Preface
Praise be to Allaah and peace be upon those whom He chose.
There are many religions in the world and each religion claims to be
true, but all of them cannot be true, because they are contrary to each other.
Now the question arises: Which is the true religion? This book gives you the
answer of this question.
Every religion claims to be from the God. If a religion is from the God,
it should present the right concept of the God. How can we conceive that the
God has sent a religion which conveys wrong concept of Himself? If any religion
presents the wrong concept of the God, that itself gives a proof of its
falsehood. Therefore to find the true religion, one must study the concept of
God in all religions.
Now, what is the right concept of the God? And what is the wrong
concept of the God? The right concept of the God comprises with the attributes
of the God that the God deserves, such as: the God should be All-Powerful, All-
Living, Eternal, All-Hearing, All-Seeing, etc. On contrary, the wrong concept of
the God comprises with the attributes of the God that the God does not
deserve, such as: ignorance, foolishness, birth, death, eating, sleeping,
weeping, weakness, dependence, defeat, having parents, wife and children,
etc. No normal person can conceive these flaws in the God, but, in the
concepts of God in all religions except Islam, we find that some or all of these
flaws have been ascribed toward the God, Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala.
In this book, I am going to present the concept of the God in Islam. And I
hope if any non-Muslim studies the concept of the God in Islam and the concept
of god in his/her religion, he will insha Allaah find the true religion and the
true God.
There are many other proofs of Islam’s truthfulness. I have mentioned a
few of them in this book. I appeal all the readers of the book to study this book
without prejudice and bias, and ponder on the truth. Your good future is in
following the Truth.
May Allaah guide all of us to the Truth, Aameen.

How to Find the True Religion
The Concept of the God in Islam
The best way to study the concept of the God in Islam is to study the Names
of Allaah (s.w.t.). The Holy Qur’an says:
ؕ
“Allaah! There is no God but He. He has the beautiful Names.” (20: 8)
Allaah’s beautiful Names give the required information about Him and
describe His Being, Attributes, Powers, Status and Rights.
Prophet Muhammed (s.a.w.s.) says, “There are ninety nine Names of
Allaah. Whoever memorizes them will enter Paradise.” (Saheeh Bukhari and
Saheeh Muslim)
Allaah’s Names are the touchstones of theology (science of God). Whoever
claims to be God must be examined in the light of Allaah’s Names. It means we
must see whether the person who claims to be God has the Attributes and
Powers mentioned in Allaah’s Names. The reality of the person will come into
light.
Let us study Allaah’s beautiful Names one by one and know the concept
of the God in Islam.
The one who claims to be God must be Creator, Inventor, Originator,
Evolver, Fashioner, Sustainer, Cherisher and Lord of the Universe of the
Universe. How can anyone claim to be God in the creation of the other?
AL-KHALIQUE (The Creator)
The Holy Qur’an says:
1) “Allaah is the Creator of all things.” (39:62)
ؕ
ؒ
2) “Those, whom they invoke besides Allaah, cannot create anything.
They are themselves created. They are dead, not living, nor do they
know when they will be raised up. Your God is One God.” (16: 20-22)
3) “It is He to Whom belongs the Sovereignty of the heavens and the
earth. No child has He begotten, nor has He a partner in His Sovereignty.
It is He Who created all things and ordered them in due proportions. Yet
have they taken, besides Him, gods that can create nothing but are
themselves created, that can neither help nor harm themselves, and
that have no power over death, life and resurrection.” (25: 2, 3)
4) “Say: ‘Have you pondered on those whom you invoke besides Allaah?
Show me what it is they have created on the earth or have they a share
in the heavens.’” (46:4)
5) “Is He, then, Who has created like him who cannot create? Will you
not receive admonition?” (16: 17)
Some people say that there is no Creator of the universe. The Holy Qur’an
says:
ۙ
“There are, on the earth, Signs for those of assured Faith, and also in
your own selves. Will you not see then?” (51: 20, 21)
Let atheists look at their physical structure: how wisely and how
systematically each and every organ has been shaped and placed! They have
been provided with ears to hear, eyes to see, nose to smell and breathe, mouth
to eat and drink, teeth to masticate, tongue to taste and to speak, hands to
work, feet to walk et cetera. Let them study these organs in the light of
scientific data available. Let them ponder on the location, the structure and
the functions of the organs, like Heart, Brain, Stomach, Kidney, Liver, etc., of
their inner body in the light of scientific data available. Let them reflect on the
interconnection of organs and the different kind of systems prevalent in their
body such as Digestive system, Circulatory system, Reproductive system,
Respiratory system et cetera. Let them ponder on how each and every organ of
their body works to form an individual, how wisely and systematically the
organs have been interconnected, how wisely and systematically the different
kinds of system are being operated. Then the Truth will surely enter their mind
Insha-Allaah. They will not be able to deny the existence of the Creator. They
will realize that it is not possible to have so perfectly shaped and perfectly
placed organs and so wisely and systematically interconnected organs and
systems without a Creator and Organizer. The Holy Qur’an says:
“That is Allaah, your Lord. There is no God but He, the Creator of all
things. Therefore, worship Him.” (6: 102)
Dr. Hammudah Abdalati says: “We know that every product is the work of a
certain producer, and that every beautiful art is the creation of some great
artist. We realize that no family can function properly without a responsible
head, that no city can prosperously exist without sound administration, and
that no state can survive without a chief of some kind. We also realize that
nothing comes into being on its own. Moreover, we observe that the universe
exists and functions in the most orderly manner, and that it has survived for
hundreds of thousands of years. Can we, then, say that all this is accidental
and haphazard? Or can we attribute the existence of man and the whole world
to mere chance?
There must be a Great Force in action to keep everything in order. In the
beautiful nature, there must be a Great Artist who creates the most charming
pieces of art and produces everything for a special purpose in life. This Force is
the strongest of all forces, and this Artist is the greatest of all artists. The true
believers and deeply enlightened people recognize this Artist and call Him
Allaah or God. They call Him God because He is the Creator and Chief Architect
of the world, the Originator of life and the provider of all things in existence.
He is not a man because no man can create or make another man. He is not an
animal, nor is He a plant. He is neither an idol nor is He a statue of any kind
because none of these things can make itself or create anything else. He is not
a machine. He is neither the sun, nor is He the moon or any other star, because
these things are controlled by a great system, and are themselves made by
someone else. He is different from all these things since He is a maker and
keeper of them all.” (Islam in Focus: Pg. 2, 3)
AL-BAARI (The Originator)
AL-MUSAWWIR (The Fashioner)
The Holy Qur’an says:
“He is Allaah, the Creator, the Originator, the Fashioner. His are the
most beautiful Names.” (59: 24)
Allaah not only originates things (creates things out of nothing), but also
moulds them into suitable form, so that they can play their role in His universal
system.
AL-BADI‘ (The Inventor)
The Holy Qur’an says:
“(Allaah is) the Inventor of the heavens and the earth. When He decrees
a matter, He says to it, ‘Be’ and it becomes.” (2:117)
It is Allaah’s Power that His word “Be” is enough to bring the whole
universe into existence.
AL-FAATIR (The Evolver)
The Holy Qur’an says:
“Praise be to Allaah, the Evolver of the heavens and the earth.” (35:1)
Fatr implies a process of evolving from previously created matter or state.
AR-RAZZAQUE (The One Who gives sustenance)
The Holy Qur’an says:
1) “Allaah is He Who gives sustenance.” (51:58)
“Sustenance” stands for all those things that support life and that meet all
physical needs of living beings such as air, water, light, vegetables, fruits,
cereals et cetera. “Sustenance” refers to all that is necessary to sustain and
develop life in all its phases.
Allaah is He Who gives sustenance to all without any cost. The money that
we give to farmers and shopkeepers to buy vegetables, fruits and other edible
things etc. is not the cost of those things, but it is the wage that we pay the
farmers and the shopkeepers for bringing these things to us. We must know
that farmers are not the creators of those things; Allaah is the Creator of those
things.
2) “He has the keys of the heavens and the earth. He enlarges and
restricts the sustenance whom He wills. For He is All-Knowing of all
things.” (42: 12)
3) “Who is there that can provide you with sustenance if He withholds
His sustenance?” (67: 21)
ۚ◌۠
4) “They worship others, besides Allaah, that have no power of giving
them sustenance with anything in heavens or earth and that cannot
possibly have such power?” (16: 73)
5) “There is no creature on the earth but its sustenance depends on
Allaah.” (11: 6)
6) “Is it they who portion out the Mercy of your Lord? It is We Who
portion out their livelihood among them in the life of this world. And We
raise some of them above others in ranks, so that some may take the
others into their service. But the Mercy of your Lord is better than what
they amass.” (43: 32)
7) “O men! Remember the Grace of Allaah unto you! Is there any other
Creator, besides Allaah, who gives you sustenance from heavens or
earth? There is no God but He. How are you perverted then?” (35: 3)
AL-WAHHAAB (The Bestower)
The Holy Qur’an says:
ۚ
1) “Do they have the treasures of the Mercy of your Lord, the Majestic,
the Bestower?” (38: 9)
ؕ
2) “Such is Allaah, your Lord. His is the Sovereignty and those whom you
invoke besides Him own not a Qitmeer. If you invoke them, they cannot
listen to your call. And even if they hear, they cannot answer you.”
(35:13, 14)
Qitmeer means the thin, white skin that covers the date stone. It has
neither strength, nor texture, and has no value whatever.
‘They cannot answer you’ means they cannot meet your needs, they cannot
give anything to you because they have nothing, not even a Qitmeer, to give.
So, invoke Allaah alone because He alone has the keys of the heavens and the
earth, and His is the Sovereignty and He alone is the Bestower. The Holy Qur’an
says:
“And you have no good things but from Allaah.” (16: 53)
AR-RABB (The Lord, The Cherisher and Sustainer)
The Holy Qur’an says:
ۙ
1) “Praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the universe.” (1: 2)
۠
2) “Say: ‘Who is the Lord and Sustainer of the heavens and the earth?’
Say: ‘(It is) Allaah.’ Say: ‘Why have you then chosen gods besides Him
who, even to themselves, can do neither good nor harm?’” (13: 16)
3) “Say: ‘Shall I seek as (my) Lord other than Allaah while He is the Lord
of all things? Every soul draws the meed of its acts on none but itself. No
bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another. Your return in the
end is towards Allaah. He will tell you the truth of the things wherein
you disputed.’” (6: 164)
4) “They make their clerics and their monks and the Christ, the son of
Mary, lords besides Allaah although they had been ordered to worship
only One God. There is no God but He. Exalted be He above those whom
they associate (with Him).” (9: 31)
5) “Say: ‘O people of the Book! Come to a point that is common between
us and you: that we will worship none but Allaah, that we associate none
with Him, and that we will not make, from among ourselves, lords other
than Allaah.’So, if they turn away, then say: ‘Be witness that we are
Muslims.’” (3: 64)
ؒ
6) “(Allaah is) the Lord of the heavens and of the earth and of all that is
between them. So, worship Him and be constant and patient in His
worship. Do you know any other worthy of His Name?” (19: 65)
ؒ
7) “Verily, your Religion is but one Religion, and I am your only Lord.
Therefore, serve Me. But they have divided their affair among
themselves, but to Us they all shall return.” (21: 92, 93)
ؒ
8) “(O Muhammed!) Say: ‘I am but a man like yourselves, (but) the
Inspiration has come to me that your God is one God. He, who expects to
meet his Lord, should do righteous deeds and must not associate anyone
in the worship of his Lord.’” (18: 110)
AL-MALIK (The Sovereign)
The Holy Qur’an says:
1) “He is Allaah, besides Whom there is no other God, the Sovereign.”
(59:23)
Many people think that the God is One, but He has given His beloved ones
the Authority to handle and maintain affairs of the world and valuable things
like sustenance, power, money, knowledge et cetera. So, they created a
separate god or goddess for every valuable thing like god of sustenance,
goddess of power, goddess of money, goddess of knowledge et cetera. They
made idols of those gods and goddesses by their own fancies and began to
worship and invoke them for respective things. If it is accepted that the God
has given the Authority of the valuable things and their affairs to His beloved
ones, it clearly means that the God does not possess the Authority of those
things any more. If it is so, how can the God remain the God? What is the
necessity of His presence then?
When polytheists could not answer these questions, they change their idea
and say, “No, the God has not given the Authority of those things to His
beloved ones, but He has appointed His beloved ones on those things. The
Authority rests with the God alone.”
If the Authority rests with the God alone, then, we must not worship and
invoke others (the appointed ones). We must worship and invoke the God
alone. Since the appointed ones are slaves, they cannot carry out anything by
their own, they are not free to operate, and they have to follow the order of
the Authority (the God). So, it is wrong to worship and invoke other than the
God, the Master of the universe. So, Allaah says:
2) “Say: ‘Call upon those whom you thought (gods) besides Allaah. They
have no Sovereignty, not even equal to the weight of an atom either in
the heaven or on the earth. Neither have they any share therein nor is
any of them a helper to Allaah.’” (34:22)
3) “To Allaah belongs the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth.”
(9:116)
ؒ
4) “So, Glory to Him in Whose Hands is the Sovereignty of all things. And
to Him you shall all be brought back.” (36:83)
AL-GHANI (The Self-Sufficient, The Rich, The Resourceful)
AL-HAMEED (The Praiseworthy)
The God be self sufficient and free from all wants and needs. Is the one whom
you worship free from all wants and needs?
The Holy Qur’an says:
1) “If one strives, one does so for one’s own soul. For Allaah is Free of
all wants from all creations.” (29: 6)
2) “To Allaah belong all things in the heavens and the earth. Verily,
Allaah alone is the Self-Sufficient, Worthy of Praise.” (31: 26)
3) “O you men! You all are beggar in front of Allaah, and Allaah alone is
the Self-Sufficient, Worthy of Praise.” (35:15)
AL-QHAWI (The Almighty)
AL-AZEEZ (The Omnipotent, The Majestic)
The God must be Almighty and Omnipotent. If the one whom you worship is not
Almighty and Omnipotent, the one can not be the God.
The Holy Qur’an says:
1) “Your Lord alone is the Omnipotent, the Almighty.” (11: 66)
2) “Might belongs to Allaah entirely.” (2: 165)
3) “Verily, Allaah is Omnipotent, Almighty.” (22: 74)
AL-MATEEN (The Strong)
The God must be Strong. The God can not be weak.
The Holy Qur’an says:
“Verily, Allaah is He, Who gives (all) sustenance, the Owner of Might,
the Strong.” (51: 58)
AL-QHAHHAAR (The Irresistible, The Invincible)
The God must be the Irresistible and the Invincible. The God can not be a loser.
The Holy Qur’an says:
ۚ
“There is no God but Allaah, the One, the Irresistible.” (38: 65)
AL-QHADEER (The All-Powerful)
AL-MUQHTADIR (The Paramount)
Al-GHALIB (the Subduer, the Subjugator)
The God must be the All-Powerful and the Paramount. The God can not be
powerless and controlled.
The Holy Qur’an says:
ؒ
1) “Verily, Allaah is All-Knowing, All-Powerful.” (16: 70)
ؒ
2) “Verily, Allaah is All-Powerful over all things.” (2: 20)
3) “Verily, when He intends a thing, His Command is ‘Be’, and it
becomes!” (36: 82)
4) “Allaah is Paramount over all things.” (18: 45)
5) “Allaah is Ghalib over His affairs, but most among mankind know it
not.” (12: 21)
6) “Verily, His are the creation and the Command. Blessed be Allaah, the
Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds!” (7: 54)
7) “Whatever you worship apart from Him is nothing but names which you
and your fathers have named, for which Allaah has not sent down any
Authority. The Command is of none but Allaah. He has commanded that
you worship none but Him. That is the right Religion, but most men do
not understand.” (12: 40)
AL-FA ‘ ‘AL (The Executant)
The God must be able to execute what he wills and intends. If the one fails to
do so, the one can not be the God.
The Holy Qur’an says:
1) “Your Lord is the Executant of all that He intends.” (11: 107)
2) “Allaah carries out all that He intends.” (22: 14)
◌
3) “Allaah carries out all that He wills.” (22: 18)
4) “When Allaah decrees a matter, it is always executed.
Allaah’s Wills and Determinations are based on knowledge and wisdom,
truth and justice. They are free from all kinds of defects, mistakes and errors.
And He has the Power to carry out all that He wills and determines. The Holy
Qur’an says:
ۙ
4) “Do not say of anything, ‘I will do it tomorrow,’ without adding: ‘If
Allaah wills.’” (18: 23, 24)
AL-‘ALI (The High), AL-KABEER (The Grand)
The Holy Qur’an says:
“Verily, Allaah alone is the High, the Grand.” (22: 62)
AL-AZEEM (The Great)
The Holy Qur’an says:
ؒ
“So, glorify the Name of your Lord, the Great.” (56: 74)
ZUL-‘ARSH (The Lord of the Throne), AL-MAJEED (The Glorious)
The God must be the Lord of the Throne and Glorious. The Holy Qur’an says:
ۙ
1) “(Allaah is) The Lord of the Throne, the Glorious.” (85: 15)
2) “The Gracious established on the Throne.” (20: 5)
3) “His chair encompassed the heavens and the earth.” (2: 255)
AL-QHUDDOOS (The Holy One), AS-SALAAM (The Safe),
AL-MOOMIN (The Source of Peace), AL-MUHAIMIN (The Refuge),
AL-JABBAAR (The Overbearing), AL-MUTAKABBIR (The Proud)
The Holy Qur’an says:
“He is Allaah, besides Whom there is no other God, the Sovereign, the Holy
One, the Safe, the Source of Peace, the Refuge, the Omnipotent, the
Overbearing, the Proud, Glory to Allaah! (High is He) above what they associate
(with Him).” (59: 23)
1) AL-QHUDDOOS (The Holy One): Allaah is the Holy One means He is
Free from all defects, weaknesses, mistakes, faults, flaws, errors, sins,
oppression, tyranny and all other evils.
2) AS-SALAAM (The Safe): Allaah is the Safe means He is Invulnerable.
He is Free from time, death and all sorts of dangers, fears, harms,
losses, troubles, difficulties, pains, problems, disturbances, calamities
et cetera.
3) AL-MOOMIN (the Source of Peace): He Himself is Peace and the
Source of Peace for those who turned to Him.
4) AL-MUHAIMIN (The Refuge): Allaah is the Refuge to all from all sorts
of dangers, fears, harms, losses, troubles, difficulties, pains, problems,
disturbances, calamities et cetera.
5) AL-MUTAKABBIR (The Proud): Allaah alone deserves to be Proud of
Himself.
The God must have all these qualities.
AR-RAHMAAN (The All-Merciful), AR-RAHEEM (The Exclusively Merciful)
The God must be Merciful. The Holy Qur’an says:
ؒ
1) “And your God is One God. There is no God but He, the All-Merciful,
the Exclusively Merciful.” (2: 163)
2) “(Allaah says,) My Mercy encompasses all things.” (7: 156)
3) “What Allaah, out of His Mercy, bestows on mankind none can
withhold; and what He withholds none can grant, apart from Him. And
He is Almighty, All-Wise.” (35: 2)
AR-RAOOF (The Kind, The Well-Wisher)
The God must be Well-Wisher and Kind. The Holy Qur’an says:
ۙ
“Your Lord is indeed the Kind, the Merciful.” (16: 7)
AL-WADOOD (The Loving)
The God must be Loving. The Holy Qur’an says:
ۙ
“And He is the Very Forgiving, the Loving One.” (85: 14)
AL-BARR (The Beneficent)
The God must be Beneficent. The Holy Qur’an says:
ؒ
“Verily, it is He, the Beneficent, the Merciful.” (52: 28)
AL-KAREEM (The Benevolent), AL-HALEEM (The Forbearing)
The God must be Benevolent and Forbearing. The Holy Qur’an says:
ۙ
1) “O man! What has seduced you from your Lord, the Benevolent.” (82:
6)
ؒ
2) “Know that Allaah is Very Forgiving, Forbearing.” (2: 235)
Allaah has created man and provided him with all those things that are
necessary for the survival and the growth of man. Yet most people reject Faith
in Allaah and worship others besides Allaah. Allaah is forbearing all these and is
continuing to be Benevolent to them.
