HOLIDAY TRADITIONS
Kyle Mosley
ANALYZE LEARNERS
• 4th graders.
• 20 students
• 11 girls, and 9 boys.
• 2 Muslims, 3 Jewish and 2 African Americans.
STANDARDS AND OBJECTIVES
• Students will be able to define the basic origins, significance and traditions of the
other holidays celebrated by their fellow classmates.
• They cannot do a holiday they celebrate. (Christian students can’t do Christmas,
Jewish students can’t do Hanukkah, excreta.)
SELECT METHOD MEDIA AND
MATERIALS
• Students will complete their assignment by splitting into groups interviewing their
fellow students and write down their findings about their classmate’s traditions on a
note pad and present their findings to the class at the end of the class.
UTILIZE METHOD MEDIA AND
MATERIALS
• Students will interview their class mates and write down any information they find,
specifically the origins of the holiday, it’s signifgance to those with the back ground
of those they are interviewing.
REQUIRE LEARNER PARTICIPATION
• Students are to interact with those in their group those they are interviewing by
comparing and contrasting their holidays to learn more about them and gain
cultural knowledge and expand on communication skills.
EVALUATE AND REVISE
• Students will be graded on their participation.
• Sharing the required knowledge with the class. Origin, significance to those who
celebrate it, and traditions.
• Students who act insensitive toward someone in the project will be punished and
receive a zero for the day.
