This document describes a "Hidden Animals" activity for language learners. Students are tasked with finding animal names hidden within sentences. The activity can be done in pairs or groups and is intended to develop reading skills, pronunciation, and vocabulary review. A worksheet is provided with example sentences containing hidden animal names for students to solve. They are then asked to write their own sentences with hidden animals. The activity takes 20-25 minutes and can be used with students of varying ages and English levels.

1. Hidden Animals
This idea was from Iryna Sukhodolska, the only thing I have done is made a worksheet
for the students to use. The game was in “Teaching English Young Learners Activity
Book” available at the British Council website.
Age: Any age I have done it with Kindergarten ( draw pictures on the whiteboard) and
Senior High School kids.
Time: 20-25 minutes.

Materials: Worksheet, Pen, and board.
Organisation:Pair work, group work.
Aim: To develop reading skills and pronunciation and to revise vocabulary.
Description: This activity is designed to challenge student’s ability to read sentences
and find the names of animal hiding in the sentences. In the last task they write their
own sentences.
Preparation: Photocopy worksheet, write example on whiteboard.
Procedure
1. Ask the students to name all the animals that they know in English. Write the
names on the board.
2. Write the sentence “Close the door at once!” on the board. The kids read it and
find an animal hidden in the words. The answer is rat.
3. Give the worksheet to the kids. In pairs, they have to find the animals in the
sentences. Make it a competition - with a reward.
4. Those students who finish quickly can start to write their own sentences with
hidden animals in them that they can then share when everyone has finished.
