How Team Work Is A Essential For Health Care Facilities Essay
Team work is a crucial element in all organisations especially in health care facility which caters to
the needs of elderly clients wherein the safety and the lives of the clients are at stake. The
requirements for any organisation to achieve success are team cooperation, unity, and most
importantly, a shared vision. In a team where there are members who are different from one another,
especially with the old staff and new team members, conflicts may arise that may compromise the
quality of service being delivered to our clients. Common Performance Related Problems are the
following: 1. Poor Time management Poor prioritisation, timing and scheduling Lost time o
Tardiness, absenteeism, leaving without proper authorisation o Excessive phone use, break time o
Misuse of sick leave Slow response to work requests, untimely completion of assignments 2. Lack
of coordination and poor communication 3. Inappropriate behaviours ("poor attitude") Negativism,
unwillingness to cooperation, hostility Insubordination Refusal to take responsibility ("passing the
buck") Failure or refusal to follow instructions 4. Resistance to change Resistance to policy,
procedure, work method changes Unwillingness, refusal or inability to update skills Lack of
flexibility in response to problems http://www1.umn.edu/ohr/toolkit/performance/problems/types/

Self Improvement Within A Group
Group Improvement
Improvement within a group is just as important as self–improvement. Becoming a self–leader can
be accomplished by improving organization and time management skills; along with being well
rounded in many facets. Understanding that enhancing a group's performance can always be done
will, only better the outcome of their products.
Self–improvement tools are helpful and often only save time in the long run. It is often overlooked
because it is time consuming and seems extraneous. To run a business sometimes takes meticulous
skills, therefore making it important to always work to improve the talents one already possesses.
Along with honing in one's current talents, one they should learn new ones as well; to further their
knowledge in the workspace. Having a tenacious trait to want to become a better person is exactly
what one needs when working with a group. Often one may find themselves working with various
people in the group on specific tasks. Keeping everyone on the project involved and informed can
be difficult. Staying organized is crucial in group projects for the highest amount of productivity.
Time management is a key point to staying organized, especially in a group where it can be easy to
get off subject in a discussion.
Learning to overcome and work with adverse personalities can be difficult. Sometimes it is
necessary when working with others , so one can be moral and ethical when dealing with any
subject that may cause a problem in the group one

Collective Efficacy: Kareem As A Team Player
Before anyone can lead a team, he or she must be able to lead themselves. This same mindset
applies to efficacy. Self–efficacy must come first. Combining each individuals efficacy creates a
synergistic effect with collective efficacy being more powerful than the sum. Unfortunately, if the
star player is out of their league, then there can be a false sense of collective efficacy. In those
situations, the collective efficacy could be equal to or slightly greater than the star player's self–
efficacy. Wooden would not allow such. Abdul–Jabbar had the opportunity to set more records than
any other basketball player in history; however, Wooden developed Kareem to be team player where
he brought each individual's efficacy up through focusing

Reflection On Communication Skills
Section 1 – Introduction
This commentary will provide a reflection of the author's key skill competencies, particularly
focusing on communication, teamwork, problem–solving, interpersonal skill. A summary of these
keys skills will outline the author's key strengths and areas for future improvement relative to either
current weaknesses and or challenges.
Section 2 – Key Competence Framework
In carrying out this reflection of the author's key skills Kolb's (1984) Reflective Learning Cycle
theory (see Figure 1), Belbin's (1981) Team Role's Theory and Gibb's (1998) Reflective Cycle (see
Figure 2) was used. It is important to note that while these theorist's frameworks were used to
inform, the reflective process narrative consideration is more implicit than explicit.
2.1 Communication skills
Being an excellent listener is one of the best ways to become a good communicator. Throughout the
group work, the author demonstrated great communication skills when listening to her team's
different ideas and then taking them on board to create the best results. Fellow team members will
appreciate good listening skills, and so in return, it will have a positive impact to the group's mood,
and encouraging them to be confident to speak up and say their thoughts as they know their ideas
are being listened too.
It is important to understand other people's views. The author showed great empathy during the time
worked with her group. She saw things from her team member's

Once mentors have completed this programme, they will be on the local trust register of mentors.
Mentors must have an annual mandatory update and a review of knowledge and skills every three

years. The foundation for been a mentor is in building a good relationship with the student by so
doing it will help to reduce the usual anxieties of the student on a new placement. "The Placements

Abstract: Why are some teams successful and others unsuccessful? What criteria or attributes are
needed for success? Contemporary teaching and learning practice over the past few years in higher
education institutions has seen a proliferation of open–ended constructivist learning designs that
incorporate collaboration. This has promoted the need for identifying essential attributes needed for
successful teamwork. This study reviews the literature with a view of identifying a framework that
educators can use to help ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Successful teams are motivated, engaged and aim to achieve at the highest level;
Interdependence – team members need to create an environment where together they can contribute
far more than as individuals. A positive interdependent team environment brings out the best in each
person enabling the team to achieve their goals at a far superior level (Johnson & Johnson, 1995,
1999). Individuals promote and encourage their fellow team members to achieve, contribute, and
learn;
Interpersonal Skills includes the ability to discuss issues openly with team members, be honest,
trustworthy, supportive and show respect and commitment to the team and to its individuals.
Fostering a caring work environment is important including the ability to work effectively with
other team members;
Open Communication and positive feedback – actively listening to the concerns and needs of team
members and valuing their contribution and expressing this helps to create an effective work
environment. Team members should be willing to give and receive constructive criticism and
provide authentic feedback;
Appropriate team composition is essential in the creation of a successful team. Team members need
to be fully aware of their specific team role and understand what is expected of them in terms of
their contribution to the team and the project; and

Improvement Recommendation I think Jeff Bezos should be more flexible and pay more attention to
his employees, I know he has great passion for his ideas, I think Amazon would be stronger
financially if he allows the vision and ideas of his employee to be shared as well. Furthermore,
Bezos's Kindle Fire innovation will need more improvement to be able to compete with other tablets
in the market, even though Jeff Bezo's passion is just a tablet that is not as sophisticated like the
IPAD and the Windows tablet, I think suggestions from other employees or experts in technology
could bring in new ideas that would improve their existing product like the Kindle fire, accepting
other ideas would lead to increase in profits, and he could be compared to leaders like Steve Jobs.

