training Objectives: • To expose engineering students to simulated in the classroom. the industrial environments, which cannot be • To apply the engineering knowledge in real industrial situations. • To use the experience gained from the ‘Industrial Training’ in discussions held in the lecture rooms. • To gain experience in writing reports in engineering works/projects. • To expose students to the engineer’s responsibilities andethics. • To expose the students to future employers. • Familiarize with various materials, processes, products and their applications alongwith relevant aspects of quality control and shop floor management. • Understand the psychology of the workers and their habits, attitudes and approachto problem solving. • Get exposed to the current technological developments relevant to the subject areato which the training pertains. • Understand the social, economic and administrative considerations that influencethe working environment of industrial organizations. 3. INDUSTRIAL TRAINING REPORTS i) Daily Training Dairy & Departmental Report. ii) Industrial Training Report DAILY TRAINING DAIRY The main purpose of writing daily training diary is to cultivate the habit of documenting and to encourage the students to search for details. It develops the students’ own thought process and reasoning abilities. The students should record in the daily training diary the day to day account of the observations, impressions and information gathered. It should contain the sketches & drawings
  • 6. 3 related to the observations made by the students.
  • 7. 4 The daily training diary should be got signed after every two weeks from the supervisor/in charge of the section in which the student has been working (See Annexure-A). • 15. 12 DAILY REPORT DAY & DATE REPORT DAY-5 DATE 24-12- 2021 • Learnt about Horizontal Injection Moulding Machine. • In horizontal injection molding, the mold opens and closes along a horizontal axis. Due to this configuration, consistent, correct injection pressure is required to fill the mold cavities and help ensure proper packing and cooling. Horizontal molds are typically built with more cavities than their vertical counterparts, and are thus able to produce more parts per cycle. In addition — thanks to the horizontal separation of the mold halves — parts from these molds naturally fall out of the cavity upon ejection, and do not need to be manually extracted. DAY-6 DATE 25-12- 2021 • Learnt about Vertical Injection Moulding Machine. • In vertical injection molding, the two halves of the mold move vertically, up and down, to open and close. The injection mechanism is typically located at the top of the mold. Gravity plays a large role in filling the mold cavities, along with the injection pressure. This can help with filling time and consistency. DAY-7 DATE 26-12- 2021 Learned about Process Parameters which are set in the moulding machines. Some parameters are- 1)Nozzle and Zones Temperature 2)Cooling Time 3)Injection Pressure, Speed and Time. 4)Suck Back Position 5)Shot Size 6)Refilling Speed 7)Cycle Time

Thorat REPORT :- Plastic injection molding is a manufacturing process for producing parts from both thermoplastic and thermosetting plastic materials. Material is fed into a heated barrel, mixed, and forced into a mold cavity where it cools and hardens to the configuration of the mold cavity.[1] After a product is designed, usually by an industrial designer or an engineer, molds are made by a mold maker (or toolmaker) from metal, usually either steel or aluminum, and precision-machined to form the features of the desired part. Injection molding is widely used for manufacturing a variety of parts, from the smallest component to entire body panels of cars. It utilizes a ram or screw- type plunger to force molten plastic material into a mold cavity. It produces a solid or open-ended shape that has conformed to the contour of the mold Uses thermoplastic or thermoset materials. It produces a parting line, sprue, and gate marks. Ejector pin marks are usually present Injection molding is used to produce thin-walled plastic parts for a wide variety of applications, one of the most common being plastic housings. Plastic housing is a thin-walled enclosure, often requiring many ribs and bosses on the interior. These housings are used in a variety of products including household appliances, consumer electronics, power tools, and as automotive dashboards. Other common thin-walled products include different types of open containers, such as buckets. Injection molding is also used to produce several everyday items such as toothbrushes or small plastic toys. Many medical devices, including valves and syringes, are manufactured using injection molding as well.
