Arab Uprisings and the Outstanding Return to Democracy: Tunisia as a Model
In the wake of the Middle Eastern crises, the Tunisian case in focus has been doted as a unique
phenomenon being that it was the Genesis of the revolution that ultimately spread across the Middle East like
wild fire, but has eventually heralded a new dawn as democracy has incidentally returned to the Empire. This
literature therefore looks closely at the extent to which the ‘DignityRevolution’ has been instrumental in the
Middle East uprisings, which have brought an end to dynastic autocracies. The literature zeros in on the
Tunisian uprising which has attracted global concerns, sympathy and has sparked interests in the international
arena. The literature finds that the people hold colossal prospect in the uprising and its resultant effect, as it
paved the way for the revolutionist to generate, gather and disseminate information on the condition of the
entire region to the international community. The people in this context were of utmost importance and played a
very crucial role in the creation of awareness, mobilization of protesters and utmost determining the direction of
the uprising and also ensuring a speedy return to democratic rule. The paper submits that the role of the people
in ensuring that the ruins of the uprising is not left littering around and democracy restored is highly
commendable and should be a model for all other Arab countries involved in the revolution.

But towards the end of the chapter, we take a look at democracy r its absence in the relations among different countries. We examine the working of some international organisations. This allows us to ask a big question : are we moving towards democracy at the global level.

He knew of the problems and crime that faced the country but he refused to do anything about it. He was forced out of power in January 2011, and fled to Saudi Arabia. He was the first dictator/president to fall in the Arab Spring and he has been charged with drug trafficking by the new government of Tunisia.
- 3. Tunisiaone of the first people to immortalise • Mohamed Bouazizi was Revolution himself. This is because his food cart was taken from him by corrupt police, people believe that the money was going towards sending his sister to university. He was so disgusted by the corrupt police, he burnt himself stating that he couldn’t earn a living because of the government. He died in hospital 18 days after burning himself, and many of the Protestors in the Arab Spring look to him as a hero or as a Martyr
- 4. Egyptian Revolution The forth president of Egypt, and has been in office of 30 years. He had also been a commander in the Egyptian air force. He was the President when the Revolution began, and is known for being corrupt and ordering his police to do horrible things to political prisoners. After the Revolution it’s known that he had around ten thousand political prisoners from people who spoke badly to others who just voted against him.
- 5. Muammar Gaddafi Gained power because of the military and has been in power for 42 years. He is known for giving much of the Nations money to his family and himself. He addresses himself as the king of kings and the Brother Leader. After gaining power he got rid of the Libyan constitution and made his own laws. He is the main reason that the civil war began and after 3 months of fighting against the opposition, he is nearly beaten and only has a few strongpoints left in the country.
