 A hydrological plan has as its main
objectives to achieve good and adequate
protection of public water, the satisfaction
of demands of water, equilibrium of regional
development and streamlining its uses in
harmony with the environment.
It consists of:
 A water regime that allows the development
of River ecological functions and marine
ecosystem.
 An necessary measures to prevent
subsidence and Delta’s regression.
 Improve habitats and ecosystems.

 “La Assut de Xerta” is a dam constructed
Xerta diagonally from side to side along the
Ebro river about 375 meters. Its function is to
divert water into the channels of the Right
and the Left of the Ebro. It is located three
kilometers upstream of the town Xerta,
located between the municipal Xerta (right
bank) and Tivenys (left margin) in the Baix
Ebre.
 This reservoir is located Ulldecona in the village of
La Pobla de Benifassa, in the region of Lower
Mastership, in Valencia.
It is at the confluence of three gullies. It was built
in 1967, funded by farmers Ulldecona (which
gives the name). It has an area of 817 hectares​​
and a capacity of 11 million cubic meters. The
dam is 54 m high and 180 wide. In the summer,
spring and autumn Ulldecona reservoir is a tourist
place. There are accommodations and
restaurant sand you can rent boats to enjoy views
of the lake and the surrounding limestone
mountains.
 The irrigation channels are channels made ​​
to drive the water to the areas where you
need make a contribution to supplement
natural rainfall. In our land we use many
channels to grow agriculture, as we are in
an area where there are few precipitations.
For example, our rice fields are regenerated
through the channels.
 It is a social platform which was created by
local people have been fighting to defend the river
against various government transfer projects ever si
nce the 1970s.
 The Plataforma en Defensa de l’Ebre organised 
demonstrations of tens of thousands of people in
Barcelona in 2001, 2002, and 2003 in favour of the
 Ebro river.
 The river is the chief natural resource in the area
surrounding the river (Terres de l’Ebre)
so apart from direct effects on people
such as local rice farmers, shell­fish farmers, 
fishermen, eco­tourism firms and so on.
