Casa Guatemala Orphanage Annual Report
Casa Guatemala had a successful year in 2019, enrolling 215 students and impacting over 130 families. The organization focused on providing education, nutrition, and healthcare to students and community members. For education, Casa Guatemala strengthened parental involvement and ensured students had necessary school supplies. The nutrition program served over 250,000 meals and snacks to students, and the organization's farm grew crops for meals. Healthcare was provided through the on-site clinic and visits from 20 medical teams who saw over 375 cases. Major capital projects included building new school bathrooms with support from donors. A Presentation On VEDA
VEDA is a Christian voluntary organization in Chilakaluripet, India that aims to uplift the lives of slum dwellers without discrimination. It provides several services and projects like a milk project that provides milk to children and malnourished individuals, a mid-day meal program for over 1,600 school children, basic education schools for over 1,200 slum children, medical care programs including antenatal care, income generation programs, housing construction, and plans to open a vocational training center. Nicaragua has high rates of malnutrition among children, with over 40% of children under 5 suffering from chronic malnutrition and nearly 25% experiencing stunted growth. World Vision is distributing donations of VitaMeal, a nutritional supplement created by Nu Skin, to child care centers in impoverished areas of Nicaragua. At a center in Yali that cares for 90 children, the cook has created meals using VitaMeal that the children enjoy and that provide needed nutrition. Thanks to purchases and donations of VitaMeal by Nu Skin distributors and customers, malnourished children in Nicaragua are able to receive nutritious meals through initiatives like Nourish the Children.

Although menstruation is an integral part of human life, it is often considered a taboo and has met many negative cultural hindrances and attitudes. Women and girls in the Awutu Senya East municipality especially those in school suffer most from stigma and lack of services and facilities to help them cope with the physical and psychological pains. Other challenges include inadequate preparations for the young girls who have not yet menstruated, lack of materials to manage menstrual hygiene, lack of private space and wash rooms , as well as inappropriate facilities for disposal of menstrual materials.
The project therefore responds to these challenges by building the capacity of 10 schools and teachers to improve and uphold menstrual hygiene management among 1000 girls selected from public schools in vulnerable communities.
Proposed activities to achieve the goal include
i) Facilitate training sessions among beneficiary girls and senior women teachers to impact skills on other pupils,
ii) supporting and training girls to locally make reusable sanitary pads:
iii) Setting up welfare counselling rooms in all the 10 schools to provide psychological and emotional support for girls in menstrual period, and
iv) Conduct community advocacy and sensitization durbar on menstrual hygiene management.
1) How will you define success for this program?
The menstrual hygiene project will define success by the
i. Increase in the number of schools and senior women teachers who are equipped to teach menstrual hygiene and its management
ii. Improvement in school attendance of girls at age of menstruation iii) Reduced stigma and isolation of girls from boys due to improved knowledge and understanding on menstrual hygiene iv) Increase in the number of school girls who are able to manufacture re-usable sanitary pads v) Improvement in access to responsive information on sexual and reproductive health including menstrual hygiene among school girls and teenagers vii) Increase in access to hygienic and sanitary menstrual materials among menstruating girls
2) Provide an explanation of how this project is innovative within your local context, within a class of similar programs, or in its overall approach.
As girls resort to the use of old cloth, dirty napkins and other un-hygienic materials as means of coping with menstruation, the project will actively engage the beneficiary girls to learn the skills of making re-usable sanitary pad which is relatively a new concept in the Municipality. The girls will be encouraged through project assignments to replicate the skills at household and community levels by teaching peers, siblings, and parents. In addition, the project will through the welfare counseling room, provide emotional and psychological support to girls who menstruate during school sessions. The counselling room will be unique to the beneficiary school because all the programs on menstrual hygiene focuses on information sessions without provision

Marang House provides medical care and a stable home environment for chronically ill children in South Africa. They care for 12 children between ages 4-14 who have conditions like renal failure and diabetes. They have been informed that their main funder, the National Lotteries, will no longer provide funding. As a result, they urgently need a new or second-hand 12-seater bus to transport the children daily from their home to the hospital for school and treatment. Marang House has cared for over 100 children since 1998, saving the South African government over $2 million.

The community of Oldonyowas in Tanzania faces challenges including lack of educational resources and infrastructure, limited access to clean water and quality healthcare, and few economic opportunities. The community relies on animal husbandry and faces problems with unreliable crops due to semi-arid climate. Free The Children will partner with Oldonyowas to implement programs in education, clean water and sanitation, health, agriculture, alternative income generation, and community development to empower residents and help them lift themselves out of poverty.
GIVING HEARTS UGANDA
Giving Hearts Uganda is a non-profit organization that aims to empower vulnerable communities through various programs. They support orphans and vulnerable children through education programs, provide healthcare services for those infected with HIV/AIDS, conduct economic empowerment activities like sustainable agriculture and microfinance, and offer capacity building. MH - Bus Appeal Letter 2015 Directors
Marang House provides medical care and a stable home environment for chronically ill children in South Africa. They care for 12 children between ages 4-14 who have conditions like renal failure and diabetes. They have been informed that their main funder, the National Lotteries, will no longer provide funding. As a result, they urgently need a new or second-hand 12-seater bus to transport the children daily from their home to the hospital for school and treatment. Marang House has cared for over 100 children since 1998, saving the South African government over $2 million.