AL-GAFOOR, AL-GAFFAAR (The Very Forgiving)
The Holy Qur’an says:
ؒ
1) “Know that Allaah is the Very Forgiving, the Merciful.” (5: 34)
2) (Allaah says,) “Verily, I am Very Forgiving to that who turns in
repentance and believes (in Me), does righteous work, then accepts the
right Path.” (20: 82)
ۙ
ۙ
3) “Say: ‘O my servants who have transgressed against their souls! Do
not despair of Allaah’s Mercy. For Allaah forgives all sins: for He is the
Very Forgiving, the Merciful. Turn in repentance to your Lord, and
submit to Him before the chastisement comes on you. After that you
shall not be helped. And follow the best that which was revealed to you
from your Lord, before the chastisement comes on you, of a sudden
while you do not perceive, lest the soul should (then) say: ‘Ah! Woe is I!
In that I neglected (my duties) towards Allaah, and was but among those
who mocked.’’” (39: 53-56)
AL-‘AFUWWU (The Very Pardoning)
The Holy Qur’an says:
“Verily, Allaah is Very Pardoning, Very Forgiving.” (22: 60)
AT-TAWWAAB (The Acceptor of remorse)
The Holy Qur’an says:
ؒ
“Allaah alone is the Acceptor of Remorse, the Merciful.” (9: 118)
AL-MUQHEET (The Overseer), AR-RAQHEEB (The Guard)
The God must be Overseer and Guard over all things.
The Holy Qur’an says:
1) “Whoever intercedes in a good cause becomes a partner therein; and
whoever recommends and helps in an evil cause, shares in its burden.
And Allaah is Overseer over all things.” (4: 85)
ؒ
2) “Allaah is Guard over all things.” (33: 52)
AS-SAMEE‘ (The All-Hearing), AL-BASEER (The All-Seeing)
The God must be All-Hearing and All-Seeing.
The Holy Qur’an says:
ؒ
1) “Allaah alone is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.” (40: 20)
2) “It is He Who sees all things.” (67: 19)
ؕ
3) “Nothing on earth or in heaven is hidden from Allaah.” (3: 5)
Many people visit shrines and ask the buried one either to solve their
problems or recommend for them with Allaah. Can we make those, who are in
graves, hear us? Let us ask the Holy Qur’an. The Holy Qur’an says:
ۙۙۚ
4) “The blind and the seeing are not alike, nor are the darkness and the
light, nor are the shade and the heat, nor are the living and the dead
alike. Allaah can cause whom He wills to hear Him, but you cannot make
those who are in graves hear you.” (35: 19-22)
AL-‘ALEEM (The All-Knowing, The Omniscient), AL-KHABEER (The All-Aware)
The God must be All-Knowing and All-Aware. The Holy Qur’an says:
1) “Say: ‘Will you worship, besides Allaah, that which has no power
either to harm or to benefit you? And (know that) Allaah alone is the All-
Hearing, the All-Knowing.’” (5: 76)
ؒ
2) “Verily, Allaah is All-Knowing, All-Aware.” (31: 34)
ؒ
3) “Verily, Allaah is All-Knowing of all things.” (8: 75)
ؕ
4) “So, Have Eemaan in Allaah and His Messenger and the Light
which We have sent down. And Allaah is All-Aware of what you do.”
AL-HAKEEM (The All-Wise)
The God must be All-Wise. The Holy Qur’an says:
1) “Your Lord is All-Wise, All-Knowing.” (6: 128)
ؕ
2) “Allaah bears testimony that there is no God but He, and do the
angels and the people of knowledge establishing justice. There is no God
but He, the Omnipotent, the All-Wise.” (3: 18)
AL-LATEEF (The All-Subtle, The Discerning One, The Judicious)
The God must be All-Subtle, Discerning One and Judicious. The Holy Qur’an
says:
ۚ
“Verily, Allaah is All-Subtle, All-Aware.” (22: 63)
Allaah is the Discerning and Judicious One. So, He is Well-Aware of the
consequences of all thoughts and actions.
Allaah is so Subtle that our mind can neither imagine Him nor illustrate
Him.
AL-HAFEEZ (The Caretaker)
The God must be Caretaker. The Holy Qur’an says:
ؒ
“Your Lord is the Caretaker of all things.” (34: 21)
AL-VAKEEL (The Diposer/Organizer of affairs)
The Holy Qur’an says:
ؕ
1) “(Allaah says,) take not other than Me as the Disposer of (your)
affairs.” (17: 2)
ؕ
2) “Allaah is the Organizer of all affairs.” (11: 12)
AL-WALEE (The Protector)
The so-called scholars call Sufis and Saints Auliyaa (pl. of Walee), and ask
common people to offer them all that Allaah alone deserves. Common people
follow these dishonest scholars without seeing what Allaah has told in the Holy
Qur’an and what Prophet Muhammed (s.a.w.s.) said and did. Let us ask the
Holy Qur’an Who the real Walee is.
The God must be Protector. The Holy Qur’an says:
ٞؒ
1) “Have they set up (other) Auliyaa besides Him? Surely, Allaah alone is
the Walee.” (42: 9)
ٞ◌ؒ
2) “Neither on earth nor in heaven will you be able (fleeing) to frustrate
(His plan), nor have you, besides Allaah, any Walee or Helper.” (29: 22)
3) “Do the unbelievers think that they can set up My servants as Auliyaa
besides Me? Verily, We have prepared Hell for the unbelievers for (their)
entertainment.” (18: 102)
ؕ
ؕ
4) “And when one learns something of our Verses, then one takes it in
jest. For such there will be a humiliating chastisement. Hell is behind
them. And whatever they earn shall not avail them, nor shall the Auliyaa
they take besides Allaah. For them is a tremendous chastisement.” (45:
9,10)
5) “And the sinners will have no Walee, nor helper.” (42: 8)
6) “Verily, Allaah will never change the condition of a people until they
change what is in themselves. If Allaah wills to afflict a people with a
misfortune, none can ward it off, nor will they find any Walee besides
Him.” (13: 11)
7) “Protection comes only from Allaah, the True One.” (8: 44)
Al-MAULA (The Guardian)
The God must be Guardian. The Holy Qur’an says:
ؕؒ
“Hold firmly to Allaah! He is your Guardian, the best Guardian, the best
Helper.” (22: 78)
AN-NASEER (The Helper)
The God must be Helper. The Holy Qur’an says:
1) “Did you not know that it is Allaah Who has Sovereignty over the
heavens and the earth? And besides Allaah there is neither any
Protector, nor any Helper to you.” (2: 107)
2) “Those, whom you invoke besides Allaah, are servants like you. Call
on them and let them answer you if what you say is true!” (7: 194)
3) (Say,) “My Protector is Allaah Who revealed the Book. He will befriend
the righteous. And those, whom you invoke besides Him, are not able to
help you, nor can they help themselves.” (7: 196, 197)
4) “If Allaah helps you, none can overcome you; if He abandons you, who
is there, after that, that can help you? In Allaah, then, believers put
their trust.” (3: 160)
ؕ۠
5) “They have set up gods other than Allaah, hoping that they may help
them. They don’t have the Power to help them. Yet their worshippers
stand like warriors ready to defend them.” (36: 74, 75)
AL-KAASHIF (The Remover of afflictions)
The God must be Remover of afflictions. The Holy Qur’an says:
1) “If Allaah afflicts you with a misfortune, none can remove it but He;
and if He bestows on you a favour, none can withhold His Bounty. He
causes it to reach whomsoever, of His servants, He pleases. And He is
the Very Forgiving, the Merciful.” (10: 107)
2) “Say: ‘Nothing will befall on us except what Allaah has written for us:
He is our Guardian and on Allaah, the believers should put their trust.’”
(9: 51)
3) “Say: ‘See you then? The things that you invoke besides Allaah, can
they, if Allaah wills some affliction for me, remove His affliction or if He
wills some Mercy for me, can they withhold His Mercy?’ Say: ‘Allaah is
Sufficient for me! In Him, trust those who put their trust.’” (39: 38)
AL-QHAREEB (The Ever-Near), AL-MUJEEB (The Responsive)
The so-called scholars say to common people, “You common people
cannot make Allaah hear your supplications. So, you need a Waseelah (medium)
to make Him hear your supplications. Sufis and saints are the Waseelah. So you
visit them or their shrines, and try to please them so that they may get ready
to become your Waseelah.” Thus they ask common people to offer them all
that Allaah alone deserves. Do we really need any Waseelah to make Allaah
hear our supplications? Let us ask the Holy Qur’an.
The Holy Qur’an says:
1) “Verily, He is All-Hearing, Ever-Near.” (34: 50)
ؕ
2) “When my servants ask you about Me, (tell them that) I am Near: I
respond to the prayer of the suppliant when he calls Me. Therefore, let
them answer My Call and put their trust in Me, so that they may get the
right Path.” (2: 194)
3) “We have created man and We know what his soul whispers to him.
For We are Nearer to him than (his) jugular vein.” (50: 16)
۠
4) “O men! An aphorism is told! Listen to it! Those, whom you invoke
besides Allaah, cannot create (even) a fly, (even) if they all meet
together for the purpose. And if a fly snatches away anything from them,
they can not retrieve it. Both the suppliant and the one whom he
supplicates are feeble.” (22: 73)
5) “And who is more astray than the one who invokes besides Allaah,
such as will not answer him to the Day of Resurrection, and who are (in
fact) unconscious of their call (to them)? And when mankind are
gathered together (at the Resurrection), they will be hostile to them and
deny that (men) had worshipped them.” (46: 5, 6)
AS-SAADIQUE (The Truthful, The True)
The God must be Truthful. The Holy Qur’an says:
1) “And verily, We are Truthful.” (6: 146)
ؒ
2) “Allaah! There is no God but He. He will indeed gather you on the Day
of Resurrection wherein is no doubt. And who can be more Truthful than
Allaah in statement?” (4: 87)
3) “And who can be more Truthful than Allaah in utterance?” (4: 122)
AL-HUQH (The Truth, The Reality)
The God must be Truth. The Holy Qur’an says:
1) “That is because Allaah alone is the Truth, and those whom they
invoke besides Him are but vain falsehood. Verily, Allaah alone is the
High, the Great.” (22: 62)
2) “And those to whom knowledge has been given will see that what has
been sent down to you from your Lord is the Truth, and that it guides to
the Path of the Almighty, the Praiseworthy.” (34: 6)
3) “And they will realize that Allaah alone is the Truth, the One Who
makes clear.” (24: 25)
4) “And say: ‘Truth has come, and falsehood ran away. For falsehood is
(by its nature) bound to run away.’” (17: 81)
Allaah is the Truth. His existence is not a product of fancy. He is the
Reality. And one’s reason and intellect cannot deny the Reality. The Holy
Qur’an says:
“They (who worship other gods besides Allaah) follow nothing but idle
fancies and preach nothing but falsehood.” (10: 66)
AL-HAADI (The Guide)
The Holy Qur’an says:
1) “Verily, Allaah is the Guide of those who believe, to the right Path.”
(22: 54)
2) “Your Lord suffices as a Guide and Helper.” (25: 31)
3) “He whom Allaah guides is rightly guided, and those whom He leaves
to go astray are the losers.” (7: 178)
4) “Follow that which has been sent down to you from your Lord and do
not follow Auliya (masters) besides Him. But you seldom accept
admonition.” (7: 3)
◌
5) “Indeed the evil-doers follow their own desires being devoid of
knowledge. But who can guide those whom Allaah leaves astray? There
will be no helpers to them. So you set your face truly to the Religion
being upright, the nature in which Allaah has made mankind. No change
(there is) in the work (wrought) by Allaah. That is the true Religion. But
most among mankind don’t know.” (30: 29, 30)
ASH-SHAAKIR (The Repayer of good), ASH-SHAKOOR (The Grateful)
The Holy Qur’an says:
1) “He that does good of his own accord (must know that) Allaah is
Grateful, All-Knowing.” (2: 158)
2) “If any one earns any good, We shall give him an increase of good in
respect thereof. For Allaah is Very Forgiving, Grateful.” (42: 23)
AL-MUNTAQHIM (The Avenger)
The Holy Qur’an says:
ؒ
1) “Who is more wicked than him who passes over the Aayaat (Verses,
Signs) of his Lord when he is reminded of them? We will surely take
vengeance from the sinners.” (32: 22)
2) “The day We shall seize you (sinners) with a mighty onslaught. We will
surely take vengeance.” (44: 16)
ASH-SHADEED (The Strict)
The Holy Qur’an says:
ؕ
“Know that Allaah is Strict in retribution and that Allaah is Very
Forgiving, the Merciful.” (5: 98)
ASH-SHAHEED (The Witness)
The Holy Qur’an says:
1) “Allaah is the Witness over all things.” (22: 17)
2) “He knows all that goes into the earth and all that emerges from it,
all that comes down from the heaven and all that ascends to it. He is
with you wherever you are and Allaah sees all that you do.” (57: 4)
AL-HASEEB (The One Who takes account)
The Holy Qur’an says:
“Allaah is the One Who takes account of all things.” (4: 86)
AL-FATTAAH (The Judge)
The Holy Qur’an says:
1) “Say: ‘Our Lord will gather us together. Then, He will rightly judge
between us. He is the All-Knowing Judge.’” (34: 26)
ؒ
2) “(Allaah) knows the treachery of the eyes, and all that the hearts
conceal and Allaah will judge with the Truth. And those whom they
invoke besides Him, cannot judge anything. Verily, Allaah alone is the
All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.” (40: 19, 20)
ASH-SHAFEE‘ (The Intercessor)
The so-called scholars say to common people, “Sufis and saints are our
intercessors.” So they ask common people to visit them or their shrines, and to
please them offering all that Allaah alone deserves. The Holy Qur’an says:
1) “Who is more wicked than the one who forges a lie against Allaah, or
denies His Aayaat (Verses, Signs, Proofs)? Truly, the criminals will not
triumph. They worship that, besides Allaah, which can neither hurt them
nor profit them and they say: ‘These are our Intercessors before Allaah.’
Say: ‘Do you indeed inform Allaah of something He knows not, in the
heavens or on the earth? Glory to Him! And far is He above the partners
they ascribe (to Him)!” (10: 17, 18)
Let us ask the Qur’an Who the real Intercessor is. The Holy Qur’an says:
2) “Warn those who dread to be assembled before their Lord that they
have neither any Protector, nor any Intercessor besides Allaah, so that
they may guard themselves against evil.” (6: 51)
3) “What! Have they chosen as intercessors others besides Allaah? Say:
‘Even if they have no power whatever and no intelligence?’ Say:
‘Intercession belongs wholly to Allaah. To Him belongs the Sovereignty
of the heavens and the earth. To Him you shall all be brought back.’”
(39: 43, 44)
ؕ
4) “There is neither any supporter nor any intercessor to be heard for
the evil-doers.” (40: 18)
In Ahaadees, we find that Prophet Muhammed (s.a.w.s.) becomes the
intercessor for his Ummaah on the Day of Resurrection. We must know that
the real Intercessor is Allaah as He has all powers of intercession. Prophet
Muhammed (s.a.w.s.) can intercede only after Allaah‘s permission. And he
can make intercession only for those for whom Allaah grants permission.
The Holy Qur’an says:
5) “There is no intercessor except after His permission.” (10: 3)
6) “Intercession will not benefit (any person) with Him except for those
for whom He has granted permission.” (34: 23)
7) “They (Prophets) offer no intercession except for those with whom He
(Allaah) is well-pleased and they stand in awe and reverence of Him.”
(21: 28)
8) “They (Prophets) cannot speak before He (Allaah) speaks. They act by
His Command.” (21: 27)
When the Prophets have so many restrictions in making intercession,
what these sufis and saints, who can neither harm nor benefit themselves,
can do for anyone. It is clear from the above mentioned Verses that only
those people get the intercession with whom Allaah is well-pleased. So,
there is no use in pleasing sufis and saints. If we really want intercession,
we need to please Allaah.
AL-KAAFI (The All-Sufficient)
The Holy Qur’an says:
ۚ
1) “Is not Allaah All-Sufficient for His servant? And they try to frighten
you with others besides Him. There is no Guide for him whom Allaah
leaves to go astray.” (39: 36)
2) “And your Lord suffices as a Guide and Helper.” (25: 31)
ٞۗ◌
3) “Allaah suffices as a Protector and Allaah suffices as a Helper.” (4:
45)
4) “Allaah suffices as an Organizer (of all affairs).” (4: 81)
ؒ
5) “Allaah suffices as a Knower.” (4: 70)
6) “Allaah suffices as a Witness.” (4: 79)
7) “Allaah suffices as an Accountant (of your deeds).” (4: 6)
AL-WAASI‘ (The All-Embracing, The Infinite)
AL-MUHEET (The One Who encompassed all things)
The Holy Qur’an says:
1) “To Allaah belong the east and the west. Whithersoever you turn,
there is Allaah’s Face. Verily, Allaah is Infinite, All-Knowing.” (2: 115)
Allaah’s Being, Attributes, Status and Powers are Infinite. So, He cannot be
conceived in anything. To know, a little bit, the vastness of Allaah’s Being,
Attributes, Status and Powers, we must study the vastness of the universe. The
vastness of the universe found so far by astronomers is as follows:
“There are innumerable clusters of galaxies in the universe. Every cluster
has some to ten thousand galaxies. Each galaxy has one thousand million to
one-lakh million stars. Our sun with its system is just one of those stars. All
stars are different in their size, structure and composition. The size of a galaxy
is so vast that to travel from one end to another end light takes fifty thousand
to one lakh fifty thousand years. You must know that light travels 3lakh
kms/sec. To travel the distance between any two galaxies of a cluster, light
takes 10 lakh to 20 lakh years and the distance between two clusters is 100
times more. To know more about the universe, see the New Encyclopedia
Britannica: -
1) Galaxies in vol. – 19.
2) Stars and star clusters in vol. – 28.
3) Cosmos in Vol. –16.
After knowing the vastness of the universe, one must also know that Allaah
alone is the only Creator, Lord, Inventor, Fashioner, Sovereign, Organizer,
Executant, Caretaker, Overseer, Guard, Guide, Sustainer, Helper, Supporter
and God of the universe.
Many people think that the God resides in everything. So, He can be
conceived in anything or in any form. This instigated them to worship and
invoke every natural thing like trees, rivers, stones, animals et cetera. They
don’t even think that if the God had resided in everything, everything should
have had the same Attributes and Powers that the God has. Everything must
have been Ever-Living, Eternal, All-Powerful, All-Knowing, Independent, Free
of all wants and needs, Free of all defects and weaknesses etc. just like the
God. But we see, besides the God, everything is dependent, has some or other
weaknesses and defects, and will perish. Since the God is Infinite, so it is
simply a foolery to accept the belief that the God is in everything. It is indeed
ridiculous to conceive the Infinite Being in any finite thing or in any finite form.
The Holy Qur’an says:
ؒ
2) “Ah indeed! It is He That encompasses all things.” (41: 54)
3) “His Throne encompassed the heavens and the earth.” (2: 255)
4) “(Say,) My (Allaah’s) Mercy encompassed all things.” (7: 156)
5) “Your God is only Allaah other than Whom there is no God. His
Knowledge encompassed all things.” (20: 98)
AL-AHAD (The Unique, The Inimitable)
The Holy Qur’an says:
ۚ
“Say: ‘He is Allaah, the Unique.’” (112: 1)
Allaah is Unique in His Being, Attributes, Powers, Status and Rights. So He
cannot be conceived in anything or in any form.
