Henry K. Teraszkiewicz has over 20 years of experience in environmental education and nature center management. He has a proven track record of growing budgets, programming, staff, and community involvement as the Executive Director of the Woodcock Nature Center. His expertise includes curriculum development, grant writing, physical infrastructure projects, and marketing/branding. Currently he is seeking a new position to continue providing educational opportunities that promote individual growth, community health, and environmental stewardship.

EXPERIENCE
1/2004 – 9/2015 Woodcock Nature Center, Inc. Wilton/Ridgefield, CT
Executive Director
Responsible for all operations and aspects of 501C3 not for profit
environmental education center and 149 acre nature preserve. Provided active,
experiential programming to over 10,000 participants per year via school
programs, summer camps, public programming, events, and visitation.
Designed, organized, and implemented complete “soup to nuts” recreation of
program and center, including but not limited to mission, staff, training,
programming, curriculum, fundraising, board committees, community,
marketing, technology, physical plant, media, materials and grounds.
Increased annual budget from ~$150,000 to ~$390,000 via increased program
income, creation and growth of large scale fundraising events, and successful
local, foundation and corporate grants.
Quadrupled permanent staff size, creating new positions while training,
developing and overseeing all staff. Created and funded staff benefits program,
including medical, disability and life insurance, maternity/paternity leave, and
professional development.
Redirected mission of Center and subsequent programming to meet 21st
century needs, including implementation of related technologies.
Developed, implemented and trained others in the “4E” programming model
for curriculum development and associated public engagement platform.
Created and implemented innovative Citizen Science programs including the
“Great Amphibian Migration”, vernal pool studies, and Project Feeder Watch,
eBird and the Great Backyard Birdcount with Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
Maintained 11 year relationship with local and state governmental agency lease
holders, navigating through multiple departments in both towns of Wilton and
Ridgefield, as well as within CT DEEP and CT DPH.
Created, developed, and implemented a complete re-brand of Center
marketing including visual media, social media, webpage, communications, and
original artworks and photographic content. Proficiency in internet
technologies (HTML, Wix, Constant Contact, Facebook, Instagram, Youtube,
etc.) and visual design via Adobe Photoshop and movie editing software
(various).
Created thriving community and volunteer engagement initiative via local
partnership organizations, local businesses, civic groups, corporations and
schools, including the creation and growth of high school internship programs
in Ridgefield, Wilton, and New Canaan sustaining 16 seasonal internships,
multiple year long volunteer positions and annual work days. Created annual

corporate workdays and giving programs with Deloitte, General Electric and
Blue Sky Entertainment.
Created organizational partnerships with Weir Farm National Historic Site,
Ridgefield Playhouse, The Hickories CSA, Aldrich Museum, Norwalk River
Watershed Association, Wilton Go Green Committee, Ridgefield Community
Center, Wilton YMCA, Ambler Farm, Two Coyotes Wilderness School and
Ridgefield Boys and Girls Club.
Held advisory board positions for Wilton Go Green, Everwonder Children’s
Museum, Ridgefield Green Village Initiative, Ridgefield Conservation
Commission, Ridgefield Arts Council, and Norwalk River Watershed Trail.
Designed, created, funded, and constructed physical rebuild of nature center
teaching, office, and living spaces, displays, and trail systems; including
teaching pavilion, injured birds of prey enclosures, natural playgrounds,
adventure apparatus, boardwalks, bridges, and tree and rock climb experiences.
Proficiency in design, engineering, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and small
and large machinery operation.
Recruited members to Board of Directors. Created and acted as de facto head
of board committees for development, fundraising events, grounds, budget,
health, and marketing.
Created programming for underprivileged populations including the Student
Natural Ambassador Program Scholarships (SNAPS), a multi-year program
originally funded by a $30,000 grant from the Ronald McDonald House
Foundation and later partnerships with Weir Farm National Historic Site and
multiple foundations and grant funders to bus in 16 children/year from
surrounding inner-city Norwalk and Danbury areas for Fresh Air experiences.
9/2000 – 1/2004 Woodcock Nature Center, Inc. Wilton/Ridgefield, CT
Education Director / Director of Summer Camp
Created, marketed, implemented and trained existing and new staff in new
school field trip curriculum. Programs were designed and marketed to
correspond with CT Frameworks for Science. Increased programs from ~20
classes/year to 275+classes/year.
Recreated existing “Junior Naturalist” summer camp curriculum for children in
preschool to 1st grade, and created new “Adventure Camp” curriculum for
children 2nd grade to 7th grade. Increased participation from ~250 annually to
600+.
Created and implemented “Teach the Teacher” programming and adult/senior
education programs.
Hired and trained seasonal staff and weekend educators. Increased summer
camp support staff two fold.
Oversaw and trained volunteers for educational programming, administrative
support, and animal care.
Created new and innovative public and scout programming.
Completed CT State camp certification and licensing.
Created new webpage and introduced new technologies for both office and
programming.
