Importance Of Ethics On Accounting And Business At Large
The Importance of Ethics in Accounting Zachary J. Blake ACCT 302 B01 LUO 06OCT14 The
Importance of Ethics in Accounting Abstract: Ethics are of the utmost concern within accounting
and business at large. Ethics are the standard by which we make moral choices and decisions in our
lives. In business and accounting, ethics give external users such as stakeholders, venture
capitalists, and others a measure by which they can weigh financial statements and information to
see if they are accurately portrayed. There are many different standards which govern the ethics of
the accounting profession such as United States GAAP and European IFRS. Legislation, such as
the Sarbanes Oxley Act, has been passed to ensure that these ethics are maintained. Introduction:
Ethics are the backbone of the accounting profession and are a subject of utmost importance within
the field of business. Ethics within the accounting profession ensure that financial information is
presented truthfully. Accounting ethics deals with specific questions on whether a given business
practices is acceptable or not. To this end, many standards, principles and agencies such as FASB,
GAAP, IASB, IFRS, and the Securities and Exchange Commission have been formed to codify
and enforce these ethics. There has also been an increasing desire within the general public for
transparency within publically held firms largely due to recent corporate scandals and the general
power large corporations wield over society (MelГ©,

Biblical Allusions In Golding s Lord Of The Flies
As authors create their stories, they use a variety of symbols to give depth to their writing. The
use of religious symbols are one of the methods Golding uses uses to attain this. In Lord of the
Flies, Golding repeatedly uses biblical allusions of the island, the beast, and Simon to correspond
with the boy s actions of temptation in sin, and the hope for rescue from the island.
One of the largest biblical allusions in the entire novel can be found as soon as the book begins, as
the island represents the Garden of Eden, with the lush groves of fruit trees directly paralleling
Eden, and having long beaches and a warm pool by the shore, it is a good place to be stranded
upon. This is our island, it is a good island. Until the grownups come to fetch us we ll have fun.
(Chapter two) This acknowledges the fact that the island is paradise like Eden, but also that the
boys are still innocent, not knowing yet the sin that plagues humanity, in the same manor as Adam
and Eve, who were innocent before they ate of the forbidden fruit and had to leave Eden. The
boys also had to leave the island when they lost their innocence, such as Adam and Eve had to.
The parallels of Adam and Eve in the boys are also represented by the quote Stood there naked,
looking at the dazzling beach and water (Chapter 1) The biblical parallel for the boys being naked
on the island is Adam and Eve being naked in Eden. Golding uses religious symbols in more than
setting to influence his writing.
Golding also uses Christianity to develop major plot points in Lord of the Flies, such as the
coming of the beast onto the island and the fear surrounding it. The events of Chapter ^ beast
from air connect the beast to the falling of the Lucifer out of heaven through the events of a dead
parachutist falling onto the island. As Samneric discover the dead man, they believe that he is
the rumored beast the littluns have been fretting over, using phrases like It was awful, it kinda sat
up There were eyes, teeth, claws These events of the beast falling out of the sky resemble Satan
falling out of Heaven after betraying God , only to deceive Adam and Eve to disobey God and eat
of the forbidden fruit, which would make them lose innocence and gain the

The purpose of this assignment was to accurately diagnose Marla and to find causes and
prospective treatments for her disorder. Marla is a 42 year old Hispanic female who comes to
the mental health clinic complaining of having trouble sleeping, feeling jumpy all the time, and
experiencing an inability to concentrate. (Joan Rachmel, syllabus description of final assignment)
These symptoms are causing problems for her at work where she is an accountant. Upon first
look at her case a few different disorders come to mind like ADHD, PTSD, and depression with
mania. The clinical interview process consisted of not only observing Marla while she was in the ...

currently and how it was going if she was. Marla stated that she was recently divorced and had
just now started dating again which was going alright. With knowing she had been married
before I asked her a little about the circumstances of the divorce and she stated that her husband
thought she was cheating on her because she was always away from the house and he felt their
lives were in two different places. She also informed me that she has a son who is 8 years old
which was my next question. I asked her if the father was active in his life or if she was raising
him more on her own. She told me that the father was very active in the sons life and gets him
more than the visitation schedule says which is a great relief to her. I then started to break into
her medical history by asking her when she saw a doctor last, if they performed a physical, what
the results were if they did, if she was taking medication currently, and if she had even taken any
medication for depression, anxiety, or any other form of mental illness in the past. Marla stated that
she saw a doctor about 8 months prior and that they thought she was just under extreme stress from
the new job and they put her on Zanax for her nerves thinking that would help her to calm down.

Have Smartphones Destroyed A Generation By Jean M Twenge
Jean M. Twenge despises smartphones! That is the initial reaction to the title of her article Have
Smartphones Destroyed A generation? . This will be an analysis of the effectiveness of the article
written by Jean M. Twenge about the effects of smartphone usage on younger generations. With
modern reliance growing more heavily on smartphones and younger generations being born with
these devices around them, Twenge has gathered information pertaining to this new generational
adaption that began to show signs around 2012. Around 2012, I noticed abrupt shifts in teen

As Twenge presents this information it is made clear why she has taken on this responsibility of
analyzing these trends and social behaviors. Despite all the formal training and experience in this
field, Twenge herself is a part of the target audience. Twenge is a mother of three who states they re
not yet old enough to display the traits of IGen teens, but I have already witnessed firsthand just
how ingrained new media are in their young lives. Throughout the article she provides both
personal and statistical information to enhance her argument and support her findings. These Range
from multiple surveys conducted throughout the country, including one that had been performed on
undergraduates at San Diego State University. An interview with a teen girl from Texas had also
been included into the work, avoiding a bombardment of the reader with evidence and numerical
data. By providing this break from purely logos argumentation she allows the reader to build an
emotional connection with the work; as well as, create a bridge between author and reader. The
way she presents the statistical information in her article is by providing the reader with multiple
surveys and studies that show this new generational data of how teens are becoming less socially

Wine Market has some features that customize the overall food market. In this market, competition
between different types of products plays an important role, outlining the size of supply and
demand. The substitution effect plays an important role in the competition between alcoholic and
nonalcoholic drinks, as an essential element of this market.

