Holden Caulfield Essay
Crafting an essay on the character Holden Caulfield can be both challenging and intriguing.
Holden Caulfield, the protagonist of J.D. Salinger's novel "The Catcher in the Rye," is a complex
and enigmatic character, making it difficult to capture his essence within the confines of an essay.
Firstly, delving into Holden's psyche requires a thorough understanding of his personality,
experiences, and the underlying themes of the novel. His unique voice, filled with colloquialisms
and distinct language, adds another layer of complexity. Balancing the exploration of his
rebellious nature, alienation, and search for authenticity is a delicate task.
Moreover, analyzing Holden Caulfield necessitates a critical examination of the cultural and
societal context in which he exists. Unraveling the layers of his character demands a deep dive
into the novel's symbolism, motifs, and Salinger's narrative techniques. Interpreting the
significance of Holden as a symbol of teenage angst and societal critique requires careful
consideration.
Additionally, constructing a coherent and persuasive argument around Holden Caulfield involves
synthesizing various literary elements, character analysis, and thematic exploration. Expressing
original insights and avoiding clichГ©s while discussing a character as widely studied as Holden
poses its own set of challenges.
In conclusion, tackling the task of writing an essay on Holden Caulfield requires not only a
comprehensive understanding of the character but also a nuanced approach to convey the
complexities of his personality and the broader themes of the novel. It is a task that demands
careful analysis, critical thinking, and a keen ability to articulate ideas effectively.

Journey s Intake Assessment
Assessment and Diagnosis Journey s intake unit completes all initial assessment to
assess client for different level of care and accurately assign them to the most
appropriate unit. The different level of care ranged from intensive inpatient care
unit to medication only. As a practicum student, I worked in the outpatient services
unit. The assessment was completed via an online program with an intake staff and
the client, usually a week or two before the first scheduled appointment with a
clinician. Therefore, once a client is assigned to me, I have access to review their
file. The assessment are usually completed in a brief model format, and as the
clinician assigned to work with a client, I am expected to use the first two sessions of

Since being seen at Journey starting in 2011, Lucy has had the same diagnoses with
the exception of her first time at Journey, where she was diagnosed with
Adjustment Disorder with Mixed Anxiety and Depressed Mood. However, that
diagnosis was dropped when she came back in 2012. She is currently prescribed
Wellbutrin for mood, Gabapentin for anxious symptoms, Trazodone for mood and
anxious symptoms, and Zoloft for obsessive compulsive symptoms by her
primarily care provide in a community clinic. Journey does not have additional
assessment measures to assist in further diagnostic evaluation. Also, the clinician
Lucy was working with is no longer an employee of the agency, which prevents
opportunity to consult. Therefore, the diagnoses are based on my clinical
assessment and my supervisor s input. Based upon Lucy s self report, our
interactions, and my on going assessment, I have decided to maintain some of Lucy
s initial diagnoses with the addition of a V code. Using the Diagnostic and Statistical
Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM; 2013), Lucy was diagnosed with the following
Enter Three Witches Chapter Summary
Enter Three Witches is a gripping retelling of Shakespeare s classic Macbeth.
Written by Caroline Cooney, the novel follows Lady Mary as she experiences the
tyranny of Lady Macbeth, and the struggles of trying to save the lives of anyone she
can. Many comparisons can be drawn to the original, however many differences are
prevalent. Although suspenseful and action packed, Enter Three Witchesstruggles
with keeping characters straight and starts off very slow. Cooney takes the reader on
a sporadic point of view hopping adventure throughout the world of Mr. and Mrs.
Macbeth. Following Lady Mary, Seyton, Fleance, and the maids, we get an
individual perspective of the events of Macbeth. It soon becomes very difficult to
determine what events are being referred to, and extremely difficult due to the time
frames being covered. The story covers many characters and relations, and gives an
inside look at day to day... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The story begins to feel like slow motion as they are introduced in a long
exposition covering the vast amount of people. We are repeatedly told how Lady
Mary is afraid, and how she is struggling to escape the harsh realities of life with
Lady Macbeth. She is always discussing her love life, something readers may find a
bore. Although there is an early battle revealed in the novel, the drawn out
expositions overshadow the suspense of Enter Three Witches. The novel also
focuses too much on the role the witches play. In the original Macbeth, the battle of
ambition versus prophecy is shown in the likes of Macbeth. Macbeth decidedly acts
on his own accord, and his greed turns him into a mad man. It is shown countless
times throughout the original that ambition trumps prophecy. In Enter Three
Witches, the Witch s prophecy is the law of the land. They cannot be trusted, and
will give false prophecy. They control the destiny of each character, and they are
feared by everyone in the

In Araby , Eveline , and The Dead , three short stories featured in James Joyce s The
Dubliners, the characters struggle with whether to live their lives with a structured
routine or to seek opportunities, change, and adventure. These short stories center
around everyday life for citizens of Dublin, Ireland in the early 20th century, when a
choice between continuing the inherited tradition of routine and structure versus
seeking any other form of life or adventure could be the most important decision in
the peoples lives. With the terrible potato famine still in living memory and with
Ireland seeking a new culture and identity, many of its citizens clung to their routine

The war is not between sentries and squadrons of bottles, but between the routine
of life versus the hunger for opportunity. After dinner, the guests begin to dance.
The guests partake in memorized dance steps and fall into habit and routine, one
after the other. These structured dance steps rob the dancers of their individuality
and creativity as uniform seizes the dance floor. The dancers are either forced to
abandon their creativity and join in on the synchronized march of the automatons
or be excluded from the group. Later on in the story, Gabriel learns from his wife
about a previous lover. Gabriel enters a pensive and reflective state, in which he
muses on the mass snow covering all of Ireland, which most likely covers the grave
of Michael, his wife s ex lover, as well as the graves of all future Dubliners. The
snow, the culmination of millions of individual and unique snowflakes melting
together to form one entity of uniformity, became a metaphor for the all
encompassing routine of the characters in Dubliners, covering them in life and in
death. Gabriel s reflections towards the end of the novel give the short story its name
of The Dead , which is what all of the routine and structure does the characters in
The Dubliners. Despite all of the negative occurrences that the routine of the evening
and of life bring upon Gabriel, he summons the courage to change his bleak outlook
on life, vowing to have a more optimistic and open view on the world. In
The Wicca Duo-Theistic Religious Movement
INTRODUCTION
Considered a duo theistic religious movement, the Wicca was developed in England
during the first half of the 20th century and was introduced to the public in 1954 by
Gerald Gardner, a retired British civil servant. Wicca draws upon a diverse set of
ancient pagan and 20th century hermetic motifs for its theological structure and ritual
practice. The dual aspect of said movement is represented by the feminine and
masculine essences subject to it; these essences are commonly referred to by Wiccans
as the God and the Goddess, father heaven and Mother earth respectively.
A practitioner of Wiccais called a witch, either referring to a male or a female, but
the idea many people have of witches is a bit off the mark. Most people ... Show more

Many people are under the impression that Wiccans use black magic or worship
demons, not being this the case at all. At its core, Wicca is very much a neo pagan
religion. It is built on the ideas of the old pagan religions that died around the time
when Christianity became popular. The Wiccan concept of black magic is not
summoning demons or performing black masses, on the contrary, many Wiccans
would simply call it negative magic considering it any spell that hurts someone else,
or attempted to help someone against their will. In spite of what many think, Wiccans
seek to cultivate a set of eight virtues mentioned in Doreen Valiente s Charge of the
Goddess, these being mirth, reverence, honor, humility, strength, beauty, power, and
compassion. In Valiente s poem, they are ordered in pairs of complementary
opposites, reflecting a dualism that is common throughout Wiccan

When looking to buy products, I consider a number of crucial factors ranging from
safety to performance and affordability to user friendly features to the visual appeal
of the product. Going through a large number of available helmets online, initially I
chose the ones that held the highest appeal for me. The Bell Vortex motorcycle helmet
outdid all others in the visual department. Reading up its customer reviews online, I
decided to order one. Upon receiving it, I took the helmet on a long bike ride and was
so impressed upon using it that I decided to write a review.