When we substantiate that Allaah is the Creator of all things, many people
ask, “If Allaah is the Creator of all things, who is the creator of Allaah?”
They must know that Allaah is not a creature to have a creator. He is the
Creator of all things. So they must know that birth and death, eating and
drinking, sleeping and weeping, keeping wife and bearing children etc., are the
characteristics of creature, not of the Creator. Allaah is Unique. So the Holy
Qur’an says:
“There is nothing like Him.” (42: 11)
So it is wrong to conceive the characteristics of Allaah, the Creator, in any
creation, or the characteristics of any creation in Allaah, the Creator.
Many people think that the God comes in the form of a man or a woman to
save mankind. This is the concept of incarnation. This instigated them to make
idols of reformers, benevolent kings, priests, etc., and instigated them to
worship and invoke the idols. None can be regarded as the incarnation of the
God. Because, if anyone had been the incarnation of the God, he should have
had the Attributes and Powers that the God has. But when we study them, we
find in them the same defects and weaknesses and characteristics that any
common person has. The only differences, we find between common people
and them, are that they are more courageous, hardworking, sacrifising, and
tolerating than common people.
Man has been appointed as a vicegerent of the God on earth. Whatever
work the God wills to do on earth. Either He takes it through man, or He issues
the order, “Be”, and it takes place. So He has no need to come in the form of a
man or a woman or in any other material form to do any work. When no
reasonable man would like to become a pig, a dog or any other animal, how
would Allaah, the All-Wise, like to take the form of His any creation?
Great men must be respected, but the exaggeration in their respect has
always misled people. Some people have played an extraordinary role in human
history, but it does not mean that they are the incarnation of the God. By the
Grace of the God, Scientists have also played an extraordinary role for the
benefits of mankind. They invented devices that transmit our voice, our mails,
our pictures and live events from one part of the world to any other part of the
world within a few seconds. They invented vehicles, computer and other
innumerable things that are useful to the whole of mankind for all ages and
times to come, insha Allaah. But they too cannot be regarded as the
incarnation of the God, because they too have the same defects, weaknesses
and characteristics that any common person has.
Allaah has no material body as we have, because all materials are mortal
and bound to perish, and Allaah is Immortal; every material body is dependent,
and Allaah is Independent; every material body is finite, and Allaah is Infinite;
Climate, nature, time, etc influence material bodies, but nothing can influence
Allaah.
Many people ask, “We find mercy, love, kindness, hearing, seeing, power,
knowledge etc. in human beings too. How can Allaah then be Unique in His
Attributes and Powers?
Allaah is certainly Unique in His Attributes and Powers as He is Unique in His
Being, Status and Rights, because: -
1) Allaah’s Attributes and Powers are His Personal, but the attributes
and powers like mercy, love, kindness, hearing, seeing, power,
knowledge etc. we find in human beings are not their personal, but are
given by Allaah. Allaah is the Source of those attributes and powers. So,
how can we compare Allaah, the Resourceful, with man, the beggar?
2) Allaah’s Attributes and Powers are Infinite and Perfect, but the
attributes and powers given to human beings are finite and imperfect.
3) Allaah’s Attributes and Powers are Immortal and Eternal, but human
beings and all their attributes and powers are mortal.
4) Man needs things to exercise the attributes and the powers, like eyes
to see, ears to hear, et cetera, but Allaah does not need any thing to
exercise His Attributes and Powers. For Allaah is Free of all wants and
needs.
For all these reasons Allaah is Unique in His Attributes and Powers as he is
Unique in His Being, Status and Rights.
AL-HAYYU (The Ever-Living), AL-QHAYYUM (The Eternal, The Perpetual)
The Holy Qur’an says:
1) “He (Allaah) is the Ever-Living. There is no God but He. So call unto
Him making the religion purely for Him. ” (40: 65)
2) “Allaah! There is no God but He, the Ever-Living, the Eternal.” (2:
255)
ؕ
ؒ
3) “Those, whom they invoke besides Allaah, cannot create anything:
they are themselves created. They are dead, not living, nor do they
know when they will be raised up. Your God is One God.” (16: 20-22)
4) “Put your trust in the Ever-Living Who never dies, and glorify with His
praise.” (25: 58)
ؒ
5) “Invoke no other god with Allaah. There is no God but He. Everything
(that exists) will perish except His Being. His is the Command and to Him
you shall return.” (28: 88)
6) “(Allaah says,) and verily, it is We Who give life and death. We are
the Heir.” (15: 23)
AL-AWWALU (The First), AL-AAKHIRU (The Last)
AZ-ZAAHIRU (The Evident), AL-BAATINU (The Unseen)
The Holy Qur’an says:
“He is the First and the Last, and (He is) the Evident and the Unseen.”
(57: 3)
AL-AWWALU (The First) means when there was nothing, there was Allaah.
AL-AAKHIRU (The Last) means when there will be nothing, there will be
Allaah. It means when everything perishes, He will not perish. He will be as He
was. The Holy Qur’an says:
ؒ
“Everything will perish except His Being, His is the Command and to Him
you shall return.” (28: 88)
He is the First and the Last also may mean that Allaah is the First and the
Last in His Being, Attributes, Powers, Status and Rights.
AZ-ZAAHIRU (The Evident) means every thing in the universe testifies that
it came into existence in the form it is, because Allaah brought it into
existence. Thus Allaah is Evident. But no one has seen Him. Therefore, He is
the Unseen (AL-BAATINU).
AL – WAAHID (The One)
The Holy Qur’an says:
ۚ
1) “There is no God but Allaah, the One, the Irresistible.” (38:65)
ۙ
2) “Allaah does not have any son, nor is there any God along with Him.
(If there were many gods) each would have taken away what he had
created and some would have rushed to overpower the other. Glory to
Allaah! (He is Free) from the (sort of) things they (polytheists) attribute
to Him.” (23: 91)
3) “Say: ‘If there had been (other) gods with Him as they (polytheists)
say, they (gods) would certainly have sought out a way to dethrone the
Lord of the Throne. Glory to Him! He is High above all that they
(polytheists) say! Exalted and Grand (beyond measure)!’” (17: 42, 43)
4) “If there were, in the both (heavens and the earth), other gods
besides Allaah, there would have been disorder in both. But Glory to
Allaah, the Lord of the Throne! (High is He) above what they
(polytheists) attribute to Him.” (21: 22)
5) “That is Allaah, your Lord. There is no God but He, the Creator of all
things. Therefore, worship Him. And He is the Disposer of all affairs.” (6:
102)
6) “Those that worship other gods besides Allaah follow nothing but idle
fancies and preach nothing but falsehood.” (10: 66)
Al-Ilaah (the God, the One Worthy to be worshipped)
The Holy Qur’an says:
1) “Your God is only Allaah other than Whom there is no God. (20: 98)
2) “That is Allaah, your Lord. There is no God but He, the Creator of all
things. Therefore, worship Him.” (6: 102)
3) “They make their clerics and their monks and the Christ, the son of
Mary, lords besides Allaah although they had been ordered to worship
only One God. There is no God but He. Exalted be He above those whom
they associate (with Him).” (9: 31)
ؒ
4) “(O Muhammed!) Say: ‘I am but a man like yourselves, (but) the
Inspiration has come to me that your God is one God. He, who expects to
meet his Lord, should do righteous deeds and must not associate anyone
in the worship of his Lord.’” (18: 110)
The Exclusive Rights of the God on His Creation
Allaah created man and provided him with all that he needs to survive and
grow. So, there are some exclusive Rights of Allaah on man. They are as
follows:
The first and foremost Right of Allaah on man is that man should believe in
Him, and should acknowledge His Authority and associate none with Him in His
Being, Attributes, Powers and Status.
The second Right of Allaah on man is that man should worship and invoke
Him alone and associate none with Him in His worship and invoke none other
than Him because we, our life, our needs, our livelihood, our future, our fate
and our affairs all depend on Him.
The third Right of Allaah on man is that man should accept and follow
wholeheartedly His Guidance in all walks of life.
These three Rights are exclusive for Allaah alone. If someone discharges any
of these Rights for any other than Allaah, it clearly means that he equalized
the other with Allaah: he equalized a creation with the Creator. And Islam
considers it as the biggest and unforgivable sin. Allaah says:
“Verily, Allaah will not forgive (the sin of) joining others with Him.” (4:116)
A Misconception and its Clarification
The enemies of Islam try to spread misconceptions about Islam. One such
misconception is that they say, “Allaah is the Name of the moon-god.” Subhaan
Allaahi wa bihamdihi. The Qur’an answers it:
1) “And of His Signs are the night and the day, and the sun and the moon.
Do not prostrate yourselves before the sun, nor before the moon, but
prostrate yourselves before Allaah Who created them, if it is Him that
you worship.” (41: 37)
This verse of the Holy Book alone is enough to clarify the misconception
that Allaah is not the moon-god. Allaah is the Creator of the moon, the sun
and the entire Universe. Moon is just a creation of Allaah and was made for
the service of mankind:
ؕ
ۙ
2) “He has subjected for you the night and the day and the sun and the
moon and the stars have also been made subservient by His command.
Surely there are Signs in this for those who use their reason.” (16: 12)
3) “Have you not seen that all those who are in the heavens and all those
who are in the earth prostrate themselves before Allaah; and so do the
sun and the moon, and the stars and the mountains, and the trees, and
the beasts ,and so do many human beings.” (78: 18) (do sajdah to Allaah)
ۙ
4) “And the moon is eclipsed.” (75: 8)
5) “The Hour of Resurrection drew near and the moon split asunder.” (54:
1)
Even the polytheists of Makkah never worshipped the moon. The Qur’an
says:
If you were to ask them (the polytheists: “Who created the heavens and the earth
and Who has kept the sun and the moon in subjection?” they will certainly say:
“Allaah.” (29: 61)
The Qur’an is from Allaah, the Creator, Lord and God of the
Universe
The Qur’an gives prophecies which prove that the Holy Qur’an is
from Allaah, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise.
1. The Sources of Islam are Safe and Intact
Allaah says in the Holy Qur’an:
“It is We Who have sent down the Guidance (the Qur’an), and
certainly, We are its Guradian.” (15:9)
Allaah has been guarding the Qur’an as said in the above-
mentioned Verse for more than fourteen centuries now. So we see,
even after fourteen centuries, that the Qur’an is as intact as it was
fourteen centuries ago. We would find no interpolation in the Qur’an. It
has been existing in its original text for over 14 centuries now without
a word, syllable or even letter having been changed. The Qur’an is the
only Book, in the world, that is preserved for so long time and
continues to be preserved.
One point must be noted here that the Holy Books of all other
religions are not present in their original text today. They are but
interpolated and corrupted translations. So, one can not take risk of
relying on them.
2. Big Bang theory
The Big Bang theory which was found out recently in 20th
century
was stated in the Qur’an some fourteen centuries ago. Allaah says in
the Qur’an:
“Did the disbelievers not see that the heavens and the earth were one solid
mass, then We tore them apart?” (21:30)
Is this not enough to prove that the Qur’an is from Allaah, the All-
Knowing?
3. The Origin of Living Beings
Allaah says in the Holy Qur’an:
“We have made every living thing from water. Will they not believe,
then?” (21:30)
Our latest knowledge, in biological science, points that protoplasm
is the original basis of all living matter in the physical world. And one
must know that the constitution of protoplasm is about 80 to 85 per
cent of water, and protoplasm is in a state of constant flux and
instability that is the nature of water.
Is this not enough to prove that the Qur’an is from Allaah?
4. The Formation of Sex
Not only by common people, but also in the medical world, it
had been thought that mother was responsible for the sex of
the newborn baby. Only recently, after the discovery of
chromosomes, the medical world came to know that the sex of
a newborn is determined by the sperm that fertilizes the ovum.
If the sperm carrying an X-chromosome fertilizes an ovum that
always contains X-chromosomes, the child will be a girl; while if
the fertilizing sperm contain Y-chromosomes, the child will be a
boy, insha Allaah.
The Holy Qur’an has stated this fact more than once, before
anybody knew anything about X and Y-chromosomes. It says:
ؕ
1. “And of him (man), He (Allaah) made sexes, the male and
the female.” (75: 39)
ۙ
2. “Allaah created both male and female from a drop of fluid
(not entire fluid) that has been ejaculated.” (53: 45, 46)
Allaah says:
“Do they not ponder on the Qur’an? If it had been from any
other than Allaah, they would surely have found in it much
inconsistency.”
5. The Nature of Water
The Holy Qur’an says:
“It is He (Allaah) Who has let free the two bodies of flowing
water: the one palatable and sweet, and the other salt and
bitter. Yet He has made a barrier between them, a partition that
is not to be passed.” (25:53)
Abdullaah Yusuf ‘Ali says in the commentary of this Verse:
“There are two bodies of water, viz.: 1) The great salt ocean,
and 2) the bodies of sweet water fed by rain, whether they are lakes,
rivers or underground springs. Their source in rain makes them one,
and their drainage, whether above-ground or underground eventually
to the ocean, also makes them one. They are free to mingle, and in a
sense they do mingle, for there is a regular water cycle and the rivers
flow constantly to the sea, and tidal rivers get seawater for several
miles up their estuaries at high tide. Yet in spite of all this, the laws of
gravitation are like a barrier or partition set by Allaah, by which the
two bodies of water as a whole are always kept apart and distinct. In
the case of rivers carrying large quantities of water to the sea, like the
Mississippi or the Yangtsekiang, the river-water with its silt remains
distinct from seawater for a long distance out at sea. But the
wonderful Sign is that the two bodies of water, though they pass
through each other, remain distinct bodies, with their distinct
functions. Thus this Verse points to a fact which has only recently been
discovered by Science.”
6. The Dead Body of Fir’oun
In 1235 B.C., when Fir‘oun (Ramsess II) had drowned in the Red
Sea while following Prophet Moosa (peace be upon him) and his
companions through it, the Holy Qur’an says Allaah had said to
Fir‘oun:
ؒ
“This day We shall save your body, that you may be a Sign to
those who come after you. But certainly, many among mankind
are heedless of our Signs.” (10: 92)
When this Verse of the Holy Qur’an revealed to Muhammed
(s.a.w.s.), no one knew that the dead body of Fir‘oun (Ramsess II) has
been preserved in the Red Sea. It was in 1881 A.D. that the dead body
of Fir‘oun was found in the Red Sea. It can be seen even today with
the Royal mummies in the Egyptian Museum in Egypt. It must be
noted that the dead body of Fir‘oun is not a mummy. It means nothing
has been used to preserve it. It is preserved naturally. Is this not
enough to prove that the Qur’an is from Allaah?
7. The Khilafah
The Holy Qur’an says:
۠
“Allaah has promised, to those among you who believe and did
righteous deeds, that He will surely make them successor in the
land as He made those before them, that He will establish for
them their Religion – the One which He has chosen for them,
and that He will change (their state), after the fear in which they
are, to one of security and peace: ‘They will worship Me (alone)
and not associate with Me anything.’ If any do reject Faith after
this, they are violators.” (24: 55)
Abdullaah Yusuf ‘Ali says in the commentary of this Verse:
“Three things have been promised here to those who have Faith
and obey Allaah’s Law: (1) that they will inherit power and authority in
land, not for any selfish purposes of theirs nor by way of favouritism,
but in order that they may maintain Allaah’s Law, (2) that the Religion
of Right, which Allaah has chosen for them, will be openly established,
and will suppress all wrong and oppression, (3) that the righteous will
live in peace and security, instead of having to suffer persecution, or
leave their hearths and homes for the cause of Allaah, or practise the
rites of their Faith in secret.”
Prophet Muhammed (s.a.w.s.) and his companions believed firmly
in Allaah and did righteous deeds sincerely. All promises of Allaah
came true to them. They had nothing. Allaah gave them the charge of
whole of Arabia. They continued to be sincere to Allaah. Allaah made
them defeat the then super powers, Rome and Persia, and made them
the then super power, but latter generations left the Guidance of
Allaah and began to follow their own desires and fancies. So, they
became among the losers.
Is this not enough to prove that the Qur’an is from Allaah, the All-
Knowing, the All-Powerful?
8. The Dead Sea
When the people of Prophet Loot (peace be upon him) had not
abstained from evils and crimes despite of admonition, the Holy Qur’an
says that Allaah had said:
“Certainly, We are going to send down on the people of this
township a punishment from the heaven, because they have
been wickedly rebellious. And We have left thereof an evident
Sign for any people who understand.” (29: 34, 35)
The punishment was a rain of brimstone, which completely
overwhelmed the cities, with possibly an earthquake and a volcanic
eruption. Because of this, the whole tract on the east side of the Dead
Sea (where the cities were situated) is covered with sulphurous salts
and is deadly to animal and plant life. So no living beings exist in the
Dead Sea. Moreover, the water of the Dead Sea is eight times saltier
than the water of any other sea. Therefore, its density is so high that
the person, who lies on it, does not drown. This is the evident Sign
that can be seen even today.
Is this not enough to prove that the Qur’an is from Allaah, the All-
Knowing, the All-Powerful?
9. The Expansion of the Universe
The expansion of the universe is a discovery of modern science,
But the Holy Qur’an had informed man about this fact more than
fourteen centuries ago. Allaah says in the Holy Qur’an:
“The heaven, We have built it with Power. And certainly, We are
expanding it.” (51: 47)
Is this not enough to prove that the Qur’an is from Allaah, the All-
Knowing, the All-Powerful?
10. Man’s Knowledge of Science
Science is the systematic study of an object. The Holy Qur’an had
informed us some 14 centuries ago that Allaah has taught science to
man, and man is the most developed creature in Science. Read the
following Verses of the Qur’an:
۠
۠
۠
“Behold, thy Lord said to the angels, ‘I will create a viceroy on
the earth.’ They said: ‘Will You place therein one who will make
mischief therein and shed blood? While we do celebrate Thy
praises and glorify Thy Holy (Name)?’ He said: ‘I know what you
know not.’ And He taught Adam the names of things. Then
He placed them before the Angels, and said: ‘Tell Me the names
of these if you are truthful.’ They said: ‘Glory to Thee! of
knowledge, we have none, save what You have taught us. In
truth, it is You Who is Perfect in knowledge and wisdom.’ He
said: ‘O Adam! Tell them their names.’ When he told them
their names, Allaah said: ‘Did I not tell you that I know the
secrets of the heavens and the earth, and I know what you
reveal and what you conceal?’ And behold! We said to the angels
‘Bow down to Adam.’ And they bowed down, not so Iblees. He
refused and was haughty. He was of those who reject Faith.”
(2: 30-34)
According to commentators, “The names of things” means the inner
nature and qualities of things.
Today we see the truthfulness of these Verses of the Qur’an. The
developments made by man in the field of science and technology are
so obvious that none can deny them. Moreover, the developments of
man indicate that man, in the real sense, is worthy to be a viceroy of
Allaah on the earth.
Is this not enough to prove that the Qur’an is from Allaah, the All-
Knowing, the All-Powerful?
11. The Presence of Orbits
Allaah says in the Holy Qur’an:
“It is He (Allaah) Who created the night and the day, and the sun and the
moon. Each is floating in its orbit.” (21: 33)
“It is not for the sun to catch up the moon, nor does the night outstrip the day,
Each is floating in its orbit.” (36: 40)
The discovery of orbits is a recent development, but the Qur’an
informs about it some 1400 years ago.
Is this not enough to prove that the Qur’an is from Allaah, the All-
Knowing, the All-Powerful?