Death Penalty Is A Scary Thought
Death is a scary thought. Capital punishment, or death penalty, as we all know is the execution of
mass murderers. It is a controversial issue, but is it necessary? Capital punishment all started when
the colonists brought it to America from England (Source 5). At that time it was the normal thing,
and they mainly executed people by firing squad or hangings. In 1972 the supreme ruled that death
penalty violated guarantees of due process, equal protection and the prohibition of cruel punishment
(source3). Although the Supreme Court declared it unconstitutional, each state that felt it was
necessary mad new legislation reintroducing capital punishment(Source 3). All of this happening
in the 1970 s and 80 s, and it is still in play today. This just shows that the death penalty can live
through a lot and will always be around. No matter how many people want it gone each and every
state has their own law and each would have to repeal them. The death penalty seems like a
ludicrous thing to do, but it is a necessary punishment for some.
Death penalty is not what people think. It rarely happens in fact only 1359 executions have been
carried out since 1977. There are five main types of executions that have been used since then.
These are: lethal injection, electrocutions, lethal gases, hangings, and firing squads. Most support
lethal injection as their main execution method. With 1184 it is the main death sentence method.
The next largest is electrocutions with 158 deaths. These

Fatalism In The Radical Durkheim And C. W. Mills
This is evident in Frank Pearce s chapter Fatalism in The Radical Durkheim and C. W. Mills
chapter The Promise in The Sociological Imagination as both men place great emphasis on the
fact that our awareness of our everyday lives affect how we behave and react to daily stressors.
However, Pearce s Durkheimianism exceeds what Mill s calls the sociological imagination by
demonstrating that all walks of life suffer no matter their employment or social ranking, but in very
different ways. Additionally, Pearce s explanation on fatalism furthers this point by insisting that
our personal experiences are predetermined due to the greater society in which we live in; thus, the
outcome becomes unavoidable (Pearce 2013:126). For this reason, I contend

Symptoms And Treatment Of Cardiac Surgery
When a patient is seen for his or her routine dental examination, these are some of the major points
involved. First: The patient is asked to fill out a recent medical questionnaire. In most cases this is
a verbal confirmation, where the patient is asked about recent health concerns, changes or new
medications. The oral area cannot be separated from the general health of a patient. A recent heart
problem should be addressed, as there could be dental / general health ramifications. For example,
cardiac surgerymay involve premedication with antibiotics, as a thorough dental cleaning could
cause oral bacteria to enter the circulatory system. This can cause potentially serious problems in
areas where recent scar tissue has formed. As well... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She / he can often detect cavities through the manual act of scaling. When the dentist comes for
the exam phase, the hygienist will be able to supplement this exam with observations that he/she
has seen. This team work helps a patient achieve the greatest of care. The dentist will physically
touch each tooth with a sharp instrument called an explorer This can show if an area of concern
is in fact decay or just a stain. An interesting addition to the dental exam is a laser instrument that
can detect decay. One model is a Diagnodent. It emits a low power laser beam which is directed,
from close distance, to the tooth surface. Some of the light reflects back and is read by the
instrument. The nature of the reflected light will signify a possible decay. This has been an
excellent way of detecting decay before it gets larger.
The dentist will also do, what is termed,a soft tissue exam. The tongue, cheeks, palate, upper
throat, and gum tissues are examined for any problems. Of special concern are smokers, who do
have a tendency to have more intra oral cancers. As well the neck from the collar bone to the chin
is examined for any hard lesions. The dentist is looking for cysts, signs of infection and cancers.
The gums are given a thorough exam both visually and with an instrument called a probe, which is
demarcated in millimeters. A normal gum pocket, the area around the teeth, is 3 mm. In gum
disease some pockets can range to 10 mm. In such severe cases the patient is

WRACK TECHNIQUES
Note book is a mixture of fact, fiction and speculation.
Your task as reader is to discover the truth.
Bradley makes use of historical incidents and real people. He also draws inspiration from other
texts. This is called intertextuality. For example he draws on Conrad s book Heart of Darkness to
explore the darkness in man s heart. His character Kurt parallels Conrad s Kurtz.
He also quotes from Ondaatje p.37 to develop his idea about maps whose portraits have nothing to
do with surface. This coupled with his narrative about the explorers in the Age of Colonialism

We need to decide what is true and accurate. His monologues are reflective narratives and the
events took place at least 50 years ago. How true would be the memory of a drug addict?? We also
have to rely on his version of events.
Both share similarities in they are emotionally damaged (Tania and Veronica) so the reader
discovers and speculates about the nature of relationships.
The second story is David s quest for both the ship and for some contentment in his personal life.
His story is revealed by 3rd person narration .David is tormented by his wife s death and is
struggling to find love and friendship with Claire. .
The description of their relationship draws on the language of navigation and discovery. She is
seen as undiscovered country p.32 and David is a battered vessel . The narrator suggests there is no
map for love Trust in mas is like trust in love little is what it seems.
Both stories suggest on a personal level that the mind is uncharted and difficult to understand. We
see Claire working at self discovery. David too has to navigate through his emotions; his grief to
find some middle ground with Claire.
The third story is about the age of discovery. This involves comments about maps along with
examples some true some not of explorers. All serve to suggest science is not exact and the
process of discovery holds many dangers. The historical narrative uses a factual and formal

Blockbuster is heading in a good direction to see the success they lost several years ago. The
strengths of Blockbuster have improved drastically in the past year alone. The company has
paid all their debt by being bought by Dish. The new Blockbuster offers a competitive option to
renting movies and games. They not only offer one rental at a time, but for a little extra you can
have two or three at a time. If you do not want to wait on the short delivery time, you can simply
locate a store and exchange it there. Those alone surpass other providers but for Dish subscribers
you can have Blockbuster movies streamed right off your television or device. For people that are
on the fence about switching satellite providers, the offer of providing Blockbusters streaming
video will give them a push for sure. Having Dish own Blockbuster is a financial stability because
they are splitting the responsibility in whichever direction they end up going in the future. There
are many internal weaknesses with Blockbuster, definitely more than what should be. The first and
the biggest weakness are the poor marketing skills. You never see advertisements anywhere
promoting the new and successful Blockbuster and that is causing a loss in potential customers.
Along with this weakness is the lack of promoting the new image. With the recent bankruptcy, not a

is the glucagon tolerance test. There were some issues with the glucagon tolerance test
according to Fernandes (1969). This test had some issues in diagnosing liver disease because it
showed that some patients had high rise in blood glucose levels. This was an issue because
many normal and healthy children have high levels of blood glucose and since some of the
patients they were testing were children, the results were inconclusive and could not necessarily
determine if that patient had any liver glycogen diseases. So it was decided that this test only
gave good results if it was used on older patients to whom they could dictate if their blood
glucose levels were too high compared to a healthy adult, which would then determine if they had
liver glycogen disease. Also this test could be performed after the patient performed a long fast, in
order to lower their blood glucose levels. This fast is commonly eight

According to Rothwell, Resistance is a covert form of communicating noncompliance, and it is
often duplicitous and manipulative...when faced with a dominant individual (supervisor, parent, or
group leader), it is often safer to employ indirect means of noncompliance than direct confrontation
or open defiance (326). In the Milgram experiment, there was an authoritative figure giving
commands to the participants. Therefore, in order to resist, using indirect means of noncompliance
would be a more useful tactic. In addition, there are many different resistance techniques and out
of all of them I believe purposeful procrastination would have been the most suitable. Participants
could have procrastinated shocking their victims indefinitely, which would be a useful and subtle
means of defiance. Another reason this could prove useful is because some of the participants
could feel too intimidated by the authoritative figure. Lastly, everyone is different and we all have

How Did Artemis Influence Culture
Artemis: An Influence on Culture
You hear the night wind blowing and see the bright shine of the full moon. Walking carefully with
your bow and arrows in hand, you creep up with the rest of the hunters. Drawing your bow, the
wolves get ready to attack, waiting for your signal. Artemis is the goddess of the moon, prophecy,
hunters, virginity, and healing. She leads her pack of immortal hunters, known as the Hunters of
Artemis. The hunters would travel with Artemis through the woods, protecting wild life and
hunting. Through this they helped keep balance like hunters today do. Greek gods and goddesses
have greatly influenced our culture, especially Artemis.