The liner is removable and can be easily washed; plus it is antibacterial. The
integrated speaker pockets can be used to make the most out of your bike riding
experience. The face shield is easy to maneuver and is fast and smooth. The shield
had been coated to make it fog and scratch free and UV resistant. The helmet is
DOT and Snell certified, so you can be sure about its safety and comes with a five
year warranty.
What I liked
Many features make this Bell Vortex motorcycle helmet my favorite.
First would be its elegance and visual appeal and the number of designs you can
choose from. There are literally so many good looking styles, you might feel
conflicted. I did too and simply went for a black one. For me, nothing beats black.
The helmet is really affordable. In such a price, it would be hard to find so many
exceptional features in a helmet. It s worth every penny spent, maybe even more.
The comfort it provides is simply outstanding. It has to be the most comfortable
helmet I have tried. The liner and interior padding works really well. It s easy to
wash as it is removable.
The ventilation system is really effective. Initially, I thought it would be a hassle to
operate that, but it really isn t. The mechanism is simple. Read the instruction
manual carefully, give it a few tries and you can do it in a breeze. You can use it to
adjust the air flow and temperature to your liking.
I loved that the face shield doesn t fog or

F. Kennedy. After his death, Lyndon B. Johnsoncontinued to pass the act. The Civil
Rights Act was enact in 1964. The Civil Rights Act outlawed discrimination based
on race, color, sex, religion, or national origin. The Act essentially banned
segregation in public places. The department of education was authorized to
integrate schools, and federal funds were denied to any discriminatory education
programs. In addition, the Civil Rights Act led to the creation of the Equal
Opportunity Employment Commission. It is a federal agency that is still present,
it enforces the civil rights laws against workplace discrimination. Most importantly,
the Civil Rights act finally enforces the 15th amendment passed in 1870, which
granted all men the right to vote regardless of race or color. The act enforced the
15th amendment by banning the unequal application of voting requirements, such
as the literacy test and poll taxes, which prevented many people from voting. The
Civil Rights Act was later expanded to provide assistance to seniors, the disabled,
and women in sports. It also paved the way for the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and
the Fair Housing Act of 1968. Under the Lyndon B. Johnson administration the
Civil Rights Act became a law, and it paved the way for equality of all Americans.
The legacy of the Civil Rights Act remains, and it helped with the decision of
legalizing same sex marriage, a law that was passed 51 years after the Civil Rights
Summary Of Killing The Rising Sun
Killing the Rising Sun by Bill O Reilly and Martin Dugard is a descriptive, well
written book wrapping up the end of World War II. Reading this book makes you
feel like you are living in the midst of the vividly depictive and picturesque scenes
that O Reilly and Dugard bring the reader back to imagine in this book. I really
enjoyed this book and I think it really helped me to capture what happened during
World War II and the hardships and trials that the United Stateswent through to defeat
Japan in one of the most decisive naval battles of World War II. I hope that in this
essay I can achieve half of what the authors achieved in writing this book.

Taking place on the island of Peleliu, these men went through horrific things and
needed an incredible amount of physical and mental strength to push themselves to
fight. Throughout the book, there are many circumstances that seem to have
happened that the authors describe very vividly with specific details. Although
these scenes may be hard for the viewer to imagine actually happening, there is
such great description of the events that makes you want to keep reading more
about the things that these men went through during battle. The book describes men
committing suicide with their swords and chopping off heads and it can be hard to
imagine someone doing that. Personally, I really think you can gather a good
understanding that this war in the Pacific was one of the deadliest battles in history
from the examples from the book of things that were everyday events for these
people. There were more than forty million fallen men by the time the war was over
and the Japanese committed many abhorrent acts toward their prisoners. They would
deprive them of food, shelter, medical necessities, and many other vital resources
needed to survive a time like World War
The Cretaceous-Paleogene Boundary Essay
The Cretaceous Paleogene Mass Extinction
Wil Creasy Student Number: 20921355
The Cretaceous Paleogene boundary (K Pg boundary) was host to one of the three
largest mass extinctions in the past 500 million years. Evidence suggests it was the
result of a large asteroid impact approximately 65.5 million years ago in Chicxulub,
Mexico; hence why the crater it formed was named the Chicxulub crater. The crater
was approximately 180 kilometres in diameter and was believed to have led to the
extinction of the dinosaurs amongst many other life forms including marine plankton
(calcareous nannofossils and planktonic foraminifera) (Schulte et al., 2010).
Furthermore, it had a number of impacts on the atmosphere and environment
including the creation of sulfuric acid rain and stratospheric dust cloud formations. ...

The deposit included a millimeter thick red clay layer that includes an iridium
anomaly, ejecta spherules and nickel rich spinel (Schulte et al., 2010). The age of the
deposit coincides with the time of the mass extinction. It is coincidences such as this
that have led scientists to believe that the mass extinction and the Chicxulub impact
are related.
The Yucatan 6 borehole provided significant evidence to suggest that there was an
impact event that took place. The composition of the melt rock was believed to have
been the result of an impact rather than volcanic events (Kring and Boynton, 1992).
What allowed scientists to confirm this, was the surviving clasts of target rock they
discovered within the melt, were similar to that seen In the Manicouagan impact
crater. (Kring, 2007) Furthermore, these clasts were said to be composed of shocked
quarts and feldspar, which are indicative of an impact
Australian Dual Citizenship Essay
Australian dual nationals can travel to the US: Malcolm Turnbull
The article Australian dual nationals can travel to the US published on the 31st of
January 2017 by The Sydney Morning Herald, written by Tom Mrlloy and David
Wroe, reflects how Australian citizens with dual citizenship will not be affected by
the US s contradicting immigration prohibition. At the Parliament House, Canberra,
Mr Turnbull stated that people with dual citizenship are approved to visit the US,
despite their beliefs or culture.
The main issue raised in this article was that Australian citizens which hold a dual
citizenship are not allowed to travel to the US. Mr Turnbull confirmed dual
citizenship holders are safe to visit the US with no harm or worry. However,... Show