12. The Nature of the Sun and the Moon
“It is He who made the sun Dhia (luminous) and the moon as a light and
measured out its (their) stages, that you might know the number of years and the
account. Allaah did not create this but with the Truth. He explains the Aayaat
(proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) in detail for a people
who have knowledge.” (10: 5)
“And He has made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp?” (71: 16)
Only recently scientists came to know that the sun is self-luminous body and the
moon is a reflecting body, but this fact is mentioned in the Qur’an more than
once some fourteen hundred years ago.
Do you still need proofs to accept the Qur’an is from Allaah?
13. The Challenge
Allaah says in the Holy Qur’an:
a) “Say: ‘If mankind and jinns gather to produce the like of this
Qur’an, they cannot produce the like thereof, even if they back
up each other with help and support.’” (17: 88)
b) “Or they may say: ‘He (Prophet Muhammed) forged it (the Holy
Qur’an).’ Say: ‘Bring you then ten Suras (chapters) forged like
unto it, and call (to your aid) whomsoever you can other than
Allaah if you are truthful! If then they do not answer, know that
this Revelation is sent down (replete) with Knowledge of Allaah,
and there is no God but He! Will you then submit to Islam?” (11:
13, 14)
c) “If you are in doubt as to what We have revealed to our
servant [Muhammed(s.a.w.s.)], then produce a Sura (chapter)
like there unto and call witnesses or helpers besides Allaah, if
you are truthful. But if you cannot and certainly you can never
(produce such a thing) then guard yourselves against the fire
whose fuel is men and stones, prepared for the disbelievers.”
(2:23, 24)
Allaah says to those, who think that the Qur’an has been forged by
Prophet Muhammed (s.a.w.s.), to produce ten chapters or at least one
chapter that must be as influential, effective, terse, informative, true,
moderate, beautiful and attractive as the Qur’anic chapters are.
So far, many people tried to meet this challenge of the Holy Qur’an,
but failed. This proves that the Holy Qur’an is not a fabricated material
of any creature. It is, in fact, from Allaah, the God of all things.
These were the some Signs and Prophecies of the Holy Qur’an. If
someone really wants to see more Signs and Prophecies of the Holy
Qur’an, he must study the Holy Qur’an.
The Whole Universe is a Muslim and follows Islam
The Meaning of Islam and Muslim: Islam is an Arabic word. It is
derived from two root words: one Silm meaning Submission and the
other Salm meaning Peace and Safety. Islam stands for a Commitment
to surrender one’s will to the Will, Laws and Commands of Allaah, the
Creator of the universe. It is through submission to the Will of Allaah
that peace and safety is brought about. The one who surrender one’s
will to the Will, Laws and Commands of Allaah, will be regarded as a
Muslim. The one who denies to surrender one’s will to the Will, Laws
and Commands of Allaah, and follow his own desires and fancies or
one’s ancestors’ desires and fancies will be regarded as a Kaafir.
In short, Islam is a set of the Laws of the Creator of the universe.
Muslim is the one who follows the Laws of the Creator. And Kaafir is
the one who rejects the Laws of the Creator.
If you keep the meaning of Islam and Muslim in your mind and
ponder on the universe, insha Allaah, you will realize that everything
in the universe is following the Laws of the Creator of the universe i.e.
Islam. The earth, the planets, the Sun, the moon, the stars and all the
heavenly bodies follow the Laws of the Creator Who created them and
they make not even the slightest deviation from their ordained
courses. Similarly, everything on the earth follows the Laws of the
Creator. Air, water, stones, fire, plants, animals, etc. – all follow the
Laws of the Creator. As the whole of creation obeys the Law of the
Creator, therefore, the whole universe literally follows the Religion
Islam – for Islam signifies nothing but obedience and submission to
Allaah, the Creator of the universe. Therefore, everything, from the
tiniest atom to the magnificent galaxies of the heavens, in the
universe is a ‘Muslim’ for it obeys the Creator by submission to His
Laws. The Qur’an says:
1) “To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth. All are
obedient to Him.” (2: 116)
2) “Do they seek other than the Deen (Law, Religion) of Allaah?
While all those that are in the heaven and the earth are, willingly
or unwillingly, in submission to Him and to Him shall they all be
brought back.” (3: 83)
Man has two aspects: (1) Structural and (2) Functional.
As far as man’s structure is concerned, man is bound to follow
the Laws of the Creator. Man’s birth, growth and life are all regulated
by biological Laws set by the Creator. All the organs of his body, from
the smallest tissues to the heart and the brain, even cells and their
contents are all governed by the Laws prescribed for them by the
Creator. The digestive system, the circulatory system, the
reproductive system, the respiratory system are all governed by the
Laws prescribed for them by the Creator. In his structure, man finds
himself totally regulated by the Divine Law. Like other creatures, he is
completely caught in the grip of the physical Laws of nature set by the
Creator and is bound to follow them. Therefore every man is a Muslim
as far as his structure is concerned. Even those who deny the
existence of the Creator or who deny to follow the Creator in their
functional aspect are also Muslims as far as their structure is
concerned, because their bodies follow the Laws of the Creator.
Therefore, we see that doctors prescribe the same medicine for fever
to all the patients of different faiths, because they know very well that
the bodies of all human beings work according to the same Laws.
Therefore there is only one Creator of all human beings.
As far as man’s functional aspect is concerned, Sayyed Maudoodi
says: “Man has been endowed with reason and intellect. He has power
to think and form judgments, to choose and reject, to approve and
spurn. He is free to adopt whatever course of life he chooses. He can
embrace any faith, and live by any ideology he likes. He may prepare
his own code of conduct or accept one formulated by others. Unlike
other creatures, he has been given freedom of thought, choice and
action. In short, man has been bestowed with freewill.
Both the aspects exist side by side in man’s life. In the first, he, like
all other creatures, is a born Muslim, invariably obeying the
Injunctions of God, and is bound to remain one. As far as the second
aspect is concerned, he is free to become or not to become a Muslim.
It is the way of a person exercises this freedom, which divides
mankind into two groups: believers and non-believers. An individual,
who chooses to acknowledge his Creator, accepts Him as his real
Master, honestly and scrupulously submits to His Laws and Injunctions
and follows the code. He has achieved completeness in his Islam by
consciously deciding to obey God in the domain in which he was
endowed with freedom of choice. He is a perfect Muslim: his
submission of his entire self to the Will of Allaah is Islam and nothing
but Islam.
He has now consciously submitted to Him Whom he had already
been unconsciously obeying. He voluntarily as well as involuntarily
obeys the Laws of One God – the Lord of the universe. Now he is at
peace with the whole universe for he worships Him Whom the whole
universe worships. Such a man is God’s vicegerent on the earth. The
whole world is for him and he is for God.” (Towards understanding
Islam Pg. 17-19)
Suppose, if Allaah had given freewill to His other creations as He
has given freewill to man, and some of his creations had become
Kaafirs as many of men have become, can you imagine what would
have happened in the universe?
Suppose, if the earth had denied following the Laws of the
Creator, and if it had followed its own wishes, the existence of the
earth and the life of man on the earth would have become impossible.
If the earth had moved near the sun leaving its orbit, we would have
been burnt alive, and the earth would have exploded; if the earth had
moved away from the sun leaving its orbit, we would have been dead
because of the unbearable temperature and movements. We are living
peacefully, because everything in the universe is following the Laws of
the Creator of the universe i.e. Islam (Peace and Submission). Just
imagine what happens to us when the earth jerks i.e. when the
earthquake takes place by Allaah’s Permission. The same thing
happens when a man becomes a Kaafir. He harms himself both in this
world and in the hereafter.
Therefore, if man wants to achieve complete peace both in this
world and in the hereafter, he will have to follow the Laws of the
Creator.
Islam is the Religion of All Prophets
A misconception, that Prophet Muhammed (s.a.w.s.) is the
founder of Islam, is being spread to give an impression that Islam is
a new religion, and its founder is Prophet Muhammed (s.a.w.s.),
although Islam is there right from the birth of Adam. It is the Religion
of all the Prophets of Allaah. Prophet Muhammed (s.a.w.s.) has not
founded any new religion. He, in fact, taught people the same Religion
that had been preached by all the past Messengers of Allaah. The Holy
Qur’an bears witness over it:
1) “The same Religion He (Allaah) has established for you as
that which He enjoined on Noah – which We have sent by
inspiration to you – and that which We enjoined on Ibraaheem,
Moosa, and ‘Eesa, so that you should establish the Religion and
make no divisions therein.” (42: 13)
2) “Say you (O Prophet Muhammed (s.a.w.s.)!): ‘We believe in
Allaah and the Revelation given to us and to Ibraaheem,
Isma‘eel, Is-haaque, Ya’qhoob and the Tribes, and that given to
Moosa and ‘Eesa, and that given to (all other) Prophets from
their Lord. We make no difference between one and another of
them and we submit to Allaah. If they (people) believe as you
believe, they are indeed on the right Path; but if they turn back,
it is they who are in schism; but Allaah will suffice you as against
them, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.” (2: 136, 137)
3) “(O Muhammed!) Nothing is said to you that was not said to
the Messengers before you.” (41: 43)
4) “To you (O Muhammed!) We sent the Scripture with the
Truth, confirming the Scripture that came before it and guarding
it in safety. So judge among them by what Allaah has revealed
and follow not their desires, diverging the Truth that has come to
you.” (5: 48)
5) “Muhammed is the Messenger of Allaah and the last of the
Prophets.” (33: 40)
All these Verses of the Holy Qur’an clearly manifest that Prophet
Muhammed (s.a.w.s.) is not the founder of Islam, but he is the final
Messenger of Islam. These also prove that Islam is not a new religion;
it is the Religion of all the Prophets.
The Story of Salman, Al-Farsi - the Greatest
Researcher of all times.
This is the story of the pious and intellectual Salman, the Persian. He grew up
in the town of Isfahan in Persia, in the village of Jayyan. His father was the
Dihqan (chief) of the village. He was the richest person there and had the
biggest house. His father loved him, more than he loved any other. As time
went by, his love for Salman became so strong and overpowering that he feared
to lose him or have anything happen to him. So he kept him at home, a virtual
prisoner, in the same way that young girls were kept.
Salman became devoted to the Magian religion, so much so that he attained
the position of custodian of the fire, which they worshipped. His duty was to
see that the flames of the fire remained burning and that it did not go out for a
single hour, day or night.
Salman’s father had a vast estate, which yielded an abundant supply of crops.
He himself looked after the estate and gathered harvest. One day as he went
about his duties as Dihqan of the village, he said to Salman, “My son, as you
see, I am too busy to go out to the estate now. Go and look after matters there
for me today.”
On the way to the estate, Salman passed a Christian church and heard voices
raised in prayer, which attracted his attention. He did not know anything about
Christianity or, for that matter, about the followers of any other religion. His
father had kept him in the house away from people. When he heard the voices
of the Christians, he entered the church to see what they were doing. He was
impressed by their manner of praying and felt drawn to their religion. He said,
“This religion is better than ours. I shall not leave them until the sunsets.”
Salman's inclination to Christianity
Salman asked about and was told that the Christian religion originated in Syria.
He did not go to his father’s estate that day. And at night, he returned home.
His father met him and asked where he had been. Salman told him about his
meeting with the Christians and how he was impressed by their religion. His
father was dismayed and said: “My son, there is nothing good in that religion.
Your religion and the religion of your forefathers is better.”
“No, their religion is better than ours,” he insisted. His father became upset
and afraid that Salman would leave their religion. So he kept Salman locked up
in the house and shackled his feet. Salman managed to send a message to the
Christians, asking them to inform him of any caravans going to Syria. Before
long they contacted him with the information he wanted. He broke the fetters
and escaped his father’s estate to join the caravan to Syria. When he reached
Syria, he asked regarding the leading person in the Christian religion and was
directed to the bishop of the church. He went up to him and said: “I want to
become a Christian and would like to attach myself to your service, learn from
you and pray with you.”
The bishop agreed and Salman entered the church in his service. Salman soon
found out, however, that the bishop was corrupt. He would order his followers
to give money in charity while holding out the promise of blessings to them.
When they gave the bishop anything to spend in the way of Allah, he would
hoard it for himself and not give anything to the poor or needy. In this way, he
amassed a vast quantity of gold. When the bishop died and the Christians
gathered to bury him, Salman told them of his corrupt practices and, at their
request, showed them where the bishop had kept their donations. When they
saw the large jars filled with gold and silver they said, “By Allah, we shall not
bury him.” They nailed him on a cross and threw stones at him. Not long after,
the local people appointed another man in place of the first. Salman stayed on,
in the service of this person who replaced him. The new bishop was a pious
who longed for the Hereafter and engaged in worship day and night.
Salman was devoted to him and spent much of the time in his company.
Before he passed away, Salman said to him, “O so and so Priest! The time has
come for you to witness Allah Ta'ala's decision (meaning death). I swear by
Allah, I have never loved anyone as much as I have loved you! So what would
you instruct me to do? And who can you recommend for me to see?”
He replied, “O son! I do not know of anyone except for a certain man living in
the city of Mosul. Go to him, for you will find that he is similar to me.”
A short while after he passed away, Salman arrived at Mosul and found the
priest he had been sent to, and indeed, he was very much like the one before
him in terms of simplicity and striving. After he passed away, Salman was
referred to another priest who in turn sent him to a priest in Ammuriyah
(Ameria, near Rome), before his demise. Salman stayed by this Roman priest,
and decided to make a living. Eventually he managed to acquire some sheep
and cows.
When his death was near, Salman asked him for his advice just as he had asked
those before him. He said: “There is nobody following our ways of life I can
send you to. Nevertheless, your life seems to coincide with the era of the
predestined Prophet who will arise from the Haram. His migration will be to a
city full of date trees. Moreover, he will certainly have some distinct features:
Between his shoulder blades, there will be the Seal of the Prophethood. He will
eat food given as a gift, and he shall not eat from charity. If you can reach that
city, then do so, because you are very close to his era.”
Salman's inclination to the Arabs and Islam
A group of Arab leaders from the Kalb tribe passed through Ammuriyah.
Salman asked them to take him with them to the land of the Arabs, in return
for whatever money he had. They agreed to take him along. When they
reached Wadi al-Qura (a place between Syria and Madinah), the Arabs broke
their agreement and made him a slave, then sold Salman to a Jew.
Salman worked as a servant for him. The Jew eventually sold him to a nephew
of his, belonging to the tribe of Banu Qurayzah. This nephew took Salman with
him to Yathrib, the city of palm groves, which is how the Christian at
Ammuriyah had described it.
At that time, the Prophet was inviting his people in Makkah to Islam but
Salman did not know of this because of the harsh duties slavery imposed upon
him. When the Prophet reached Yathrib after his hijrah from Makkah,
Salman was on top of a palm tree doing some work. Salman’s master was
sitting under the tree. A nephew of Salman’s master came up and said, ‘May
Allah destroy the Aws and the Khazraj (the two main Arab tribes of Yathrib). By
Allah, they are now gathering at Quba to meet a man, who has just arrived
from Makkah and who claims to be a Prophet.’
Salman felt light-headed upon hearing these words and began to shiver so
violently that he had to climb down, in fear that he may fall. He quickly swung
down from the tree and spoke to his master’s nephew.
“What did you say? Repeat the news for me.”
Salman’s master grew angry at this breach of protocol and struck him a terrible
blow. “What does this matter to you? Go back to what you were doing,” he
shouted.
Salman himself narrates:
I left the house for a while, making inquiries. I asked a woman I met from the
city whose entire family had become Muslim. She showed me the way to the
Prophet.
When it was evening, I took some food with me and went to the Prophet. The
Prophet was in Quba at that time. I said, “Word has reached me that you are a
very pious man, and that you have some travellers in your company. I had
some charity and thought that you would be most deserving of it. This is it;
you may have some of it.” The Prophet withdrew his own hand, not eating
from it, but told his Companions to eat. At that time, I thought, “This is one
of the characteristics my Mentor told me of.”
On my way back, I saw that the Prophet was heading to Madinah . Thus, I took
the food to him, saying, “I saw that you were not eating from this charity. As
a matter of fact, I presented it as a gift and not charity.” This time, the
Prophet also ate with his Companions. “That makes two signs,” I thought.
Later on, I approached the Prophet as he was walking behind the corpse in a
funeral. I remember that at that time, he was covered in two sheets, and that
his Companions were with him.
I was trying to steal a look at the Seal on his back, when the Prophet saw me
glancing. Realising that I wanted to verify what someone had told me, he let
his cloak drop a little, and I managed to see that the Seal between his
shoulder blades was exactly the way my Mentor had described it. I hugged the
Prophet (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam)from the back kissing (his blessed seal)
and started to cry. The Holy Prophet said, “O Salman! Reveal your story.”
So I sat in front of him, relating my story to him and hoping that his
Companions could also hear it. When I had finished, the Prophet said, “O
Salman! Make a deal with your owner to free you.”
Consequently, my master did agree to free me, but in exchange for the
following: “Three hundred date trees, as well as one thousand, six hundred
silver coins.” Hence, the Sahaba (Radhi Allaahu ‘anhum) helped by providing
around twenty to thirty date plants each, and a tenth of every man's land in
accordance to how much he owned. The Prophet (SallAllaahu ‘alaihi wa
sallam) said to me, “Dig a hole for each date-plant. When you are finished, let
me know so that I can personally fix all the date-plants into place with my
own hands.” Thus, with the help of my friends, I dug holes wherever the date-
plants were to be put.
Later on, the Prophet came. We stood by his side holding the plants as he
fixed them into the ground. I swear by The Being Who sent the Prophet with
the Truth, not a single plant died out.
Nevertheless, I still had the silver to pay. A man came to the Prophet bringing
from the mines some gold which was roughly the size of a pigeon's egg. The
Prophet said, “O Salman! Take this and pay off whatever you have to.”
I replied, “O Messenger of Allah! How will this be enough for my debt?”
He said, “Allah will surely make it sufficient for your debt.”
As a result to this statement, I swear By Allah, it outweighed the one
thousand, six hundred coins. I not only paid off my dues, but what I had left
with me was equivalent to what I had given them.
The strict honesty of the Prophet was one of the characteristics that led
Salman to believe in him and accept Islam. Salman was released from slavery
by the Prophet, who paid his Jewish master a stipulated price, and who himself
planted an agreed number of date palms to secure Salman’s manumission.
After accepting Islam, Salman would say when asked whose son he was, ‘I am
Salman, the son of Islam from the children of Adam.’
Conclusion
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We have not been created futile; we have been created with a specific
purpose. Allaah says:
1) “So Did you think that We created you without any purpose, and that
you will not be brought back to Us?” (23: 115)
2) “I have not created the Jinn and the human beings, but that they
may worship Me.”
If we do not meet the purpose of our life, our life is futile. Any thing
has its value as long as it fulfills its purpose of creation, for instance:
computers, mobiles, vehicles, etc. we keep them and safeguard them as
long as they are useful, in other words, as long as they fulfill their
purpose of existence. As soon as they become useless, we throw them
into scrap. The same is true in case of us too. We may be thrown into
hell by our Lord if we do not fulfill the purpose of our life. So to meet
the purpose of your life, you need to find the True God and the True
Religion. Do not take it in jest, or your life may become ridiculous.
You can find the truthfulness of Islam over other religion through only
one fact that Islam alone asks you to worship only the Creator, whereas
all other religions ask you to worship creatures/creations along with the
creator. This fact alone is enough to find the truthfulness of Islam and
the falsehood of other religions.
There is no meaning in worshipping false gods and following false
religions. No! No creation or creature can be god, because they have
same weaknesses and same defects as other creation or creatures have.
O man! Remind yourself your position among all creation and creatures.