Being A Good Team Player
Being a team player is more than just working well with a group of people. Playing softball has
taught me its true meaning. Being a team player is about staying positive, helping others do better,
and lifting up a teammate. In order to be a good team player, a person must stay positive. There are
times when a person makes an error or doesn't have a good at bat. Even though they commit an
error, if the just stay positive they can and will do better. Not believing in oneself is just going to
cause more damage. If a person is steadily focused on his or hers past mistakes instead of being
moving forward, then he or she will keep making mistakes. Playing a sport is a team effort, so when
one person is struggling it may disturb the flow of the

The Importance Of A Skill As A Team Player With Creating...
A skill is defined as "the ability, coming from one 's knowledge, practice, aptitude, etc., to do
something well." My three strongest skills would have to be teamwork, problem solving, and
leadership. I exemplify my teamwork skills by serving as a team player and creating positive work
relationships with everyone in my department to help achieve organizational goals. One example of
this would be assisting my fellow co–worker with a work project that she is unfamiliar with. I'm
also a good problem solver. I have the ability to identify problems in my department and generate
alternatives and implement a solution to preclude the problem. I look at problems from different
angles and try to see what would be the best solution. An example of this skill would be a recent
change I suggested in my department. There were multiple occasions where employees were
scheduled for training sessions, but were not being notified before the date of this activity causing
them to miss their training session. Many supervisors stated they themselves did not know the dates
when their employees were scheduled for training. To fix this ongoing issue I now print out a
training schedule every month and post it in the lunchroom and main office so that it is visible to
everyone in the department. I also send the schedule out in the beginning of the week of the
scheduled training session via email to all the supervisors. This has eliminated missed training
sessions and it also gives the opportunity for

Why Teams With The Best Players Win The Most Games
The governing wisdom in baseball is that the teams with the best players win the most games. Since
the best players cost the most money, and only the wealthiest teams can afford the best players, the
wealthier teams always win. Not exactly. This wisdom fails to answer why teams with the less
talented players often achieve great success and the teams with the most talent fail to consistently
achieve success. For small market teams such as the Oakland A's with low payrolls, this paradox
represented an opportunity to find value in players who are typically viewed as less talented by
baseball scouts.
Baseball success, contrary to traditional notions, shouldn't be based on buying the best players but
the most wins. Based on the simple ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead of looking for players that contributed to wins, scouts measured players talent through
observation of fundamental physical mechanics based on the "5 tools model;" running, throwing,
fielding and power hitting. However, Billy Beane and Paul DePodesta determined that players who
possessed "plate discipline," or the ability to control the outcome during batting was the hidden,
intangible value that a player is born with and is nearly impossible to coach or evaluate.
Billy Beane, et al., challenged the conventional wisdom that the best method to evaluate a player's
skill is to evaluate their physical mechanics by observation as opposed to the statistical analysis of a
players past success, which then determines a player's present value. This difference in player
evaluation and selection was the central conflict between the Oakland A's scouts and Billy Beane.
Finding these players is another problem entirely. Scouts prefer to look at players in high school
where there is little to no statistical data to measure their playing success. Billy Beane preferred to
look at college players because there is a wealth of recorded statistical data to measure and analyze.
Analysis and selection aside, Billy Beane faced the additional challenge of getting the cooperation
of his trainers and players to buy in to importance of the on–base percentage statistic as central to
the Oakland A's success. The problem with players is

A "team player" can be viewed as the dictionary defines it, but it can also be used to define things
that the dictionary meaning leads us into believing it can not be used on. A team player is not
necessarily someone who is on a sports team as most people have come to see it. It can be anyone
that works within a group with other people. The dictionary defines a team player as a person who
willingly works in cooperation with others (dictionary.com). Team players usually are the type of
people that have a great personality and can motivate themselves, while also motivating others. A
team player can be anyone; it could be someone in the military, in your family, or even at work. The

Jean Marc Bosm Football Player For Belgian League Team
The Bosman Ruling
The ease and freedom with which clubs transfer players between one another today would not have
been possible without the Bosman Ruling.
Jean–Marc Bosman was a football player for Belgian leagues team R.F.C de Liege, where he had a
contract until June 30th, 1990. When R.F.C. de Liege offered Bosman a new contract with a 75
percent salary reduction, Bosman declined the offer and was automatically placed on the transfer list
for the club. A second division team in France, USL Dunkerque, expressed interest in signing the
player and both teams negotiated the transfer. USL Dunkerque agreed to pay 1,200,000 Belgian
Francs for the first season and 4,800,000 Belgian Francs if they ended up acquiring the player after