I never knew citizens from countries, such as, Pakistan, Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey or
Iran, loss permission to travel to the US, conversely, owning an Australian citizenship.
I found this very unfair. I know those countries may have terrorist and dangerous
people, but minority is like them, they are still people, like us. In the future, I believe,
I would like to support everyone from refugee countries. I would like to take action
helping the innocent people, who had nothing to do with the bombing and terrorist
attacks. Those five countries withdrawal of dual citizenship could become an on
going issue, affecting my community, as well as, I believe, nationally and
internationally. Family connection could be lost or interrupted, causing distress,
anger, grief and etc., initiating conflict on the planet. My suggestion to resolve this
problem, would be considering or further discussing possible prevention measures
being overlooked to avoid the situation from escalating.
I believe, everyone in Australia should be treated fairly and have equal rights. I also
support people with dual citizenship and background from Pakistan, Lebanon, Jordan,
Turkey or Iran should be treated the same as all Australian citizens, despite their race
or background. I was disappointed with the negative change of the US citizenship
rights, as a young boy with a dual Iranian Australian citizenship
Reflection Of A Literate Classroom
In the first part of my assignment I will be writing about the literate classroom.
Throught out the course of the assignment I will be critically analaysing what a
literate classroom looks like and how a teacher can enable this in a primary school
setting. My primary focus will be on how the literate classroom looks like in the
early years. The classroom has an esstainal role for the learning procress of a child.
It s not only a place for students to just sit at thir desk and listen to the teacher but
also a safe eveviroment for the children to learn. The way a classroom is arranged can
improve the learning ennrioment. Savage (1999) stated that the classroom

Using the walls of the classroom is also a way to create a literacy rich classrromm
enviorment (Lyon, 1998) this can vary from a simple alphabet line to the essay
written by the children. It is important to have print display promentaly around the
classroom so the kids can was a visual aid to their writing. This can be achieve
throught something big like a word wall where the a group of words are displated
on the wall of the classroom. The words are prineted in a larfe font so that they are
easily visible for the students. This project is usally done by having the whole
classroom collaborate as a team and can be center around a commen theme.
However the classroom is not the only componate in a literate classroom
odvilously the teachers have the most important role in creating a literate
classroom. The classroom is just a tool is up to the teacher to use it correctly. A
literate classroom will be one full of purposeful interaction between children and
adults. Teachera and students alike need to strive to support each other and to
encourage and to celebrate the power and pleasures of language and literacy (

The Biological Species Of Maggot Flies
1.
The species concept that should be primarily used in this case is the biological
species concept. Considering the fact that the two different races of maggot flies have
the capabilities and ultimately the potential to interbreed with one another to produce
a fertile offspring, but can t effectively interbreed with other species leads me to come
to this conclusion.

Hawthorn and apple flies are assigned to the same taxonomic species. Apple maggot

Doublethink In George Orwell s 1984
Throughout part one of George Orwell s 1984, Winston Smith is characterized as a
convict of thoughtcrime. He thinks negatively of Oceania s Party and silently rebels
by writing his beliefs in a diary. Although writing isn t considered illegal, detection
of such action is punishable by death (6). While writing down whatever came to
mind, Winston wrote the line DOWN WITH BIG BROTHER over and over again,
later exclaiming how he didn t care if he was shot in the back of the neck for doing so
(18). I compare to the characteristics of Winston Smith through the beliefs that define
thoughtcrime. Although I do not live in a world where thinking negatively is
punishable under law, Winston and I do share common ideologies. For instance,
Winston and I hold comparative opinions of the word doublethink. Both Smith and I
find it questionable, and don t understand how one can hold two contradictory ideas
in the mind simultaneously. An example of a modern day doublethink statement is
you want to fit in with others. It s not a difficult concept to grasp until you come
across the contradictory statement: you should try to stand out from the crowd. Both
concepts alone are applicable to anyone, but they are both simultaneously established
as rules that guide the individual. Examples of doublethink in... Show more content

August 14 Persuasive Speech
We are met to commemorate the anniversary of one of the most dreadful crimes in
history not for the purpose of condemning it, but to repent for our share in it. We
do not start any agitation with regard to that particular crime. I understand that an
attempt to prosecute the chief criminals has been made, and has entirely failed;
because the whole community, and in a sense our whole people, are really
involved in the guilt. The failure of the prosecution in this case, in all such cases,
is only a proof of the magnitude of the guilt, and of the awful fact that everyone

The trouble has come down to us out of the past. The only reason slavery is wrong
is that it is cruel, and makes men cruel and leaves them cruel. Someone may say
that you and I cannot repent because we did not do the act. But we are involved in
it. We are still looking on. Do you not see that this whole event is merely the last
parable, the most vivid, the most terrible illustration that ever was given by man or

and of the relation of men to one another? This whole matter has been an historic

of each one of us. With the great disease (slavery) came the climax (the war), and
after the climax gradually began the cure, and in the process of cure comes now

The camp had a Belgian Shepherd and a German Shepherd in their puppy squad who
went with their groups for street opening and hunt operation in the Naxal plagued
wildernesses in the Bastar district where Naxals all the time plant explosives
focusing on security powers. But the dogs got harmed and the jawans had no dogs

Origins Of The Protestant Reformation
There were numerous significant events that took place to result in the Protestant
Reformation, but the humanistic philosophies of the Renaissance was the primary
origin of the Protestant Reformation. Humanism allowed people of the Renaissance
to freely critique the Catholic Church, saying is had become more political than
religious and the priests and bishops were no longer pious. This helped lead to the
Reformation because many people questioned their Catholicism after humanistic
views showed why changes should be made in the Church because more people
began to be more self reliant and were less dependent on the Church. In addition,
famous Renaissance humanists such as Erasmus and Thomas More encouraged
Church reforms by criticizing the church s

Preface and Introduction
Upon reading the first part of COF, it made me realize what a widespread epidemic
widespread panic can be. We fear so much in this country, and not just safety issues.
We fear offending people by being too PC, we fear litigation, and that perpetuates
warning labels which foster even more fear. Fear is what gets politicians elected, and
fear can even be a hobby to adrenaline junkies.
Fear to me is a fascinating emotion. People take it as a negative, but to me it s there
for basic survival. Fear can also make people bond. After 9/11, the whole country
was in fear. Yet, for the first time I can remember, the whole country was a united one.

Definitions Of A Computer Network
Define and explain the following terminologies
Computer network:
In a computer network, relevant equipment is interconnected through the usage of
wires or wireless mechanisms in order to exchange data. In particular, a computer
network allows for info and data to be exchanged, at an instance, from one
interconnected spot to another. In such case, a client/server system applies; a terminal
is directly connected to a relevant local area network (LAN). In contemporaneous
business doing, computers are usually connected through LAN to shared office
resources (i.e. software) located on a relevant office server that allows for
interconnection of users, who can use available office resources via terminals that act
as connection points (Kuross ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a LAN, terminals can be connected to a central terminal (i.e. computer) that may
act as the means for the particular network to achieve external intercommunication as
well. In such case, a LAN of a certain building A can be interconnected to the LAN
of a certain building B through a local area network to local area network
infrastructure. Such interconnection is highly useful and significant when in need to
save cost by sharing a printer, for example, between departments that would need,
otherwise, separate printing devices (Kuross Ross, 2005, p.34).
Metropolitan area networks (MANs)
In a Metropolitan Area Network (MAN), parties (i.e. companies, individuals, etc.)
can be interconnected with each other and connect to the Internet in an area of up
to 50 kilometers. In a MAN, local area networks can be interconnected with a
metropolitan area network through appropriate network infrastructure consisting of
fiber optic links that allow for fast interconnection between client/server LAN and
for a connection to a relevant Internet Service Provider. The usage of a MAN,
allows for companies to have access to ISP services and to the software that is being
hosted in an ISP although being off site (Kuross Ross, 2005, p.35).
Wide area networks (WANs)
Wide Area Networks constitute the next stage of MANs; interconnections between
computer networks have no geographical limit and can extend to cities, prefectures,
countries and the whole world. Through the usage of a wide

Trying
The Story of Julian Herbs
Most people go through a trying phase where they decide to take a harder look at
their lives they are living and get the feeling that it could be better. Such thoughts
may lead one into a psychological crisis characterized by a lot of stress and anxiety
due to the dissatisfaction with one s life (Schriver, 2004). Mr. Julian Herbs, a 50
year old, has been going through this phase where he felt dissatisfied with his life
despite the achievements he has been able to accomplish in his life. He is a married
man with a son and a daughter who has been able to achieve financial security.