Arthur M. Schlesinger says that Science and technology revolutionize our lives, but memory,
tradition, and myth frame our response. ( Mythology Quotes ) This quote is saying that we use
science and technology to make our lives better, but what we know effects how we accept us. I
think this is backing up the idea that mythology has a great influence on modern culture. We see
how Artemis especially influences culture through her history, allies, enemies, special abilities,
and ties to culture. So, let s go back to our story. You draw your bow, and, shoot. You make your
target, a huge monster. You keep loosing your arrows until it drops dead. You and your hunters
go to celebrate the victory. We see through the Greek myths that tension can be caused by
individual differences. This is not only true for the Greek myths, but it applies to modern life, to
our society that we live in. In the myths we saw that when the tension rose from the individual
differences they would fight, and the people with individual differences would become enemies.
These stories can be fun to read, but we need to take from them that we can t just fight people
when the tension rises from differences. We need to settle our differences, and not become
enemies with people. This doesn t mean we have to be best friends with these people, but they
should become our enemies, we need to love everyone, even if they are different from

Caribbean Palm Resort has been struggling for developing the right pricing strategy in order to

The resort keeps changing its price policy frequently and it confuses the customers and it is
unreliable.
Towel Hut * Too much responsibility: It is no longer a towel hut. It covers not only distributing and
collecting towels but also explaining policy, taking reservations and managing palapas and
customers complaints and so on.
Recommended Solutions and Justification * Increasing the supply: The resort could provide
more palapas so that more quests can have opportunity to enjoy it. However I assume that there
could be a limitation of installing palapas by government (such as not to damage the nature).
There is no information regarding government s permission. If so, they should offer alternatives
for customers. The alternatives could be canopies or beach umbrellas. However, these should be
provided free. * Abandoning the first come, first served system: All palapas should be rented so
that some customers who choose not to pay for palapas would not feel frustrated or slighted and
it is fairer for every customer to pay for them and no one needs to line up and waste time. *
Consistent and reliable pricing strategy: The Price system should be an hourly basis not daily. For
instance, the resort charges $8 / hour for the use of a palapa. The resort needs to optimize their
scarce resource wisely. * Allocating towel hut s responsibility: The resort should

What It Means To Be An American Citizen Essay
What does it mean to be an American citizen? This is a hard question for me to answer because
while I am proud to be a part of a country where I have the right to vote and get an education just
like any other person, I am also ashamed to be a part of a country that was built on the racial
enslavement and then discrimination of black people for 200 years. So for me, it is both a
blessing and a curse to be an American citizen. I don t believe the whole America the great
propaganda or the most perfect nation in the world notion either. But I do believe that as a black

She says, In the transformation of silence into language and action, it is vitally necessary for
each one of us to establish or examine her function in that transformation and to recognize her
role as vital within that transformation . She wrote this essay while reflecting upon her
mortality (after being diagnosed with cancer), and questioning why she feared speaking out. By
speaking up, we are able to connect with others who have a similar vision for the world, and
work with them, despite differences we may have. Lorde is arguing that we must share and
speak about what we believe in, even if we are afraid to do so. When we remain silent on issues,
we are still living in fear and these silences only hurt us. Even though we may fear pain and
judgement by speaking out, we will suffer those same things by remaining silent. We must support
and uplift the voices of all marginalized people and seek connection within these stories. Out of all
of the tapes on this mixtape, this one speaks to me the most on citizenship. This talks about

The Importance Of Vital Signs Of Essential Signs Essay
The Importance of Vital Signs: Introduction Vital signs are common exams performed by medical
professionals that assess the essential functions of the human body. These exams are imperative in a
clinical setting as they help to determine the overall health of a patient. During a routine vital sign
examination, hospital personnel such as nurses or certified nursing assistants must evaluate the
patient s body temperature, pulserate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure in order to obtain an
adequate assessment of the patient. Typically, radiographers are not often required to collect their
patients vital signs. However, it is crucial for a radiographer to know how to acquire a patient s
vital signs in case of an emergency situation.
The Importance of Vital Signs: Body TemperatureBody temperature is a vital sign that determines
the body s ability to produce and eliminate heat. According to the article, Vital Signs (Body

The Importance Of Roosevelt s New Deal Programs
As the roaring twenties came to a screeching halt, many looked to Hoover the current president at
the time, for answers. However, he had none, instead his excuse was it was just a bad economic
phase. Unfortunately he was horribly wrong, but this paved the way for Roosevelt s New Deal
policies to reshape and pump new life into America in a time where many needed inspiration and a
drive to energize them. The New Dealprovided many programs designed to provide consistent
relief, recovery, and reform, some of these programs include the FDIC, TVA, CCC, FDC, and
many more, and many of the agencies created through the New Deal still exist today, a testament to
the positive and revolutionary ideas the New Deal proposed. Furthermore, many of

Why do so many people use steroids when there are so many health risks and side effects? Do
people take steroids because they are not aware of all the risks? Not likely, steroids have been

The Brown Wasps Loren Eiseley Summary
There is no better phrase to describe a fond memory than an elusive dream . Something, that no
matter how much you struggle for can never be relived. It sits on the dual pillars of place and
time, you may conquer one but the other will always be there, to cause despair. This was the
common struggle experienced and expressed in The Brown Wasps and Once more at the lake .
Throughout his essay, Loren Eiseley describes different scenarios that he witnessed. All of
which have a central theme of change, not in times, but in the real, physical world. He talks
about mice losing their little dream of living in a burrow made in common earth, a world of
seedpods and quiet, of green sheltering leaves in the dim light among the weed stems and how
they are coldly denied even the simplest of yearnings. Later, he describes how he witnessed the
figurative great river at an El in Philadelphia stop. The river that was the lifeline of hundreds,
maybe thousands of pigeons. How the pigeons kept returning lesser and... Show more content on

the only thing that changed was the man. That it is his son who sneaks out in the morning to the
sweet outdoors now, who explores the streams, who gazes with childish awe at the thunderstorms,
who runs out in joy and relief to go swimming in the rain. And that it is time to move on and
realise that he can t relive those moments as the figurative right to do so, has moved on to the next
generation. That in this moment he can only be the father, no longer the son. The Brown Wasps
has the writer experiencing sorrow and despair due to a place, that is primary to his being, being
non existent and thus, the essay focuses more on the effects of time on the world around the man,