1293). Bosman also took legal action against UEFA, the European Football Association, to the
European Court of Justice in an attempt to invalidate UEFA's "gentlemen's agreement". The
gentlemen's agreement, also known as the 3–plus–2 rule, allowed domestic leagues to set their own
maximum number of foreign players that a particular club could have. The 3–plus–2 rule states that
only three foreign players and two foreign players who had been in the country for more than five
years could play on the field at the same time for a club in domestic matches. In April 1992, the
Belgian Court of Justice declared no legal consequences for the suit, so Bosman decided to drop the
charges against his club and the Belgian league in order to develop a new claim against UEFA. In
his new claim, he stated that the 3–plus–2 rule and European transfer system breached the Articles
48, 85 and 86 of the Treaty of Rome, and they should be considered null and voided. (Lee, 1995) On
December 15th, 1995 the European Court of Justice finally reached a verdict and the transfer market
in European football was changed forever. According to Case C–415/93, "The European Court of
Justice ruled that it was illegal for clubs to stop players from moving clubs once their contracts have
expired. The European Court of Justice also banned the restrictions that a club could have on the
number of players that belong to the European Union." Before the rule was established, clubs had

Personal Statement : Self Management
Self–Management Strength: Self–management requires one to be able to accomplish one's goals and
is responsible for one's own behavior and well–being. Self–management skill is not only important
for oneself, but it can affect one's surroundings: organization and people. A manager should possess
an understanding of ethical issues, have strong work ethic, have high tolerance for ambiguity, and
express responsibility toward commitments. I find that self–management is closely tied with self–
empowerment because to be able to manage one's behavior, one has to be motivated to do so.
Because for the most parts, I am a motivated individual, I will use my motivation to enhance the
ability to manage my behavior. The characteristics that are important to self–management are
integrity and honesty because these characteristics deal with ethical issues. Integrity and honesty are
two of my values that I try to carry into every task and projects I have done. It is significant for me
to demonstrate these values because trust is the most important in building an interpersonal
relationship. Once the trust is broken, the relationship becomes difficult to repair. In the "Personal

The Importance Of Team And Team Work
Lessons Learned
I learned the definition of team and team work in the process of making group presentation for
assignments. A team is defined as a group of people with a set of complementary skills required to
finish or complete a job, task, or project. Team work is the ability to work together towards a
common vison or a goal. The capability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational
objectives. In my word, I say that teamwork acts as a fuel that allows common people to achieve
uncommon results. It is also important that everyone else in the team understands the meaning of
teamwork. We as team faced different challenges to work together online as most of us don't have
experience working under virtual teams. Further, we have learned that our job in planning all
aspects of our project is never done, and that each step that we take forward requires us to look
back, adjusting any existing documentation, plans, or schedules to ensure that we remain consistent
and up–to–date as we continue to progressively elaborate on our team work. We have learned that
this process can be both overwhelming and exhausting, but is finally rewarding. As a group, we
have learned that collaboration and responsibility sharing is important for the success of project
teams. It is far too much for any one person bear the burden of by themselves. The work of a project

The Role Of A Leader And Team Player
I am a hardworking, reliable and motivated individual who is able to work independently or

between the role of a leader and team player interchangeably whist conserving a positive working

development and patient safety as my priority. Paramedics aim to preserve life, prevent deterioration
and promote recovery. In addition, paramedics must also uphold their skills in a competent manner
in order to ensure patient safety and effective patient centred care. In many practice situations,
namely cardiac arrests, through the utilisation of the skills acquired on the paramedic degree
programme such as intubation, cannulation and defibrillation have all ultimately led to the
successful preservation of life. In previous employment as a lifeguard I have also been able to
encompass the preservation of life through holding the responsibility to safeguard vulnerable
swimmers. In turn, health and safety of the customer was paramount in order to prevent injury and
overall suffering. In addition, this role also required the need for effective communication as to

Leadership : Leadership And Followership
Leadership and followership are two sides of the same coin. However, one of these topics is more
closely studied than the other. Leadership is studied in the halls of famous universities and discussed
in various books and articles. Many of these discussions involve the same question; what makes a
good leader? The question to this answer is both the cause, and the product, of excellent leadership,
good followers. What a leader strives to create in the company can only be completed by a force of
followers with the ability to realize the leader 's vision. So instead of asking what makes a good
leader, it must first be asked what makes a good follower. As leadership and followership mirror one
another, looking at the parallels between the two may help to answer this question. Leaders are
meant to lead teams in an ethical manner in order to realize a vision for the company. Therefore, in
order to support the leader, followers must be able to work in a team and help actualize the leader 's
vision in an ethical manner. As the leaders develop their grand ideas, it is the followers who
actualize them, therefore it is necessary that effective followers have a conceptual understanding of
their business (Antelo, 2010). They must be able to do the job. A welder would not expect a career
ballerina to run a welding torch and a ballerina would never expect a welder to complete a pas de
deux. A good follower must understand what they are doing. This is the foundation of a follower 's
work.

