4. Hydraulic System
➔ Hydraulic systems function and perform tasks through using a fluid
that is pressurized. Another way to put this is the pressurized fluid
makes things work.
➔ The power of liquid fuel in hydraulics is significant and as a result,
hydraulic are commonly used in heavy equipment.
➔ In a hydraulic system, pressure, applied to a contained fluid at any
point, is transmitted undiminished.
➔ That pressurized fluid acts upon every part of the section of a
containing vessel and creates force or power.
➔ Due to the use of this force, and depending on how it’s applied,
operators can lift heavy loads, and precise repetitive tasks can be
easily done.

● Moving Construction Machinery Using Hydraulic
Motors
The vast majority of equipment found on construction sites across
the world is propelled by hydraulic power.
That includes hydraulic final drive motors that convert hydraulic
power to torque to enable track loaders, bulldozers, diggers, and
backhoes to carry or push heavy loads.
● Backhoe for Excavation Purpose:-
A backhoe loader, also called a loader backhoe, digger in
layman's terms, or colloquially shortened to backhoe
within the industry, is a heavy equipment vehicle that
consists of a tractor like unit fitted with a loader-style
shovel/bucket on the front and a backhoe on the back
excavator

9. ● Hydraulic Props for Slab Formwork
Hydraulic props consist of a sealed working cylinder with two
valves, one for intake (setting valve) and the other for discharge
(release valve, working valve) of hydraulic fluid.
The function of the props is to stabilize incompetent roof or
hanging wall.
● Hydraulically Operated Scissor Lift
Scissor lifts require linear motion to supply elevation and this
force is provided by a pneumatic or hydraulic actuator, or a
mechanical input such as a leads crew or rack and pinion drive.
Scissor lifts under fluid power are preferred because a purge valve
allows the lift to be lowered during a malfunction

Disc hydraulic brakes work by applying pressure
or force on the brake pedal. This action
generates compressive force, which causes the
brake fluid to be compressed into the master
cylinder through a piston-cylinder arrangement.

➔ The hydraulic power steering system is a
closed loop system that uses pressurized
hydraulic fluids for changing the wheel
angle of front wheels based on steering
angle.
➔ It contains a hydraulic pump driven by a
belt, valves, cylinder, reservoir and a
driver control mechanism(rack &
pinion/steering gearboxes)

12. Pneumatic System
➔ A pneumatic system is a collection of interconnected
components using compressed air to do work for
automated equipment.
➔ Examples can be found in industrial manufacturing, a
home garage or a dentist office.
➔ This work is produced in the form of linear or rotary
motion.
➔ The compressed air or pressurized gas is usually filtered
and dried to protect the cylinders, actuators, tools and
bladders performing the work. Some applications require
a lubrication device that adds an oil mist to the closed
pressurized system.

pneumatic tools, which are currently very important
manufacturing devices.
● It is usually quite difficult to obtain a satisfactory and
precise speed control of a servo-pneumatic motor at a low
rotational speed because of the nonlinear deadband and
stick-slip friction inside the proportional valve

14. Pneumatic Break
➔ Pneumatic brakes, or air brakes or compressed air
brakes, use compressed air generated by a
compressor and stored in a reservoir.
➔ When the operator actuates the lever or pedal, a
valve allows the compressed air to flow to a piston
that engages the brake. A spring disengages the
brake when the pressure is released.

15. Air Suspension System
➔ Valves are crucial in this situation because they control
airflow and allow air to access various portions of the
system.
➔ When the system adjusts for different driving
circumstances, the solenoids open and close, inflating and
venting the airbags, changing the amount of air entering
each one.

16. Pneumatic Conveyors
➔ Pneumatic conveyors can move fine, dry material
using pressure differentials and a flow of gas,
typically compressed air or nitrogen.
➔ The material is totally enclosed within tubes or
pipes, where differences in pressures on either side
cause a flow of product.
➔ Push systems (also known as positive pressure
systems) can push materials from one inlet to many
outlets and pull systems (negative pressure) can
pull material from many inlets to one outlet.
