A company that sells industrial containers was facing a storage issue, as they had run out of space on the ground floor to keep containers. They were looking for solutions to more quickly move containers. Several options were proposed: building a ramp to transport containers by truck; bringing materials inside and assembling containers on the first floor; temporarily storing containers offsite; or renting a crane to store containers on the roof. The team ultimately recommended bringing materials inside and assembling containers on the first floor, as it was the cheapest and easiest solution.

2. PROBLEM
A company sells industrial containers. They have a
problem, they have no more space to store them
in the ground floor and they move them very
slowly. They are looking for a solution and we’ll
help them.

3. SOLUTION 1
Make a ramp outside the building, that goes
from the ground floor to the first floor. And
then transport the containers with trucks.
● ADVANTAGES:It’s easy because you only
have to drive in a road.
● DISADVANTAGES:It’s expensive to
have many trucks,also, it’s dificult and
expensive to contstruct the ramp.

4. SOLUTION 2
Bring the material to the first floor and mount them
directly there. And employ more people to work faster.
● ADVANTAGES: It’s more faster to build them and
transport them because they have an elevator.

DISADVANTAGES: Needs a lot of people but is not really
fast because the elevator goes slow.

5. SOLUTION 3
As we have no information on where the store
is located, they could also mount them and store
them temporarily abroad. Or rent a nearby
warehouse.
● ADVANTAGES: They will have more space, it’s easy to
transport and faster.
● DISADVANTAGES: It’s a bit expensive depending on what you
do: if you rent a nearby warehouse, its expensive, but if you
store abroad is not expensive because you don’t have to pay
anything. However, depend on the materials which the
containers are made of, they can rust.

6. SOLUTION 4
Rent a crane to raise the containers to store them on
the roof of the building.
● ADVANTAGES:they will have more space to build them
because the containers will not disturb, so they will
mount more faster.
● DISADVANTAGES:rent this type of craine it’s very
expensive and also they can rust because they will be
outside.

7. Out of all the ideas, finally we opted for the
cheapest and easiest one: bringing the material to
the fist floor and mounting there.
Then, when they sell all the containers of the
ground floor, they can mounted them there and sell
the containers of the first floor, and so on.