Lessons That Football Teaches Essay
Imagine being member of a football team on the field while the crowd is cheering for their favorite
team. You are probably wondering, "WOW, I never thought that I will be part of this team." Football
is not for everyone and being part of a football team does not mean that you are going to be in the
spotlight. A person can learn much from playing football. Football teaches strength, discipline, and
how to be a team player. The most important lesson football teaches is how to be a team player. In
football teamwork is the most important because each member is working to achieve the same goal,
which is winning. Each player on the field is not worried about what they are doing but more of
working together to get the job done. Each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to teamwork, football also teaches discipline. Discipline is the result of commitment, a
love for the task, and passion for the game. These characteristics are usually enforced by infusing
commitment, passion, and love for the task while growing up at a young age. Discipline in football
controls your goals and accomplishments, which starts on the football field. When team players are
disciplined it means that they know what they want (to win games) and they do it the best they
know how by perfecting the basic skills, such as, tackling, running and blocking. Some examples of
discipline are showing up to practice on time and knowing what job is expected of you on the
football team. If you do not know, it can cause your team to lose games. Exercising throughout the
year is another example because the player's body has to be in shape year round. Physical and
mental strength plays a major role in a football player's life. Football is a twelve month process,
which consists of off– season (six months), in –season (five months), and the Transition (one
month). During off–season the football player's main goal is gaining strength, size, and much power,
in–season they continue to practice and work on maintaining the gains in strength during the off–
season, and the transition is when they rest and recuperate their body from the physical exercise.
Football players are constantly bumped and knocked down during practices

Personal Narrative-Best Player On A Soccer Team
I'm naturally exceptionally athletic, and, as such, have always been one of the top players on my
soccer team. I never felt challenged to be better, or try harder, because I was good enough without
having to put in much effort. Then, I was put on JV soccer my freshman year. Though crushing at
the time, it made me realize that I needed to push myself harder. Going into high school, I was
nervous, but fairly confident that I would make varsity. That is, until I went to try outs and saw that
my coach wasn't paying attention to me. He put me on a field with the other freshmen and then
turned his back to us so he could watch his returning players. When I saw my name on the JV list
the next day, I wasn't surprised, but it still hurt. Initially, I was angry with my coach for not giving
me a fair chance, but later I became determined to make him notice me. ... Show more content on

I started to see improvement, and my coach must have noticed as well, because he invited me to
come to the varsity tournament that weekend. I was excited for the opportunity to prove myself, but
after sitting for the first two games, I worried that I wasn't going to get my chance. When I saw that
I wasn't starting in the third and final game, I gave up nearly all hope that I would get to play. I was
starting to wonder if all my hard work was even worth it, when, all of a sudden, my coach told me to
get ready to go in. As I entered the game, I felt a little nervous, but I knew I was prepared. This was

College Admissions Essay: My Role As A Team Player
Throughout my life, I have been in many situations where I have to step up and be a leader. I have
experienced certain leadership traits being on multiple sports teams, having to help lead Wednesday
night church services, and also being a role in my family. I have acquired many different leadership
qualities throughout this including how to be a good listener, how to be a team player and how to
find the good in every situation. However, there are still some things that I have to work on. Such
as, having patience, having self control, and being there for anyone no matter the circumstances.
Playing in team sports has been a big role in making me the leader that I am today. I have had the
chance to play on the winning and the losing team. This has given me a different outlook on things.
I have learned that no matter how many times you fall, you have to get right back up and accept
your mistakes and better yourself not only for you but for your team. When most people fail, they
automatically have the mindset that they can not do it. By the motivation of my family and friends, I
have overcome that mindset and I never back down from a challenge, I just come back even
stronger. I know that the future generations look up to us and for that, I keep my own head up as
well as my team's heads because I know those younger kids will want ... Show more content on

Essay on Team Player
Team Player A team player can be associated to any type of profession a person participates. The
dictionary defines team players as a number of people associated together in work or activity. Team
players are the type of people with a tremendous personality who contribute and motivate
themselves in many areas. They include the military, sports, work, and families. However, there are
a few things team players are not. Let us explore these aspects closer. A team player must have a
tremendous personality to be successful. A tremendous personality includes being friendly, tactful,
and diplomatic. A friendly personality is good to help keep the other players in harmony. It is
imperative to have a friendly personality so others will ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When a team player gives time to other members of the team, other team members hold him in high
praise. This will affect team members putting forth additional effort. Sometimes team players will
contribute money if it helps the team reach its goal. Overall, team players contribute their ideas,
time, and money to bring the morale of the whole team to the highest possible level. A tremendous
personality and contribution will lead to positive motivation on a team. Motivation is the key to why
team players try so viciously. A team player motivates the people around him/her by always having
a positive attitude. Being recognized as a leader, he/she must set forth a good example. There are
two ways a team player can show motivation. They are always striving for mission accomplishment
and constantly wanting the team to be successful. A team player strives for mission accomplishment
by showing no concern for his/her own individual needs. This will make the team want to work
together as one until a particular task is accomplished. As a result, the team will be successful and
show great pride and dignity in whatever missions that may arise in the future. Therefore, a team
that achieves mission accomplishment and team success will produce many team players where
everyone is a leader. Team players can be found in different types of groups. They are in the military
service, on sports teams, in the work place, and inside of families. In the military, they are usually

Be An Effective Team Player
When working as part of a team it is very important to be an effective team player, being supportive
of others and remembering that effective results are achieved far quicker by working as a team than
on your own! TA's should recognise and not underestimate their own strengths and be prepared to
share their skills and expertise. Everyone should be willing to draw on their own expertise and
experience to contribute ideas and solutions. A TA should communicate with other team members in
an open, honest and constructive way, listening and paying attention to the opinions and ideas of
others. This helps to create a feeling of mutual respect and an atmosphere where people feel their
ideas and opinions are valued. Creative input from a range of perspectives

reflection on team work
In this essay I am going to reflect on my experience working as part of a team and the preparation
on an oral presentation I had to do in class with people from different courses, as part of the
Foundations for Practice in Health and Social Care module. Reflection is educational and is used as
a means of self–knowledge and to develop using a process of feeling and learning by thinking about
what happened and what could have been done differently. (Rolfe, 2011, p.8–12) I will be using the
Gibbs (1988) Reflective Cycle to do this. In this model there are 6 different stages to look at to help
structure reflection, the description of the event, your feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusion and

