Hend Ahmed Ali is an Egyptian electrical engineer with a B.Sc. from Cairo University. He has experience with programming languages like C++, MATLAB, and VHDL. His graduation project used image processing and machine learning algorithms to extract data from Egyptian ID cards. He has also completed projects involving digital modulation techniques, OFDM systems, temperature/motion monitoring systems, microprocessor design, and ALU design. Hend has skills in CAD tools, desktop programming, and interned at Egyptair working on network and telephony systems. He is proficient in English and Arabic and has fair German skills.
“A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.”
— Emo Philips
A fascination for Science & Technology and keen interest in the ever-growing world of technology motivated me to take up engineering. The power of research and delivering it for the growth of Society is what makes me interested in the technology side of science. I choose to major Computer science Engineering with an intense urge to delve into this challenging field.

A prototype based on SCADA system was developed as a result of the final project of the discipline entitled Applied Microcontrollers to Control and Automation Engineering. This course has project based learning (PBL) methodology. he prototype has a drive unit and a computer program. This evice was developed using a PIC18F4550 microcontroller and various electronic components: resistors, capacitors, LEDs, among others. The computer program was developed using programming language C Sharp (C #) in Visual Studio development environment. The interface between the program and the device is performed via USB communication. This prototype is now used in the discipline mentioned in order to teach practical lessons about embedded systems projects, USB communication, data acquisition and supervisory systems. As all stages of the project were presented to the students in a very detailed way and its development was performed on a real application, the students showed a lot of interest about this tool during the last school year.

Education
B.Sc. in Electronics and Electrical Communications Engineering, Faculty of Engineerig,
Cairo University, (2012-2016)
- Cumulative Grade: Very Good
Elsherok secondary school, Degla-Elmaadi, Egypt, Score: 97.4%. (2009-2011)
Technical Projects
Graduation Project (2016)
- “Arabic Optical Character Recognition System for Egyptian ID card”:
Image processing techniques have been exploited to extract various data fields from an
Egyptian ID card like the name of the card holder, the national number, the issue date, the
religion, and the marital status. Further, machine learning algorithms have been conducted
therein. For instance, “K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN)” clustering algorithm has been used to
cluster the extracted data.
- Software Tools/ Algorithms: C++, Open-CV, and some machine learning algorithms.
- Grade: Distinction.
- Academic Adviser: Prof. Mohsen Rashwan.
Communications Theory Projects(2015-2016)
- Digital Modulation Techniques (2015):
o Monte-Carlo MATLAB simulations have been conducted on various digital
modulation techniques like BPSK, QPSK, 16-QAM, and 64-QAM.
o These techniques have been compared to each other in terms of BER for different
values of SNR.
- OFDM (2016):
o Designed and implemented through Monte-Carlo MATLAB simulations a complete
OFDM system.
o Coded and uncoded cases have been considered.
o Noisy and fading channels have been considered—individually and simultaneously.
Temperature and Motion monitoring System(2015)
- Designed and tested a hardware circuit for temperature and motion monitoring system
(using PIC Microcontrollers).
- The hardware circuit was supported by a software program for continuously updating the PC
with the temperature and motion status.
Microprocessor Design (2014)
- Designed and implemented a 32-Bit general purpose integer pipelined processor based on
triadic Harvard architecture.
- VHDL was used along with the 54 instruction set.
Adder Unit in ALU(2013)
- Designed and implemented hardware logic circuit for division operation in an ALU.
- The algorithm used therein was some sort of modification on Newton-Raphson’s algorithm
(single/double precision).
