1830s.
Photography has been a medium of limitless possibilities since it was originally invented in the
early 1800s.
The world’s first photograph made in a camera was taken in 1826 by Joseph Nicéphore Niépce.

5. Black & White to Color
Color photography is photography that uses media
capable of reproducing colors.
In color photography, electronic sensors or light-
sensitive chemicals record color information at the time
of exposure.
Color photography has been the dominant form of
photography since the 1970s, with monochrome
photography mostly relegated to niche markets such as
art photography.
The first color photograph made by the three-color
method suggested by James Clerk Maxwell in 1855,
taken in 1861 by Thomas Sutton.
6. Digital Technology in Photography
Digital photography uses cameras containing arrays of electronic photodetectors to
capture images focused by a lens, as opposed to an exposure on photographic film.
