Elderly women who are poor and live alone or with dependent children find them vulnerable, powerless and are neglected by their family or grown up children. Many are too old or physically weak and thus unable to find work. They are forced to beg, and are often homeless. They worked hard all their lives, brought up children, and later took care of grandchildren. Now, at the last stage of their life, when they are helpless and lack even food and shelter, they deserve our help.

communities about conservation of
environmental & ecological resources and

that help preserve biodiversity (through

programs, organic farming education
programs, etc.).

8. Kaushambi Village Project
• The Kaushambi Village
Project is an undertaking by
members of the DFoundation NGO to help
protect a site of enormous
historical importance, and to
use this site to benefit the
disadvantaged and starving
people of the surrounding
area. It is an effort to
purchase a 15,000m2 site
with ancient links to the
beginnings of Buddhism and
use it for the good of the
local people.
9. Child labour and inmate release
• There are many kinds of child
labour in India. Poor families
may be forced to sell their
children into hard labour;
other children take on jobs
to help their family survive.
D. Foundation works to free
children from all kinds of
labour into education while
also supporting their families.
10.
11. Outreach and direct assistance
• Slum and street people live with
little or no shelter, they have no
access to water, care or even
food. Many commit suicide,
knowing there will be no
improvement and survival is
uncertain. D-Foundation
provides emergency and longterm direct assistance as well as
legal support to individuals and
families.
16. At the beginning of
January, a social worker
brought five orphans to the
D-Foundation office. We
have been working to
ensure accommodation,
food, schooling and
complete rehabilitation with
the support of the
government.
Also constructed a new
room, a kitchen and
arranged a motor pump for
water.
New home constructed for them
22. Women's Destitute Shelter
• This government facility houses 100
destitute women, girls and their babies.
Living conditions are unhygienic and
severely cramped, lacking all necessary
human care. Inmates cannot leave the
secured facilities and are detained
indefinitely. D. Foundation works for
their release and rehabilitation into a
secure future.
25. • We helped the
marriage of 4 girls on 4
Feb 08 at Women
Juvenile Home.
• 12 marriages have
been done on 20th of
may 08 at Women
Juvenile Home.
26.
27.
28. Educational Academy
• Destitute girls and village girls and
women have no access to education and
are unable to acquire skills. DFoundation has just built an academy
where 250 women and girls will receive
free training in recognised diploma
courses thus opening up their life
opportunities.
31. Vocational training
• Village women in India lack the means to
support themselves and their families.
Through skills and education, D-Foundation
enables girls to be more self-sufficient and
able to support their future families.
