3. Among the benefits of using Hastelloy C276 rods is
their excellent corrosion resistance in both
oxidizing and reducing environments. Due to its
high molybdenum and chromium content, as well
as the addition of tungsten, 2.4819 Alloy C 276 is
highly resistant to chlorine-induced stress
corrosion cracking. Because of these elements in
the alloy, the ASTM B574 UNS N10276 alloy can also
resist general corrosion, such as pitting and crevice
corrosion.
The Hastelloy C276 Bar Stock can be used at
temperatures up to 1900°F or 1038°C in
environments containing oxidative chemicals. As a
result of its low chromium content, Hastelloy C276
Round Bar cannot function or provide good
resistance in oxidative media such as hot,
concentrated nitric acid. As a result of its low
carbon content, ASTM B574 N10276 does not
precipitate carbide, so it can be used for welding.

4. Despite the fact that alloy C276 Round Bar cannot
be hardened by heat treatment, cold working can.
The work hardening rate of Hastelloy C276 Hex Bar
is higher than that of conventional austenitic
stainless steels, so that should be considered. It is
easy to weld and process Hastelloy C276 Flat Bar in
a shop using standard fabrication methods, just as
it is with conventional austenitic stainless steels
and nickel-based alloys.
When stainless steel, Alloy 400, and Alloy 625 fail
under crevice conditions, the Hastelloy C276 Bar
performs well in marine environments. For the
recovery and processing of sour natural gas
containing hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide, and
chlorides, ASTM B574 N10276 is widely used.
