Product Design Trends in 2024 | Teenage EngineeringsPixeldarts
The realm of product design is a constantly changing environment where technology and style intersect. Every year introduces fresh challenges and exciting trends that mold the future of this captivating art form. In this piece, we delve into the significant trends set to influence the look and functionality of product design in the year 2024.
How Race, Age and Gender Shape Attitudes Towards Mental HealthThinkNow
Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).

2. It is common nowadays that universities asks applicants
to send significant documents: curriculum vitae,
transcript of records, diploma (if you are to apply a
master’s degree) and so much more. Among others a
motivation to write an essay is one key element that
makes a difference in your application that can assure
you a place in any program you are applying for.
3. DO YOUR HOMEWORK
Before you start writing your motivation essay
for college, research on the university you are
applying to. Look for information necessary to
create your letter fit for their program.
Information like requirements, expectations
and qualities they are looking in a candidate as
this will give you an idea of what your letter
should contain.
1
4. MAKE AN OUTLINE
Make an outline of your main points to discuss
in your motivation paper. And as you go long,
you can build around those key points and
enrich the content. This technique will help
you get organized and prevent you to forget
important matters to discuss in the paper
later.
2
5. HAVE A STRONG
INTRODUCTION
The motivational essays gives your reader
what to expect.
The first sentence is the most vital portion of
the paragraphs because it gets the reader's
attention. Create a strong opening paragraph
of five sentences. Explain briefly who you are,
where you're from, why you have chosen the
particular subject you're applying, and why the
institution is among your priority choice.
3
6. MAKE YOUR GOALS CLEAR
When you write a motivation essay for
university be sure to include your professional
goals. Why you find interest in the subject of
study. What inclined you to choose that field?
What influenced you to take up this course
Also write any related experiences and discuss
future plans after you have received your
degree.
4
7. BRIEFLY DISCUSS YOUR
ACHIVEMENTS
In the body part of your essay motivation,
include a brief discussion of your
achievements that are essential to your
application. It is also a plus, if you include
extra-curricular achievements. For example,
you joined a club and had a chance to lead the
group. This shows that you are flexible and is
able to cope in any situation.
5
8. POSITIVITY
Remember to start always with your positive
points, weak points will be asked on
interviews, so don’t mention them in your
letter. Focalize on your strengths and talk
about yourself in a positive perspective. This is
how to write a great motivation letter.
6
9. NEVER GIVE TOO MUCH
INTORMATION
Giving too much information is a big no in
writing motivational essay for university. Some
statements involve emotional are very
intimate, so you should avoid this. Going into
details about your personal life not only
exposes you but it will give dullness to your
paper and your readers would show lack of
interest.
7
10. IT’S PERSONAL
Give your readers some insight into you as an
individual. Keep in mind that motivation
essays are personal. So it is your time to
showcase you uniqueness as a person in your
family, community or society.
If you want to quote others, focus on what you
accomplished from this person or what their
experiences taught you.
8
11. CONSIDER OTHER’S
OPINIONS
Have someone read you work and ask for
opinion on how to make your motivation essay
writing better. It is also a good idea to have
advices from those who had been admitted
about their letter. But as said earlier, keep it
original so avoid copying what they have.
9
12. EXPLAIN YOUR REASONING
So when writing this part of your motivational
essay for college, describe what and why have
you chosen to study in graduate school. Write
why this program is necessary for your
professional growth, and how great is the
need. And also what steered you to your
university of choice.
10
13. SHOW GRATITUDE
Bear in mind that the admitting committee are
reading lots of motivational essays despite
their tight schedules and deadlines. It is a
simple act of kindness, to thank them for their
time reading your letter.
11
14. PROOFREAD
It is wise to proofread your motivation for
paper writing before submitting it. There is
nothing more embarrassing than having the
wrong use of grammar and punctuation, as
well as misspelled words. Be sure to have it
error-free, because this is your chance to show
who you are and your passion in the subject.