(Gorman, 1998). I feel as a group with different knowledge of the topic we worked well together
after we overcame the issue of picking a topic. It felt a little awkward at first in the storming stages,
but as every meeting passed it got better and we learned to work as a team. Everyone had a role and
we all understood each other's roles and what we needed to do to produce the final presentation.
When the person before me was going though their part I was thinking I can't do this and was
starting to shake. I thought we did well to present out topic to our peers and we received good
feedback from the lecturer. I was very pleased that I did a good job presenting even though I was
nervous.
To analyse the presentation and teamwork I need to be able to understand everyone has different
experiences and different ways of working and had their own view on teamwork. My confidence
grew as I got to know the team. Giving the presentation has helped me with my confidence, which I
will need when I am working in the health care. I have also learned to speak up more and encourage
others to take part when they where being quiet and not pulling their weight. It was good to do
research using the appropriate methods, looking at journals and professional sites. I managed to hold
it together during the presentation in front of everyone. I knew the presentation was not going to go

Teamwork : A Concept Analysis
Teamwork: A Concept Analysis A major concept that we have learned about in our nursing 182 class
is Teamwork. In this concept analysis we will see the conceptualization of teamwork, and critical
attributes, related concepts and various cases, and illegitimate uses of team work. Teamwork is
essential in the nursing field and this analysis will show just how important it is.
Concept Selection
I chose the topic of teamwork because, teamwork is an essential part of our nursing careers. We will
continually have to work with other nurses and doctors to help our patients receive the best care
they can receive. Not only is teamwork essential in the hospital, or nursing home, but, it is essential
in everyday lives, and I think that is why this is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is important to work as a team with healthcare professionals so that way you provide the best care
possible, get the job done right, and avoid errors (Elrick, 2016). In order to be a good team player
you must communicate with your team of nurses, a miscommunication could put a patient 's life in
danger. Being adaptable is also a big part in being a team player, especially when another nurse may
need your help with a patient. Knowing what the plan for things like emergencies, and sticking to
the plan will help things run smoothly and everyone working with you will know what is happening.
Finally, getting to know who you are working with is a key part of being a team member because if
you know how that person works, it will be easier for you to work with them.
Teamwork in nursing is a little different that the teamwork of an actual team. In nursing, there is an
'I' in team, except here the 'I' stands for independent (QSEN Institute, 2015). Nurses and hospital
faculty work their independent jobs, but communicate in order to give the patient the best care
possible. Once again as stated before by Berman, the QSEN Institute believes that knowing your
team 's strengths and weaknesses will also help you to be able to provide the best care possible.
According to the American Nurses Association (ANA), nurses are great team players because of
their adaptability, commitment,

Integrating An Individualistic Person Into A Team Player...
Integrating an Individualistic Person into a Team Player It's almost impossible to avoid group
projects or team activities in today's society. Most people have been a part of a team. Nearly
everyone has had to complete a group project for a class. Now within these situations, many have
experienced one person in the group that did not contribute to the project or team and there was
another person who took over the entire project and wanted to do everything on the team. The many
consequences of this is the disruption of team cohesion and holding the team back, inhibiting them
from completing the task at hand. This can definitely transfer over to the workplace. This is the
cause of an individualistic attitude. You can find them giving excuses for why they do not work in
teams or be in a group for their work, they can say "I do not work well with others," "I am too busy
to meet with a team," "I do not want to be stuck with a procrastinator," and "I'll wind up doing all
the work anyway." Although these are very undesirable circumstances the point of working in a
team is to be effective and efficient. Managers are searching for quality and quantity as a result of
and employees work and they believe working in a group or within a team will generate quality
work at a faster pace. Now if an employee were demonstrating such behavior, the organization must
handle it at once and not allow it to happen

There are many reasons why teamwork is more effective than working

The Ideal Team Player Summary
Patrick Lencioni, in his book the Ideal Team Player: How to recognize and Cultivate the Essential
Three Virtues, provides the reader, using a fable, the importance of the three virtues an ideal team
player must have. The fable highlights the journey of Jeff, the Chief Executive Officer at Valley
Builders, and executives Bobby and Clare in establishing a corporate culture built around the virtues
of: humility, hungry, and smart. The journey begins with the retirement of Jeff's uncle and his quick
promotion to CEO. Facing two large building projects, Jeff opts to focus on hiring the employees
needed to successfully complete the two builds. In addition to hiring, Jeff had to focus on the
turnover issues attributed to employee attitudes and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my opinion, humility encompasses an individual's level of self–awareness, willingness to put
others before themselves, and understands he or she still has things to learn. Lencioni asserts,
"Humility is the single greatest and most indispensable attribute of being a team player" (2016 p.
157). Therefore, if an employee is humble he or she has a high level of self–awareness, is selfless,
and values the contributions of other team members. In other words, a humble person would rather
see the team be successful rather than getting accolades for the contributions.
Hungry
A hungry employee is driven, wanting to do more, are motivated, and needs little, if any, push from
a manager (Lencioni, 2016 p. 159). This can be a positive or negative factor in teamwork. When an
employee is so driven that they think of nothing but work then the hunger becomes toxic to
themselves and the team. A team member without hunger is also detrimental to a team. They almost
always garner the most attention from the management and are doing just enough to get by.
Smart
The virtue Smart does not refer to the intelligence of a team member but rather how they interact
with others. To put it another way, they have common sense about how to treat other

