Lets Discuss
• Have you ever slipped
in market or
crowded area?
• What should we do
while walking on a
slippery area?
I Slipped on a Banana Peel
(Kenn Nesbitt)
I slipped on a banana peel
and fell and hit my head.
I slipped upon a patch of ice
which nearly killed me dead.
I slipped upon a roller skate
and tumbled into space.
I slipped inside the bathtub
and landed on my face.
I slipped upon the basement stairs
and on the kitchen floor.
I wish that I could stop myself
from slipping anymore.
So now I only wear my shoes
or boots or clogs or flippers.
But I don’t want to slip again
so I don’t wear my slippers.

Q. Attempt the following questions.
i. What is more dangerous a banana peel or a patch of ice
and give reason?
ii. How does he stop himself from slipping?
iii. Explain your point of view about the poem’s theme?
iv. Do you agree with the poet? Give reasons.
v. Draw the shape of banana and write the places where
did he slip?
