Kathleen Weaver was hired as a Windows Phone developer at ISIS, which was later sold to Google. After leaving a teaching position, she spent months reconnecting to technology through bootcamps and online freelancing, but faced fierce competition and difficulties finding work through recruiters. However, she now teaches computer science and web design courses at Johns Hopkins University and will receive retirement pay and insurance in the new year.
