Eph. 6 The Bible informs us that it’s important to prepare to and get a good night’s sleep. Psalm 4:8 “I will both lay me down  in peace , and  sleep : for  thou, LORD, only  makest me dwell in safety.”  Let God’s inspired word teach you to sleep like this!
Good Sleep Is A Gift From God We’re shown that God, “Giveth his beloved sleep” ( Psalm 127:2 ).  James 1:17 Jesus was able to sleep in a boat during a storm.  Mark 4:38 Peter was able to sleep chained to two guards in jail.  Acts 12:6 Why don’t we get good sleep at times? It could be that your life is out of tune with God. Ezek. 18:26-32; Ps. 132:3-5; Jn. 14:23   It might be that you have not applied God’s wisdom in this area of your lives.  2 Peter 1:3
When There’s Trouble Sleeping Screen your thought intake! Insomnia is often a  mind  problem rather than a  body  problem. God wants us to meditate/think on good things not bad things!  Philippians 4:8 David  changed his thoughts  from his enemies threats to his own faith-filled trust in God and  prayed .  Psalm 3; Phil. 4:6 Think on your reward waiting for you in heaven.  1 Peter 1:3-5, 13
Prepare For A Good Sleep By… Meditating on God’s Character! This command we can only fulfill  in bed . Psalm 4:4; 63:6 How do I meditate? Be still and silent (make a quiet time for this purpose).  Psalm 46:10; Habakkuk 2:20 Be serious (ought to make time for this every day).  1 Peter 4:7; 5:7
Prepare For A Good Sleep By… Meditating on God’s Character! Safety! God is our shield.  Psalm 18:2;28:7 His word will guard us and keep us.  Prov. 6:22 God gives us a wonderful peace.  Phil. 4:7 Honor! God honors His own.  Ps. 3; 91:15 God brings us Joy and deliverance!  Ps. 27:6; 1Thes.1:10
Prepare For A Good Sleep By… Reviewing God’s Promises! As a faithful Christian we need to make personal application to His precious promises. “ Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever” (Psalm 23:6). Tonight’s exercise: before going to bed read through these verses and substitute your name for the personal pronouns.  Psalm 23:6; Isaiah 25:9; Romans 8:37-39; 1 John 4:4; Jude 24-25
Prepare For A Good Sleep By… Talking to the Shepherd, rather than counting sheep (Psalm 3:4)! He wants us to cast our burden upon Him. Psalm 55:22  “ Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.”  Pray for His sheep!  Ps. 37:5; 1 Thes. 5:17; Eph. 6:18
