Hitler was the leader of the Nazi party in Germany from 1933 to 1945. As leader, he transformed Germany into a totalitarian state known as the Third Reich and oversaw the Holocaust, which resulted in the genocide of millions of Jewish people. The Nazi party advocated for racial purity and believed communism and democracy were evil. Hitler committed suicide in 1945 as the Red Army approached Berlin to avoid being captured.

2. HITLER Hitler was the leader of the National Socialist German Workers Party. This was also known as the Nazi party. He was most well known for his leadership in the Holocaust. Hitler joined the Nazi party in 1919. He was given leadership of the NSDAP in 1921. Hitler became chancellor in 1933 and he transformed the Weimar Republic into the Third Reich. Hitler ended his life on April 30, 1945 in order to avoid being captured by the Red Army.

3. THE NAZI PARTY The Nazi party is also known as the National Socialist German Workers’ Party, which is abbreviated NSDAP. The NAZI party was the political party abbreviated DAP. Hitler was the leader. The logic behind the NAZI party was that communism and democracy were bad. Hitler’s empire degraded and murdered Jews during the Holocaust.

4. THIRD REICH The Third Reich was another name for Germany during the years of 1933 and 1945 while Hitler was the leader. It was a totalitarian dictatorship. Hitler was idolized by the Nazi state. They trusted him with all of the power.

5. GERMAN GOVERNMENT In 1914 the Bismarck legacy was abandoned and the Germans set up their own government in Warsaw. Municipal self-government was introduced by the Germans, and a Jewish self-government was put together. About .5 million French workers were forced to work at labor camps. The German’s were not affected when the population started to grow and there was an uproar of malnutrition. The German army decided to ignore these issues.