Mr. Herbs is likely to be experiencing this phase because of the things that are
happening in his life. His life is surrounded by loneliness and lack of fulfillment
especially because of the changes that he recently experienced. His daughter
graduated and moved to Atlanta while his son got a job in Chicago. His separation
from his children may have contributed to his concentration on his achievements and
the decisions he has made through life. He gave up his college education to be fully
committed to his family and now that they have all grown and become successful he
wishes he could have done more on his personal achievements. Additionally, the
older he gets, the closer to death he feels. His father had always talked about dreams
but he dies suddenly from a heart attack. Therefore, Julian may be feeling stressed by
the fact that he is moving closer to death yet he has not achieved all the things he
wanted to achieve in life.

Examples Of Class Differences In The Great Gatsby
What does the novel show about society and class differences? Well in the Roaring
Twenties, many people from all of the social classes became aware of the class
differences. The classes was obviously divided by location, amount of material
possessions and the way one person acts. For a American novel class is an unusual
theme, it is more common to find it in European and British novels. Most of the
societies are divided between the rich and the older modern way. Fitzgerald reflects
social status through many geographical locations in American, and explains them
by their traits, lifestyles, and mentalities. Fitzgerald illustrates the class differences
in the 1920 s for example, he started with introducing you to the characters of
different social classes and describes them in a way they act belonging to one of the
class. The Buchanans, Gatsby and the Wilson s was all great examples of how... Show

Assessing The Classroom Abilities Of The Target Student
Assessments illustrate the needs of our students while emphasizing strengths. For
literacy, assessments serve as a window into the pupils knowledge and development.
Assessments provide detail information of pupils weakness and strength in literacy
(Afflerbach, 2012). It is important for the teacher to incorporate various assessments
to compile a holistic view of the reader. When teachers can identify student strengths
and weaknesses, they can make informed decisions to guide their teaching. At the
same, they can create activities targeted to increase student reading performance.
Throughout this paper, I will exemplify the information gained during the
administration of reading informal assessments. Likewise, I will provide examples of
activities that I can incorporate to prove the reading abilities of the target student.
During the pasts weeks, I have been gathering information from students to obtain a
better understanding of their reading abilities. The initial findings of my assessments
prompted me to choose a male African American third grade student. The research
was not limited to what the student can do in reading; it also included the students
social environment. If we want to acquire a good understanding of the students
reading abilities, we should not limit ourselves with just assessments. Bear explained
that interviewing students and parents can give us vital information into the student s
background and possible reasons for reading problems (Laureate Education,

vocal music dominates overall. When we listen to vocal music, the mood of the
song can have you feeling one way and suddenly have you feeling another way.
Eminem s song Stan is a perfect example. The song has a fan writing a letter to
Eminem. In the beginning, he tells Eminem how much of a big fan he was to him

As I finished the last words of the novel, my jaw dropped. It s such an incredible
classic book. Not truly a science fiction lover, I did not really think I would enjoy it,
as I don t really like the aliens and spaceships in other science fiction novels. The
novel is, at first glimpse, a little peculiar and strange, but once you really get into it,
you realize how sad and how good of a moral this story has. It really draws you in
and opens your eyes to the world around you.
The story is told in such a unique way that it hooked me in after the first chapter. It
is told in progress reports of the main character, Charlie Gordon, which is such an
academically genius idea because the reader is able to see how Charlie s intelligence
grows. The opening paragraph (the first progress report), throws us into this world.
Personally, I really do recommend reading this book. The impact the novel can
make on a person and how it easily the novel shies away from the stereotypical ideal
classical novel is incredible. It is definitely required reading in my
A Guide To The Other Side By Robert Imfeld
Do you know that ghosts are the souls of deceased people wandering around and
spirits are any kind of departed paranormal beings? The book I am reading is titled,

throughout the entire story is about an entity, named the Sheet Man who decides to
try to send a message to both Kristina and Baylor. This event results in Baylor trying
to figure out if this spiritis evil or in trouble. If I were telling a friend about this
entire story in two minutes, I would tell them that this book is like an episode of the

because of his gift to solve mysteries. All in all, this quote explains the amount of

Agrero s Interpretation Of Agrippina The Younger
During her time, Agrippina the Younger was able to achieve unprecedented
recognition and transcended the boundaries of imperial women to establish herself
as a political player. Through her marriage to the Emperor Claudius, she formed a co
ruling alliance that allowed her to manipulate the order of succession to aid her son
Neroin becoming Princeps. To a negligible extent, historians agree with Ferrero s
interpretation of Agrippina. Where Ferrero praises Agrippina s personality, both
ancient and modern sources oppose his description of her as intelligent and simple ,
often describing her as opportunistic and manipulative. Although they do agree that
her upbringing amidst political affairs set her up to becoming a formidable and

As Levick describes, Agrippina s behaviour was overtly political . However, her
ambition and rise to power was criticised by ancient historians as such subversions
of traditional gender norms were not viewed favourably. Ancient sources are
inherently scathing of Agrippina due to the values placed upon the ideal Roman
matrona at the time. Tacitus describes the idea matrona as one who was loyal to her
family and above all else subservient to her husband. However, Agrippina subverts
this role through her unbridled ambition for power and her ultimate goal of placing
her son Nero in the role of Princeps. Tacitus emphasizes Agrippina s masculine
qualities, describing her as possessing a masculine despotism when toying with
national affairs hence highlighting her transgression of gender boundaries to
emphasize her failure to fulfil the duties of the ideal matrona. It is hence because of
the ancient value placed on being an ideal subservient woman, and Agrippina s clear
subversion of the role, that the ancient sources portray her negatively and conflicting

Additionally, employees have voiced concern about sustaining momentum and
attention on values after the training program. However, there is no process in place
that enables employees to keep the focus on values through meetings, additional
training or a communication network. Without this mechanism, the momentum
created at training programs will slow and the sustainability of the value system will
be put at risk.
In addition, Bronfman has not created a controlling and rewarding system to measure
the results and reward or punish the behavior of individuals. Employees are
concerned that those who are living the values will not be recognized and
rewarded. They are also concerned about how to deal with values violators . It is
difficult to create buy in to the values if compliance cannot be determined. Further,
without an incentive to adhere, individuals will most likely be indifferent to the
values. Clearly, you get what you reward and if Bronfman wants people to live the
values, then he must find a way to measure and reward that behavior.
Recommendation 1 2 Structuring Processes to Sustain Seagram s New Values
The lack of structuring processes has led to questions on how new recommendations
concerning the values will be handled and how the current momentum of the program
can be sustained. To create this process, we recommend that Bronfman continue to

D Day was one of the largest amphibious invasions in history(History.com). While
preparation for the operation was extensive, it resulted in the liberation of France

I will first explain the effects of globalization as Kotler identified them in the last
edition of his best seller; then I will briefly resume the main concepts of Porter s
theory of competitiveness, showing two examples of how his national view of