Combined Illegal, Unregulated and Unreported (IUU) Vessel List.
The best available, up-to-date information on all fishing and related vessels that appear on the illegal, unregulated, and unreported (IUU) fishing vessel lists published by Regional Fisheries Management Organisations (RFMOs) and related organisations. The aim of the site is to improve the effectiveness of the original IUU lists as a tool for a wide variety of stakeholders to better understand and combat illegal fishing and broader fisheries crime.
To date, the following regional organisations maintain or share lists of vessels that have been found to carry out or support IUU fishing within their own or adjacent convention areas and/or species of competence:
Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR)
Commission for the Conservation of Southern Bluefin Tuna (CCSBT)
General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM)
Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC)

The Combined IUU Fishing Vessel List merges all these sources into one list that provides a single reference point to identify whether a vessel is currently IUU listed. Vessels that have been IUU listed in the past and subsequently delisted (for example because of a change in ownership, or because the vessel is no longer in service) are also retained on the site, so that the site contains a full historic record of IUU listed fishing vessels.
Unlike the IUU lists published on individual RFMO websites, which may update vessel details infrequently or not at all, the Combined IUU Fishing Vessel List is kept up to date with the best available information regarding changes to vessel identity, flag state, ownership, location, and operations.

Through the publication of original research, policy discussions and evidence research papers AHMR provides a comprehensive forum devoted exclusively to the analysis of contemporaneous trends, migration patterns and some of the most important migration-related issues.
Border towns and spaces of (in)visibility.pdf
This report explores the significance of border towns and spaces for strengthening responses to young people on the move. In particular it explores the linkages of young people to local service centres with the aim of further developing service, protection, and support strategies for migrant children in border areas across the region. The report is based on a small-scale fieldwork study in the border towns of Chipata and Katete in Zambia conducted in July 2023. Border towns and spaces provide a rich source of information about issues related to the informal or irregular movement of young people across borders, including smuggling and trafficking. They can help build a picture of the nature and scope of the type of movement young migrants undertake and also the forms of protection available to them. Border towns and spaces also provide a lens through which we can better understand the vulnerabilities of young people on the move and, critically, the strategies they use to navigate challenges and access support.
The findings in this report highlight some of the key factors shaping the experiences and vulnerabilities of young people on the move – particularly their proximity to border spaces and how this affects the risks that they face. The report describes strategies that young people on the move employ to remain below the radar of visibility to state and non-state actors due to fear of arrest, detention, and deportation while also trying to keep themselves safe and access support in border towns. These strategies of (in)visibility provide a way to protect themselves yet at the same time also heighten some of the risks young people face as their vulnerabilities are not always recognised by those who could offer support.
In this report we show that the realities and challenges of life and migration in this region and in Zambia need to be better understood for support to be strengthened and tuned to meet the specific needs of young people on the move. This includes understanding the role of state and non-state stakeholders, the impact of laws and policies and, critically, the experiences of the young people themselves. We provide recommendations for immediate action, recommendations for programming to support young people on the move in the two towns that would reduce risk for young people in this area, and recommendations for longer term policy advocacy.

These centers provide children aged three to five-years-old with: • A healthy meal and a nutritious snack daily & Multi-vitamin supplements • Regular deworming & Regular monitoring and evaluation of each child’s nutritional status • Lessons in basic hygiene

This leaves them more vulnerable to illnesses that they cannot afford medical care for and unable to provide for even their most basic needs. In many cases, family members are unable to help as they struggle to feed themselves and their children. This leaves the elderly without any form of support and often living in heartbreaking conditions. Our Elderly Care sponsorship program allows us to bring life-sustaining food and medical care to people who would otherwise be left to die.

These stoves reduce the risk of burn injuries; additionally, the chimney directs smoke out of the house, cutting down on smoke inhalation problems and smoke-related eye problems.

We do this by providing the following services: Development of professional architectural plans; ensuring houses are professionally planned and built to withstand the perils of the climate here in the Guatemalan Highlands; purchase of land and deed titles in areas that are close to local services and facilities; providing our families with permanent security and land ownership; building and construction of properties .. .

FAMILY AID The Family Aid program aims to support indigenous families living in the highlands of rural Guatemala and the many varied obstacles they face living in extreme poverty. We help provide emergency housing, medical care, ongoing nutritional support, water filters, fuel-efficient stoves, and basic household necessities.

On a daily basis we regularly treat people for Pneumonia, high-blood pressure, strokes, diabetes as well as attempt to provide preventative treatment for gastric cancer – a major issue here in the highlands.

SEWING PROGRAM The Sewing Project is an Income Generating Program that promotes the economic advancement of women by providing them with skills to use sewing machines as well as basic business skills. We have so far had over 150 women come through our six month long sewing classes, with a long waiting list of women wanting to take part. Many of these women have been able to use their new found skills to establish small businesses, sell their products within the community and support their families independently.

CARPENTRY SCHOOL The carpentry school offers a unique opportunity for unskilled workers throughout the rural areas of Guatemala to develop a vocational trade. Students (aged 16 and over) graduate with a well paying s kill that offers work opportunities throughout Guatemala. Students are taught basic carpentry skills (using both hand and power tools) as well as safety instruction.