Personal Example for Motivation: Motivation is very important part of a person's development. For

Instead I would relate to the group project we do in our master's. I have been part of many different
groups with different nationalities. I have closely observed each and every person how he or she

how people approach things differently. Its great to get to know different people different culture
their approaches and mainly their thinking. One thing which I observed in class is when given the
opportunity to the class to form their own groups nationality is what people choose and that hurts
me. I have other 5 Indians with me but we always want to work with others I thinks that is what
international business is all about working in a diverse team, some of them have bad examples to
post that a person led the performance down but it always happen that way. The dynamics of team
work is the main part of success. We had a marketing project to do but we as a team never got well
with each other. Everyone had their priorities and thus we performed bad. Everyone wanted to go
home and do their part alone instead of sitting together and sharing and creating ideas. This was the

Improving Team Operations And Quality Of Players
Big data is a new type of data that can be easily defined very large volumes of information, like stats
and numbers. Today we gather tons of data for many reasons, such as Walmart using it to track what
customers buy and in what areas, to governments using it to track crime rates and more, there are all
kinds of applications for processing big data. In sports, statistics play a huge role in determining
how good a player is, what they could improve on, and more. The big data phenomenon has now hit
the professional sports world, and could possibly revolutionize the way sports are played. To start
our discussion of how sports has began to use these new statistics from data to help improve team
operations and the quality of players, we must ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
All this information can be overwhelming for a team to analyze and process. Organizations may hire
a team of employees dedicated to processing these numbers. Others may look to outsource to
businesses who are experienced in implementing different information systems. These businesses
will either help the team set up these systems and coach them through it, or they may be hired to
simply use their systems to process a teams information and give them feedback. An example of one
of these businesses is The Sports Office, which is located in London. They offer systems for soccer,
rugby, colleges, and others. These systems can offer player specific improvement plans, a
centralized database for all segments, and data mining capabilities among others. These programs
can help coaches analyze the best practice for winning and helps them with HR segments of sports,
which all lead to a better team and a competitive advantage. Sports business is very similar to any
other business model. The objective is to continuously improve, whether it 's to get employees more
involved, including those on the field or court, or to improve internal operations of the business.
Owners hire intelligent general managers and operations managers to assemble the coaching staff
and players and make sure the team is as competitive as possible. While teams try to improve fan
experience to gain new and repeat customers, the main driver of fan loyalty is how the team
performs. Teams generate revenues

Personal Narrative: Player On The Tennis Team
The night that I will think about on my death bed began with me walking into a diner at sunset. The
Diner was the official hang out spot for my high school. The air hockey and foosball table in the
back attracted many of my peers. Today, however, it was mostly empty, except for a few people
sitting at the bar. I sat down as well, squinting at the sunset glare from the mirror behind the counter.
"Hey, Buddy," Sal said as he fiddled with the cash register. "Two plain slices and a Pepsi?" Sal was
one of the first people I met when I first came to this diner. After a month had gone by of me

the year. They say time flies when you're having fun, but I think it's the opposite, I think time slows
down when you're having fun, because it's those few moments that you're going to remember later. I
was so lost in thought that I didn't even hear the ring as the door flew open. And I didn't see Patty

The sun may have set but the sky was still grey and filled with leftover light, and some of the glare
had made its way into the diner and reflected on Patty's gem covered shoes. I glanced down,

