Excessive TV viewing can be harmful to children's development and health. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children under 2 years not watch TV and those 2-18 years watch no more than 1-2 hours per day of high-quality programming. Too much screen time can interfere with important activities like physical activity, social interaction, and learning. Children who watch more than 4 hours of TV per day are more likely to be overweight and witnessing violence on TV has been linked to more aggressive behavior. Parents should limit TV time and monitor content to prevent these harmful effects.
Television can negatively impact children's health by promoting snacking while watching, which can lead to obesity. Too much TV during early brain development has also been linked to poorer academic performance later in life. Excessive television viewing reduces physical activity which is important for healthy development and can increase the risk of obesity and related health issues.
There are many reasons why it is important to limit a child’s use of electronic devices. However, many parents aren’t sure how to go about limiting their child’s screen time – especially when it comes to video games. Parents should be aware of the risks involved when their child plays video games and set rules and restrictions for their safety.

At one time when you heard the word “obesity”, it was usually aimed at adults but sadly, it is now aimed at children. When an adult or child is obese, it can lead to arthritis, diabetes, coronary heart disease, and more.
PDHPE (Personal Development, Health and Physical Education) teaches children healthy ways of living through maintaining good social, emotional, and physical well-being. Health is defined by the WHO as complete well-being, not just the absence of disease. While PDHPE is as important as other subjects, only 8-10% of school time is dedicated to it, though schools must provide 2 hours of vigorous activity per week for students ages 5-12. The "Crunch and Sip" program allows for fruit/veggie breaks to calm and refuel students at 10am. PDHPE aims to educate children on maintaining health and seeking help for problems.
Corinne Phillips aims to educate children so they can make informed decisions about life. As a teacher of PDHPE, she wants to address important health issues like obesity, drugs, and sun safety by giving children all the information needed to create healthy lifestyles and make good choices about food and exercise. Her goals are to increase physical activity in schools and reinvent PDHPE programs so children can learn to make informed choices that will prevent health problems and combat today's sedentary lifestyles.
Hagop's Theory of Development outlines key stages of child development from pre-birth through high school and beyond. There are four main types of development - physical, cognitive, social, and personality. During pregnancy, it is important for mothers to take care of their health and for fathers to support the mother. For newborns, only immediate family should handle them due to germ risks. Pre-K is important for education and social development. In elementary years, neglect can harm children so love, time, nutrition and exercise are essential. In high school, parents must continue guiding through example despite less control. Overall, responsible parenting through example, education, nutrition and safety typically leads to successful child development.

Coercivity weighted Langevin magnetisation: A new approach to interpret super...Dhanesh Rajan
This document summarizes a new approach called "coercivity weighted Langevin magnetization" that more accurately models the superparamagnetic and nonsuperparamagnetic behavior of single domain magnetic nanoparticles. It presents results showing how coercivity and remanence in the single domain regime can be predicted as functions of particle size, temperature, and measurement frequency. The new model combines steady and time-varying magnetization dynamics and considers factors affecting the superparamagnetic state. It defines the transition between superparamagnetic and nonsuperparamagnetic states more precisely and allows direct calculation of coercivity-weighted magnetization and susceptibility.
This document discusses signs and symptoms of respiratory distress in both adults and pediatrics. In pediatrics, signs include increased respiratory rate over 60 breaths per minute, head bobbing, nasal flare, grunting, wheezing, cyanosis, and stridor. Expiratory grunting and see-sawing are attempts to increase intrinsic PEEP and reduce work of breathing. Apnea may indicate fatigue requiring respiratory support. In adults, signs are tachypnea over 20 breaths per minute, nasal flaring, grunting, use of accessory muscles, and central cyanosis and stridor may indicate airway obstruction.
Septicarthritis is an inflammation of the synovial membrane of a joint caused by bacterial, viral, or fungal infection. Staphylococcus aureus is the most common cause in adults. Symptoms include severe pain, swelling, warmth and limited range of motion in the infected joint. Diagnosis involves joint fluid analysis showing purulent material and inflammatory markers. Treatment requires antibiotics, drainage of pus, and sometimes surgery. Without rapid treatment, joint destruction and long-term disability can occur.

