Scene two finds the main character Jake Gyllenhaal in the dark cutting a fence, with only diegetic sounds like trains. Scene three has Jake confronted by a security guard's flashlight. Scene four includes flashing police lights and diegetic traffic sounds as Jake speaks to another character. The fifth scene uses natural sunlight to signify a change after the previous scenes' events.
The document analyzes the opening scene of the film Nightcrawler through its use of visual techniques and mis en scene elements. It describes how the opening establishes mystery and tension. It shows a man facing away from the camera next to a car, cutting a fence at night which builds tension around what he is doing. Later shots reveal he has stolen a police officer's watch, suggesting he may be the antagonist. The mis en scene of a scrap yard implies he stole the fence for money. His determination in negotiations also foreshadows he will not give up easily on future goals. Overall, the opening uses visuals to set up an ambiguous and mysterious scene that intrigues the audience.

This document lists potential actors for roles in a production called Exodus. For the doctor role, Michael Green is suggested because his beard and glasses make him look the part of a doctor and he has previous acting experience. Vasoula Christidoulu is proposed for the nurse role as she is between 23-30 years old and is a good actor. Christopher Von Clienmen is put forward for the inspector part since he has a suit and looks the detective type. Joe Sebastian Appleby is listed for the patient role mainly because he was available at the time of filming and looks younger than the rest of the cast.
The document discusses test shots for the film Exodus and focuses on the character Josh Pyne. It indicates that the test shots were done in a surgical theatre. Only limited context is provided in the short document, but it appears to relate to preparing test footage for the character and scenes involving a surgical setting for the film Exodus.
Flood lights around the set would provide necessary lighting for good footage output. The use of three to four flood lights would be enough as they are capable of lighting outdoors or indoors. Natural lighting such as the sun or indoor lights was considered but rejected due to the relative darkness of the room, so flood lights were used instead to provide sufficient lighting for better footage output.
This document lists the props, costumes, and sets needed for the play "Exodus - Josh Pyne". The props include sheets, needles, and makeup. The sets are a surgical theatre and space. The costumes consist of a lab coat, two suits, a nurses outfit, and surgical gloves. It also mentions a cost breakdown for the props and sets.
The document provides location ideas for a project including space, a surgical theatre, and an overhead shot of Earth. For the space shot, stock NASA imagery was edited in Photoshop and used as a background in After Effects. The surgical theatre was created on a set by dressing a table with medical equipment and adding flood lights and a curtain. The overhead Earth shot was made using Cinema 4D to model the Earth with layered textures for clouds, land, and sea along with lighting effects and tiny lights in the dark areas to represent human infrastructure.
The detective enters a room where a doctor and nurse are examining an unconscious patient. The doctor is irritated by the interruption but the detective insists on knowing what is happening. They discuss that the patient has been unconscious since arriving with extremely low pulse. The doctor injects the patient with a needle after the nurse passes it to him. The detective learns the patient was found near a crash site but had no cuts or bruises. The detective then examines the patient before thanking the doctor and leaving.
The institutional logo plays with electronic robot sounds and a grid growing effect. The camera then zooms in on the logo until it comes into focus and fades out, starting the credits. Next, the camera pans to a model of Earth while creepy music and breathing can be heard in the background. Text passes like stars and asteroids as the camera moves through space towards Earth. After a supposed spaceship crashes into the model planet, the scene cuts to a character walking into a room and interacting with others. As they converse, walking, talking, coughing and doors can be heard in the background along with creepy music that gets louder at certain points to signify changes or importance, with camera angles focusing on specific characters.

The document discusses different opening options for a film and the opening chosen. The filmmaker will use a mixture of options - starting with an institutional logo, then panning over an image of Earth to signify the sci-fi genre, and finally cutting to the main character walking into a room and interacting with other characters to set the scene. This opening was selected to effectively represent the sci-fi/thriller genre through visual cues like technology and futuristic effects from the logo and Earth image before introducing the character and story.
Renewable energy comes from resources that replenish naturally like sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves and geothermal heat. It contributed 19% to global energy consumption and 22% to electricity generation in 2012-2013. Worldwide investments in renewable technologies amounted to over $214 billion in 2013, with many countries heavily investing in wind, hydro, solar and biofuels. Renewable resources exist across wide geographical areas unlike other energy sources. Rapid deployment of renewables is resulting in significant benefits to energy security, climate change mitigation and economics. National renewable markets are projected to continue growing strongly in the coming decades.

Horror films seek to elicit negative emotions in audiences by playing on primal fears involving themes like the supernatural and macabre. Common horror roles include ghosts, aliens, vampires, and more. The earliest horror shorts date back to the late 1890s and included supernatural events, helping to establish the genre. Directors like Alfred Hitchcock developed unique styles for representing horror through techniques like cameo appearances and allowing the camera to take on human qualities that drew audiences into the mystery. Hitchcock also tended to use opposing gender stereotypes in his films by portraying female characters as dangerous and risk-taking, while males were more caring and risk-averse.
Tim Burton is an American film director, producer, writer, artist and animator known for his dark, gothic style in films like Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, and The Nightmare Before Christmas. The document discusses Burton's signature auteur style seen in his film openings, which often feature tension-building techniques like jump cuts between character angles and camera movements that follow or pass through objects. It provides examples of the openings to Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, and The Nightmare Before Christmas, noting the use of dark lighting, creepy non-diegetic music, and quick cuts between shots to build an ominous mood in each.
The document reflects on a preliminary filmmaking task where the student encountered several issues including lack of planning, minimal group contribution and communication, and uncooperative group members. As a result, the shoot was poorly organized with no script, inconsistent shots, and very slow production speed. The student learned they need to create a solid script, choose group members more carefully, split up tasks to keep everyone busy, and think about editing while shooting to get alternative shots and angles.
The document outlines an idea for a film about a lonely young man who seeks female attention online and plans to meet someone he meets on a dating website. However, it is revealed at the end that the person he has been communicating with is actually a disguise for his own subconscious, which has been slowly taking over his life without him realizing it until it is too late. The document provides details on the feasibility, props, settings, locations, time period, actors, and equipment needed to produce the film.
This document summarizes research on three major film studios - 20th Century Fox, Warner Bros, and Universal Pictures - as potential partners for producing and distributing a horror film. 20th Century Fox primarily focuses on comedy, fantasy and family films, and prefers to distribute rather than produce horror. Warner Bros has produced and distributed many well-known horror films. Universal Pictures has less experience with the horror genre and its horror films were not as successful as Warner Bros'. Therefore, Warner Bros is concluded to be the best partner out of the three studied.

In an education system, it is understood that assessment is only for the students, but on the other hand, the Assessment of teachers is also an important aspect of the education system that ensures teachers are providing high-quality instruction to students. The assessment process can be used to provide feedback and support for professional development, to inform decisions about teacher retention or promotion, or to evaluate teacher effectiveness for accountability purposes.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