I m speaking of environmental awareness when nobody spoke of it, of the research
for renewable sources of energy, and of the concept of business long term
sustainability. These particular forehanded attentions helped the building of the
strongest paper industry of the world and one of the main interesting and
innovative business model ever created, the Ikea one for the furniture production
(without leaving behind other less famous examples). I can easily say that in this
real case all the four factors Porter presented are well developed and inserted in a
coherent network: as I said before in my opinion the government had the greater
responsibility in creating the best organizational conditions to allow these results but
the presence of high culture social classes with definitively high expectations was
and is another important trigger of Swedish development. Also the creation of an
efficient and high technological supply chain that links forests cutting with paper
industry and furniture production, together with the presence of consistent capitals
and high rate of competitiveness played an important role. However what in the
end is very worth to be mentioned is that the government didn t invest a lot of
money in rain fall helps to the company: it was really the opposite, since some laws
were very critics to be respected trying to have profit in such a

Quinoa intake on South America
Quinoa (Chenopodium Quinoa) despite being one of the oldest crops in the area it
was just recently domesticated, only about three to four thousand years ago in the
Andean region (Ofstehage 2010). This region includes areas like Peru, Bolivia,
Ecuador and Colombia. What all these areas have in common is their dry soil which
Quinoa is usually found to grow in (Ofstehage 2010). The plant is widely known for
its positive nutritional value, mainly its high protein which is hard to find in most
plants. Sadly it contains saponins which messes with cell membranes in the small
intestine. These saponins are only found in raw seeds but when processed correctly
they get taken ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That is also a jump from 8 million dollars on exports to 63 million, which is highly
affecting the economy. With the U.S importing 48% of that, we are importing 9600
metric tons of quinoa and about 30 million dollars (Effel 2012). The standard price of
a kilogram of quinoa is about 8 cents. During times when demand is higher it can
get up to 28 32 cents per kilogram (Hellin Higman 2003). With all this extra income
the farmers themselves can now improve themselves. They can by different food,
fix their house or just buy a new one, and buy even more land to grow on, possibly
start their own business. They can also afford more luxuries, and also help their
kids get a better education (Ofstehage 2012). With all these upgrades they can live
a healthier life. Like with the food, they can now get a greater variation in the food
they eat improving their overall diet and health, especially for the farmers that
were very poor before the boom (Ofstehage 2012). Occording to Damiana Astudillo
and Genaro Aroni who did fieldwork in Bolivia and talked to the farmers their say,
it was a Cinderella Plant because it just made everything better (Astudillo Aroni
2012). Although the people and the economy overall are making money there are
some disadvantages to the huge cultivation of quinoa. One of the problems is the
overall land is weakening. Farmers are buying more land and in order to keep up

Personal Mineral Intake
Being aware of your own personal mineral intake is quite an essential part of your
well being. It is often overlooked by both me and others. There are two main types
of minerals: trace minerals and macro minerals. The term macro mineral refers to
the group of minerals that you need to make sure you include relatively large
amounts of in your diet. Macro minerals refer to minerals such as sulfur, calcium,
sodium, and potassium. Trace minerals refer to the group of minerals that your body
needs miniscule amounts of in order to work properly and be healthy. Trace
minerals refer to minerals such as copper, zinc, selenium, and iron. Our mineral
intake comes directly from plant based sources and indirectly from animal based
sources. In addition,
The Loss Of The Creature By Walker Percy
In the essay The Loss of the Creature , Walker Percy highlights his observations on
how people perceive the world. He argues that we have lost original, self driven
learning because people only measure their experiences based on other people s
expectations. He states how these preconceived expectations of our experiences
give way to a symbolic complex. This complex is set by what people or Layman
believe the experts have set. Therefore, their experienceis only validated if people
feel that they have met those criteria. He believes that people can only have a true
experience if they forgo all those preconceived expectations and biases. Only then
can people truly experience something at face value. To present his ideas in a more...

he gets there, he is only comparing what he sees in front of him with what he has

the sheer vastness or the enormity of what has been laid in front of us but instead

Analysis Of Mommy Dead And Dearest
Mommy Dead Dearest
Imagine your own family member constantly manipulating you into thinking you
were going to be forever young. Now imagine that person telling every individual
that you cannot care for yourself nor will ever get better. To be completely honest,
that is a scary thought, not having any control over your own body and believing
your caretaker that you are mentally incapacitate to care for yourself. The
documentary I chose to watch and write about is Mommy Dead Dearest, this
documentary was released 11 March 2017 and the director is Erin Lee Carr. In this
documentary, we see Dee Dee and Gypsy s narrative who brings Munchausen

Dee Dee was tested for muscular dystrophy. She had brain and spine scans and a
muscle biopsy. She was eventually confined to a wheel chair because she couldn t
walk. Dee Dee thought Gypsy had sleep apnea so she took her to the hospital almost
every day to lie about different illnesses and seek medication that Gypsy wouldn t
need.
Many years later, June 2015, Gypsy is now serving 10 years in prison for plotting her
mother s murder. I would have never expected the documentary to end the way it
did. However, according to text messages and interrogation room footage included
in the documentary, Gypsy s boyfriend sneaked into their house and allegedly
stabbed Dee Dee while Gypsy hid in the bathroom. Gypsy and her boyfriend
proceeded to take several thousand dollars from a safe at Dee Dee s home and
spent some time in Springfield following her mother s death. Disturbing Facebook
posts were made, exclaiming Gypsy s boyfriend murdered her mother. I strongly
believe watching the documentary really triggers people s emotions. The amount of
abuse Gypsy endured, mentally, physically, nobody should have to ever go through
that. Viewing as Gypsy s perspective, I can see why she felt the need to kill her
mother. There was a lot of hatred in her heart and probably even more hatred
knowing she was perfectly well and her mom just manipulated her throughout her
childhood into adulthood. My heart really aches for her, although first degree murder

Hernan Cortez Accomplishments
Did you know that past explorers were known to travel for riches and fame? They
just wanted to be known, and be able to say they were there, and seen many things;
or the accomplishments they have made. For instance, Hernan Cortez was born in
1485 in Medellin, Spain. He was a Spanish conquistador who defeated the Aztec
Empire and claimed Mexicofor Spain. He also studied at the university of
Salamanca. In 1504, he traveled to Santo Domingo and settled in a town called
Azua and served as a notary. In 1515, he joined the expedition of Cuba led by Diego
Velazquez and served as the mayor of Santiago. In 1518, he set sail to Mexico with
eleven ships and five hundred men. By 1519, he reached the Mexican coast.
Some hardships Cortez faced included him becoming allies with natives, and others.
he used deadly force to conquer Mexico. He fought Tiaxacan and Cholula warriors.
He marched to Tenochtitlan and captured the ruler Montezuma II., although , he had
to leave because the Spanish troops were coming to arrest him for disobeying
orders. But he did return later because the Spanish was set out by the Aztecs. In
1515, he conquered the Aztecs and King Charles appointed him to be the governor of
New Spain. Some interesting facts about Hernan Cortez was that after he conquered
the Aztecs, his authority and position was questioned, and they also formed a
rebellion against him. Between 1540 1547, he spent time being recognized for his
achievements, and support from the Spanish royal courts. Unlike modern day
explorers like Neil Armstrong who studies science and have passion for things in
space.
Neil Armstrong was born in Wapakoneta, Ohio on August 5, 1930. Neil Armstrong
was the first man to walk on the moon. After serving as naval aviator from 1949 to
1952 he joined the National Advisory Committee Aeronautics (NACA) in 1955. His
first assignment was with NACA Lewis research center (NASA) in Cleveland. Over
the next 17 years he was an engineer, test pilot, astronaut and administrator for NACA
and its successor agency, the national aeronautics and space administration (NASA).
Neil Armstrong became an astronaut in 1962. He was assigned a command for
Gemini 8 mission. Gemini was launched on March 16, 1966 and Armstrong
Queen Music Essay
Queen
Queen was a glam rock band that formed in 1971 in London. The band consisted of
four men; Freddie Mercury who sang lead vocals and played piano, Brian May
who played lead guitar and sang, Roger Taylor who was on drums, sang, and played
guitar, and finally John Deacon who played bass guitar. All four men also contributed
and were songwriters. This British quartet developed into camp and bombastic music
which created a vast, mock operatic sound that consisted of layered guitar sounds and
overdubbed vocals.
Freddie Mercury was a flamboyant lead singer who brought a dramatic vocal style to
the group. His onstage antics were outrageous and brought a special personality and
reputation to Queen. The original four members, Mercury, May, Taylor,... Show more

