Webhooks are user-defined HTTP callbacks that are used to invoke behavior on another site when an event occurs. Webhooks are great for creating loosely coupled architectures for integrating multiple heterogenous systems. In this talk I will show how to use RabbitMQ for two different applications. For the first one, how to setup a simple messaging application using different clients as Java, Java-Script, Python, Erlang, .Net, etc. For the second one, how to distribute long batch processes between more consumers in high-availability configuration. In both examples, we will see how to scale the application in terms of clients and brokers, we will see a few standard configurations for local cluster and geographics one. At the end of this talk, you will have walked through all the basics of RabbitMQ.

Through years of work have been trying many of Java frameworks which provides different level of abstractions on both server and client-side. Enforcing Bespoke Policies in Kubernetes
Kubernetes enables fully-automated, self-service management of large-scale, heterogenous deployments. These deployments are often managed by distributed engineering teams that have unique requirements for how the platform treats their workloads, but at the same time, they must conform to organization-wide constraints around cost, security, and performance. As Kubernetes matures, extensibility has become a critical feature that organizations can leverage to enforce their organization’s bespoke policies.
In this talk, Torin explains how to use extensibility features in Kubernetes (e.g., External Admission Control) to enforce custom policies over workloads. The talk shows how to build custom admission controllers using Initializers and Webhooks, and shows how the same features lay the groundwork for policy-based control through integration with third party policy engines like the Open Policy Agent project.

Altitude San Francisco 2018: HTTP/2 Tales: Discovery and Woe
HTTP/2 initially seemed promising for reducing latency, but caused intermittent slowdowns for the client's critical assets. Testing revealed HTTP/2 increased median page latency by 20-30% compared to HTTP/1.1. While HTTP/2 performs well in some scenarios, it was not suitable for delivering critical assets globally due to variance issues. Over time the performance of HTTP/2 has improved, but introducing artificial latency still results in a 2.3x slowdown, so HTTP/1.1 remains a better solution for this client's critical path resources.

Developing Revolutionary Web Applications using Comet and Ajax Push
Join the asynchronous web revolution! Because Ajax-based applications are almost becoming the de facto technology for designing web-based applications, it is more and more important that such applications react on the fly, or in real time, to both client and server events. AJAX can be used to allow the browser to request information from the web server, but does not allow a server to push updates to a browser. Comet solves this problem. Comet is a technology that enables web clients and web servers to communicate asynchronously, allowing real-time operations and functions previously unheard of with traditional web applications to approach the capabilities of desktop applications. This session will start to provide an brief introduction to the asynchronous web, AJAX polling, long polling, and Streaming, explaining the Bayeux protocol, Cometd, Grizzly Comet implementation on GlassFish. Different approaches and best practices to develop comet application will also be discussed. You will learn how to develop the chat application, how to implement distance learning slideshow application, how to manage a chat application from the server and how to develop a two-player distributed game application. Attendees will take away the tactics they need in order to add multiuser collaboration, notification and other Comet features to their application, whether they develop with Dojo, jQuery, jMaki, or Prototype and whether they deploy on Jetty, Tomcat, or the GlassFish Application Server.

TubeMogul grew from few servers to over two thousands servers and handling over one trillion http requests a month, processed in less than 50ms each. To keep up with the fast growth, the SRE team had to implement an efficient Continuous Delivery infrastructure that allowed to do over 10,000 puppet deployment and 8,500 application deployment in 2014. Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software Fuzzing
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.
