Hand washing
Proper hand washing is essential to keeping infants healthy as their immune system is low. “Hand washing is the most
important health practice that parents /educators and children must implement to reduce the spread of infections.”
(Pimento, Page 129) This was seen when my baby had many colds and ear infections within the first year. Although it is
common for infants to catch colds and infections, I need to use proper hand washing.

Sudden infant death syndrome
Sudden infant death syndrome in which a healthy baby dies suddelly,usually during sleep, for no apparent reason
(crib death), SIDS infants,many of whom were born prematurely or with low birth weight ,are less able to withstand physiological
stresses and imbalances that are brought on by cigarette smoke,breathing (A Chronological Approach p107)that is temporarily
interrupted.or by overheated.
Prematurely or low birth weight was seen on my baby, in case of he have those accident ,I have to watch out of his growth.
Allergies
Allergies are the result of our body’s hypersensitivity to a substance. These substances are not usually harmful to most
people(e.g.,pollen, peanuts, feathers, animal fur, perfume , latex), but for those with allergies.they can cause mild to severe allergic
reactions. (Health foundation p186)Daycare centre should cautions about those substance, let it out of reach of the children.
Safety –approved car and booster
After the first year of life children are more likely to die from accidets than from any other single cause (center for
disease Control and prevention 2000)Motor vehicle accidents are the most common cause of accidental death in infants
and toddlers. Many of these deaths could be prevented if the youngsters were restrained properly in an approved infant
car set . One of my mother’s friend, she rides a motor vehicle to pick up her son, at that era, infant car set is in the air ,
her son death in a traffic accident. Parents will concern about this safety-approved car and booster when they going out.

Breast feeding is idealism
The breast milk is perfectly suited to infants. It is species specific. Breast mild contains antibodies that provide infants
with immunity against some infections during breast –feeding, whereas infant formula does not offer that
benefit .Exclusively breast –fed infants are also less likely to be the victims of (SIDS) (Healthy foundation 251)Breast –fed
is highly recommended now, it’s not only to help your cervix recover quickly but also benefit your baby.
Immmunization

2. Before vaccines were developed , epidemics caused thousands of people to die or, in the case of polio, to be left
physically challenged. Immunization is one of the most important ways of promoting the health of children. Vaccines,
however have not eliminated these viruses. (Health foundation 123-124) Vaccines can have lifelong immunity, it means that their
antibody remain in our body to fight with some disease.

DROWNING
An item on the news about a toddlers drowning or nearly drowning in pools has started you thinking about swimming lessons,
even though the apartment pool has a locked gate around it.(Virtual child report ). Childrend have huge curiosity .they are
willing to explore everything. I will pay more attention on him when we swimming on the pool.
Gastrointestinal infections: Diarrhea
Diarrhea is the most common symptom of gastrointestinal infection.Basically, diarrhea is a change in the
consistency or frequency of an individual’s bowel movements. Educators play an important role in preventing
other children or staff from getting the infection . Diarrhea spreds easily among children .my baby always has
indigestion and diarrhea, it might be get infection in daycare center.

Balance Nutrition
A lack of adequate nutrition indicated, in part, by children being small for their age. （A Chronological Approach P
122）Some of the toddlers might be have bad diet habit that can lead to malnutrition ,some of the children fond of
snacks ,and lack of the nutrition from the food. To break this negative cycle ,children need more than a better diet.
However children with history of infant malnutrition had much lower scores on intelligence tests. And apparently
damages the brain,affecting a child’s intelligence and ability to pay attention(Morgane et al.,1993)
Preventing Medication Errors
Medication errors such as giving medication to a child who wasn’t prescribed a drug .mixing up medications among
children, giving an incorrect dosage and so on.- right children, -right medication,- right time or,- right route,always use
a measuring spoon ,dropper ,or cup designed for medication.(Healthys foundation P184)
Out door safety equipment
The outdoor equipment should be check it well before children going out for entertainment .the height and the safety.
make sure children won’t feel off from the equipment. Otherwise injury could be happen.