Common peroneal nerve lesions often present with foot drop and loss of sensation in the lower leg and foot. The common peroneal nerve is susceptible to injury where it passes between muscles in the leg and around the fibula bone. Injuries can occur from trauma, fractures, compression, ischemia or tight footwear and result in weakness of ankle dorsiflexion. Physical exams may show reduced foot movement and sensation loss while nerve conduction studies can identify injuries. Treatment focuses on bracing, stimulation, positioning and protective devices to prevent foot drop and sprains.

This document discusses vasoactive drugs, which affect vasomotor tone by causing vasoconstriction or vasodilation. It describes several classes of vasoactive drugs including vasodilators like hydralazine and nitroglycerin that work by different mechanisms in the arteries and veins. Vasoconstrictors like phenylephrine and vasopressin are also discussed. Many vasoactive drugs have direct effects on the heart by acting on receptors in the cardiovascular system. Inodilators like milrinone cause both vasodilation and increased cardiac contractility. Specific drugs such as dopamine, norepinephrine, and epinephrine are explained in terms of their vascular and cardiac effects.
This document discusses fractures of the elbow and forearm. It describes the anatomy of the elbow joint and various types of fractures that can occur in the distal humerus, radial head, coronoid process, and olecranon. Treatment options for different fracture patterns include closed reduction, open reduction and internal fixation using plates, screws and tension band wiring. Complications like stiffness, non-union and nerve injuries are also discussed. Physiotherapy management aims to regain range of motion, muscle strength, and function.
1. The document discusses posture analysis and identifies key aspects to evaluate, including the spinal curves, pelvis, shoulders, and lower extremities from the lateral, posterior, and anterior views.
2. Correct posture maintains the natural curves of the spine with minimal joint stress, while poor posture can result from positional habits, muscle imbalances, or underlying medical conditions and lead to increased joint stress.
3. A thorough posture analysis examines the body with reference to plumb lines and assesses for common postural faults in each region, such as rounded shoulders, anterior pelvic tilt, or foot pronation.
Watching too much television can negatively impact children's behavior, health, and development according to a study. The study found that children who watched more TV had increased grey matter in brain regions linked to lower intelligence. Excessive TV watching can replace activities that are better for development like outdoor play, reading, and social interaction. It can also contribute to issues like obesity, poor sleep, and aggressive behavior. Parents are encouraged to limit TV time and choose educational programming to prevent harmful effects.
Children and watching tv (reading comprehension)Tatjana Lipovac
Children in the United States watch an average of three to four hours of television per day, spending more time watching TV than in the classroom by high school graduation. While television can entertain and inform, it may also influence children in undesirable ways by taking away from activities like reading, schoolwork, exercise, and family interaction. Parents can help by not allowing long blocks of TV, choosing educational shows, and setting periods when the television will be turned off to encourage other activities.
TV viewing can reduce parent-child interaction, which is important for children's development. A study found that mothers talked and interacted much more with their children during book reading and toy play than during TV watching. TV watching suppressed both the quantity and quality of communication between mothers and children. In contrast, book reading and toy play encouraged more communication. Due to these effects on parent-child interaction, the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that children under 2 years old should not watch TV.
Social media and television can have both positive and negative effects on children's development. Positively, media can educate children about different cultures and inspire them. However, it can also expose children to inappropriate content and potentially lead to issues like cyberbullying, addiction, and negative health effects from excessive use. As a parent, it is important to monitor what children are exposed to online and on television, set limits on screen time, and encourage educational and active use of media.
