Indonesia plans to announce new electric vehicle policies and tax incentives to attract automakers and battery producers to set up local manufacturing. The policies aim to make Indonesia a global EV production hub. Akasol, a German battery systems maker, unveiled new high-energy battery modules with energy densities up to 221 watt-hours per kilogram. The modules use lithium-ion pouch cells arranged into modules for electric commercial vehicles. Batteries come in cylindrical, prismatic or pouch cell formats and are assembled into modules and packs for electric vehicles.
