To drive a stick shift vehicle, the driver must use the clutch to engage and disengage gears by pressing the pedal, the shift knob to select between gears which can range from 5 to 8 gears depending on the car, and the accelerator or gas pedal to provide fuel to move the vehicle. The process involves putting the car in neutral using the clutch, engaging the clutch and shifting to first gear, slowly releasing the clutch as the car begins to move, depressing the gas as needed while shifting gears by again using the clutch as the RPMs rise, and repeating this process of clutch and gear selection while driving.

2. The clutch
The clutch is what is used to allow the shift knob to select a specific gear in said
vehicle. Clutches vary in size and weight depending on the car and may require more
or less leg strength to engage(press down) the clutch.

3. The shift knob
Pretty self explanatory here the “shift knob” is the instrument used to actually select
which gear the transmission uses. Some cars vary in the number of gears 6 gears, 5
gears, sometimes 7 or 8.

4. The Acclerator
Or the gas pedal, this is used to fuel the engine with gas and air creating energy
which then travels to the wheels proceeding to move the car because gravity.

5. 1st process
Engage clutch and make sure to put the car in neutral. Neutral is when no gear is
selected a state in which the vehicle is on and prepared to select a gear and move. Be
sure to disengage the clutch after putting the car in neutral

6. 2nd
After the vehicle is in neutral and the drivers feels their ready to go. Engage the clutch and select the
first gear. The first gear and all other gears for that matter are not always in the same spot on different
models of cars. So be weary and be sure to read the manual before attempting to avoid any damage to
the vehicle. Be sure to keep the clutch engaged

7. 3rd
While the clutch is engaged the driver will want to (this is very important) disengage
the clutch slightly until the car begins to move this means that the selected gear has
been engaged and the clutch can be released relatively SLOWLY

8. 4th
Proceed to depress the accelerator as necessary and the car should be rolling by now. Until the next
gear needs to be selected, when this happens the driver will notice a rise in RPMs or Revolutions per
minute, depending on the type of vehicle and it’s engine size the RPMS will be higher or lower. while
driving the speed in depressing the clutch and selecting the next gear should be relative to the speed
of the car.

9. 5th and final
The final process is to drive the car and repeat the 4th step as necessary and don’t‘
forget to NOT crash and have fun.