Watching too much TV can harm children in several ways. It can negatively influence their development of values through exposure to violence, sex, and alcohol in TV programs. It can also negatively impact their physical health by reducing fitness and potentially leading to obesity from lack of exercise and exposure to junk food advertising. Additionally, excessive TV watching can prevent children from gaining important social skills by interacting in the real world, which they will need to develop for healthy social and emotional functioning. While TV can provide some educational benefits, the harms of too much viewing outweigh any positives.
Parents should control their children's TV watching to some extent by limiting screen time and influencing what programs are watched. Young children benefit from parents being present to explain what is happening on TV and demonstrate that it should be used selectively. Limiting TV time allows children to discover their own interests through other activities and do homework without distraction. While TV can increase children's knowledge in some areas, excessive viewing may desensitize them to violence and cause other issues, so parental guidance is important.
Watching TV can harm children's mental and physical health in several ways. It promotes negative and violent behaviors which children may emulate. It also leads to poorer school performance as kids spend less time on homework, outdoor activities and socializing when watching TV. Additionally, TV viewing contributes to obesity as kids consume more calories from junk food ads and become sedentary from extensive watching. TV's commercial influence can also create pressure on parents. Overall, controlling TV viewing benefits children's well-being and development.
Pretend you have been asked by the president of the united statesto .pdffashiionbeutycare
Pretend you have been asked by the president of the united statesto chair a special task force that
is to write a national policy statement on children\'s exposure to television. What
recommendations would you make concerning viewing hours and type of shows to be aired?
Relating television back to cognitive development, give two examples of how young children
might misunderstand plots of television shows or claims made on advertisements.
Solution
individuals suffering from social isolation can employ television to create what is termed a
parasocial or faux relationship with characters from their favorite television shows and movies as
a way of deflecting feelings of loneliness and social deprivation.Just as an individual would
spend time with a real person sharing opinions and thoughts, pseudo-relationships are formed
with TV characters by becoming personally invested in their lives as if they were a close friend
so that the individual can satiate the human desire to form meaningful relationships and establish
themselves in society. The pleasurable effects of television may be likened to an addictive
activity, producing \"momentary pleasure but long-term misery and regret.\"When a person plays
video games or watches TV, the basal ganglia portion of the brain becomes very active and
dopamine is released.Release of high amounts of dopamine reduces the amount of the
neurotransmitter available for control of movement, perception of pain and pleasure and
formation of feelings.Watching television starting at a young age can profoundly effect
children\'s development. These effects include obesity, language delays, and learning disabilities.
Physical inactivity while viewing TV reduces necessary exercise and leads to over-eating.
Language delays occurs when a child doesn\'t interact with others. Children learn language best
from live interaction with parents or other individuals. Resulting learning disabilities from over-
watching TV include ADHD, concentration problems and even reduction of IQ. Children who
watch too much television can thus have difficulties starting school because they aren\'t
interested in their teachers. Children should watch a maximum of 2 hours daily if any television.
At the same time, television can help young people discover where they fit into society, develop
closer relationships with peers and family, and teach them to understand complex social aspects
of communication.
Recommendations are:
Give a specific time,ie, like 2 hours/day for television watching and engage them in oter leisures
such as sports, arts, etc. The type of shows must be informative, such as about new
hobbies, improvements in science and technology and new discoveries or about great
people.Never go for anything like dating shows or something explicit children..

