2. History
● The history of the internet began with the
creation of the computer in the 1950's.
● The first network launched by the US Defense
Department was called ARPANET.
● Originally the man who came up with this idea
of networking by computers was JCR Licklider.
● In the U.S. The first attempts of using the
internet was by researchers and universities.
3. History Part 2
● In the 70's and 80's the use of computers was
advancing and moved beyond Business and
Education.
● Today the internet is available across the globe
such as home,school,cafes,stores, and
libraries.
● No one owns the internet, but is controlled
through companies.
4. History Part 3
● Countries all over the world today are
connected through satellite up links, fibre optic
cables, computers and telephone lines.
● The internet lets people share information
through any time of the day or night.
● Today the internet helps people with
information, studying, and to learn about
anything that's of interest.
5. Electronic Mail
● Electronic mail also known as (email) is a
method of sending digital messages back and
fourth with one or more recipients.
● People who use email, creates an account and
creates contacts of who he/she want.
● In late 1971 computer engineer, Ray Tomlinson
invented the internet based email.
● The actual @ symbol was created to tell which
user was at the computer.
6. Web browsing
● Web browsing is a software application.
● Used to locate, retrieve,and display contents on
the world wide web.
● Today's browsers are fully functional software
that can interpret and display images,videos,
and applications.
● Many browsers offer plug ins to extend more
web browsing faster and more efficient.
