To sand a floor, clear all furniture from the room and protect doors and cupboards from wood dust. Remove any hazards from the floor and repair any wood panels before starting to sand. Load the floor sander with sandpaper and sand the floor in gradual passes from one side of the room to the other, sanding with the grain. Finish by sanding edges and corners, then apply several coats of varnish to seal and protect the floor. Allow adequate drying time between coats and before using the floor.