Negative impacts of technology on child's mental health.docxVigour360
In the age of technology, children have easy access to different gadgets such as iPad, laptops, iPhone, smartphones etc. Parents introduce screens to kids as learning medium, on the contrary misuse and overuse of technology adversely impact child’s mental health.
According to observational studies there is a correlation between screen media exposure and increase obesity risks and behavioural problems in children and teens.
Research suggests that children and adolescents often exhibit mindless eating behaviours while watching TV or engaging in video games, contributing to an increase in obesity rates within this age group. Additionally spending hours in front of screens decreases the physical or outdoor activities. There is wide gap between calories consumed and calories burned.

Report Effects of Cartoons on Children Furqan Aslam
This document is a report submitted by Furqan Aslam to their instructor Dr. Tanveer Anjum on the effects of cartoons on children. It includes an acknowledgment, letter of transmittal, index, introduction, discussion of the role of TV channels, effects on children including violence and influence on psychology, research conducted including a questionnaire, graphical representation of results, conclusion suggesting negative impacts, and suggestions for parents. The report analyzes how cartoons can shape child behavior and psychology through characters and storylines.
This document summarizes a marketing research project on the impact of television on children aged 6-8. The research was conducted in Panchkula and studied 80 children. The findings show that most children watch TV before and after school. Many children reported having nightmares from certain shows. Most families debated what shows children can watch and enforced rules around TV viewing. The analysis found that around half of families had 2 children, and most watched an average of 3.5 hours of TV per day. This level of viewing can negatively impact children's behavior, body image, gender roles, and reading skills. The document suggests parents limit TV time and discuss shows to mitigate these impacts.
Watching too much TV can have negative effects on children's health, learning, behavior, and social development. It can impact sleep, eyesight, and increase obesity risks. Excessive TV watching may hinder children's concentration and studying as well as promote negative behaviors and distorted thinking. It can also isolate children from social interaction and hinder the development of important social skills.
Technology is now accessible in almost every part of the world and it has completely changed the way we interact with one another. Though we’ve made many great technological advances, studies have shown that screen time can have an impact on your child’s development.
The document discusses the benefits and limitations of television. It notes that television can help children's intellect when they watch educational programming, as it can teach them things they wouldn't otherwise see like different cultures. However, it can also have negative impacts like exposing children to inappropriate content at a young age and reducing time spent on other important activities. In conclusion, television can be valuable when used in moderation and for educational purposes, but excessive screen time should be avoided.
Television can have both positive and negative influences. On the positive side, TV can entertain, inform, persuade, enlighten and educate viewers. However, excessive TV viewing can also desensitize people to violence, promote short attention spans and encourage unhealthy behaviors. In particular, heavy TV watching by children can reduce time spent on important developmental activities, impair attention and focus, and increase risks of obesity.
This project report summarizes a student initiative to raise awareness about reducing TV watching time. The students conducted a survey that found most children watch at least 30 minutes of TV daily, but would prefer spending time reading or playing outside if they cut back on TV. The students interviewed one child and parent who stopped TV for a day, finding it difficult at first but productive in using the time for other activities. The conclusion is that reducing TV time requires effort from parents but allows children to spend their time more productively.

2. HOW MANY HOURS OF TV IS SAFE FOR CHILDREN
Television has a great influence on children and adults as well. On an average,
children from all over the world watch four to five hours of TV a day. By the
time they step into their high school graduation, kids spend more time viewing
television than they attend lectures in the classroom. Even though television
can inform, entertain and keep your children company, it can also affect them
in uninvited ways. Below are some disadvantages of watching Television.
Television drives children away from a healthy life
The time spent viewing TV drives children away from vital activities
like school work, reading, exercise, playing, family interaction, social
development and mental development. Children may acquire
knowledge from television both in an inappropriate or appropriate
way, but chances of the wrong influence is higher. Kids often are not
able to differentiate between the reality and the fantasy presented on
TV. Thousands of commercials that are broadcasted each year such as
ads for junk food, alcohol, toys, and fast foods, etc. influence children
greatly.
3. TV ruins both health and study
Kids, who are into watching TV, a lot, are probable to score low
grades in school and high schools, read fewer books, become
overweight, exercise less, become violent, have race, sexuality and
gender stereotypes, become addicted to drug and alcohol. Young
minds are vulnerable and may adopt all that they see on TV without
knowing whether it is safe, acceptable and typical. Consequently, TV
also exposes kids to attitudes and behaviors that may be difficult and
overwhelming to understand.
4. Watching excess of television can hamper child’s health
The eyesight of a child can degrade and child can also invite
undesirable diseases. The radiations emitted from television can have
harmful effects on child’s eyes and can cause damage as well.
A solution to the above problems (Part 1/2):
Parents should know how many hours of TV are safe for children and should
restrict their child from watching TV beyond that limit.
Active parenting session with children can ensure that child have a constructive
experience with TV.
Parents can help solving television issues by watching TV shows with their
children, choosing developmentally suitable shows, placing boundaries on the
time of television watching (per day or per week), turning off the Television
during study time and family meals, turning off TV shows you feel are not
appropriate for your kid.
5. A solution to the above problems (Part 2/2):
In addition to the entire above, parents can help by not allowing their children
to watch long hours of TV, and help them choosing individual
programs. Parents can select shows that come across the growing needs of
their child. Kids’ shows broadcasted on public Television are correct, but some
soap operas, adult talk shows and adult sitcoms are not. Parents should set
particular time periods when the TV will be on and when it will be turned off.
Parents should also set study times so as their child sit for learning and not in
front of Television. Television should not be turned on during meal times.
Make television watching a positive process for your kids!
