Hannah Arendt was a 20th century German-Jewish political philosopher who lived through World War I and II. She fled Nazi Germany and immigrated to the United States in 1941. Arendt made significant contributions through her works such as The Origins of Totalitarianism and Eichmann in Jerusalem, becoming a prominent political theorist and the first woman to become a full professor of politics at Princeton University. She died in 1975 at age 69.