various times with many different people. In November 2014, they released the
Queen Forever album. All in all, Queen contributed to genres such as hard rock,
heavy metal, speed metal, and many others. Queen was one of the first bands to
use giant lighting rigs on stage and make performances more theatrical. They were
able to write anthems that are still prevalent in today s world. Freddie Mercury was

largely part of their personal style. Many people still know and love Queen and all

Under the oak tree, Freddy sat playing in the mud. Rolling a piece of mud between
his hands, he eyed the distance between him and Seymour. Taking a small hop
closer to the pond, he checked the distance again. Drawing his arm back, he threw
the mud ball at Seymour. Lucky for Seymour, Freddy s aim was a little off. The mud
ball hit the water next to Seymour s head splashing him.
The shock of water on his face shot him straight up, arms waving about. Then he
came straight down like a rock. He surfaced and looked right at Freddy.
What was that for?
I m tired of playing by myself.

looked like.
That s what I saw, said Freddy. It must be Tanks treasure, but I m afraid the river will

for Tanks. Could you help me? Honey spoke up, Of course, we ll help. You could

Can we stop on our way home?
That would be fine, Peanut said. He hoped the rock would be safe until they came

German Propaganda In The Third Reich Analysis
There is no doubt that the Nazis committed unspeakable acts of horror during the
Holocaust. Millions of Jews were murdered by people enthralled by the propaganda
of Hitler and the Nazi Party. The main question however is how ordinary people were
convinced to take part in horrible acts. Many explanations exist to answer this
question. Author William Golding suggested that all humans have the capability to
be Nazis. One can certainly believe this statement after acknowledging the horrific
acts of the common German during the Holocaust. I agree that every human has the
capability to commit unspeakable acts of horror under the right conditions. Theo

I agree with Theo Bailey s conclusion that the German people were brainwashed to
believe that Jews were evil and inferior. German people believed in the Nazi
propaganda that created fear and resentment. In this case Germans felt threatened
by the Jews and lost their moral values. I believe that humans will act in violence
when they feel threatened or believe that their violence is justified by a grater
good. In his article titled Ordinary Germans and the Holocaust, Daniel J.
Goldhagen argues that the reason why ordinary Germans participated in the mass
murder of of the Jewish people was to obey orders and fearing for their own lives if
they did not participate. I believe that ordinary people can commit acts that may go
against their moral belief if their own life is at risk. Goldhagen further argues that
the ordinary German was coerced into participation by the social pressures they
experienced. This element is similar to the peer pressure we all experience in
wanting to be part of a group. Goldhagen stated, It is, so goes the argument,
extremely difficult for individuals to resist pressures to conform, pressures which can
lead individuals to participate in acts which they on their own would not do, indeed
would abhor. (n.
How Did Hitler Olympics
There have been many olympic games, but a truly historic one is is the one that took
place in 1936. Many people during that time were skeptical about having the olympics
in Germany during World War 2, with all the events taking place about Hitler and his
idealistic opinion about the perfect man and the slaughtering of the Jewish. But
despite all the skepticism and boycott, the olympics went through with the location of
Germany.
As host of the olympics, Hitler had the power to include and exclude certain athletes
simply based on them as a person rather than the skill they posses. Hitler instituted a
policy in all German athletic organizations, an Aryans only rule which did not allow
all Non Aryans to competes. These Non Aryans involved homosexuals, Romanians,
Communists, the mentally/physically disabled, and the Jewish. As a result many
Jewish athletes were turned away. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Paradoxical Slogans in 1984
Sahil Aggarwal Williams IB English SL The Veracity of Paradoxical Slogans in
1984 The definition of a paradox is, A statement that on the surface seems a
contradiction, but that actually contains some truth. In George Orwell s, 1984, the
use of paradoxes is exemplified in an attempt to allow the reader to understand the
true intentions of a totalitarian government. By using war as a method of keeping
peace in the society or even going so far as to further the degree of ignorance to
greaten the government s power, Orwell constantly expresses the oppression of
people under a totalitarian rule, the central theme of the novel. In an effort to gain the
further support of the people of Oceania, the controlling party writes the following...

In Oceania, there are no means of comparison, as communication is under the Party s
influence. Knowledge is the Party s threat, which once high enough, would lead to
their annihilation. Knowledge grows through the education of the people, however
this is hindered by the enforcement of various literary features. The motif,
Newspeak, recurs throughout the novel, and illustrates how the government restricts
knowledge through the limitation of language. Newspeak is a language that has a
narrowed vocabulary in an attempt to exclude words that can raise awareness of
any suppressive behavior that the Party exerts. Don t you see that the whole aim of
Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought? In the end we shall make thought crime
literally impossible, because there will be no words in which to express it. This
quote best illustrates the Party s intentions for Newspeak in regards to this slogan.
The first sentence establishes how this motif is increasing ignorance, by narrowing
the range of thought. In doing so, the second sentence holds true as the more
ignorance that is spread through society, the more strength and power the Party gains
control over the people of Oceania. The telescreen, a television that is used to

The Qur An And Women Rereading The Sacred Text From

Religious scholars, and scholars for that matter, tend to be male. The educated
female perspective found in the book The Qur an and Women Rereading the
Sacred Text from a Woman s Perspective by Amina Wadud was deeply refreshing.
To hear an interpretation of the Qur an strictly from a female perspective was
fascinating, but more than that eye opening. Wadud was very careful to focus solely
on the teachings of the Qur an and not Islam as a whole, this was something I was
grateful for. While it was a challenging read with advanced and interesting concepts
she never assumed preexisting knowledge and explained all of her reasoning
meticulously. This femalevoice was not only educated and well informed but also
very needed. Many of the concepts she addresses are reinforced wholly by the
teachings found in the Qur an, contrary to what most would expect.
Her extensive knowledge of the history of Arabia, the language used and Islam as a
whole made this book deeply informative. Throughout her book, Wadud speaks of the
difficulty in translation of Aribic, specifically when it comes to gender. Pronouns
exist in Aribic meaning singular male, singular female and plural female groups, and
plural male groups however the pronoun used for the plural male group is also the
gender neutral plural (equivalent to the English they ), this makes translation tricky
when it comes to gender. This made me think about the time in class when gender
pronouns in reference to Allah came up. To refer to

CSIT 555 Database Systems
Midterm Research Paper
[1] INTRODUCTION:
The term database can be defined as the collection of systematic, well ordered and
structured data that can be easily and efficiently handled, retrieved and upgraded on a
periodic basis depending on its requirements. The structure and organization of any
database is based upon its respective database model.
A unique database model is implemented by each database depending upon the
logical structure of the data that is being handled by that database. There are
numerous distinct database models out in the market at present that allow the
application developers to effectively manage the data. The most widely welcomed ...

