A new law requires all nonprofits to file tax forms with the IRS by May 15th or risk losing their tax-exempt status. Over 1,800 nonprofits in Hawaii could be affected if they do not take action. Small nonprofits with under $25,000 in annual revenue need to electronically file an IRS form 990-N by the deadline to maintain their status. The Hawaii Alliance of Nonprofit Organizations encourages all nonprofits to check if they are compliant or risk paying fees to reinstate their tax-exempt status.