Allaah has made you Khalifa (viceroy) on the earth. Allaah says:
3) "I am going to appoint (Man as) a viceroy on the Earth". (2: 30)
O Man! Remember you are superior to all creations. All creations have
been created to serve you:
4) “He it is Who created for you all that is on the Earth.” (2: 29)
ؕ
ۙ
5) “He has subjected for you the night and the day and the sun and the
moon, and the stars have also been made subservient by His command.
Surely there are Signs in this for those who use their reason.” (16: 12)
ؕ۠
6) “He has subjected for you all that is in the heavens and the earth,
from Him. Verily there are Signs in this for those who reflect.”
Not just this, to show your superiority over other creations, Allaah has
asked angels to bow down before Man:
7) “Then, We commanded the angels, ‘Bow yourselves to Adam.’ All
bowed but Iblis.”
Remember! You are superior to all creations. All creations are
inferior to you. The only Being superior to you is Allaah, your Lord and
God. So worship Him alone. If you believe in Allaah and do righteous
deeds, you will retain your position and remain the best creature; if you
reject faith in Allaah, you will become the worst creature:
ؕؕ
8. “Those who disbelieved – be they from among the People of the Book or
among those who associated others with Allaah – shall be in the Fire, and will
abide in it. They are the worst of creatures. But those that believe and work
righteous deeds, they are the best of creatures.” (98: 6, 7)
The worst creature, because we see even pigs and dogs do not worship
their fellow beings and other creatures. If a man/woman worships any
man/woman, animals, trees, or any other creations, then he/she will become
worse than pigs and dogs.
So be the best creation, embrace Islam and worship Allaah Alone:
ؕ
"Say: 'O People of the Book! Come to a word common between us and you: that
we shall worship none but Allaah and we shall not associate anything with Him
and that some of us will not take others as lords beside Allaah.' And if they turn
their backs (from accepting this call), tell them: 'Bear witness that we are
Muslims (the ones who have submitted ourselves exclusively to Allaah.)”

How to find the true religion

  • 1. Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem How to find the True Religion By Dr. Noorul Hussain K. © Dr. Noorul Hussain K. 2013. All rights reserved INTERNATIONAL ISLAMIC DA’WAH FOUNDATION www.cris.co.nf

  • 3. Contents Preface. 1. The Concept of God. 2. The Prophecies of the Qur’an. 3. The Whole Universe is Muslim and follows Islam. 4. Islam is the Religion of All Prophets. 5. The Story of Salman, Al-Farsi - the Greatest Researcher of all times. 6. Conclusion. 7. Bibliography.
  • 4. Preface Praise be to Allaah and peace be upon those whom He chose. There are many religions in the world and each religion claims to be true, but all of them cannot be true, because they are contrary to each other. Now the question arises: Which is the true religion? This book gives you the answer of this question. Every religion claims to be from the God. If a religion is from the God, it should present the right concept of the God. How can we conceive that the God has sent a religion which conveys wrong concept of Himself? If any religion presents the wrong concept of the God, that itself gives a proof of its falsehood. Therefore to find the true religion, one must study the concept of God in all religions. Now, what is the right concept of the God? And what is the wrong concept of the God? The right concept of the God comprises with the attributes of the God that the God deserves, such as: the God should be All-Powerful, All- Living, Eternal, All-Hearing, All-Seeing, etc. On contrary, the wrong concept of the God comprises with the attributes of the God that the God does not deserve, such as: ignorance, foolishness, birth, death, eating, sleeping, weeping, weakness, dependence, defeat, having parents, wife and children, etc. No normal person can conceive these flaws in the God, but, in the
  • 5. concepts of God in all religions except Islam, we find that some or all of these flaws have been ascribed toward the God, Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala. In this book, I am going to present the concept of the God in Islam. And I hope if any non-Muslim studies the concept of the God in Islam and the concept of god in his/her religion, he will insha Allaah find the true religion and the true God. There are many other proofs of Islam’s truthfulness. I have mentioned a few of them in this book. I appeal all the readers of the book to study this book without prejudice and bias, and ponder on the truth. Your good future is in following the Truth. May Allaah guide all of us to the Truth, Aameen. Dr. Noorul Hussain K. 03-04-2013, Shahpur
  • 6. How to Find the True Religion The Concept of the God in Islam The best way to study the concept of the God in Islam is to study the Names of Allaah (s.w.t.). The Holy Qur’an says: ؕ “Allaah! There is no God but He. He has the beautiful Names.” (20: 8) Allaah’s beautiful Names give the required information about Him and describe His Being, Attributes, Powers, Status and Rights. Prophet Muhammed (s.a.w.s.) says, “There are ninety nine Names of Allaah. Whoever memorizes them will enter Paradise.” (Saheeh Bukhari and Saheeh Muslim) Allaah’s Names are the touchstones of theology (science of God). Whoever claims to be God must be examined in the light of Allaah’s Names. It means we must see whether the person who claims to be God has the Attributes and Powers mentioned in Allaah’s Names. The reality of the person will come into light. Let us study Allaah’s beautiful Names one by one and know the concept of the God in Islam.
  • 7. The one who claims to be God must be Creator, Inventor, Originator, Evolver, Fashioner, Sustainer, Cherisher and Lord of the Universe of the Universe. How can anyone claim to be God in the creation of the other? AL-KHALIQUE (The Creator) The Holy Qur’an says: 1) “Allaah is the Creator of all things.” (39:62) ؕ ؒ 2) “Those, whom they invoke besides Allaah, cannot create anything. They are themselves created. They are dead, not living, nor do they know when they will be raised up. Your God is One God.” (16: 20-22) 3) “It is He to Whom belongs the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth. No child has He begotten, nor has He a partner in His Sovereignty.
  • 8. It is He Who created all things and ordered them in due proportions. Yet have they taken, besides Him, gods that can create nothing but are themselves created, that can neither help nor harm themselves, and that have no power over death, life and resurrection.” (25: 2, 3) 4) “Say: ‘Have you pondered on those whom you invoke besides Allaah? Show me what it is they have created on the earth or have they a share in the heavens.’” (46:4) 5) “Is He, then, Who has created like him who cannot create? Will you not receive admonition?” (16: 17) Some people say that there is no Creator of the universe. The Holy Qur’an says: ۙ “There are, on the earth, Signs for those of assured Faith, and also in your own selves. Will you not see then?” (51: 20, 21) Let atheists look at their physical structure: how wisely and how systematically each and every organ has been shaped and placed! They have
  • 9. been provided with ears to hear, eyes to see, nose to smell and breathe, mouth to eat and drink, teeth to masticate, tongue to taste and to speak, hands to work, feet to walk et cetera. Let them study these organs in the light of scientific data available. Let them ponder on the location, the structure and the functions of the organs, like Heart, Brain, Stomach, Kidney, Liver, etc., of their inner body in the light of scientific data available. Let them reflect on the interconnection of organs and the different kind of systems prevalent in their body such as Digestive system, Circulatory system, Reproductive system, Respiratory system et cetera. Let them ponder on how each and every organ of their body works to form an individual, how wisely and systematically the organs have been interconnected, how wisely and systematically the different kinds of system are being operated. Then the Truth will surely enter their mind Insha-Allaah. They will not be able to deny the existence of the Creator. They will realize that it is not possible to have so perfectly shaped and perfectly placed organs and so wisely and systematically interconnected organs and systems without a Creator and Organizer. The Holy Qur’an says: “That is Allaah, your Lord. There is no God but He, the Creator of all things. Therefore, worship Him.” (6: 102) Dr. Hammudah Abdalati says: “We know that every product is the work of a certain producer, and that every beautiful art is the creation of some great artist. We realize that no family can function properly without a responsible
  • 10. head, that no city can prosperously exist without sound administration, and that no state can survive without a chief of some kind. We also realize that nothing comes into being on its own. Moreover, we observe that the universe exists and functions in the most orderly manner, and that it has survived for hundreds of thousands of years. Can we, then, say that all this is accidental and haphazard? Or can we attribute the existence of man and the whole world to mere chance? There must be a Great Force in action to keep everything in order. In the beautiful nature, there must be a Great Artist who creates the most charming pieces of art and produces everything for a special purpose in life. This Force is the strongest of all forces, and this Artist is the greatest of all artists. The true believers and deeply enlightened people recognize this Artist and call Him Allaah or God. They call Him God because He is the Creator and Chief Architect of the world, the Originator of life and the provider of all things in existence. He is not a man because no man can create or make another man. He is not an animal, nor is He a plant. He is neither an idol nor is He a statue of any kind because none of these things can make itself or create anything else. He is not a machine. He is neither the sun, nor is He the moon or any other star, because these things are controlled by a great system, and are themselves made by someone else. He is different from all these things since He is a maker and keeper of them all.” (Islam in Focus: Pg. 2, 3)
  • 11. AL-BAARI (The Originator) AL-MUSAWWIR (The Fashioner) The Holy Qur’an says: “He is Allaah, the Creator, the Originator, the Fashioner. His are the most beautiful Names.” (59: 24) Allaah not only originates things (creates things out of nothing), but also moulds them into suitable form, so that they can play their role in His universal system. AL-BADI‘ (The Inventor) The Holy Qur’an says: “(Allaah is) the Inventor of the heavens and the earth. When He decrees a matter, He says to it, ‘Be’ and it becomes.” (2:117) It is Allaah’s Power that His word “Be” is enough to bring the whole universe into existence.
  • 12. AL-FAATIR (The Evolver) The Holy Qur’an says: “Praise be to Allaah, the Evolver of the heavens and the earth.” (35:1) Fatr implies a process of evolving from previously created matter or state. AR-RAZZAQUE (The One Who gives sustenance) The Holy Qur’an says: 1) “Allaah is He Who gives sustenance.” (51:58) “Sustenance” stands for all those things that support life and that meet all physical needs of living beings such as air, water, light, vegetables, fruits, cereals et cetera. “Sustenance” refers to all that is necessary to sustain and develop life in all its phases. Allaah is He Who gives sustenance to all without any cost. The money that we give to farmers and shopkeepers to buy vegetables, fruits and other edible things etc. is not the cost of those things, but it is the wage that we pay the
  • 13. farmers and the shopkeepers for bringing these things to us. We must know that farmers are not the creators of those things; Allaah is the Creator of those things. 2) “He has the keys of the heavens and the earth. He enlarges and restricts the sustenance whom He wills. For He is All-Knowing of all things.” (42: 12) 3) “Who is there that can provide you with sustenance if He withholds His sustenance?” (67: 21) ۚ◌۠ 4) “They worship others, besides Allaah, that have no power of giving them sustenance with anything in heavens or earth and that cannot possibly have such power?” (16: 73) 5) “There is no creature on the earth but its sustenance depends on Allaah.” (11: 6)
  • 14. 6) “Is it they who portion out the Mercy of your Lord? It is We Who portion out their livelihood among them in the life of this world. And We raise some of them above others in ranks, so that some may take the others into their service. But the Mercy of your Lord is better than what they amass.” (43: 32) 7) “O men! Remember the Grace of Allaah unto you! Is there any other Creator, besides Allaah, who gives you sustenance from heavens or earth? There is no God but He. How are you perverted then?” (35: 3) AL-WAHHAAB (The Bestower) The Holy Qur’an says: ۚ 1) “Do they have the treasures of the Mercy of your Lord, the Majestic, the Bestower?” (38: 9)
  • 15. ؕ 2) “Such is Allaah, your Lord. His is the Sovereignty and those whom you invoke besides Him own not a Qitmeer. If you invoke them, they cannot listen to your call. And even if they hear, they cannot answer you.” (35:13, 14) Qitmeer means the thin, white skin that covers the date stone. It has neither strength, nor texture, and has no value whatever. ‘They cannot answer you’ means they cannot meet your needs, they cannot give anything to you because they have nothing, not even a Qitmeer, to give. So, invoke Allaah alone because He alone has the keys of the heavens and the earth, and His is the Sovereignty and He alone is the Bestower. The Holy Qur’an says: “And you have no good things but from Allaah.” (16: 53)
  • 16. AR-RABB (The Lord, The Cherisher and Sustainer) The Holy Qur’an says: ۙ 1) “Praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the universe.” (1: 2) ۠ 2) “Say: ‘Who is the Lord and Sustainer of the heavens and the earth?’ Say: ‘(It is) Allaah.’ Say: ‘Why have you then chosen gods besides Him who, even to themselves, can do neither good nor harm?’” (13: 16) 3) “Say: ‘Shall I seek as (my) Lord other than Allaah while He is the Lord of all things? Every soul draws the meed of its acts on none but itself. No bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another. Your return in the end is towards Allaah. He will tell you the truth of the things wherein you disputed.’” (6: 164)
  • 17. 4) “They make their clerics and their monks and the Christ, the son of Mary, lords besides Allaah although they had been ordered to worship only One God. There is no God but He. Exalted be He above those whom they associate (with Him).” (9: 31) 5) “Say: ‘O people of the Book! Come to a point that is common between us and you: that we will worship none but Allaah, that we associate none with Him, and that we will not make, from among ourselves, lords other than Allaah.’So, if they turn away, then say: ‘Be witness that we are Muslims.’” (3: 64) ؒ 6) “(Allaah is) the Lord of the heavens and of the earth and of all that is between them. So, worship Him and be constant and patient in His worship. Do you know any other worthy of His Name?” (19: 65) ؒ
  • 18. 7) “Verily, your Religion is but one Religion, and I am your only Lord. Therefore, serve Me. But they have divided their affair among themselves, but to Us they all shall return.” (21: 92, 93) ؒ 8) “(O Muhammed!) Say: ‘I am but a man like yourselves, (but) the Inspiration has come to me that your God is one God. He, who expects to meet his Lord, should do righteous deeds and must not associate anyone in the worship of his Lord.’” (18: 110) AL-MALIK (The Sovereign) The Holy Qur’an says: 1) “He is Allaah, besides Whom there is no other God, the Sovereign.” (59:23) Many people think that the God is One, but He has given His beloved ones the Authority to handle and maintain affairs of the world and valuable things like sustenance, power, money, knowledge et cetera. So, they created a separate god or goddess for every valuable thing like god of sustenance,
  • 19. goddess of power, goddess of money, goddess of knowledge et cetera. They made idols of those gods and goddesses by their own fancies and began to worship and invoke them for respective things. If it is accepted that the God has given the Authority of the valuable things and their affairs to His beloved ones, it clearly means that the God does not possess the Authority of those things any more. If it is so, how can the God remain the God? What is the necessity of His presence then? When polytheists could not answer these questions, they change their idea and say, “No, the God has not given the Authority of those things to His beloved ones, but He has appointed His beloved ones on those things. The Authority rests with the God alone.” If the Authority rests with the God alone, then, we must not worship and invoke others (the appointed ones). We must worship and invoke the God alone. Since the appointed ones are slaves, they cannot carry out anything by their own, they are not free to operate, and they have to follow the order of the Authority (the God). So, it is wrong to worship and invoke other than the God, the Master of the universe. So, Allaah says: 2) “Say: ‘Call upon those whom you thought (gods) besides Allaah. They have no Sovereignty, not even equal to the weight of an atom either in
  • 20. the heaven or on the earth. Neither have they any share therein nor is any of them a helper to Allaah.’” (34:22) 3) “To Allaah belongs the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth.” (9:116) ؒ 4) “So, Glory to Him in Whose Hands is the Sovereignty of all things. And to Him you shall all be brought back.” (36:83) AL-GHANI (The Self-Sufficient, The Rich, The Resourceful) AL-HAMEED (The Praiseworthy) The God be self sufficient and free from all wants and needs. Is the one whom you worship free from all wants and needs? The Holy Qur’an says: 1) “If one strives, one does so for one’s own soul. For Allaah is Free of all wants from all creations.” (29: 6)
  • 21. 2) “To Allaah belong all things in the heavens and the earth. Verily, Allaah alone is the Self-Sufficient, Worthy of Praise.” (31: 26) 3) “O you men! You all are beggar in front of Allaah, and Allaah alone is the Self-Sufficient, Worthy of Praise.” (35:15) AL-QHAWI (The Almighty) AL-AZEEZ (The Omnipotent, The Majestic) The God must be Almighty and Omnipotent. If the one whom you worship is not Almighty and Omnipotent, the one can not be the God. The Holy Qur’an says: 1) “Your Lord alone is the Omnipotent, the Almighty.” (11: 66) 2) “Might belongs to Allaah entirely.” (2: 165)
  • 22. 3) “Verily, Allaah is Omnipotent, Almighty.” (22: 74) AL-MATEEN (The Strong) The God must be Strong. The God can not be weak. The Holy Qur’an says: “Verily, Allaah is He, Who gives (all) sustenance, the Owner of Might, the Strong.” (51: 58) AL-QHAHHAAR (The Irresistible, The Invincible) The God must be the Irresistible and the Invincible. The God can not be a loser. The Holy Qur’an says: ۚ “There is no God but Allaah, the One, the Irresistible.” (38: 65)
  • 23. AL-QHADEER (The All-Powerful) AL-MUQHTADIR (The Paramount) Al-GHALIB (the Subduer, the Subjugator) The God must be the All-Powerful and the Paramount. The God can not be powerless and controlled. The Holy Qur’an says: ؒ 1) “Verily, Allaah is All-Knowing, All-Powerful.” (16: 70) ؒ 2) “Verily, Allaah is All-Powerful over all things.” (2: 20) 3) “Verily, when He intends a thing, His Command is ‘Be’, and it becomes!” (36: 82) 4) “Allaah is Paramount over all things.” (18: 45)
  • 24. 5) “Allaah is Ghalib over His affairs, but most among mankind know it not.” (12: 21) 6) “Verily, His are the creation and the Command. Blessed be Allaah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds!” (7: 54) 7) “Whatever you worship apart from Him is nothing but names which you and your fathers have named, for which Allaah has not sent down any Authority. The Command is of none but Allaah. He has commanded that you worship none but Him. That is the right Religion, but most men do not understand.” (12: 40)
  • 25. AL-FA ‘ ‘AL (The Executant) The God must be able to execute what he wills and intends. If the one fails to do so, the one can not be the God. The Holy Qur’an says: 1) “Your Lord is the Executant of all that He intends.” (11: 107) 2) “Allaah carries out all that He intends.” (22: 14) ◌ 3) “Allaah carries out all that He wills.” (22: 18) 4) “When Allaah decrees a matter, it is always executed. Allaah’s Wills and Determinations are based on knowledge and wisdom, truth and justice. They are free from all kinds of defects, mistakes and errors. And He has the Power to carry out all that He wills and determines. The Holy Qur’an says:

The Holy Qur’an says:
  • 27. ۙ 1) “(Allaah is) The Lord of the Throne, the Glorious.” (85: 15) 2) “The Gracious established on the Throne.” (20: 5) 3) “His chair encompassed the heavens and the earth.” (2: 255) AL-QHUDDOOS (The Holy One), AS-SALAAM (The Safe), AL-MOOMIN (The Source of Peace), AL-MUHAIMIN (The Refuge), AL-JABBAAR (The Overbearing), AL-MUTAKABBIR (The Proud) The Holy Qur’an says: “He is Allaah, besides Whom there is no other God, the Sovereign, the Holy One, the Safe, the Source of Peace, the Refuge, the Omnipotent, the
  • 28. Overbearing, the Proud, Glory to Allaah! He is Free from time, death and all sorts of dangers, fears, harms, losses, troubles, difficulties, pains, problems, disturbances, calamities et cetera. 3) AL-MOOMIN (the Source of Peace): He Himself is Peace and the Source of Peace for those who turned to Him. 4) AL-MUHAIMIN (The Refuge): Allaah is the Refuge to all from all sorts of dangers, fears, harms, losses, troubles, difficulties, pains, problems, disturbances, calamities et cetera. 5) AL-MUTAKABBIR (The Proud): Allaah alone deserves to be Proud of Himself. The God must have all these qualities.
