 Don’t overdue it.
 Each slide should be simple but informational.
 Too much can be distracting.
COLORS
 Purple
 Blue
 Green
 Orange
 Red
 Yellow
SHAPES
 Triangle
 Square
 Rectangle
 Circle
 Oval
 Octagon
 Bullets are good in moderation.
 They should provide a professional looking
power point.
 They can also help organize information and
your thoughts when presenting.
 The bullets should be JUSTIFIED.
 You cant follow along with the bullets when they are put in different
places.
 It would be hard to know where to go next.
 I wouldn’t know what went with what.
 The bullets should be similar and the writing be similar
sizes as well.
 I bet this is very hard to read.
 On the next slide you will see the appropriate
way to match the background to the color.
 Choosing a less distracting background.
 When choosing a background
 Go with a solid color.
 Something with a little contrast might be ok.
 Choose colors that are easy to look at.
 Make sure you can read the words you are putting
on your slide as well.
 Color is very important.
 You need to get the readers attention.
CONTRAST
 Make sure you put light over dark.
 Or dark over light.
 Too many graphics can be distracting.
 You don’t want to make them to big or to small
either.
 Cows are good for milk and they live on farms.
 They usually are black or brown.
 They eat grass.
 One graphic with a description is best.
 Put your bullets into
groups of 4.
 It is easier for the mind to
understand.
 Using one word can be
helpful as well.
 Less distracting when in
groups of four.
FAVORITE COLORS
 RED
 PURPLE
 GREEN
 BLUE
 See how much easier that
was to remember.
Make sure that your words compliment your
pictures and your pictures compliment your
words.
You wouldn’t say I see a cow and have a picture
of a dog.
You wouldn’t say I like the orange color of a tiger
and show a white tiger.
 This Tiger is ORANGE.
 I like the color of tigers.
 They can run fast.
 They eat a lot.
 Use a familiar font.
 Don’t go to fancy because sometimes it is hard
to read.
 Your effects can benefit your power point if
they are not overboard.
 Be sure you are able to read everything.