Abstract
The technology in nineteenth century is referred to the practical arts used to create physical
products everything from wagon to steam engine. But in twentieth century the word was expanded
to include everything involved in satisfying human material wants. In this we can see the concepts
and significance of the technology, how the technology emerged, what is the internal process of
technology, and classification of technology. For this term project I would like to talk about the file
sharing technology. There are many advantages of the file sharing technology, when compare to the

Out of many technologies I would like to choose File Sharing Technology which is a product of
engineering science to study the natural world. File sharing has been an element of centralized
server and multi client PC frameworks for a long time. With the appearance of the Internet, a
document exchange framework called the File Transfer Protocol (FTP) has turn out to be
broadly utilized. FTP can be utilized to get to (peruse and potentially keep in touch with) records
shared among a specific arrangement of clients with a watchword to get entrance to documents
shared from a FTP server site. Numerous FTP destinations offer open record sharing or possibly
the capacity to view or duplicate documents by downloading them, utilizing an open watchword
(which happens to be mysterious ). Most Web webpage designers use FTP to transfer new or
changed Web documents to a Web server, and for sure the World Wide Web itself can be
considered as extensive scale record partaking in which asked for pages or records are continually
being downloaded or replicated down to the Web client.
However, file sharing implies a system in which client keep in touch with and in additional read
files or in which clients are dispensed some measures of space for individual records on a typical
server, offering access to different client as they see fit. The recent sort of record sharing is basic in
schools and colleges. File sharing can be

Air Conditioning Changes
In 1900 there was very little people could do during a hot spell except grumble about the weather
or if they could afford it go away to the mountains or the seashore. Today air conditioning has
changed this. With air conditioning has changed this. With air conditioning you can be comfortable
anywhere indoors on even the hottest, stickiest day of the year. You will almost certainly find air
conditioning in the movie theaters you attend, in many of the stores where your family shops, and
in the restaurants where you eat. It may even be in your own home.
What is air conditioning?
You know that air conditioning makes you feel cool. But air conditioning is more than just cooling.
It means keeping the temperature and humidity (moisture content) ... Show more content on

Otherwise people would have to turn their units off and on continually as the temperature become
too cold or hot. A steady temperature regulating device called thermostat. The thermostat is set at
desired temperature. It then switches the cooling unit on and off as needed.
The air conditioning systems of the future may work by what is known as thermoelectric. A
thermoelectric unit is very small and very quiet. It is made up of tiny couples, each couple
consisting of a pair of semiconductors and connected in parallel current. These couples produce
cooling at one end and heating at other when direct flows through them. This is called Peatier effect.
When the current is reversed, the cooling and heating effects also reverse. When a way is found to
produce this tiny thermoelectric unit cheaply, they may cool and heat your whole house.

Hamlet And The Basic Human Need For Truth
Hamlet and the Basic Human Need for Truth Marcus Aurelius is quoted as saying, Everything we
hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth. This idea is
examined in William Shakespeare s Hamlet, a play full of warmly delivered lies and completely
intentional deceit. Hamlethimself shows how a life full of lies and deceit breeds a desire for
something real. In the beginning of the play, authenticity is introduced as a rare trait and the Ghost
reveals treachery to Hamlet setting him on a path that leads to his demise. Hamlet s actions are
motivated by a search for something real and true in both his life and himself and in this search he
comments on the nature of truth itself.
Within Shakespeare s Hamlet resides a strong theme of illusion and reality shown in the attention
that is drawn to the seeming and being within the characters. The play itself is about acting because
not only are actors required to act out the parts that are written, but also the characters themselves
are acting. They put on a facade just as an actor assumes a role on the stage (Bloom 11).
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern seem to be concerned friends. Instead, they are simply acting as
such because they are charged by the king to find the origin of Hamlet s peculiar behavior.
Gertrude seems to be the dutiful queen that married Claudius for the benefit of the kingdom itself
while she has simply failed to grieve her husband, dishonored his memory by marring so soon after

Freedom And Responsibility In Lord Of The Flies By William...
Most people do not really want freedom, because freedom involves responsibility, and most
people are frightened of responsibility. Once said Sigmund Freud the father of psychology.
People have been blessed with freedoms and generally say that they want to be more free , but
what they don t understand is that freedom is responsibility. Being free means that the individual
is responsible for his or her future and most people are scared of that. However, both freedom and
responsibility are often in conflict, they can contradict each other when viewing certain topics.
Even though a comparison of freedom and responsibility reveals several similarities there are also
a considerable number of differences when parenting a child, exercising free speech,... Show more

When it comes to parenting, parents should be responsible with how they raise their child. It is
important for the parents to teach their child age appropriate skills so the kid can act
independently. More importantly, it is their job to provide a safe environment for their kids to
foster their child s well being. In the story Lord of the flies by author William Golding, the
author shares his thoughts in a unique way by telling a story where children got stuck on an
island having the freedom to do anything they like. The children lost their sense morality and
became savages; the story shows how children can be if left uncared for. The freedom of free
speech can be abused when people are not responsible for their actions. Individuals have the
right to say what they want but in limits that abide the countries laws, and to avoid disrespecting
other people. Furthermore, spreading hate speech against certain groups is not considered free
speech anymore, it is just slander. Additionally, people have to watch how far they stretch the
term free speech and be responsible with it. Most of the choices people make affect themselves
so they should be responsible for what choices they make. For example, if an employee wakes
up one morning and decides to not go to work this morning. He should be responsible for what
comes next, either calling in sick or even getting fired from work. To be responsible for our
choices is dealing with what happens after making a wrong decision or taking in the credit or the
approval after doing a good

order. Therefore, under the leadership of the city manager, Carlsbad began the reengineering
process, which included revising the city s mission and values statements, applying new information

areas (MSAs). Cummings and Worley indicated that the internal and external stakeholders viewed
the changes positively and believed that they had improved customer focus and employee

Discrimination against Mexican Americans has always been a grave issue in the United States.
The short play Los Vendidos written by Luis Valdez sheds light upon the horrid state of racism in
our nation. The play centers around the Secretary s visit to Honest Sancho s shop and depicts
outrageous images of Mexican Americans as mere objects. Through this play, Valdez attempts to
delineate the discrimination and prejudices against his people. To deliver his perspective, he
employs a principle known as actos which he defines actos as to [i]nspire the audience to social

Disgust is properly the only word to depict their conversation. Hence, the author successfully

Secretary are interesting characters. However, Valdez cleverly embeds significant details in the
models to illuminate specific points about social problems . The Farmworker is the first model .
According to the script, he wears 4 ply Goodyear huaraches and sleeps in farm labor camps ... old
barns, old cars, riverbanks ... [or] in the field (43). The Farmworker represents Mexican migrant
workers. From this character, Valdez shows the horrid living conditions of migrant workers. Hence,
the author attempts to raise the issue to the audience and the general population so that they are
aware of the inhumane treatment toward migrant workers. Furthermore, despite being a
hardworking person, the Farmworker is rejected because he does not speak English. Thus, Johnny
Pachuco is brought to sale. For Johnny, an urban model (44), is bilingual. Nevertheless, he is a
thug. As Honest Sancho introduces, he knife fights (44) and he steals (46). Valdez presents this
young man based on a typical stereotype of Mexican young males which is that they are usually in
criminal gangs. With this character, Valdez implies his desire to bring the drug problem and
criminal problems within the Mexican communities to light. The third model is the Revolucionario,

