Income level is a major determinant of health in the community. High-income residents can easily access quality healthcare through good insurance plans and afford medications, allowing for prompt treatment and recovery. In contrast, low-income earners struggle to access care due to high insurance premiums and costs for medical services and prescriptions that they cannot afford. Initiating change in the community to improve healthcare quality faces challenges such as lack of cooperation among residents and individualism that hinders collective efforts.

One of the main health determinants in my community is income and the average social status of
a given individual. High-income community members tend to have an easy time accessing
quality healthcare and getting treatment promptly. The main logical explanation behind this is
that they have the best insurance covers which cater for all their illnesses. These individuals
comprehensively secure the covers from different sophisticated insurance companies,
guaranteeing them good health and medical care at all times. High-income earners also access
the best drugs and prescriptions for their ailments. Since they have enough money to purchase
the best drugs, this class of individuals opts for the best drugs which guarantee them quick
recovery. On the other hand, low-income earners in my community have trouble accessing
quality healthcare. One of the main reasons why they find it hard to access quality healthcare is
the number of premiums to be paid monthly for insurance cover, (Dickman, Himmelstein &
Woolhandler, 2017). This is a tough task for the low-income earners as they fail to raise the
needed amount due to poverty. Payment of cash for the various medical services and
prescriptions is also a tough exercise for this particular group. This makes it hard for them to
access medical care as they cannot afford it, whether through insurance covers or by cash,
(Sommers et al, 2017). This leaves them with limited access to medical care in the different
health institutions.
Initiating and sustaining change in my community is faced with several challenges such as lack
of cooperation from community dwellers. Many of the community members do not make time to
meet up and discuss the various ways that can be employed in the quest to boost the quality of
healthcare. Individualism among members also hinders the efforts to initiate change.