The fundamental theory of logical relations among the grouped data is incorporated
in the relational database model. This method offers numerous advantages such as
keeping the structured data in an organized and logically related manner, ease of data
handling in case of related data or information, simplicity of data management and
many more. In general, it can be stated that those database systems that assimilate the
technique of relational SQL data model can execute in a productive and precise
method.
[3] THE NO SQL DATABASE SYSTEM AND KEY VALUE STORE DATA
MODEL:
The term No SQL is considered in a much wider vision which means Not Only SQL
. This can be elaborated in the sense that the concept of No SQL does not consider
the complete elimination of SQL language, rather it focuses on supporting other
SQL like queries. The No SQL Database basically follows a model free approach.
The leading advantage of implementing the No SQL database is eliminating all the
restrictions of the rigorously followed structured model in the relational database
system. In No SQL approach, there are many flexibilities of choosing eligible data
structure according to the information or data that has to be handled. Some of the
widely followed data models of the No SQL database are key value stores, column
family stores, document database, graph database, etc. The fundamental concept
behind the development of the key value store data model is to create a data model

What Does It Mean To Be Red
I think everyone is many colors, and I also believe that colors represent different
things to different people. Personally, I believe that I am red. Not just one red, but all
the different shades of red. Red represents passion, love, determination, and anger.
Red represents strength and strong emotions. Redcan represent brokenness, but it can
also mean happiness and confidence.
I m a color who is very sure of herself, I know who I am and I m not afraid to be me.
I can be loud when put with the right colors (people), but I can also be quiet and
subtle when I need to be. I know for a fact that I m a stubborn person, not
necessarily always in a bad way, it just means I know how to take a stand and keep
my ground. It also means that I won t fall

Firstly, delving into Holden's psyche requires a thorough understanding of his personality, experiences, and the underlying themes of the novel. His unique voice, filled with colloquialisms and distinct language, adds another layer of complexity. Balancing the exploration of his rebellious nature, alienation, and search for authenticity is a delicate task. Moreover, analyzing Holden Caulfield necessitates a critical examination of the cultural and societal context in which he exists. Unraveling the layers of his character demands a deep dive into the novel's symbolism, motifs, and Salinger's narrative techniques. Interpreting the significance of Holden as a symbol of teenage angst and societal critique requires careful consideration. Journey s Intake Assessment Assessment and Diagnosis Journey s intake unit completes all initial assessment to assess client for different level of care and accurately assign them to the most appropriate unit. The different level of care ranged from intensive inpatient care unit to medication only. As a practicum student, I worked in the outpatient services unit. The assessment was completed via an online program with an intake staff and the client, usually a week or two before the first scheduled appointment with a clinician. Therefore, once a client is assigned to me, I have access to review their file. The assessment are usually completed in a brief model format, and as the clinician assigned to work with a client, I am expected to use the first two sessions of therapy... She is currently prescribed Wellbutrin for mood, Gabapentin for anxious symptoms, Trazodone for mood and anxious symptoms, and Zoloft for obsessive compulsive symptoms by her primarily care provide in a community clinic. Journey does not have additional assessment measures to assist in further diagnostic evaluation. Also, the clinician Lucy was working with is no longer an employee of the agency, which prevents opportunity to consult. Therefore, the diagnoses are based on my clinical assessment and my supervisor s input. Based upon Lucy s self report, our interactions, and my on going assessment, I have decided to maintain some of Lucy s initial diagnoses with the addition of a V code. Using the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM; 2013), Lucy was diagnosed with the following
  • 3. Enter Three Witches Chapter Summary Enter Three Witches is a gripping retelling of Shakespeare s classic Macbeth. Written by Caroline Cooney, the novel follows Lady Mary as she experiences the tyranny of Lady Macbeth, and the struggles of trying to save the lives of anyone she can. Many comparisons can be drawn to the original, however many differences are prevalent. Although suspenseful and action packed, Enter Three Witchesstruggles with keeping characters straight and starts off very slow. Cooney takes the reader on a sporadic point of view hopping adventure throughout the world of Mr. and Mrs. Macbeth. Following Lady Mary, Seyton, Fleance, and the maids, we get an individual perspective of the events of Macbeth. It soon becomes very difficult to determine what events are being referred to, and extremely difficult due to the time frames being covered. The story covers many characters and relations, and gives an inside look at day to day... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The story begins to feel like slow motion as they are introduced in a long exposition covering the vast amount of people. We are repeatedly told how Lady Mary is afraid, and how she is struggling to escape the harsh realities of life with Lady Macbeth. She is always discussing her love life, something readers may find a bore. Although there is an early battle revealed in the novel, the drawn out expositions overshadow the suspense of Enter Three Witches. The novel also focuses too much on the role the witches play. In the original Macbeth, the battle of ambition versus prophecy is shown in the likes of Macbeth. Macbeth decidedly acts on his own accord, and his greed turns him into a mad man. It is shown countless times throughout the original that ambition trumps prophecy. In Enter Three Witches, the Witch s prophecy is the law of the land. They cannot be trusted, and will give false prophecy. They control the destiny of each character, and they are feared by everyone in the

In Araby , Eveline , and The Dead , three short stories featured in James Joyce s The Dubliners, the characters struggle with whether to live their lives with a structured routine or to seek opportunities, change, and adventure. These short stories center around everyday life for citizens of Dublin, Ireland in the early 20th century, when a choice between continuing the inherited tradition of routine and structure versus seeking any other form of life or adventure could be the most important decision in the peoples lives. With the terrible potato famine still in living memory and with Ireland seeking a new culture and identity, many of its citizens clung to their routine as means of survival. The war is not between sentries and squadrons of bottles, but between the routine of life versus the hunger for opportunity. After dinner, the guests begin to dance. The guests partake in memorized dance steps and fall into habit and routine, one after the other. These structured dance steps rob the dancers of their individuality and creativity as uniform seizes the dance floor. The dancers are either forced to abandon their creativity and join in on the synchronized march of the automatons or be excluded from the group. Later on in the story, Gabriel learns from his wife about a previous lover. Gabriel enters a pensive and reflective state, in which he muses on the mass snow covering all of Ireland, which most likely covers the grave of Michael, his wife s ex lover, as well as the graves of all future Dubliners. The snow, the culmination of millions of individual and unique snowflakes melting together to form one entity of uniformity, became a metaphor for the all encompassing routine of the characters in Dubliners, covering them in life and in death. Gabriel s reflections towards the end of the novel give the short story its name of The Dead , which is what all of the routine and structure does the characters in The Dubliners. Despite all of the negative occurrences that the routine of the evening and of life bring upon Gabriel, he summons the courage to change his bleak outlook on life, vowing to have a more optimistic and open view on the world. The Wicca Duo-Theistic Religious Movement INTRODUCTION Considered a duo theistic religious movement, the Wicca was developed in England during the first half of the 20th century and was introduced to the public in 1954 by Gerald Gardner, a retired British civil servant. Wicca draws upon a diverse set of ancient pagan and 20th century hermetic motifs for its theological structure and ritual practice. The dual aspect of said movement is represented by the feminine and masculine essences subject to it; these essences are commonly referred to by Wiccans as the God and the Goddess, father heaven and Mother earth respectively. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many people are under the impression that Wiccans use black magic or worship demons, not being this the case at all. At its core, Wicca is very much a neo pagan religion. It is built on the ideas of the old pagan religions that died around the time when Christianity became popular. The Wiccan concept of black magic is not summoning demons or performing black masses, on the contrary, many Wiccans would simply call it negative magic considering it any spell that hurts someone else, or attempted to help someone against their will. In spite of what many think, Wiccans seek to cultivate a set of eight virtues mentioned in Doreen Valiente s Charge of the Goddess, these being mirth, reverence, honor, humility, strength, beauty, power, and compassion. In Valiente s poem, they are ordered in pairs of complementary opposites, reflecting a dualism that is common throughout Wiccan