Read Wordsworth s and Shelley s poems To a Skylark and Hughes poem
Skylarks. Discuss the similarities and differences in the poets presentation of, and attitude to, the
birds.
There are a number of similarities and differences in Wordsworth s,
Shelley s and Hughes presentation of, and attitude to the birds through form, diction and imagery.
The first line in Wordsworth s poem is about an Ethereal minstrel! and a pilgrim of the sky! . This
tells of a medieval singer who roams with a purpose. Wordsworth uses these to apostrophise the
lark. When these lines are combined with others throughout the poem it becomes apparent that the
lark is used as a metaphoric visual aid. This is shown with the apparent dichotomy between ... Show

The words flood and
pour in the poem normally are associated with water, thus showing how the lark s music flows and
how much of it there is.
Wordsworth s poem is therefore presented as an apostrophe to a skylark that is quite rhythmic due
to it being largely iambic pentameter. It is also written in a very traditional form with a strict
rhythm and rhyme structure that suggests that it is pre 20th century. This is confirmed by the
moral, philosophical view of lark, as it is shown to be a metaphor and moral for human life.
As well as sharing the same title ( To a Skylark ), Percy Bysshe
Shelley s poem also shares a similar way of presenting the lark.
Composed five years before Wordsworth s poem, this poem is also written in a very traditional
form with much archaic diction. It has a maintained stanza form throughout and is as, if not more,
archaic shown by quotations such as, hail to thee and thou . In the second stanza, although there is
no reference to a bird, the language used suggests an immense scale similar to that used in
Wordsworth s presentation of the lark s flood of harmony or song. Quotations such as, Higher still
and higher and springest , show this similarity.
Similar to Wordsworth s poem, Shelley begins with exclamation with,
Hail to thee, blithe spirit! . Again although much more subtle and

Melinda was only fourteen when she was raped, which is something no human should ever have
to go through at such a young age. It took Melinda almost a full year before she told someone
about the sexual assault and once she did, nobody believed her. Hester is a strong character
because she was looked down upon by the town, while Melinda is stronger because she was alone,
and a shy teen starting high school. Melinda was completely alone in her situation because nobody
knew what happened to her at the party. She refused to speak to anyone and did not let anyone

Essay on Living by Different Standards
Living by Different Standards
Who do these athletes think they are? Do they think they can kill, rape, rob, assault, steel, and use
drugs simply because they make millions of dollars? And do they think they can get away with
these things? Why are today s sports stars nothing more than thugs and criminals?
QUIT ACTING SO HIGH AND MIGHTY, SO SELF RIGHTEOUS
.
And no I m not talking to those over paid, drug addicted, criminally inclined athletes. I m talking to
the public ? the critics and the so called fans of college and professional sports. The people that
apparently have never done anything wrong in their entire lives. The people that throw the first
stone without guilt, like they re skipping it across some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People believe that sports have been taken over by criminals, as though college and professional
teams recruit out of the prison yards instead of the schoolyards. And the NFL, or as the clever
among us would say ? the National Felons League (how witty!), has taken the brunt of public
criticism.
But there is no truth in the widely held belief that sport and crime go hand in hand. Little
research and few studies have actually been done on the prevalence of crime among athletes or
the levels of crime in sport compared to the rest of society, but the public obviously doesn t need
studies to form an opinion (Coakley, 157). When you open a daily newspaper and have to wade
threw the mucky headlines of rape and battery just to get to a box score, it s no wonder people
think that all athletes are criminals. Simply put, athletes live by different standards then everyone
else. And it s unfair. They re in the spotlight and for some reason this means they should do no
wrong even though they re far from perfect just like everyone else. But being imperfect seems to be
unacceptable for an athlete.
This idea is partly the media s fault because they shine the lights on the athletes and in turn blind the
public from the truth. As Michael Irving once said, You guys write this and say this about players,
and criticize us, but half the time your information is

Facebook Case Analysis
Facebook (FB) has been dominating the social network industry since its birth in 2004. It was one
of the first social platforms that aimed to connect people all over the world together. FB has been
successful in establishing its competitive advantage relying in its network effect and its ability to
catch up with the competition.
As depicted on Figure II, FB has strength points that include: its long history and its access to
global markets over a short period of time, that enabled it to lock in a wide base of users that find
it too costly to switch to other networks that don t provide a strong motivation for switching
especially that FB has a strong ability for imitation and integration that led to a growing advertising
revenue from different advertisers that find FB to be a great source of data that they can use for
segmentation and targeting. FB weakness points are: its high dependency on advertising revenue,
its high dependency on games applications revenue and concentration of ownership in the hands
of its founder, Mr. Zuckerberg, that seems to be so innovative and successful. However, it is a
reason why long term investors may worry because there is no guarantee of the continuous of the
long term success given a single control over a public company. On the external trend, FB has an
opportunity to increase its base of mobile users due to the increase of people logging in on the go
in comparison to computer users. FB has an opportunity to expand using social commerce by

Children s Own Personal Interests
Furthermore, they are able to start exploring their own personal interests, and learn decision
making, when being exposed to a variety of resources. This, in turn, gives the adult great insight
into the child s developing personality, learning their likes, dislikes and other personal interests.
Story telling and other forms of dramatic play not only help develop a child s social skills, but also
their emotional ones. It is common for young children to often act out circumstances that they may
have witnessed in real life or perhaps on television. By role playing these situations, they are able to

Colourful Cornflour Mark Making
The cornflour, water mixture allows infants to explore new and interesting textures, which may be
out of their comfort zone. It also permits the young child to explore their creative side, and make
their thinking visible. Having the cornflour on a large tray at a level close to the ground, allows the
infant to take full advantage of the activity, and promotes their communication with other peers, as
they are able to all gather round the tray together. The activity further helps develop confidence in
the child, as they become more self assured with the marks they are making in the mixture. This
helps support the development of mathematics and language. Cornflour
Cornflour would be more effective for this activity, because once added to water, creates a strange

german economy 2004-2011
Assessment: Germany 2011 Germany from 2004 until 2011, showed a positive trend with the
GDP per capita. From $29,684.33 in 2004, Germany boosted their GDP per capita up to
$39,187.01 in 2011, which is approximately a 50% increase. This shows that Germany managed
to put its economy in an upward trend, although the Eurozone was struggling with its economic
growth, particularly during 2009 and 2010. Similarly, GNI per capita of Germany in 2004 was
$29,938.63, yet by 2011, the GNI per capita was $39,943.53. This again shows a positive trend
overall, which shows that Germany has been growing gradually as years passed with its economy.

