- Over 7.6 million New Yorkers have provided patient consent for their health information to be shared through RHIOs, growing modestly month-to-month. Unique affirmative consents increased 3% in July compared to the prior period and 19% compared to the prior year.
- Consent rates are highest in upstate and urban counties where fewer organizations cover more of the population. There is opportunity to improve consent in the Southern Tier and Taconic regions.
- All RHIOs except HealtheLink saw increases in unique affirmative consents for July compared to the prior period. Healthix's numbers may be temporarily inflated due to a data migration.

1) Care coordination requires improved information sharing both within care teams and across settings using health information exchange (HIE). However, current electronic health records (EHRs) were not designed for care coordination and do not adequately support sharing data and coordinating care.
2) NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital is working to enhance care coordination for patients with diabetes and depression by improving EHR tools, care team workflows, and data sharing across settings using its regional HIE.