  • 3. Collective Efficacy: Kareem As A Team Player Before anyone can lead a team, he or she must be able to lead themselves. This same mindset applies to efficacy. Self–efficacy must come first. Combining each individuals efficacy creates a synergistic effect with collective efficacy being more powerful than the sum. Unfortunately, if the star player is out of their league, then there can be a false sense of collective efficacy. In those situations, the collective efficacy could be equal to or slightly greater than the star player's self– efficacy. Wooden would not allow such. Abdul–Jabbar had the opportunity to set more records than any other basketball player in history; however, Wooden developed Kareem to be team player where he brought each individual's efficacy up through focusing ... Being a team player is about staying positive, helping others do better, and lifting up a teammate. In order to be a good team player, a person must stay positive. There are times when a person makes an error or doesn't have a good at bat. Even though they commit an error, if the just stay positive they can and will do better. Not believing in oneself is just going to cause more damage. If a person is steadily focused on his or hers past mistakes instead of being moving forward, then he or she will keep making mistakes. • 12. The Importance Of A Skill As A Team Player With Creating... A skill is defined as "the ability, coming from one 's knowledge, practice, aptitude, etc., to do something well." My three strongest skills would have to be teamwork, problem solving, and leadership. I exemplify my teamwork skills by serving as a team player and creating positive work relationships with everyone in my department to help achieve organizational goals. One example of this would be assisting my fellow co–worker with a work project that she is unfamiliar with. I'm also a good problem solver. I have the ability to identify problems in my department and generate alternatives and implement a solution to preclude the problem. I look at problems from different angles and try to see what would be the best solution. An example of this skill would be a recent change I suggested in my department. There were multiple occasions where employees were scheduled for training sessions, but were not being notified before the date of this activity causing them to miss their training session. Many supervisors stated they themselves did not know the dates when their employees were scheduled for training. To fix this ongoing issue I now print out a training schedule every month and post it in the lunchroom and main office so that it is visible to everyone in the department. I also send the schedule out in the beginning of the week of the scheduled training session via email to all the supervisors. This has eliminated missed training sessions and it also gives the opportunity for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Why Teams With The Best Players Win The Most Games The governing wisdom in baseball is that the teams with the best players win the most games. Since the best players cost the most money, and only the wealthiest teams can afford the best players, the wealthier teams always win. Not exactly. This wisdom fails to answer why teams with the less talented players often achieve great success and the teams with the most talent fail to consistently achieve success. For small market teams such as the Oakland A's with low payrolls, this paradox represented an opportunity to find value in players who are typically viewed as less talented by baseball scouts. Baseball success, contrary to traditional notions, shouldn't be based on buying the best players but the most wins. Based on the simple ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Instead of looking for players that contributed to wins, scouts measured players talent through observation of fundamental physical mechanics based on the "5 tools model;" running, throwing, fielding and power hitting. However, Billy Beane and Paul DePodesta determined that players who possessed "plate discipline," or the ability to control the outcome during batting was the hidden, intangible value that a player is born with and is nearly impossible to coach or evaluate. Billy Beane, et al., challenged the conventional wisdom that the best method to evaluate a player's skill is to evaluate their physical mechanics by observation as opposed to the statistical analysis of a players past success, which then determines a player's present value. This difference in player evaluation and selection was the central conflict between the Oakland A's scouts and Billy Beane. Finding these players is another problem entirely. Scouts prefer to look at players in high school where there is little to no statistical data to measure their playing success. Billy Beane preferred to look at college players because there is a wealth of recorded statistical data to measure and analyze. Analysis and selection aside, Billy Beane faced the additional challenge of getting the cooperation of his trainers and players to buy in to importance of the on–base percentage statistic as central to the Oakland A's success. Jean Marc Bosm Football Player For Belgian League Team The Bosman Ruling The ease and freedom with which clubs transfer players between one another today would not have been possible without the Bosman Ruling. Jean–Marc Bosman was a football player for Belgian leagues team R.F.C de Liege, where he had a contract until June 30th, 1990. When R.F.C. de Liege offered Bosman a new contract with a 75 percent salary reduction, Bosman declined the offer and was automatically placed on the transfer list for the club. A second division team in France, USL Dunkerque, expressed interest in signing the player and both teams negotiated the transfer. USL Dunkerque agreed to pay 1,200,000 Belgian Francs for the first season and 4,800,000 Belgian Francs if they ended up acquiring the player after the end of ... Bosman also took legal action against UEFA, the European Football Association, to the European Court of Justice in an attempt to invalidate UEFA's "gentlemen's agreement". The gentlemen's agreement, also known as the 3–plus–2 rule, allowed domestic leagues to set their own maximum number of foreign players that a particular club could have. The 3–plus–2 rule states that only three foreign players and two foreign players who had been in the country for more than five years could play on the field at the same time for a club in domestic matches. In April 1992, the Belgian Court of Justice declared no legal consequences for the suit, so Bosman decided to drop the charges against his club and the Belgian league in order to develop a new claim against UEFA. In his new claim, he stated that the 3–plus–2 rule and European transfer system breached the Articles 48, 85 and 86 of the Treaty of Rome, and they should be considered null and voided. (Lee, 1995) On December 15th, 1995 the European Court of Justice finally reached a verdict and the transfer market in European football was changed forever. According to Case C–415/93, "The European Court of Justice ruled that it was illegal for clubs to stop players from moving clubs once their contracts have expired. The European Court of Justice also banned the restrictions that a club could have on the number of players that belong to the European Union." Before the rule was established, clubs had the ... The school bus carrying 50 sleeping high schoolers pulls into a gravel parking lot, joining a crowd of buses and vans already lining the edge of a vast grassy field. A never–ending white line is painted on the short–clipped grass marking a trail. It follows the outside of the expanse, along the parking lot, beside the road, up and down the hills and valleys, and through small patches of trees and brush at the far end of the field. I can tell by the looks that my friends shoot back at me that they are thinking "I don't want to do this, it's gonna be the worst" and "I can't wait for this to be over." But I force myself to think of the positives: "Once this race is over, I won't have any more big races this season. Plus, I'll feel really good afterwards. Who knows, maybe this race I'll finally improve." But at the same time, I am still thinking all the same negative thoughts as my friends. Even so, I decide that I should push hard this race. Maybe I can finally lower my time. Even though I work hard, it seems that I can never move up in the pack. I am almost always one of the last on my team to finish. Self–management skill is not only important for oneself, but it can affect one's surroundings: organization and people. A manager should possess an understanding of ethical issues, have strong work ethic, have high tolerance for ambiguity, and express responsibility toward commitments. I find that self–management is closely tied with self– empowerment because to be able to manage one's behavior, one has to be motivated to do so. Because for the most parts, I am a motivated individual, I