Moreover, the fact that the government kept its stability of tax revenue even during 2009 and 2010
when Eurozone crisis occurred, shows that Germany s economic health was still relatively good
even when crisis occurred around Europe. We assume that the tax revenue in 2011 was about 37%,
seeing the overall trend of tax revenue. As mentioned before, this means that Germany has had a
stable economic health throughout the 7 years, considering the fact that the tax revenue has not
gone up or down by a great number. Current account balance of payments was positive value
throughout the 7 years, showing that the amount of exports from Germany exceeded the amount of
imports. That shows that country is making profit overall, by exporting and importing with other
countries, yet exporting great amount, enough to keep the country earning profits. Moreover, the
fact that the current account balance of payments went up from 4.6% to 5.7% shows that the
country managed to widen the difference between the amount of exports and imports even more, to
bring more profit into Germany. Germany did a fine job in keeping the unemployment rate low. In
fact, Germany managed to cut the unemployment rate by almost a half, from 10.5% in 2004, to
5.9% in 2011. This means that there are more jobs available in Germany now than in 2004.
According to the circular flow of income, this means that there is more money going around,

The Rational And Self Interested Agent Used As A Model Of...
Meet Homo economicus, the perfectly rational and self interested agent used as a model of human
behaviour in neoclassical economics. Lacking the emotion and cognitive biases that typically cloud
optimal decision making, Homo economicus is able to consistently pursue self interest without any
regard for the welfare of others. The troubling observation here is that economists have been
modelling human behaviour in a manner effectively consistent with psychopathy. The classic, albeit
Hollywood inspired psychopath intelligent, capable of self control, driven to succeed and dominate
others is disturbingly similar to our description of Homo economicus. Indeed, using a variety of
anonymous, one shot cooperation games, Yamagishi et al. (2014)... Show more content on

This is problematic, and invites the following questions: 1) How to justify modeling economic
outcomes in a manner not accurately reflecting most real life decision making, and 2) How to
arrive at an economic, or even evolutionary explanation for our (nearly) global violations in utility
maximization. I address these points in brief below.
Economists have long known people aren t the tidy, rational, utility maximizing non cooperators
that they re modeled as in neoclassical economics. For this reason, the early behavioral economic
literature was concerned with modifying existing models to better reflect psychological factors (e.g.
Kahneman Tversky, 1979). Most people, for example, do not follow Bayesian statistics in situations
under risk, and so prospect theory serves as a useful addition when modelling loss aversion. Thus
the assumptions underlying Homo economicus can be interpreted as a pragmatic choice that allows
economists to make simplifying approximations appropriate for the problem under review. This
notion, that economists are conscious of the empirical limitations of their models, suggests that
Homo economicus can and should serve only as a preliminary step towards more sophisticated
representations of real life decision making. If it s understood that the assumptions underlying the
models are at best useful approximations, then perhaps the issue is with the breadth of application
rather than the models themselves.
Though why is it that we don t

Gung Ho Sparknotes
Gung Ho, by Ken Blanchard and Sheldon Bowles was a wonderful book that discussed many
important factors involved in making a company truly successful. It had a good storyline to help
to tell the story of Gung Ho. When I first picked up the book to read it I really had no idea what
to expect to learn from the book. The points that were made in this book were very simple and
common sense principles. I say that these principles are simple, but many companies do not think
of these little things when running a large business. They try to go by the book and get too caught
up in sticking to their rules and regulations. Sometimes you just have to use a little common sense
when running a business.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I felt like I was making a worthwhile difference to the members by providing them with good

It is amazing what you can do as a team when you all have a shared goal in mind. The owner set
the goals for us to go by, but was always willing to listen to ideas from his employees. This
allowed everyone to feel as if they were having a hand in making the Grille a better place. The
spirit of the squirrel reminds me of the people I worked with and how they all pulled together to
help. As Andy Longclaw said in the book, worthwhile doesn t mean more than important, it just
covers more territory than important . All of the Grille workers knew the work they did was
important, and that led to a common goal between all of us. We used values to guide all of our
work and didn t take shortcuts because we had values. We knew that every little thing was
worthwhile and part of a larger plan. In the book, Andy says that everyone should work toward a
shared goal and that goals are marker posts you drive into the future landscape between where
you are and where you want to be. We all decided to make a goal of making the Grille the best it
had been in years and to keep it under one owner for more than two years. Andy also reported
about there being two types of goals. One is result goals set out where we want to be. The other is
value goals set out the impact we want to make on the lives of team members, customers, and the
community.

A Report On Additive Manufacturing
Additive Manufacturing(AM) is a manufacturing technology that creates objects rapidly with the
help of Computer Aided Design (CAD) files. Different from traditional manufacturing method,
additive manufactured models are usually stacked out by a serial of planer slices which are
produced by processing wanted CAD designs with mathematical code.
Stereolithography, commonly known as SLA, is one of the most applied forms of AM technology.
Stereolithography researches were first appeared in 1970s, then in 1986 Chuck Hull patterned a
technique capable of stacking planer cross sectional geometries, in the direction of bottom to top,
into a complete physical model. The unique material in Hull s pattern was ultraviolet sensitive
photopolymer. This technology was named and coined as the term Stereolithography . In the same
year, Hull also founded 3D system Inc., currently known as the first and biggest 3D printing
enterprise.
After decades of development, stereolithography now can be described as an Additive
Manufacturing process that hardening or curing photopolymer resin layer by layer into actual
objects. The light source, usually using ultraviolet light, provides essential energy for stimulating
and maintaining photo polymerization reaction in which smaller molecules bond and form cross
linking polymer molecular chains. The energy source of photo polymerization reaction can be a
laser beam or mask projection patterns. The laser beam moving trajectories or mask projection

The Greeks and The Illiad
The Iliad was a masterpiece of a work, which entertained and gave a description of how the
Greeks lived out their lives in battle and at peace. The Iliad, by Homer, is an epic classic set in
Ancient Greece. The story ,in its own, contained the use of epic characteristics, which reveal
further characteristics of the Greeks. A large influence on the book, was the Greek s religious and
mythological stance along with their strengths and weaknesses that were also displayed. The
Greeks, with both their strengths and weaknesses, reveal the overall character in Homer s tale..

