Challenge
One of the largest cement and concrete manufacturers in Latin America had been
monitoring price levels through traditional surveys; utilizing a large budget every 4-5
years to send enumerators out and gain insights on pricing at hardware stores. This
method of data collection was costly, time consuming, and resource intensive -
requiring the manufacturer to send their own people to the hardware stores for
surveying. This methodology also limited insights to a one-time snapshot rather than
real-time monitoring.
Premise Solution
The Premise was able to use point of interest data along with a robust contributor
network go to each of the hardware stores previously visited by the enumerators
on a weekly - and sometimes daily - cadence. Contributors reported on product
availability and price points on these regular intervals
Impact
By utilizing the Premise network, the cost of data collection operated at a fraction of
traditional survey enumeration. Beyond this, price levels were now provided at frequent
intervals, providing key insights with timing that was actionable.

premise.com Case Study: Mars Pet CESAR
Challenge
Mars Pet needed in-store shopper insights and retail execution data for an exclusive
product rollout at a big box retailer. Due to COVID-19, the new product launch had not
followed Mars Pet’s typical process. This had limited their ability to ensure the
maximal effectiveness of the launch. Moreover, they lacked data on how dog owner
shoppers were interacting and responding to their product line in-store.
Premise Solution
By conducting execution audits and generating rapid shopper insights on their
launch, Premise enabled Mars Pet in-store visibility for the new product for the first
time. Specifically targeting dog pet owners, Premise Contributors completed 60
unique store audits in 23 states in only 3 days. As the audits were completed by
Mars’s target shoppers, they also got in the moment insights into what shoppers
thought about the new product line. The data was made available as it was reported,
enabling the Insights Department to immediately furnish data to the Sales
Department.
Impact for Mars Pet
With Premise, Mars was able to elicit several key findings. In terms of the retail
execution, the retailer had complied with visibility requirements, but had stocked
their items directly next to their main competitor. Premise also uncovered that 20% of
the time their launch was fully out of stock. Most importantly, 33% of observed
coolers were incorrectly merchandised and contained products from both their brand
as well their main competitor. Based on these findings, Mars Pet was able to take
action to increase product availability and avoid incorrect merchandising.

for their alcohol beverage needs. This held true even during the COVID-19 pandemic, when
other consumers groups sent online alcohol delivery sales surging.

questions around alcohol beverage consumption habits and preferences as well experience
with online alcohol delivery or pick up. In 48 hours, Premise received 200 responses across
the U.S.
We identified differences in propensity towards alcohol e-commerce habits depending on
demographic groups and geography and were able to expand on why contributors have not
bought alcohol online, and what they liked about about the alcohol service delivery service
provider.