  • 29. AR-RAHMAAN (The All-Merciful), AR-RAHEEM (The Exclusively Merciful) The God must be Merciful. The Holy Qur’an says: ؒ 1) “And your God is One God. There is no God but He, the All-Merciful, the Exclusively Merciful.” (2: 163) 2) “(Allaah says,) My Mercy encompasses all things.” (7: 156) 3) “What Allaah, out of His Mercy, bestows on mankind none can withhold; and what He withholds none can grant, apart from Him. And He is Almighty, All-Wise.” (35: 2) AR-RAOOF (The Kind, The Well-Wisher) The God must be Well-Wisher and Kind. The Holy Qur’an says: ۙ
  • 30. “Your Lord is indeed the Kind, the Merciful.” (16: 7) AL-WADOOD (The Loving) The God must be Loving. The Holy Qur’an says: ۙ “And He is the Very Forgiving, the Loving One.” (85: 14) AL-BARR (The Beneficent) The God must be Beneficent. The Holy Qur’an says: ۙ
  • 31. 1) “O man! What has seduced you from your Lord, the Benevolent.” (82: 6) ؒ 2) “Know that Allaah is Very Forgiving, Forbearing.” (2: 235) Allaah has created man and provided him with all those things that are necessary for the survival and the growth of man. Yet most people reject Faith in Allaah and worship others besides Allaah. Allaah is forbearing all these and is continuing to be Benevolent to them. AL-GAFOOR, AL-GAFFAAR (The Very Forgiving) The Holy Qur’an says: ؒ 1) “Know that Allaah is the Very Forgiving, the Merciful.” (5: 34) 2) (Allaah says,) “Verily, I am Very Forgiving to that who turns in repentance and believes (in Me), does righteous work, then accepts the right Path.” (20: 82)

The Holy Qur’an says: 1) “Whoever intercedes in a good cause becomes a partner therein; and whoever recommends and helps in an evil cause, shares in its burden. And Allaah is Overseer over all things.” (4: 85) ؒ 2) “Allaah is Guard over all things.” (33: 52)
  • 34. AS-SAMEE‘ (The All-Hearing), AL-BASEER (The All-Seeing) The God must be All-Hearing and All-Seeing. The Holy Qur’an says: ؒ 1) “Allaah alone is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.” (40: 20) 2) “It is He Who sees all things.” (67: 19) ؕ 3) “Nothing on earth or in heaven is hidden from Allaah.” (3: 5) Many people visit shrines and ask the buried one either to solve their problems or recommend for them with Allaah. Can we make those, who are in graves, hear us? Let us ask the Holy Qur’an. The Holy Qur’an says: ۙۙۚ 4) “The blind and the seeing are not alike, nor are the darkness and the light, nor are the shade and the heat, nor are the living and the dead

Allaah can cause whom He wills to hear Him, but you cannot make those who are in graves hear you.” (35: 19-22) AL-‘ALEEM (The All-Knowing, The Omniscient), AL-KHABEER (The All-Aware) The God must be All-Knowing and All-Aware. The Holy Qur’an says: 1) “Say: ‘Will you worship, besides Allaah, that which has no power either to harm or to benefit you? And (know that) Allaah alone is the All- Hearing, the All-Knowing.’” (5: 76) ؒ 2) “Verily, Allaah is All-Knowing, All-Aware.” (31: 34) ؒ 3) “Verily, Allaah is All-Knowing of all things.” (8: 75) ؕ 4) “So, Have Eemaan in Allaah and His Messenger and the Light which We have sent down. There is no God but He, the Omnipotent, the All-Wise.” (3: 18) AL-LATEEF (The All-Subtle, The Discerning One, The Judicious) The God must be All-Subtle, Discerning One and Judicious. The Holy Qur’an says: ۚ “Verily, Allaah is All-Subtle, All-Aware.” (22: 63) Allaah is the Discerning and Judicious One. So, He is Well-Aware of the consequences of all thoughts and actions.
  • 37. Allaah is so Subtle that our mind can neither imagine Him nor illustrate Him. AL-HAFEEZ (The Caretaker) The God must be Caretaker. The Holy Qur’an says: ؒ “Your Lord is the Caretaker of all things.” (34: 21) AL-VAKEEL (The Diposer/Organizer of affairs) The Holy Qur’an says: ؕ 1) “(Allaah says,) take not other than Me as the Disposer of (your) affairs.” (17: 2) ؕ 2) “Allaah is the Organizer of all affairs.” (11: 12)
  • 38. AL-WALEE (The Protector) The so-called scholars call Sufis and Saints Auliyaa (pl. of Walee), and ask common people to offer them all that Allaah alone deserves. Common people follow these dishonest scholars without seeing what Allaah has told in the Holy Qur’an and what Prophet Muhammed (s.a.w.s.) said and did. Let us ask the Holy Qur’an Who the real Walee is. The God must be Protector. The Holy Qur’an says: ٞؒ 1) “Have they set up (other) Auliyaa besides Him? Surely, Allaah alone is the Walee.” (42: 9) ٞ◌ؒ 2) “Neither on earth nor in heaven will you be able (fleeing) to frustrate (His plan), nor have you, besides Allaah, any Walee or Helper.” (29: 22) 3) “Do the unbelievers think that they can set up My servants as Auliyaa besides Me? Verily, We have prepared Hell for the unbelievers for (their) entertainment.” (18: 102)
  • 39. ؕ ؕ 4) “And when one learns something of our Verses, then one takes it in jest. For such there will be a humiliating chastisement. Hell is behind them. And whatever they earn shall not avail them, nor shall the Auliyaa they take besides Allaah. For them is a tremendous chastisement.” (45: 9,10) 5) “And the sinners will have no Walee, nor helper.” (42: 8) 6) “Verily, Allaah will never change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves. If Allaah wills to afflict a people with a misfortune, none can ward it off, nor will they find any Walee besides Him.” (13: 11) 7) “Protection comes only from Allaah, the True One.” (8: 44)
  • 40. Al-MAULA (The Guardian) The God must be Guardian. The Holy Qur’an says: ؕؒ “Hold firmly to Allaah! He is your Guardian, the best Guardian, the best Helper.” (22: 78) AN-NASEER (The Helper) The God must be Helper. The Holy Qur’an says: 1) “Did you not know that it is Allaah Who has Sovereignty over the heavens and the earth? And besides Allaah there is neither any Protector, nor any Helper to you.” (2: 107) 2) “Those, whom you invoke besides Allaah, are servants like you. Call on them and let them answer you if what you say is true!” (7: 194)
  • 41. 3) (Say,) “My Protector is Allaah Who revealed the Book. He will befriend the righteous. And those, whom you invoke besides Him, are not able to help you, nor can they help themselves.” (7: 196, 197) 4) “If Allaah helps you, none can overcome you; if He abandons you, who is there, after that, that can help you? In Allaah, then, believers put their trust.” (3: 160) ؕ۠ 5) “They have set up gods other than Allaah, hoping that they may help them. They don’t have the Power to help them. Yet their worshippers stand like warriors ready to defend them.” (36: 74, 75) AL-KAASHIF (The Remover of afflictions) The God must be Remover of afflictions. The Holy Qur’an says:
  • 42. 1) “If Allaah afflicts you with a misfortune, none can remove it but He; and if He bestows on you a favour, none can withhold His Bounty. He causes it to reach whomsoever, of His servants, He pleases. And He is the Very Forgiving, the Merciful.” (10: 107) 2) “Say: ‘Nothing will befall on us except what Allaah has written for us: He is our Guardian and on Allaah, the believers should put their trust.’” (9: 51) 3) “Say: ‘See you then? The things that you invoke besides Allaah, can they, if Allaah wills some affliction for me, remove His affliction or if He wills some Mercy for me, can they withhold His Mercy?’ Say: ‘Allaah is Sufficient for me! In Him, trust those who put their trust.’” (39: 38) AL-QHAREEB (The Ever-Near), AL-MUJEEB (The Responsive)
  • 43. The so-called scholars say to common people, “You common people cannot make Allaah hear your supplications. So, you need a Waseelah (medium) to make Him hear your supplications. Sufis and saints are the Waseelah. So you visit them or their shrines, and try to please them so that they may get ready to become your Waseelah.” Thus they ask common people to offer them all that Allaah alone deserves. Do we really need any Waseelah to make Allaah hear our supplications? Let us ask the Holy Qur’an. The Holy Qur’an says: 1) “Verily, He is All-Hearing, Ever-Near.” (34: 50) ؕ 2) “When my servants ask you about Me, (tell them that) I am Near: I respond to the prayer of the suppliant when he calls Me. Therefore, let them answer My Call and put their trust in Me, so that they may get the right Path.” (2: 194) 3) “We have created man and We know what his soul whispers to him. For We are Nearer to him than (his) jugular vein.” (50: 16)
  • 44. ۠ 4) “O men! An aphorism is told! Listen to it! Those, whom you invoke besides Allaah, cannot create (even) a fly, (even) if they all meet together for the purpose. And if a fly snatches away anything from them, they can not retrieve it. Both the suppliant and the one whom he supplicates are feeble.” (22: 73) 5) “And who is more astray than the one who invokes besides Allaah, such as will not answer him to the Day of Resurrection, and who are (in fact) unconscious of their call (to them)? And when mankind are gathered together (at the Resurrection), they will be hostile to them and deny that (men) had worshipped them.” (46: 5, 6) AS-SAADIQUE (The Truthful, The True) The God must be Truthful. The Holy Qur’an says:
  • 45. 1) “And verily, We are Truthful.” (6: 146) ؒ 2) “Allaah! There is no God but He. He will indeed gather you on the Day of Resurrection wherein is no doubt. And who can be more Truthful than Allaah in statement?” (4: 87) 3) “And who can be more Truthful than Allaah in utterance?” (4: 122) AL-HUQH (The Truth, The Reality) The God must be Truth. The Holy Qur’an says: 1) “That is because Allaah alone is the Truth, and those whom they invoke besides Him are but vain falsehood. Verily, Allaah alone is the High, the Great.” (22: 62)
  • 46. 2) “And those to whom knowledge has been given will see that what has been sent down to you from your Lord is the Truth, and that it guides to the Path of the Almighty, the Praiseworthy.” (34: 6) 3) “And they will realize that Allaah alone is the Truth, the One Who makes clear.” (24: 25) 4) “And say: ‘Truth has come, and falsehood ran away. For falsehood is (by its nature) bound to run away.’” (17: 81) Allaah is the Truth. His existence is not a product of fancy. He is the Reality. And one’s reason and intellect cannot deny the Reality. The Holy Qur’an says: “They (who worship other gods besides Allaah) follow nothing but idle fancies and preach nothing but falsehood.” (10: 66)
  • 47. AL-HAADI (The Guide) The Holy Qur’an says: 1) “Verily, Allaah is the Guide of those who believe, to the right Path.” (22: 54) 2) “Your Lord suffices as a Guide and Helper.” (25: 31) 3) “He whom Allaah guides is rightly guided, and those whom He leaves to go astray are the losers.” (7: 178) 4) “Follow that which has been sent down to you from your Lord and do not follow Auliya (masters) besides Him. But you seldom accept admonition.” (7: 3) ◌
  • 48. 5) “Indeed the evil-doers follow their own desires being devoid of knowledge. But who can guide those whom Allaah leaves astray? There will be no helpers to them. So you set your face truly to the Religion being upright, the nature in which Allaah has made mankind. No change (there is) in the work (wrought) by Allaah. That is the true Religion. But most among mankind don’t know.” (30: 29, 30) ASH-SHAAKIR (The Repayer of good), ASH-SHAKOOR (The Grateful) The Holy Qur’an says: 1) “He that does good of his own accord (must know that) Allaah is Grateful, All-Knowing.” (2: 158) 2) “If any one earns any good, We shall give him an increase of good in respect thereof. For Allaah is Very Forgiving, Grateful.” (42: 23) AL-MUNTAQHIM (The Avenger) The Holy Qur’an says:
  • 49. ؒ 1) “Who is more wicked than him who passes over the Aayaat (Verses, Signs) of his Lord when he is reminded of them? We will surely take vengeance from the sinners.” (32: 22) 2) “The day We shall seize you (sinners) with a mighty onslaught. We will surely take vengeance.” (44: 16) ASH-SHADEED (The Strict) The Holy Qur’an says: ؕ “Know that Allaah is Strict in retribution and that Allaah is Very Forgiving, the Merciful.” (5: 98) ASH-SHAHEED (The Witness) The Holy Qur’an says:
  • 50. 1) “Allaah is the Witness over all things.” (22: 17) 2) “He knows all that goes into the earth and all that emerges from it, all that comes down from the heaven and all that ascends to it. He is with you wherever you are and Allaah sees all that you do.” (57: 4) AL-HASEEB (The One Who takes account) The Holy Qur’an says: “Allaah is the One Who takes account of all things.” (4: 86) AL-FATTAAH (The Judge) The Holy Qur’an says:
  • 51. 1) “Say: ‘Our Lord will gather us together. Then, He will rightly judge between us. He is the All-Knowing Judge.’” (34: 26) ؒ 2) “(Allaah) knows the treachery of the eyes, and all that the hearts conceal and Allaah will judge with the Truth. And those whom they invoke besides Him, cannot judge anything. Verily, Allaah alone is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.” (40: 19, 20) ASH-SHAFEE‘ (The Intercessor) The so-called scholars say to common people, “Sufis and saints are our intercessors.” So they ask common people to visit them or their shrines, and to please them offering all that Allaah alone deserves. The Holy Qur’an says:
  • 52. 1) “Who is more wicked than the one who forges a lie against Allaah, or denies His Aayaat (Verses, Signs, Proofs)? Truly, the criminals will not triumph. They worship that, besides Allaah, which can neither hurt them nor profit them and they say: ‘These are our Intercessors before Allaah.’ Say: ‘Do you indeed inform Allaah of something He knows not, in the heavens or on the earth? Glory to Him! And far is He above the partners they ascribe (to Him)!” (10: 17, 18) Let us ask the Qur’an Who the real Intercessor is. The Holy Qur’an says: 2) “Warn those who dread to be assembled before their Lord that they have neither any Protector, nor any Intercessor besides Allaah, so that they may guard themselves against evil.” (6: 51) 3) “What! Have they chosen as intercessors others besides Allaah? Say: ‘Even if they have no power whatever and no intelligence?’ Say: ‘Intercession belongs wholly to Allaah. To Him belongs the Sovereignty of the heavens and the earth. To Him you shall all be brought back.’” (39: 43, 44)
  • 53. ؕ 4) “There is neither any supporter nor any intercessor to be heard for the evil-doers.” (40: 18) In Ahaadees, we find that Prophet Muhammed (s.a.w.s.) becomes the intercessor for his Ummaah on the Day of Resurrection. We must know that the real Intercessor is Allaah as He has all powers of intercession. Prophet Muhammed (s.a.w.s.) can intercede only after Allaah‘s permission. And he can make intercession only for those for whom Allaah grants permission. The Holy Qur’an says: 5) “There is no intercessor except after His permission.” (10: 3) 6) “Intercession will not benefit (any person) with Him except for those for whom He has granted permission.” (34: 23) 7) “They (Prophets) offer no intercession except for those with whom He (Allaah) is well-pleased and they stand in awe and reverence of Him.” (21: 28)
  • 54. 8) “They (Prophets) cannot speak before He (Allaah) speaks. They act by His Command.” (21: 27) When the Prophets have so many restrictions in making intercession, what these sufis and saints, who can neither harm nor benefit themselves, can do for anyone. It is clear from the above mentioned Verses that only those people get the intercession with whom Allaah is well-pleased. So, there is no use in pleasing sufis and saints. If we really want intercession, we need to please Allaah. AL-KAAFI (The All-Sufficient) The Holy Qur’an says: ۚ 1) “Is not Allaah All-Sufficient for His servant? And they try to frighten you with others besides Him. There is no Guide for him whom Allaah leaves to go astray.” (39: 36) 2) “And your Lord suffices as a Guide and Helper.” (25: 31) ٞۗ◌
  • 55. 3) “Allaah suffices as a Protector and Allaah suffices as a Helper.” (4: 45) 4) “Allaah suffices as an Organizer (of all affairs).” (4: 81) ؒ 5) “Allaah suffices as a Knower.” (4: 70) 6) “Allaah suffices as a Witness.” (4: 79) 7) “Allaah suffices as an Accountant (of your deeds).” (4: 6) AL-WAASI‘ (The All-Embracing, The Infinite) AL-MUHEET (The One Who encompassed all things) The Holy Qur’an says:
  • 56. 1) “To Allaah belong the east and the west. Whithersoever you turn, there is Allaah’s Face. Verily, Allaah is Infinite, All-Knowing.” (2: 115) Allaah’s Being, Attributes, Status and Powers are Infinite. So, He cannot be conceived in anything. To know, a little bit, the vastness of Allaah’s Being, Attributes, Status and Powers, we must study the vastness of the universe. The vastness of the universe found so far by astronomers is as follows: “There are innumerable clusters of galaxies in the universe. Every cluster has some to ten thousand galaxies. Each galaxy has one thousand million to one-lakh million stars. Our sun with its system is just one of those stars. All stars are different in their size, structure and composition. The size of a galaxy is so vast that to travel from one end to another end light takes fifty thousand to one lakh fifty thousand years. You must know that light travels 3lakh kms/sec. To travel the distance between any two galaxies of a cluster, light takes 10 lakh to 20 lakh years and the distance between two clusters is 100 times more. To know more about the universe, see the New Encyclopedia Britannica: - 1) Galaxies in vol. – 19. 2) Stars and star clusters in vol. – 28. 3) Cosmos in Vol. –16.
  • 57. After knowing the vastness of the universe, one must also know that Allaah alone is the only Creator, Lord, Inventor, Fashioner, Sovereign, Organizer, Executant, Caretaker, Overseer, Guard, Guide, Sustainer, Helper, Supporter and God of the universe. Many people think that the God resides in everything. So, He can be conceived in anything or in any form. This instigated them to worship and invoke every natural thing like trees, rivers, stones, animals et cetera. They don’t even think that if the God had resided in everything, everything should have had the same Attributes and Powers that the God has. Everything must have been Ever-Living, Eternal, All-Powerful, All-Knowing, Independent, Free of all wants and needs, Free of all defects and weaknesses etc. just like the God. But we see, besides the God, everything is dependent, has some or other weaknesses and defects, and will perish. Since the God is Infinite, so it is simply a foolery to accept the belief that the God is in everything. It is indeed ridiculous to conceive the Infinite Being in any finite thing or in any finite form. The Holy Qur’an says: ؒ 2) “Ah indeed! It is He That encompasses all things.” (41: 54) 3) “His Throne encompassed the heavens and the earth.” (2: 255)
  • 58. 4) “(Say,) My (Allaah’s) Mercy encompassed all things.” (7: 156) 5) “Your God is only Allaah other than Whom there is no God. His Knowledge encompassed all things.” (20: 98) AL-AHAD (The Unique, The Inimitable) The Holy Qur’an says: ۚ “Say: ‘He is Allaah, the Unique.’” (112: 1) Allaah is Unique in His Being, Attributes, Powers, Status and Rights. So He cannot be conceived in anything or in any form.
