B. Cultivate, or designate a primary caregiver to cultivate under paragraph F, up to a total of
6 mature marijuana plants for that qualifying patient. In addition to the 6 mature
marijuana plants, the patient who is cultivating the patient's own marijuana may have
harvested marijuana in varying stages of processing in order to ensure the patient is able
to maintain supply and meet personal needs. Two or more qualifying patients who are
members of the same household and cultivating their own marijuana may share one
enclosed, locked facility for cultivation; [2011, c. 407, Pt. B, §16 (AMD).]
1. Qualifying patient. Except as provided in section 2426, a qualifying patient may:
Possess up to 2 1/2 ounces of prepared marijuana and an incidental amount of marijuana

- Brief discussion of germinating seeds OR taking clones from a mother plant. Questions: is it true that the healthiest seeds all have a dark brown cover? How many clones can a patient possess? Why is it important to take more cuttings than you will need? Briefly describe the light cycle and moisture needs for us.
- Before you move into veg, important to have the right equipment ready. Am I missing anything? Again, we’re focusing on indoor. Equipment costs will total between $250 and the sky’s the limit. Let’s talk growing media—there are a lot of different options. Can you guys discuss some of those options and their pros & cons? What is the easiest for a beginning grower?
- What is the purpose of the vegetative stage? How do we select the clones that we will put into veg? What light, humidity and temp levels do the plants need at this stage?
- How do I prepare my area? How much space will I need for 6 plants? I’ve heard of this “sea of green” method—what are the benefits/drawbacks to that?
- Becky explains dioecious. Questions: When will I start seeing pre-flowers? I have heard of “feminized” seeds that are supposed to be all female; what are your thoughts on that? Can female plants spontaneously turn hermaphrodite? If that happens, what should I do?
- “Station ID” (We’re here with Shawn and Ian, two of our talented cultivation experts here at WCM, talking about growing your own medicine…) OK, so we have been in veg for several weeks—how many, again? How will I know it’s time to put them into flowering? Is there a “wrong” time to do that? Also, discuss odor control here!
- What are the plant’s needs in the flowering stage? Let’s start with light. If I am only using one room, or a closet, can I just switch out the light bulbs? What temperature and humidity needs will they have? What about feeding—can I use Miracle Gro? Is there any special equipment you would recommend? (Ph Meter, jeweler’s loupe) Should I pull off leaves that are getting yellow? Can I prune cannabis like I would prune an azalea bush in my yard?
- How do we know when it’s time to harvest? What if I have 6 plants but they are two different strains—should I harvest them together? How much magnification do I really need to look at trichomes? Why do the trichomes turn darker?
- What preparations should I make for my first harvest? How much room should my 6 plants take? What type of space should I prepare? (Why is it important that it be dark?) What humidity and temp levels? Do I need to hire a hand model? I’ll need a table and maybe a cookie sheet, yes? Can I use 70% rubbing alcohol to clean my Fiskars?
- Should I trim the plants as I harvest them and then hang them to dry? Or hang them to dry and then trim? Should I hang the whole plant, or cut branches off? What about these nets—pros and cons? How long will the harvest for 6 plants take? Again, what is the perfect environment for drying? Should I buy a dehumidifier?
- Tell me about the curing process. What will we need to do? Why is curing important? What if I don’t cure my medicine? How will I know when it’s cured? And then what do I do with it, just leave it in the jars? Will it go bad? Practically speaking--How many jars will I need? Can I use Tupperwares? How full should I make the jars? Can I just leave the jars in
- Briefly touch on each—what are the signs? Is leaf damage sometimes a sign? How do I get rid of them? How do I prevent them in the first place? (Focus on prevention!)