will use my motivation to enhance the ability to manage my behavior. The characteristics that are important to self–management are integrity and honesty because these characteristics deal with ethical issues. Integrity and honesty are two of my values that I try to carry into every task and projects I have done. It is significant for me to demonstrate these values because trust is the most important in building an interpersonal relationship. Once the trust is broken, the relationship becomes difficult to repair. In the "Personal Values" assessment, I scored relatively high in all the categories, except spiritual. • 21. The Importance Of Team And Team Work Lessons Learned I learned the definition of team and team work in the process of making group presentation for assignments. A team is defined as a group of people with a set of complementary skills required to finish or complete a job, task, or project. Team work is the ability to work together towards a common vison or a goal. The capability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. In my word, I say that teamwork acts as a fuel that allows common people to achieve uncommon results. It is also important that everyone else in the team understands the meaning of teamwork. We as team faced different challenges to work together online as most of us don't have experience working under virtual teams. Further, we have learned that our job in planning all aspects of our project is never done, and that each step that we take forward requires us to look back, adjusting any existing documentation, plans, or schedules to ensure that we remain consistent and up–to–date as we continue to progressively elaborate on our team work. We have learned that this process can be both overwhelming and exhausting, but is finally rewarding. As a group, we have learned that collaboration and responsibility sharing is important for the success of project teams. It is far too much for any one person bear the burden of by themselves. • 23. Leadership : Leadership And Followership Leadership and followership are two sides of the same coin. However, one of these topics is more closely studied than the other. Leadership is studied in the halls of famous universities and discussed in various books and articles. Many of these discussions involve the same question; what makes a good leader? The question to this answer is both the cause, and the product, of excellent leadership, good followers. What a leader strives to create in the company can only be completed by a force of followers with the ability to realize the leader 's vision. So instead of asking what makes a good leader, it must first be asked what makes a good follower. As leadership and followership mirror one another, looking at the parallels between the two may help to answer this question. Leaders are meant to lead teams in an ethical manner in order to realize a vision for the company. Therefore, in order to support the leader, followers must be able to work in a team and help actualize the leader 's vision in an ethical manner. As the leaders develop their grand ideas, it is the followers who actualize them, therefore it is necessary that effective followers have a conceptual understanding of their business (Antelo, 2010). They must be able to do the job. A welder would not expect a career ballerina to run a welding torch and a ballerina would never expect a welder to complete a pas de deux. A good follower must understand what they are doing. This is the foundation of a follower 's work. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In addition to teamwork, football also teaches discipline. Discipline is the result of commitment, a love for the task, and passion for the game. These characteristics are usually enforced by infusing commitment, passion, and love for the task while growing up at a young age. Discipline in football controls your goals and accomplishments, which starts on the football field. When team players are disciplined it means that they know what they want (to win games) and they do it the best they know how by perfecting the basic skills, such as, tackling, running and blocking. Some examples of discipline are showing up to practice on time and knowing what job is expected of you on the football team. If you do not know, it can cause your team to lose games. Exercising throughout the year is another example because the player's body has to be in shape year round. Physical and mental strength plays a major role in a football player's life. Football is a twelve month process, which consists of off– season (six months), in –season (five months), and the Transition (one month). During off–season the football player's main goal is gaining strength, size, and much power, in–season they continue to practice and work on maintaining the gains in strength during the off– season, and the transition is when they rest and recuperate their body from the physical exercise. • 32. Integrating An Individualistic Person Into A Team Player... Integrating an Individualistic Person into a Team Player It's almost impossible to avoid group projects or team activities in today's society. Most people have been a part of a team. Nearly everyone has had to complete a group project for a class. Now within these situations, many have experienced one person in the group that did not contribute to the project or team and there was another person who took over the entire project and wanted to do everything on the team. The many consequences of this is the disruption of team cohesion and holding the team back, inhibiting them from completing the task at hand. This can definitely transfer over to the workplace. This is the cause of an individualistic attitude. You can find them giving excuses for why they do not work in teams or be in a group for their work, they can say "I do not work well with others," "I am too busy to meet with a team," "I do not want to be stuck with a procrastinator," and "I'll wind up doing all the work anyway." Although these are very undesirable circumstances the point of working in a team is to be effective and efficient. Managers are searching for quality and quantity as a result of and employees work and they believe working in a group or within a team will generate quality work at a faster pace. In my opinion, humility encompasses an individual's level of self–awareness, willingness to put others before themselves, and understands he or she still has things to learn. Lencioni asserts, "Humility is the single greatest and most indispensable attribute of being a team player" (2016 p. 157). Therefore, if an employee is humble he or she has a high level of self–awareness, is selfless, and values the contributions of other team members. In other words, a humble person would rather see the team be successful rather than getting accolades for the contributions. Hungry A hungry employee is driven, wanting to do more, are motivated, and needs little, if any, push from a manager (Lencioni, 2016 p. 159). This can be a positive or negative factor in teamwork. When an employee is so driven that they think of nothing but work then the hunger becomes toxic to themselves and the team. A team member without hunger is also detrimental to a team. They almost always garner the most attention from the management and are doing just enough to get by. To me, being a team player is important because it creates synergy where the sum is ultimately greater than the parts, and this helps to support a more empowered way of working, removing constraints which may prevent someone doing their job properly. The Diner was the official hang out spot for my high school. The air hockey and foosball table in the back attracted many of my peers. Today, however, it was mostly empty, except for a few people sitting at the bar. I sat down as well, squinting at the sunset glare from the mirror behind the counter. "Hey, Buddy," Sal said as he fiddled with the cash register. "Two plain slices and a Pepsi?" Sal was one of the first people I met when I first came to this diner. After a month had gone by of me coming in and ordering the same dish – two slices of pizza with a pepsi – Sal began to take notice of me. Now, even though I couldn't call him an actual friend ... They say time flies when you're having fun, but I think it's the opposite, I think time slows down when you're having fun, because it's those few moments that you're going to remember later. I was so lost in thought that I didn't even hear the ring as the door flew open. And I didn't see Patty Bell walk in. The moment I noticed her wasn't when she sat down next to me, or when she ordered a slice of veggie pizza. The sun may have set but the sky was still grey and filled with leftover light, and some of the glare had made its way into the diner and reflected on Patty's gem covered shoes. I glanced down, noticing how the purple, plastic jewels looked very familiar to me. Then, I noticed the girl's posture, the color of her hair, and I even recognized the tip of her ...
