Project TAFETA aims to create "smarter" apartments for senior citizens using new technologies and safer designs. This will help the growing number of elderly people in Ontario live more independently rather than moving to long-term care facilities. The project coordinates remote health monitoring, develops safer home environments, and builds prototype apartments. It brings together experts from healthcare, engineering, technology and design. The smart apartments will monitor residents' health, help prevent unnecessary hospitalizations, and allow seniors to receive education and counseling through videoconferencing technology. The goal is to give seniors greater independence through innovative home care solutions.
