   In 1898 Lumiere Brothers presented the first
    publicly shown film “Arrival Of A Train A La Ciotat”
    and some people were frightened
   This was followed by screening in Calcutta and
    Madras in 1898. The Indian photographer Hiralal
    Sen founder of Royal Bioscope Company in
    Calcutta.
TELEVISION
 Arrival of Television by 1926
 The age of wireless, audio-visual, electronic
  transmission.
 Arrival of color television was by 1984
 The first color television set as follows
SILENT MOVIES
   The 1920‟s became the golden age for films and
    Hollywood turns actors into national and
    international celebrities.
   A scene from Raja Harishchandra (1913) – The
    first full-length motion picture by Dadasaheb
    Phalke .
TALKING MOVIE
 In 1927, the film “The Jazz Singer” was the first
  “talkie” and silent movie stars become memories
 The first

International talking
Movie.
 „Alam Ara‟ 1931, was the first Indian sound/ talking
  movie .
 Directed by Ardheshir M. Irani
1950S GOLDEN AGE OF
        INDIAN CINEMA
 Golden Age – 1950s and 1960s – that produced
  some of India‟s most critically acclaimed films and
  memorable actors of all time. Among those in
  Bollywood‟s hall of fame are
 Guru Dutt
   Balraj Sahani, Bimal Roy, Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor:
   Meena Kumari, Madhubala, Nargis:
   Indian cinema moved one step further with the
    release of K Asif`s Mughal-e-Azam in 1960. The
    film kickstarted a trail of romantic movies all over
    India.
CINEMA
Cinema    are basically
 classified into 3 types:-
1.   Narrative films
2.   Documentary films
3.   Experimental films
NARRATIVE FILMS:
   They began in 1890s and by 1910 had become a
    major industry and a new form of commercial
    leisure .
DOCUMENTARY FILMS
   Making is concern with exposure of true facts and
    historical events.
EXPERIMENTAL / ART FILM:
 They are not much commercialized.
 They are based on what is going in and around the
  society.