Many Greeks have such matter in them, as like Achilles in the description, who was no mere mortal
among his people. Zeus once predicted, Achilles is a man of great power and thought, he will

was to bring honor to his people. There was much use of epic characteristics in the Iliad. The Iliad
had enormous battles that were fought constantly between the two opponents. Homer writes in
description to Hektor s fighting, Hektor in the huge pride of his strength rages irresistibly, reliant
on Zeus, and gives way to no one neither god nor man... (204). The characters fighting for the
Greeks or Trojans all were eventually given some kind of supernatural ability to fight such
incredible battles. The hero of the story, Achilles, contained superhuman strength beyond that of
any other man. In description of his strength, ...and the door barred to his room took three men to

The Assassination Of Gavrilo P
The question that imposes is why Sarajevo assassination and its assassin Gavrilo Princip were so
fascinating to artists because there were assassinations before and after Princip s shot. More
significant historical figures did not have so much space in literature or art, like Princip has. There
are two reasons to it. First and foremost, his act is treated like an act of fight for freedom, therefore
his courage and willingness to die right after the assassination are enchanting, and the identification
with Gavrilo Princip is also present, attributing him characteristics of epic heroes (such examples
can be found in Serbian literature). Through such a story where the small and helpless becomes the
great and strong, and where the man does the

Space Travel And Its Impact On The Future
Commercializing Low Earth Orbit
If humans hope to undertake space travel and investigate our solar system and beyond, space
travel first have to make it affordable, relevant and interesting to the general public and the private
sector and the government have to work together. New technology has to be developed, including
more sustainable rockets, new fuel propagation methods and energy consumption techniques that
can allow for prolonged space travel. But before making plans for space travel, the costs that
come along with launching objects or humans into the final frontier of space have to be reduced
significantly. A good way to increase the public interest and to raise money for space travel is to
commercialize low earth orbit flights. Low Earth Orbit is only about 400 km above the Earth; the
International Space Station (ISS) is currently hovering in Low Earth Orbit in the thermosphere of
Earth s atmosphere (1). Some companies have started selling the idea that for a certain price one
can now travel to Low Earth Orbit and get the feeling of temporarily floating in space due to the
decreased effect of gravity. Of course it is very expensive to buy a ticket to participate in one of
these flights but commercializing the idea of flying to space and becoming an astronaut can help
fund future space endeavors. Also, we are starting to see more and more partnerships developing
between private companies interesting in space travel and the National Aeronautics and Space

Why Apostille FBI Background Check Certificate
Why Apostille an FBI Background Check Certificate?
It is not uncommon for foreign countries and associated agencies to request Apostille authentication
on certain required documentation, especially when it comes to a background check. An Apostille
is a unique form of authentication used to validate specific documentation, and it is commonly
requested by countries that are a part of the Hague Convention of 1961. Whenever an individual is
considering relocating to, working in or adopting a child from a foreign country that is a part of the
Hague expansion, it is best that they obtain an FBI background check certificate with Apostille
authentication, as it will likely be required.
There are some countries, such as Korea, that automatically require that every American have an
Apostille FBI background check certificate in order obtain a work visa, and there are no
exceptions. Failing to obtain an Apostille authenticated FBI background check will result in the
denial of a work visa. It is also important to understand that while most state offices will Apostille

Racial Discrimination In Jesus Christ Superstar
Jesus Christ Superstar painted a picture of Jesus that was similar and different from the painting
of the gospel of Mark. For instance; in Jesus Christ Superstar Jesus is portrayed as a white man,
he is aggressive, has different colored followers and is tempted sexually by Mary. Although in the
gospel of Mark, there is no indication of Jesusbeing white or black, he is more aggressive, there
are not any details of his followers being different colors, and Mary was never depicted as having a
sexual relationship with Jesus. Why were these things important to the people of the perspective
ages?
In Jesus Christ Superstar Jesus is portrayed as a white man. Is this because of the separation of
blacks and whites in the sixties and seventies? It easily could be, the characters around him were
not all white but he was indeed the almighty one as the white man. Now. this is not saying that
the maker of this film, Norman Jewison, was racist by any means, but that he was indeed trying
to make a point of the racial segregation of the time. Black people of the day were discriminated
against and for people to take Jesus in the movie seriously he needed to be white so that there was
not an outrage among the white people of the time. Comparatively, in the bible, there is no clear
description of what Jesus looked like. Based on the region they were in we can historically say that
Jesus was a darker man.
To expand on the ideas of the issue of color, in Jesus Christ Superstar, the followers of

Kodak Vs. Digital Photography
In consumer film photography, Kodak was clearly the market leading incumbent. Based on the
information provided in the case it was certainly possible for Kodak to have become the leader in
consumer digital photography if they had followed the actions described below. Kodak s top
management and its internal research team had anticipated the threat from the digital photographyto
their film photography business way back in 1980s. In fact, Kodak introduced the world s first
electronic image sensor, which is the most crucial component of the digital photography. They also
had developed numerous patented technologies in digital photography by 1989, many of which are
built into the digital cameras today. Despite this strong hold on intellectual properties in core digital
photography technologies, Kodak succumbed to new entrants in consumer digital photography due
to several intrinsic management flaws in its technology innovation and adoption strategies that
were certainly avoidable. Kodak should have leveraged its numerous patented technologies to gain
the first mover advantage in digital photography, instead of waiting until 1990s to release its first
digital camera. In the early adoption stage, Kodak should have strongly emphasized on product
development and manufacturing capabilities for a first generation, cost effective, and marketable
digital camerairrespective of its quality and appeal to their consumers. Kodak was slow to adopt
this new technological change