  • 59. When we substantiate that Allaah is the Creator of all things, many people ask, “If Allaah is the Creator of all things, who is the creator of Allaah?” They must know that Allaah is not a creature to have a creator. He is the Creator of all things. So they must know that birth and death, eating and drinking, sleeping and weeping, keeping wife and bearing children etc., are the characteristics of creature, not of the Creator. Allaah is Unique. So the Holy Qur’an says: “There is nothing like Him.” (42: 11) So it is wrong to conceive the characteristics of Allaah, the Creator, in any creation, or the characteristics of any creation in Allaah, the Creator. Many people think that the God comes in the form of a man or a woman to save mankind. This is the concept of incarnation. This instigated them to make idols of reformers, benevolent kings, priests, etc., and instigated them to worship and invoke the idols. None can be regarded as the incarnation of the God. Because, if anyone had been the incarnation of the God, he should have had the Attributes and Powers that the God has. But when we study them, we find in them the same defects and weaknesses and characteristics that any common person has. The only differences, we find between common people and them, are that they are more courageous, hardworking, sacrifising, and tolerating than common people.
  • 60. Man has been appointed as a vicegerent of the God on earth. Whatever work the God wills to do on earth. Either He takes it through man, or He issues the order, “Be”, and it takes place. So He has no need to come in the form of a man or a woman or in any other material form to do any work. When no reasonable man would like to become a pig, a dog or any other animal, how would Allaah, the All-Wise, like to take the form of His any creation? Great men must be respected, but the exaggeration in their respect has always misled people. Some people have played an extraordinary role in human history, but it does not mean that they are the incarnation of the God. By the Grace of the God, Scientists have also played an extraordinary role for the benefits of mankind. They invented devices that transmit our voice, our mails, our pictures and live events from one part of the world to any other part of the world within a few seconds. They invented vehicles, computer and other innumerable things that are useful to the whole of mankind for all ages and times to come, insha Allaah. But they too cannot be regarded as the incarnation of the God, because they too have the same defects, weaknesses and characteristics that any common person has. Allaah has no material body as we have, because all materials are mortal and bound to perish, and Allaah is Immortal; every material body is dependent, and Allaah is Independent; every material body is finite, and Allaah is Infinite; Climate, nature, time, etc influence material bodies, but nothing can influence Allaah.
  • 61. Many people ask, “We find mercy, love, kindness, hearing, seeing, power, knowledge etc. in human beings too. How can Allaah then be Unique in His Attributes and Powers? Allaah is certainly Unique in His Attributes and Powers as He is Unique in His Being, Status and Rights, because: - 1) Allaah’s Attributes and Powers are His Personal, but the attributes and powers like mercy, love, kindness, hearing, seeing, power, knowledge etc. we find in human beings are not their personal, but are given by Allaah. Allaah is the Source of those attributes and powers. So, how can we compare Allaah, the Resourceful, with man, the beggar? 2) Allaah’s Attributes and Powers are Infinite and Perfect, but the attributes and powers given to human beings are finite and imperfect. 3) Allaah’s Attributes and Powers are Immortal and Eternal, but human beings and all their attributes and powers are mortal. 4) Man needs things to exercise the attributes and the powers, like eyes to see, ears to hear, et cetera, but Allaah does not need any thing to exercise His Attributes and Powers. For Allaah is Free of all wants and needs. For all these reasons Allaah is Unique in His Attributes and Powers as he is Unique in His Being, Status and Rights.
  • 62. AL-HAYYU (The Ever-Living), AL-QHAYYUM (The Eternal, The Perpetual) The Holy Qur’an says: 1) “He (Allaah) is the Ever-Living. There is no God but He. So call unto Him making the religion purely for Him. ” (40: 65) 2) “Allaah! There is no God but He, the Ever-Living, the Eternal.” (2: 255) ؕ ؒ 3) “Those, whom they invoke besides Allaah, cannot create anything: they are themselves created. They are dead, not living, nor do they know when they will be raised up. Your God is One God.” (16: 20-22) 4) “Put your trust in the Ever-Living Who never dies, and glorify with His praise.” (25: 58)
  • 63. ؒ 5) “Invoke no other god with Allaah. There is no God but He. Everything (that exists) will perish except His Being. His is the Command and to Him you shall return.” (28: 88) 6) “(Allaah says,) and verily, it is We Who give life and death. We are the Heir.” (15: 23) AL-AWWALU (The First), AL-AAKHIRU (The Last) AZ-ZAAHIRU (The Evident), AL-BAATINU (The Unseen) The Holy Qur’an says: “He is the First and the Last, and (He is) the Evident and the Unseen.” (57: 3) AL-AWWALU (The First) means when there was nothing, there was Allaah.
  • 64. AL-AAKHIRU (The Last) means when there will be nothing, there will be Allaah. It means when everything perishes, He will not perish. He will be as He was. The Holy Qur’an says: ؒ “Everything will perish except His Being, His is the Command and to Him you shall return.” (28: 88) He is the First and the Last also may mean that Allaah is the First and the Last in His Being, Attributes, Powers, Status and Rights. AZ-ZAAHIRU (The Evident) means every thing in the universe testifies that it came into existence in the form it is, because Allaah brought it into existence. Thus Allaah is Evident. But no one has seen Him. Therefore, He is the Unseen (AL-BAATINU). AL – WAAHID (The One) The Holy Qur’an says: ۚ 1) “There is no God but Allaah, the One, the Irresistible.” (38:65)
  • 65. ۙ 2) “Allaah does not have any son, nor is there any God along with Him. (If there were many gods) each would have taken away what he had created and some would have rushed to overpower the other. Glory to Allaah! (He is Free) from the (sort of) things they (polytheists) attribute to Him.” (23: 91) 3) “Say: ‘If there had been (other) gods with Him as they (polytheists) say, they (gods) would certainly have sought out a way to dethrone the Lord of the Throne. Glory to Him! He is High above all that they (polytheists) say! Exalted and Grand (beyond measure)!’” (17: 42, 43) 4) “If there were, in the both (heavens and the earth), other gods besides Allaah, there would have been disorder in both. But Glory to Allaah, the Lord of the Throne! (High is He) above what they (polytheists) attribute to Him.” (21: 22)
  • 66. 5) “That is Allaah, your Lord. There is no God but He, the Creator of all things. Therefore, worship Him. And He is the Disposer of all affairs.” (6: 102) 6) “Those that worship other gods besides Allaah follow nothing but idle fancies and preach nothing but falsehood.” (10: 66) Al-Ilaah (the God, the One Worthy to be worshipped) The Holy Qur’an says: 1) “Your God is only Allaah other than Whom there is no God. (20: 98) 2) “That is Allaah, your Lord. There is no God but He, the Creator of all things. Therefore, worship Him.” (6: 102)
  • 67. 3) “They make their clerics and their monks and the Christ, the son of Mary, lords besides Allaah although they had been ordered to worship only One God. There is no God but He. Exalted be He above those whom they associate (with Him).” (9: 31) ؒ 4) “(O Muhammed!) Say: ‘I am but a man like yourselves, (but) the Inspiration has come to me that your God is one God. He, who expects to meet his Lord, should do righteous deeds and must not associate anyone in the worship of his Lord.’” (18: 110) The Exclusive Rights of the God on His Creation Allaah created man and provided him with all that he needs to survive and grow. So, there are some exclusive Rights of Allaah on man. They are as follows: The first and foremost Right of Allaah on man is that man should believe in Him, and should acknowledge His Authority and associate none with Him in His Being, Attributes, Powers and Status.
  • 68. The second Right of Allaah on man is that man should worship and invoke Him alone and associate none with Him in His worship and invoke none other than Him because we, our life, our needs, our livelihood, our future, our fate and our affairs all depend on Him. The third Right of Allaah on man is that man should accept and follow wholeheartedly His Guidance in all walks of life. These three Rights are exclusive for Allaah alone. If someone discharges any of these Rights for any other than Allaah, it clearly means that he equalized the other with Allaah: he equalized a creation with the Creator. And Islam considers it as the biggest and unforgivable sin. Allaah says: “Verily, Allaah will not forgive (the sin of) joining others with Him.” (4:116) A Misconception and its Clarification The enemies of Islam try to spread misconceptions about Islam. One such misconception is that they say, “Allaah is the Name of the moon-god.” Subhaan Allaahi wa bihamdihi. The Qur’an answers it:
  • 69. 1) “And of His Signs are the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. Do not prostrate yourselves before the sun, nor before the moon, but prostrate yourselves before Allaah Who created them, if it is Him that you worship.” (41: 37) This verse of the Holy Book alone is enough to clarify the misconception that Allaah is not the moon-god. Allaah is the Creator of the moon, the sun and the entire Universe. Moon is just a creation of Allaah and was made for the service of mankind: ؕ ۙ 2) “He has subjected for you the night and the day and the sun and the moon and the stars have also been made subservient by His command. Surely there are Signs in this for those who use their reason.” (16: 12) 3) “Have you not seen that all those who are in the heavens and all those who are in the earth prostrate themselves before Allaah; and so do the sun and the moon, and the stars and the mountains, and the trees, and the beasts ,and so do many human beings.” (78: 18) (do sajdah to Allaah)
  • 70. ۙ 4) “And the moon is eclipsed.” (75: 8) 5) “The Hour of Resurrection drew near and the moon split asunder.” (54: 1) Even the polytheists of Makkah never worshipped the moon. The Qur’an says: If you were to ask them (the polytheists: “Who created the heavens and the earth and Who has kept the sun and the moon in subjection?” they will certainly say: “Allaah.” (29: 61) The Qur’an is from Allaah, the Creator, Lord and God of the Universe The Qur’an gives prophecies which prove that the Holy Qur’an is from Allaah, the All-Knowing, the All-Wise. 1. The Sources of Islam are Safe and Intact Allaah says in the Holy Qur’an: “It is We Who have sent down the Guidance (the Qur’an), and certainly, We are its Guradian.” (15:9) Allaah has been guarding the Qur’an as said in the above- mentioned Verse for more than fourteen centuries now. So we see, even after fourteen centuries, that the Qur’an is as intact as it was
  • 71. fourteen centuries ago. We would find no interpolation in the Qur’an. It has been existing in its original text for over 14 centuries now without a word, syllable or even letter having been changed. The Qur’an is the only Book, in the world, that is preserved for so long time and continues to be preserved. One point must be noted here that the Holy Books of all other religions are not present in their original text today. They are but interpolated and corrupted translations. So, one can not take risk of relying on them. 2. Big Bang theory The Big Bang theory which was found out recently in 20th century was stated in the Qur’an some fourteen centuries ago. Allaah says in the Qur’an: “Did the disbelievers not see that the heavens and the earth were one solid mass, then We tore them apart?” (21:30) Is this not enough to prove that the Qur’an is from Allaah, the All- Knowing? 3. The Origin of Living Beings
  • 72. Allaah says in the Holy Qur’an: “We have made every living thing from water. Will they not believe, then?” (21:30) Our latest knowledge, in biological science, points that protoplasm is the original basis of all living matter in the physical world. And one must know that the constitution of protoplasm is about 80 to 85 per cent of water, and protoplasm is in a state of constant flux and instability that is the nature of water. Is this not enough to prove that the Qur’an is from Allaah? 4. The Formation of Sex Not only by common people, but also in the medical world, it had been thought that mother was responsible for the sex of the newborn baby. Only recently, after the discovery of chromosomes, the medical world came to know that the sex of a newborn is determined by the sperm that fertilizes the ovum. If the sperm carrying an X-chromosome fertilizes an ovum that always contains X-chromosomes, the child will be a girl; while if
  • 73. the fertilizing sperm contain Y-chromosomes, the child will be a boy, insha Allaah. The Holy Qur’an has stated this fact more than once, before anybody knew anything about X and Y-chromosomes. It says: ؕ 1. “And of him (man), He (Allaah) made sexes, the male and the female.” (75: 39) ۙ 2. “Allaah created both male and female from a drop of fluid (not entire fluid) that has been ejaculated.” (53: 45, 46) Allaah says: “Do they not ponder on the Qur’an? If it had been from any other than Allaah, they would surely have found in it much inconsistency.” 5. The Nature of Water The Holy Qur’an says:
  • 74. “It is He (Allaah) Who has let free the two bodies of flowing water: the one palatable and sweet, and the other salt and bitter. Yet He has made a barrier between them, a partition that is not to be passed.” (25:53) Abdullaah Yusuf ‘Ali says in the commentary of this Verse: “There are two bodies of water, viz.: 1) The great salt ocean, and 2) the bodies of sweet water fed by rain, whether they are lakes, rivers or underground springs. Their source in rain makes them one, and their drainage, whether above-ground or underground eventually to the ocean, also makes them one. They are free to mingle, and in a sense they do mingle, for there is a regular water cycle and the rivers flow constantly to the sea, and tidal rivers get seawater for several miles up their estuaries at high tide. Yet in spite of all this, the laws of gravitation are like a barrier or partition set by Allaah, by which the two bodies of water as a whole are always kept apart and distinct. In the case of rivers carrying large quantities of water to the sea, like the Mississippi or the Yangtsekiang, the river-water with its silt remains distinct from seawater for a long distance out at sea. But the wonderful Sign is that the two bodies of water, though they pass
  • 75. through each other, remain distinct bodies, with their distinct functions. Thus this Verse points to a fact which has only recently been discovered by Science.” 6. The Dead Body of Fir’oun In 1235 B.C., when Fir‘oun (Ramsess II) had drowned in the Red Sea while following Prophet Moosa (peace be upon him) and his companions through it, the Holy Qur’an says Allaah had said to Fir‘oun: ؒ “This day We shall save your body, that you may be a Sign to those who come after you. But certainly, many among mankind are heedless of our Signs.” (10: 92) When this Verse of the Holy Qur’an revealed to Muhammed (s.a.w.s.), no one knew that the dead body of Fir‘oun (Ramsess II) has been preserved in the Red Sea. It was in 1881 A.D. that the dead body of Fir‘oun was found in the Red Sea. It can be seen even today with the Royal mummies in the Egyptian Museum in Egypt. It must be
  • 76. noted that the dead body of Fir‘oun is not a mummy. It means nothing has been used to preserve it. It is preserved naturally. Is this not enough to prove that the Qur’an is from Allaah? 7. The Khilafah The Holy Qur’an says: ۠ “Allaah has promised, to those among you who believe and did righteous deeds, that He will surely make them successor in the land as He made those before them, that He will establish for them their Religion – the One which He has chosen for them, and that He will change (their state), after the fear in which they are, to one of security and peace: ‘They will worship Me (alone) and not associate with Me anything.’ If any do reject Faith after this, they are violators.” (24: 55) Abdullaah Yusuf ‘Ali says in the commentary of this Verse:
  • 77. “Three things have been promised here to those who have Faith and obey Allaah’s Law: (1) that they will inherit power and authority in land, not for any selfish purposes of theirs nor by way of favouritism, but in order that they may maintain Allaah’s Law, (2) that the Religion of Right, which Allaah has chosen for them, will be openly established, and will suppress all wrong and oppression, (3) that the righteous will live in peace and security, instead of having to suffer persecution, or leave their hearths and homes for the cause of Allaah, or practise the rites of their Faith in secret.” Prophet Muhammed (s.a.w.s.) and his companions believed firmly in Allaah and did righteous deeds sincerely. All promises of Allaah came true to them. They had nothing. Allaah gave them the charge of whole of Arabia. They continued to be sincere to Allaah. Allaah made them defeat the then super powers, Rome and Persia, and made them the then super power, but latter generations left the Guidance of Allaah and began to follow their own desires and fancies. So, they became among the losers. Is this not enough to prove that the Qur’an is from Allaah, the All- Knowing, the All-Powerful?
