Login to http://www.slideshare.com with your email/username and password
Click on upload in the top bar
Click orange ‘upload’ button if you are only uploading one file that is less than 20MB,
(of note, you will generally use this option)
*if you want to share privately, upload multiple files at once, upload a video or add files that are larger than 20MB to your library, use the
blue ‘upload+’ button ...this is in an Pro account, and available for $/month.
**NEW feature: you can now upload directly from your Dropbox account!
Your file will go through “PROCESSING” …
**Recommendation: Wait until it is finished processing to add details to your file. They don’t always save and
you might have to redo your work (no fun!)…

*NOTE: If you don’t catch it in time to add details, don’t fret, you can add details anytime to any of your
uploads by accessing the backend of the individual file … Next to your profile icon (far-right, top bar),
use drop-down to find ‘my uploads’ and that will take you to a page with each of your files. Click on
‘edit’ and select edit details from the dropdown.

Now, it’s time to OPTIMIZE your upload/resource …
Add a title, use proper capitalization
Add up to 3000 character description (use your keywords that are applicable), be very descriptive –
this is what helps your audience find your content. Include #Hashtags – sprinkle them in, don’t
overdo!
HINT: If you are resharing someone else’s content, pull the first couple of paragraphs or the
‘conclusion’ directly out of the resource.
OF NOTE: If you are resharing someone else’s resource, (i.e. a branded resource) – do not remove
branding and ensure that it does not state within the resource that it is not acceptable to reshare.
Always give an attribution where it is due! For example, “via Sysomos” (see below) …

Add category – use a ‘broad’ category – what would people would be thinking about when they are
trying to get information you are providing? **They are continually adding more categories, try to
find the best fit and revisit the categories once every 60 days or so to ensure your content is in the
best one.
add tags (a.k.a. keywords) – choose from drop-down menu/generated suggestions, add up to 20x
long-tail targeted keywords. Add your company name as a keyword, each and every time.
Choose from the drop down, take advantage of the suggestions … add them as long as they are
relevant to that particular content!

*Note: This is where you can choose whether your resource will be displayed to the public or remain in
your private library, but not sure why you’d upload something private very often ;-)
Save and check your work! Click on Save & Continue button … click ‘view presentation’ ~ all well?
Get lots of mileage out of it! Embed it on your website … Socialize it to Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn, but
be sure to customize the message for each channel – different length and ‘way’ of getting eyeballs on it
have fun sharing knowledge and becoming a resource and authority on your niche.