The Civil Rights Act outlawed discrimination based on race, color, sex, religion, or national origin. The Act essentially banned segregation in public places. The department of education was authorized to integrate schools, and federal funds were denied to any discriminatory education programs. In addition, the Civil Rights Act led to the creation of the Equal Opportunity Employment Commission. It is a federal agency that is still present, it enforces the civil rights laws against workplace discrimination. Most importantly, the Civil Rights act finally enforces the 15th amendment passed in 1870, which granted all men the right to vote regardless of race or color. The act enforced the 15th amendment by banning the unequal application of voting requirements, such as the literacy test and poll taxes, which prevented many people from voting. The Civil Rights Act was later expanded to provide assistance to seniors, the disabled, and women in sports. It also paved the way for the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and the Fair Housing Act of 1968. Under the Lyndon B. Johnson administration the Civil Rights Act became a law, and it paved the way for equality of all Americans. The legacy of the Civil Rights Act remains, and it helped with the decision of legalizing same sex marriage, a law that was passed 51 years after the Civil Rights

Reading this book makes you feel like you are living in the midst of the vividly depictive and picturesque scenes that O Reilly and Dugard bring the reader back to imagine in this book. I really enjoyed this book and I think it really helped me to capture what happened during World War II and the hardships and trials that the United Stateswent through to defeat Japan in one of the most decisive naval battles of World War II. The book describes men committing suicide with their swords and chopping off heads and it can be hard to imagine someone doing that. Personally, I really think you can gather a good understanding that this war in the Pacific was one of the deadliest battles in history from the examples from the book of things that were everyday events for these people. There were more than forty million fallen men by the time the war was over and the Japanese committed many abhorrent acts toward their prisoners. They would deprive them of food, shelter, medical necessities, and many other vital resources needed to survive a time like World War

The Cretaceous-Paleogene Boundary Essay The Cretaceous Paleogene Mass Extinction Wil Creasy Student Number: 20921355 The Cretaceous Paleogene boundary (K Pg boundary) was host to one of the three largest mass extinctions in the past 500 million years. Evidence suggests it was the result of a large asteroid impact approximately 65.5 million years ago in Chicxulub, Mexico; hence why the crater it formed was named the Chicxulub crater. The crater was approximately 180 kilometres in diameter and was believed to have led to the extinction of the dinosaurs amongst many other life forms including marine plankton (calcareous nannofossils and planktonic foraminifera) (Schulte et al., 2010). The Yucatan 6 borehole provided significant evidence to suggest that there was an impact event that took place. The composition of the melt rock was believed to have been the result of an impact rather than volcanic events (Kring and Boynton, 1992). What allowed scientists to confirm this, was the surviving clasts of target rock they discovered within the melt, were similar to that seen In the Manicouagan impact crater. (Kring, 2007) Furthermore, these clasts were said to be composed of shocked quarts and feldspar, which are indicative of an impact

At the Parliament House, Canberra, Mr Turnbull stated that people with dual citizenship are approved to visit the US, despite their beliefs or culture. My suggestion to resolve this problem, would be considering or further discussing possible prevention measures being overlooked to avoid the situation from escalating. I believe, everyone in Australia should be treated fairly and have equal rights. I also support people with dual citizenship and background from Pakistan, Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey or Iran should be treated the same as all Australian citizens, despite their race or background. I was disappointed with the negative change of the US citizenship rights, as a young boy with a dual Iranian Australian citizenship

I understand that an attempt to prosecute the chief criminals has been made, and has entirely failed; because the whole community, and in a sense our whole people, are really involved in the guilt. The failure of the prosecution in this case, in all such cases, is only a proof of the magnitude of the guilt, and of the awful fact that everyone shares in it. I will tell you why I am here; I will tell you what happened to me. When I read in the newspapers of August 14, a year ago, about the burning alive of a human being,... Someone may say that you and I cannot repent because we did not do the act. But we are involved in it. We are still looking on. Do you not see that this whole event is merely the last parable, the most vivid, the most terrible illustration that ever was given by man or imagined by a Jewish prophet, of the relation between good and evil in this world, and of the relation of men to one another? This whole matter has been an historic episode; but it is a part, not only of our national history, but of the personal history of each one of us. With the great disease (slavery) came the climax (the war), and after the climax gradually began the cure, and in the process of cure comes now the knowledge of what the evil was. I say that our need is new life, and that books and resolutions will not save us, but only such disposition in our hearts and souls as will enable the new life, love, force, hope, virtue, which surround us always, to enter into us. This is the discovery that each man must make for himself; the discovery that what he really stands in need of he cannot get for himself, but must wait till God gives it to

Frank Furedi believed that society tends to panic too much, as we actually enjoy an unprecedented level of safety. I admit that Frank Furedi s novel is based upon a novel concept, and an interesting one at that. However, Frank Furedi comes off to me as little more than a fear monger and an intellectual elitist. Fear can also make people bond. After 9/11, the whole country was in fear. Yet, for the first time I can remember, the whole country was a united one. For literacy, assessments serve as a window into the pupils knowledge and development. Assessments provide detail information of pupils weakness and strength in literacy (Afflerbach, 2012). It is important for the teacher to incorporate various assessments to compile a holistic view of the reader. When teachers can identify student strengths and weaknesses, they can make informed decisions to guide their teaching. At the same, they can create activities targeted to increase student reading performance. Throughout this paper, I will exemplify the information gained during the administration of reading informal assessments. Likewise, I will provide examples of activities that I can incorporate to prove the reading abilities of the target student. During the pasts weeks, I have been gathering information from students to obtain a better understanding of their reading abilities. While preparation for the operation was extensive, it resulted in the liberation of France (from the Germans), which later resulted Allies winning the Battle of Normandy and World War II (History.com). Extract Eighteen years ago in his masterpiece The Competitive Advantage of Nations Michael Porter developed a model to analyze the competitiveness and economic development of nations, regions, and cities, a model that is still a milestone in this field of enquiry. In this work I will try to show how that theory about competitiveness is related with some important aspects of economics of innovation, also in the light of the already visible effects of globalization. I believe that humans will act in violence when they feel threatened or believe that their violence is justified by a grater good. In his article titled Ordinary Germans and the Holocaust, Daniel J.
