This document discusses how to build a Dart and Firebase app in 30 minutes. It outlines the key Firebase services that can be used including the realtime database, authentication, cloud storage, and hosting. It provides code examples for common tasks like loading and saving data to the realtime database, signing users in with authentication providers, and uploading files to cloud storage. The document recommends using the firebase3 package to easily integrate these Firebase services and build full-featured apps with Dart and Firebase quickly.
How AngularDart & Firebase did an App togetherJana Moudrá
Beyond seven mountain ranges, beyond seven rivers and beyond seven Google buildings lived a technology called Angular. One day it met another technology - Firebase and they decided to do an App together.
In this talk I will show you why AngularDart is a framework you should definitely take a look at and how you can use it together with Firebase to build great apps!

Are you a backend developer that’s being pushed into front end development? Are you frustrated with all JavaScript frameworks and build tools you have to learn to be a good UI developer? If so, this session is for you! We’ll explore the tools of the trade for fronted development (npm, yarn, Gulp, Webpack, Yeoman) and learn the basics of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. We’ll dive into the intricacies of Bootstrap, Material Design, ES6, and TypeScript. Finally, after getting you up to speed with all this new tech, we’ll show how it can all be found and integrated through the fine and dandy JHipster project.

Google’s Dirk Ginader thinks great developers are lazy, and there’s nothing wrong with that. After all, would you rather spend your time working on the mundane stuff — like minification, linting, compilation, unit testing, etc — or actually developing your code?
In this presentation, Dirk will show you how to set up the Grunt JavaScript Task Runner so that you and your team can focus on the fun!

Real World Lessons in Progressive Web Application & Service Worker CachingChris Love
Over the past year we have seen a lot of excitement around Progressive Web Applications. Browser evangelist are selling developers and business owners on their advantages and promising future. But what is the real story? What are the details to proper execution? What do engineers need to know to make their web sites into Progressive Web Applications that not only meet the minimum criteria, but meet the sales hype?
Searching the Pokedex offline is fun, what is the real experience like caching a business application? Caching application assets and data can be complex, especially for larger applications. What to cache, how long to cache and how to cache are all valid questions. Often, in an effort to just ship something, we cache nothing. When we don't cache, we disappoint the customer and miss a key promise of progressive web applications.

As your mobile users get accustomed to advanced features that require Cloud support, it becomes increasingly hard to protect their privacy while staying up to date with data protection regulations such as the GDPR. We would like to show you how you can continue to use cloud-based SDKs and employ Firebase to create an experience that pleases both your users and your newly hired data stewardship team.
In this workshop, you will learn how to build a SwiftUI application with Firebase. We will cover the following topics:
- Data modeling for Firestore
- Efficiently mapping Firestore data using Swift’s Codable protocol
- Fetching data from Firestore using snapshot listeners
- Connecting SwiftUI’s state management system to Firestore to implement real-time sync
- Securing your user’s data using Firebase Security Rules
- Signing in your users using Firebase Authentication
We will be using the latest versions of Firebase and SwiftUI, making use of Combine and async/await to demonstrate how to call asynchronous APIs using modern Swift technologies. Please bring your laptop, making sure to install the latest stable version of Xcode before the workshop.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.