  • 78. 8. The Dead Sea When the people of Prophet Loot (peace be upon him) had not abstained from evils and crimes despite of admonition, the Holy Qur’an says that Allaah had said: “Certainly, We are going to send down on the people of this township a punishment from the heaven, because they have been wickedly rebellious. And We have left thereof an evident Sign for any people who understand.” (29: 34, 35) The punishment was a rain of brimstone, which completely overwhelmed the cities, with possibly an earthquake and a volcanic eruption. Because of this, the whole tract on the east side of the Dead Sea (where the cities were situated) is covered with sulphurous salts and is deadly to animal and plant life. So no living beings exist in the Dead Sea. Moreover, the water of the Dead Sea is eight times saltier than the water of any other sea. Therefore, its density is so high that
  • 79. the person, who lies on it, does not drown. This is the evident Sign that can be seen even today. Is this not enough to prove that the Qur’an is from Allaah, the All- Knowing, the All-Powerful? 9. The Expansion of the Universe The expansion of the universe is a discovery of modern science, But the Holy Qur’an had informed man about this fact more than fourteen centuries ago. Allaah says in the Holy Qur’an: “The heaven, We have built it with Power. And certainly, We are expanding it.” (51: 47) Is this not enough to prove that the Qur’an is from Allaah, the All- Knowing, the All-Powerful? 10. Man’s Knowledge of Science Science is the systematic study of an object. The Holy Qur’an had informed us some 14 centuries ago that Allaah has taught science to
  • 80. man, and man is the most developed creature in Science. Read the following Verses of the Qur’an: ۠ ۠ ۠ “Behold, thy Lord said to the angels, ‘I will create a viceroy on the earth.’ They said: ‘Will You place therein one who will make mischief therein and shed blood? While we do celebrate Thy praises and glorify Thy Holy (Name)?’ He said: ‘I know what you know not.’ And He taught Adam the names of things. Then He placed them before the Angels, and said: ‘Tell Me the names of these if you are truthful.’ They said: ‘Glory to Thee! of knowledge, we have none, save what You have taught us. In truth, it is You Who is Perfect in knowledge and wisdom.’ He said: ‘O Adam! Tell them their names.’ When he told them their names, Allaah said: ‘Did I not tell you that I know the secrets of the heavens and the earth, and I know what you
  • 81. reveal and what you conceal?’ And behold! We said to the angels ‘Bow down to Adam.’ And they bowed down, not so Iblees. He refused and was haughty. He was of those who reject Faith.” (2: 30-34) According to commentators, “The names of things” means the inner nature and qualities of things. Today we see the truthfulness of these Verses of the Qur’an. The developments made by man in the field of science and technology are so obvious that none can deny them. Moreover, the developments of man indicate that man, in the real sense, is worthy to be a viceroy of Allaah on the earth. Is this not enough to prove that the Qur’an is from Allaah, the All- Knowing, the All-Powerful? 11. The Presence of Orbits Allaah says in the Holy Qur’an: “It is He (Allaah) Who created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. Each is floating in its orbit.” (21: 33) “It is not for the sun to catch up the moon, nor does the night outstrip the day, Each is floating in its orbit.” (36: 40)
  • 82. The discovery of orbits is a recent development, but the Qur’an informs about it some 1400 years ago. Is this not enough to prove that the Qur’an is from Allaah, the All- Knowing, the All-Powerful? 12. The Nature of the Sun and the Moon “It is He who made the sun Dhia (luminous) and the moon as a light and measured out its (their) stages, that you might know the number of years and the account. Allaah did not create this but with the Truth. He explains the Aayaat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) in detail for a people who have knowledge.” (10: 5) “And He has made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp?” (71: 16) Only recently scientists came to know that the sun is self-luminous body and the moon is a reflecting body, but this fact is mentioned in the Qur’an more than once some fourteen hundred years ago. Do you still need proofs to accept the Qur’an is from Allaah? 13. The Challenge Allaah says in the Holy Qur’an:
  • 83. a) “Say: ‘If mankind and jinns gather to produce the like of this Qur’an, they cannot produce the like thereof, even if they back up each other with help and support.’” (17: 88) b) “Or they may say: ‘He (Prophet Muhammed) forged it (the Holy Qur’an).’ Say: ‘Bring you then ten Suras (chapters) forged like unto it, and call (to your aid) whomsoever you can other than Allaah if you are truthful! If then they do not answer, know that this Revelation is sent down (replete) with Knowledge of Allaah, and there is no God but He! Will you then submit to Islam?” (11: 13, 14)
  • 84. c) “If you are in doubt as to what We have revealed to our servant [Muhammed(s.a.w.s.)], then produce a Sura (chapter) like there unto and call witnesses or helpers besides Allaah, if you are truthful. But if you cannot and certainly you can never (produce such a thing) then guard yourselves against the fire whose fuel is men and stones, prepared for the disbelievers.” (2:23, 24) Allaah says to those, who think that the Qur’an has been forged by Prophet Muhammed (s.a.w.s.), to produce ten chapters or at least one chapter that must be as influential, effective, terse, informative, true, moderate, beautiful and attractive as the Qur’anic chapters are. So far, many people tried to meet this challenge of the Holy Qur’an, but failed. This proves that the Holy Qur’an is not a fabricated material of any creature. It is, in fact, from Allaah, the God of all things. These were the some Signs and Prophecies of the Holy Qur’an. If someone really wants to see more Signs and Prophecies of the Holy Qur’an, he must study the Holy Qur’an. The Whole Universe is a Muslim and follows Islam
  • 85. The Meaning of Islam and Muslim: Islam is an Arabic word. It is derived from two root words: one Silm meaning Submission and the other Salm meaning Peace and Safety. Islam stands for a Commitment to surrender one’s will to the Will, Laws and Commands of Allaah, the Creator of the universe. It is through submission to the Will of Allaah that peace and safety is brought about. The one who surrender one’s will to the Will, Laws and Commands of Allaah, will be regarded as a Muslim. The one who denies to surrender one’s will to the Will, Laws and Commands of Allaah, and follow his own desires and fancies or one’s ancestors’ desires and fancies will be regarded as a Kaafir. In short, Islam is a set of the Laws of the Creator of the universe. Muslim is the one who follows the Laws of the Creator. And Kaafir is the one who rejects the Laws of the Creator. If you keep the meaning of Islam and Muslim in your mind and ponder on the universe, insha Allaah, you will realize that everything in the universe is following the Laws of the Creator of the universe i.e. Islam. The earth, the planets, the Sun, the moon, the stars and all the heavenly bodies follow the Laws of the Creator Who created them and they make not even the slightest deviation from their ordained courses. Similarly, everything on the earth follows the Laws of the Creator. Air, water, stones, fire, plants, animals, etc. – all follow the
  • 86. Laws of the Creator. As the whole of creation obeys the Law of the Creator, therefore, the whole universe literally follows the Religion Islam – for Islam signifies nothing but obedience and submission to Allaah, the Creator of the universe. Therefore, everything, from the tiniest atom to the magnificent galaxies of the heavens, in the universe is a ‘Muslim’ for it obeys the Creator by submission to His Laws. The Qur’an says: 1) “To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth. All are obedient to Him.” (2: 116) 2) “Do they seek other than the Deen (Law, Religion) of Allaah? While all those that are in the heaven and the earth are, willingly or unwillingly, in submission to Him and to Him shall they all be brought back.” (3: 83) Man has two aspects: (1) Structural and (2) Functional. As far as man’s structure is concerned, man is bound to follow the Laws of the Creator. Man’s birth, growth and life are all regulated
  • 87. by biological Laws set by the Creator. All the organs of his body, from the smallest tissues to the heart and the brain, even cells and their contents are all governed by the Laws prescribed for them by the Creator. The digestive system, the circulatory system, the reproductive system, the respiratory system are all governed by the Laws prescribed for them by the Creator. In his structure, man finds himself totally regulated by the Divine Law. Like other creatures, he is completely caught in the grip of the physical Laws of nature set by the Creator and is bound to follow them. Therefore every man is a Muslim as far as his structure is concerned. Even those who deny the existence of the Creator or who deny to follow the Creator in their functional aspect are also Muslims as far as their structure is concerned, because their bodies follow the Laws of the Creator. Therefore, we see that doctors prescribe the same medicine for fever to all the patients of different faiths, because they know very well that the bodies of all human beings work according to the same Laws. Therefore there is only one Creator of all human beings. As far as man’s functional aspect is concerned, Sayyed Maudoodi says: “Man has been endowed with reason and intellect. He has power to think and form judgments, to choose and reject, to approve and spurn. He is free to adopt whatever course of life he chooses. He can embrace any faith, and live by any ideology he likes. He may prepare
  • 88. his own code of conduct or accept one formulated by others. Unlike other creatures, he has been given freedom of thought, choice and action. In short, man has been bestowed with freewill. Both the aspects exist side by side in man’s life. In the first, he, like all other creatures, is a born Muslim, invariably obeying the Injunctions of God, and is bound to remain one. As far as the second aspect is concerned, he is free to become or not to become a Muslim. It is the way of a person exercises this freedom, which divides mankind into two groups: believers and non-believers. An individual, who chooses to acknowledge his Creator, accepts Him as his real Master, honestly and scrupulously submits to His Laws and Injunctions and follows the code. He has achieved completeness in his Islam by consciously deciding to obey God in the domain in which he was endowed with freedom of choice. He is a perfect Muslim: his submission of his entire self to the Will of Allaah is Islam and nothing but Islam. He has now consciously submitted to Him Whom he had already been unconsciously obeying. He voluntarily as well as involuntarily obeys the Laws of One God – the Lord of the universe. Now he is at peace with the whole universe for he worships Him Whom the whole universe worships. Such a man is God’s vicegerent on the earth. The
  • 89. whole world is for him and he is for God.” (Towards understanding Islam Pg. 17-19) Suppose, if Allaah had given freewill to His other creations as He has given freewill to man, and some of his creations had become Kaafirs as many of men have become, can you imagine what would have happened in the universe? Suppose, if the earth had denied following the Laws of the Creator, and if it had followed its own wishes, the existence of the earth and the life of man on the earth would have become impossible. If the earth had moved near the sun leaving its orbit, we would have been burnt alive, and the earth would have exploded; if the earth had moved away from the sun leaving its orbit, we would have been dead because of the unbearable temperature and movements. We are living peacefully, because everything in the universe is following the Laws of the Creator of the universe i.e. Islam (Peace and Submission). Just imagine what happens to us when the earth jerks i.e. when the earthquake takes place by Allaah’s Permission. The same thing happens when a man becomes a Kaafir. He harms himself both in this world and in the hereafter.
  • 90. Therefore, if man wants to achieve complete peace both in this world and in the hereafter, he will have to follow the Laws of the Creator. Islam is the Religion of All Prophets A misconception, that Prophet Muhammed (s.a.w.s.) is the founder of Islam, is being spread to give an impression that Islam is a new religion, and its founder is Prophet Muhammed (s.a.w.s.), although Islam is there right from the birth of Adam. It is the Religion of all the Prophets of Allaah. Prophet Muhammed (s.a.w.s.) has not founded any new religion. He, in fact, taught people the same Religion that had been preached by all the past Messengers of Allaah. The Holy Qur’an bears witness over it: 1) “The same Religion He (Allaah) has established for you as that which He enjoined on Noah – which We have sent by inspiration to you – and that which We enjoined on Ibraaheem, Moosa, and ‘Eesa, so that you should establish the Religion and make no divisions therein.” (42: 13)
  • 91. 2) “Say you (O Prophet Muhammed (s.a.w.s.)!): ‘We believe in Allaah and the Revelation given to us and to Ibraaheem, Isma‘eel, Is-haaque, Ya’qhoob and the Tribes, and that given to Moosa and ‘Eesa, and that given to (all other) Prophets from their Lord. We make no difference between one and another of them and we submit to Allaah. If they (people) believe as you believe, they are indeed on the right Path; but if they turn back, it is they who are in schism; but Allaah will suffice you as against them, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.” (2: 136, 137) 3) “(O Muhammed!) Nothing is said to you that was not said to the Messengers before you.” (41: 43) 4) “To you (O Muhammed!) We sent the Scripture with the Truth, confirming the Scripture that came before it and guarding it in safety. So judge among them by what Allaah has revealed and follow not their desires, diverging the Truth that has come to you.” (5: 48) 5) “Muhammed is the Messenger of Allaah and the last of the Prophets.” (33: 40) All these Verses of the Holy Qur’an clearly manifest that Prophet Muhammed (s.a.w.s.) is not the founder of Islam, but he is the final
  • 92. Messenger of Islam. These also prove that Islam is not a new religion; it is the Religion of all the Prophets. The Story of Salman, Al-Farsi - the Greatest Researcher of all times. This is the story of the pious and intellectual Salman, the Persian. He grew up in the town of Isfahan in Persia, in the village of Jayyan. His father was the Dihqan (chief) of the village. He was the richest person there and had the biggest house. His father loved him, more than he loved any other. As time went by, his love for Salman became so strong and overpowering that he feared to lose him or have anything happen to him. So he kept him at home, a virtual prisoner, in the same way that young girls were kept. Salman became devoted to the Magian religion, so much so that he attained the position of custodian of the fire, which they worshipped. His duty was to see that the flames of the fire remained burning and that it did not go out for a single hour, day or night. Salman’s father had a vast estate, which yielded an abundant supply of crops. He himself looked after the estate and gathered harvest. One day as he went about his duties as Dihqan of the village, he said to Salman, “My son, as you see, I am too busy to go out to the estate now. Go and look after matters there for me today.” On the way to the estate, Salman passed a Christian church and heard voices raised in prayer, which attracted his attention. He did not know anything about Christianity or, for that matter, about the followers of any other religion. His father had kept him in the house away from people. When he heard the voices of the Christians, he entered the church to see what they were doing. He was
  • 93. impressed by their manner of praying and felt drawn to their religion. He said, “This religion is better than ours. I shall not leave them until the sunsets.” Salman's inclination to Christianity Salman asked about and was told that the Christian religion originated in Syria. He did not go to his father’s estate that day. And at night, he returned home. His father met him and asked where he had been. Salman told him about his meeting with the Christians and how he was impressed by their religion. His father was dismayed and said: “My son, there is nothing good in that religion. Your religion and the religion of your forefathers is better.” “No, their religion is better than ours,” he insisted. His father became upset and afraid that Salman would leave their religion. So he kept Salman locked up in the house and shackled his feet. Salman managed to send a message to the Christians, asking them to inform him of any caravans going to Syria. Before long they contacted him with the information he wanted. He broke the fetters and escaped his father’s estate to join the caravan to Syria. When he reached Syria, he asked regarding the leading person in the Christian religion and was directed to the bishop of the church. He went up to him and said: “I want to become a Christian and would like to attach myself to your service, learn from you and pray with you.” The bishop agreed and Salman entered the church in his service. Salman soon found out, however, that the bishop was corrupt. He would order his followers to give money in charity while holding out the promise of blessings to them. When they gave the bishop anything to spend in the way of Allah, he would hoard it for himself and not give anything to the poor or needy. In this way, he amassed a vast quantity of gold. When the bishop died and the Christians gathered to bury him, Salman told them of his corrupt practices and, at their request, showed them where the bishop had kept their donations. When they saw the large jars filled with gold and silver they said, “By Allah, we shall not
  • 94. bury him.” They nailed him on a cross and threw stones at him. Not long after, the local people appointed another man in place of the first. Salman stayed on, in the service of this person who replaced him. The new bishop was a pious who longed for the Hereafter and engaged in worship day and night. Salman was devoted to him and spent much of the time in his company. Before he passed away, Salman said to him, “O so and so Priest! The time has come for you to witness Allah Ta'ala's decision (meaning death). I swear by Allah, I have never loved anyone as much as I have loved you! So what would you instruct me to do? And who can you recommend for me to see?” He replied, “O son! I do not know of anyone except for a certain man living in the city of Mosul. Go to him, for you will find that he is similar to me.” A short while after he passed away, Salman arrived at Mosul and found the priest he had been sent to, and indeed, he was very much like the one before him in terms of simplicity and striving. After he passed away, Salman was referred to another priest who in turn sent him to a priest in Ammuriyah (Ameria, near Rome), before his demise. Salman stayed by this Roman priest, and decided to make a living. Eventually he managed to acquire some sheep and cows. When his death was near, Salman asked him for his advice just as he had asked those before him. He said: “There is nobody following our ways of life I can send you to. Nevertheless, your life seems to coincide with the era of the predestined Prophet who will arise from the Haram. His migration will be to a city full of date trees. Moreover, he will certainly have some distinct features: Between his shoulder blades, there will be the Seal of the Prophethood. He will eat food given as a gift, and he shall not eat from charity. If you can reach that city, then do so, because you are very close to his era.” Salman's inclination to the Arabs and Islam
  • 95. A group of Arab leaders from the Kalb tribe passed through Ammuriyah. Salman asked them to take him with them to the land of the Arabs, in return for whatever money he had. They agreed to take him along. When they reached Wadi al-Qura (a place between Syria and Madinah), the Arabs broke their agreement and made him a slave, then sold Salman to a Jew. Salman worked as a servant for him. The Jew eventually sold him to a nephew of his, belonging to the tribe of Banu Qurayzah. This nephew took Salman with him to Yathrib, the city of palm groves, which is how the Christian at Ammuriyah had described it. At that time, the Prophet was inviting his people in Makkah to Islam but Salman did not know of this because of the harsh duties slavery imposed upon him. When the Prophet reached Yathrib after his hijrah from Makkah, Salman was on top of a palm tree doing some work. Salman’s master was sitting under the tree. A nephew of Salman’s master came up and said, ‘May Allah destroy the Aws and the Khazraj (the two main Arab tribes of Yathrib). By Allah, they are now gathering at Quba to meet a man, who has just arrived from Makkah and who claims to be a Prophet.’ Salman felt light-headed upon hearing these words and began to shiver so violently that he had to climb down, in fear that he may fall. He quickly swung down from the tree and spoke to his master’s nephew. “What did you say? Repeat the news for me.” Salman’s master grew angry at this breach of protocol and struck him a terrible blow. “What does this matter to you? Go back to what you were doing,” he shouted. Salman himself narrates:
  • 96. I left the house for a while, making inquiries. I asked a woman I met from the city whose entire family had become Muslim. She showed me the way to the Prophet. When it was evening, I took some food with me and went to the Prophet. The Prophet was in Quba at that time. I said, “Word has reached me that you are a very pious man, and that you have some travellers in your company. I had some charity and thought that you would be most deserving of it. This is it; you may have some of it.” The Prophet withdrew his own hand, not eating from it, but told his Companions to eat. At that time, I thought, “This is one of the characteristics my Mentor told me of.” On my way back, I saw that the Prophet was heading to Madinah . Thus, I took the food to him, saying, “I saw that you were not eating from this charity. As a matter of fact, I presented it as a gift and not charity.” This time, the Prophet also ate with his Companions. “That makes two signs,” I thought. Later on, I approached the Prophet as he was walking behind the corpse in a funeral. I remember that at that time, he was covered in two sheets, and that his Companions were with him. I was trying to steal a look at the Seal on his back, when the Prophet saw me glancing. Realising that I wanted to verify what someone had told me, he let his cloak drop a little, and I managed to see that the Seal between his shoulder blades was exactly the way my Mentor had described it. I hugged the Prophet (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam)from the back kissing (his blessed seal) and started to cry. The Holy Prophet said, “O Salman! Reveal your story.” So I sat in front of him, relating my story to him and hoping that his Companions could also hear it. When I had finished, the Prophet said, “O Salman! Make a deal with your owner to free you.”
  • 97. Consequently, my master did agree to free me, but in exchange for the following: “Three hundred date trees, as well as one thousand, six hundred silver coins.” Hence, the Sahaba (Radhi Allaahu ‘anhum) helped by providing around twenty to thirty date plants each, and a tenth of every man's land in accordance to how much he owned. The Prophet (SallAllaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said to me, “Dig a hole for each date-plant. When you are finished, let me know so that I can personally fix all the date-plants into place with my own hands.” Thus, with the help of my friends, I dug holes wherever the date- plants were to be put. Later on, the Prophet came. We stood by his side holding the plants as he fixed them into the ground. I swear by The Being Who sent the Prophet with the Truth, not a single plant died out. Nevertheless, I still had the silver to pay. A man came to the Prophet bringing from the mines some gold which was roughly the size of a pigeon's egg. The Prophet said, “O Salman! Take this and pay off whatever you have to.” I replied, “O Messenger of Allah! How will this be enough for my debt?” He said, “Allah will surely make it sufficient for your debt.” As a result to this statement, I swear By Allah, it outweighed the one thousand, six hundred coins. I not only paid off my dues, but what I had left with me was equivalent to what I had given them. The strict honesty of the Prophet was one of the characteristics that led Salman to believe in him and accept Islam. Salman was released from slavery by the Prophet, who paid his Jewish master a stipulated price, and who himself planted an agreed number of date palms to secure Salman’s manumission. After accepting Islam, Salman would say when asked whose son he was, ‘I am Salman, the son of Islam from the children of Adam.’
  • 98. Conclusion Dear Brothers and Sisters, We have not been created futile; we have been created with a specific purpose. Allaah says: 1) “So Did you think that We created you without any purpose, and that you will not be brought back to Us?” (23: 115) 2) “I have not created the Jinn and the human beings, but that they may worship Me.” If we do not meet the purpose of our life, our life is futile. Any thing has its value as long as it fulfills its purpose of creation, for instance: computers, mobiles, vehicles, etc. we keep them and safeguard them as long as they are useful, in other words, as long as they fulfill their purpose of existence. As soon as they become useless, we throw them into scrap. The same is true in case of us too. We may be thrown into hell by our Lord if we do not fulfill the purpose of our life. So to meet the purpose of your life, you need to find the True God and the True Religion. Do not take it in jest, or your life may become ridiculous. You can find the truthfulness of Islam over other religion through only one fact that Islam alone asks you to worship only the Creator, whereas
  • 99. all other religions ask you to worship creatures/creations along with the creator. This fact alone is enough to find the truthfulness of Islam and the falsehood of other religions. There is no meaning in worshipping false gods and following false religions. No! No creation or creature can be god, because they have same weaknesses and same defects as other creation or creatures have. O man! Remind yourself your position among all creation and creatures. Allaah has made you Khalifa (viceroy) on the earth. Allaah says: 3) "I am going to appoint (Man as) a viceroy on the Earth". (2: 30) O Man! Remember you are superior to all creations. All creations have been created to serve you: 4) “He it is Who created for you all that is on the Earth.” (2: 29) ؕ ۙ 5) “He has subjected for you the night and the day and the sun and the moon, and the stars have also been made subservient by His command. Surely there are Signs in this for those who use their reason.” (16: 12) ؕ۠ 6) “He has subjected for you all that is in the heavens and the earth, from Him. Verily there are Signs in this for those who reflect.”
  • 100. Not just this, to show your superiority over other creations, Allaah has asked angels to bow down before Man: 7) “Then, We commanded the angels, ‘Bow yourselves to Adam.’ All bowed but Iblis.” Remember! You are superior to all creations. All creations are inferior to you. The only Being superior to you is Allaah, your Lord and God. So worship Him alone. If you believe in Allaah and do righteous deeds, you will retain your position and remain the best creature; if you reject faith in Allaah, you will become the worst creature: ؕؕ 8. “Those who disbelieved – be they from among the People of the Book or among those who associated others with Allaah – shall be in the Fire, and will abide in it. They are the worst of creatures. But those that believe and work righteous deeds, they are the best of creatures.” (98: 6, 7) The worst creature, because we see even pigs and dogs do not worship their fellow beings and other creatures. If a man/woman worships any man/woman, animals, trees, or any other creations, then he/she will become worse than pigs and dogs. So be the best creation, embrace Islam and worship Allaah Alone:
  • 101. ؕ "Say: 'O People of the Book! Come to a word common between us and you: that we shall worship none but Allaah and we shall not associate anything with Him and that some of us will not take others as lords beside Allaah.' And if they turn their backs (from accepting this call), tell them: 'Bear witness that we are Muslims (the ones who have submitted ourselves exclusively to Allaah.)”