  • 2. Importance Of Ethics On Accounting And Business At Large The Importance of Ethics in Accounting Zachary J. Blake ACCT 302 B01 LUO 06OCT14 The Importance of Ethics in Accounting Abstract: Ethics are of the utmost concern within accounting and business at large. Ethics are the standard by which we make moral choices and decisions in our lives. In business and accounting, ethics give external users such as stakeholders, venture capitalists, and others a measure by which they can weigh financial statements and information to see if they are accurately portrayed. There are many different standards which govern the ethics of the accounting profession such as United States GAAP and European IFRS. Legislation, such as the Sarbanes Oxley Act, has been passed to ensure that these ethics are maintained. Introduction: Ethics are the backbone of the accounting profession and are a subject of utmost importance within the field of business. Ethics within the accounting profession ensure that financial information is presented truthfully. Accounting ethics deals with specific questions on whether a given business practices is acceptable or not. To this end, many standards, principles and agencies such as FASB, GAAP, IASB, IFRS, and the Securities and Exchange Commission have been formed to codify and enforce these ethics. • 3. Biblical Allusions In Golding s Lord Of The Flies As authors create their stories, they use a variety of symbols to give depth to their writing. The use of religious symbols are one of the methods Golding uses uses to attain this. In Lord of the Flies, Golding repeatedly uses biblical allusions of the island, the beast, and Simon to correspond with the boy s actions of temptation in sin, and the hope for rescue from the island. One of the largest biblical allusions in the entire novel can be found as soon as the book begins, as the island represents the Garden of Eden, with the lush groves of fruit trees directly paralleling Eden, and having long beaches and a warm pool by the shore, it is a good place to be stranded upon. This is our island, it is a good island. Until the grownups come to fetch us we ll have fun. (Chapter two) This acknowledges the fact that the island is paradise like Eden, but also that the boys are still innocent, not knowing yet the sin that plagues humanity, in the same manor as Adam and Eve, who were innocent before they ate of the forbidden fruit and had to leave Eden. The boys also had to leave the island when they lost their innocence, such as Adam and Eve had to. The parallels of Adam and Eve in the boys are also represented by the quote Stood there naked, looking at the dazzling beach and water (Chapter 1) The biblical parallel for the boys being naked on the island is Adam and Eve being naked in Eden. Golding uses religious symbols in more than setting to influence his writing. Golding also uses Christianity to develop major plot points in Lord of the Flies, such as the coming of the beast onto the island and the fear surrounding it. The events of Chapter ^ beast from air connect the beast to the falling of the Lucifer out of heaven through the events of a dead parachutist falling onto the island. As Samneric discover the dead man, they believe that he is the rumored beast the littluns have been fretting over, using phrases like It was awful, it kinda sat up There were eyes, teeth, claws These events of the beast falling out of the sky resemble Satan falling out of Heaven after betraying God , only to deceive Adam and Eve to disobey God and eat of the forbidden fruit, which would make them lose innocence and gain the ... • 8. Death Penalty Is A Scary Thought Death is a scary thought. Capital punishment, or death penalty, as we all know is the execution of mass murderers. It is a controversial issue, but is it necessary? Capital punishment all started when the colonists brought it to America from England (Source 5). At that time it was the normal thing, and they mainly executed people by firing squad or hangings. In 1972 the supreme ruled that death penalty violated guarantees of due process, equal protection and the prohibition of cruel punishment (source3). Although the Supreme Court declared it unconstitutional, each state that felt it was necessary mad new legislation reintroducing capital punishment(Source 3). All of this happening in the 1970 s and 80 s, and it is still in play today. This just shows that the death penalty can live through a lot and will always be around. No matter how many people want it gone each and every state has their own law and each would have to repeal them. The death penalty seems like a ludicrous thing to do, but it is a necessary punishment for some. Death penalty is not what people think. It rarely happens in fact only 1359 executions have been carried out since 1977. There are five main types of executions that have been used since then. These are: lethal injection, electrocutions, lethal gases, hangings, and firing squads. Most support lethal injection as their main execution method. With 1184 it is the main death sentence method. The next largest is electrocutions with 158 deaths. These ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mills chapter The Promise in The Sociological Imagination as both men place great emphasis on the fact that our awareness of our everyday lives affect how we behave and react to daily stressors. However, Pearce s Durkheimianism exceeds what Mill s calls the sociological imagination by demonstrating that all walks of life suffer no matter their employment or social ranking, but in very different ways. Additionally, Pearce s explanation on fatalism furthers this point by insisting that our personal experiences are predetermined due to the greater society in which we live in; thus, the outcome becomes unavoidable (Pearce 2013:126). First: The patient is asked to fill out a recent medical questionnaire. In most cases this is a verbal confirmation, where the patient is asked about recent health concerns, changes or new medications. The oral area cannot be separated from the general health of a patient. A recent heart problem should be addressed, as there could be dental / general health ramifications. When the dentist comes for the exam phase, the hygienist will be able to supplement this exam with observations that he/she has seen. This team work helps a patient achieve the greatest of care. The dentist will physically touch each tooth with a sharp instrument called an explorer This can show if an area of concern is in fact decay or just a stain. An interesting addition to the dental exam is a laser instrument that can detect decay. One model is a Diagnodent. It emits a low power laser beam which is directed, from close distance, to the tooth surface. Some of the light reflects back and is read by the instrument. The nature of the reflected light will signify a possible decay. This has been an excellent way of detecting decay before it gets larger. The dentist will also do, what is termed,a soft tissue exam. The tongue, cheeks, palate, upper throat, and gum tissues are examined for any problems. Of special concern are smokers, who do have a tendency to have more intra oral cancers. As well the neck from the collar bone to the chin is examined for any hard lesions. The dentist is looking for cysts, signs of infection and cancers. The gums are given a thorough exam both visually and with an instrument called a probe, which is demarcated in millimeters. A normal gum pocket, the area around the teeth, is 3 mm. Bradley makes use of historical incidents and real people. He also draws inspiration from other texts. This is called intertextuality. Blockbuster is heading in a good direction to see the success they lost several years ago. The strengths of Blockbuster have improved drastically in the past year alone. The company has paid all their debt by being bought by Dish. The new Blockbuster offers a competitive option to renting movies and games. They not only offer one rental at a time, but for a little extra you can have two or three at a time. If you do not want to wait on the short delivery time, you can simply locate a store and exchange it there. Those alone surpass other providers but for Dish subscribers you can have Blockbuster movies streamed right off your television or device. For people that are on the fence about switching satellite providers, the offer of providing Blockbusters streaming video will give them a push for sure. Having Dish own Blockbuster is a financial stability because they are splitting the responsibility in whichever direction they end up going in the future. There are many internal weaknesses with Blockbuster, definitely more than what should be. The first and the biggest weakness are the poor marketing skills. You never see advertisements anywhere promoting the new and successful Blockbuster and that is causing a loss in potential customers. Along with this weakness is the lack of promoting the new image. There are four types of Glycogen Storage Disease type III according to Lucchiari (2007). These types are known as type IIIa, type IIIb, type IIIc, and type IIId. These types are dependent on what activity they have a deficiency in. Glycogen Storage Disease type IIIa is when a patient does not have any activity of glucosidase and transferase in their liver and in their muscles. Type IIIb means that the patient does not have any activity of glucosidase and transferase in only the liver. These patients are different from type IIIa because they have activity of glucosidase and transferase in their muscles. Type IIIc is when someone only has selective loss of activity of glucosidase. This was an issue because many normal and healthy children have high levels of blood glucose and since some of the patients they were testing were children, the results were inconclusive and could not necessarily determine if that patient had any liver glycogen diseases. So it was decided that this test only gave good results if it was used on older patients to whom they could dictate if their blood glucose levels were too high compared to a healthy adult, which would then determine if they had liver glycogen disease. Also this test could be performed after the patient performed a long fast, in order to lower their blood glucose levels. This fast is commonly eight ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the Milgram experiment, there was an authoritative figure giving commands to the participants. Therefore, in order to resist, using indirect means of noncompliance would be a more useful tactic. In addition, there are many different resistance techniques and out of all of them I believe purposeful procrastination would have been the most suitable. We see how Artemis especially influences culture through her history, allies, enemies, special abilities, and ties to culture. So, let s go back to our story. You draw your bow, and, shoot. You make your target, a huge monster. You keep loosing your arrows until it drops dead. You and your hunters go to celebrate the victory. In the myths we saw that when the tension rose from the individual differences they would fight, and the people with individual differences would become enemies. These stories can be fun to read, but we need to take from them that we can t just fight people when the tension rises from differences. • 31. Hamlet And The Basic Human Need For Truth Hamlet and the Basic Human Need for Truth Marcus Aurelius is quoted as saying, Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth. This idea is examined in William Shakespeare s Hamlet, a play full of warmly delivered lies and completely intentional deceit. Hamlethimself shows how a life full of lies and deceit breeds a desire for something real. In the beginning of the play, authenticity is introduced as a rare trait and the Ghost reveals treachery to Hamlet setting him on a path that leads to his demise. Hamlet s actions are motivated by a search for something real and true in both his life and himself and in this search he comments on the nature of truth itself. Within Shakespeare s Hamlet resides a strong theme of illusion and reality shown in the attention that is drawn to the seeming and being within the characters. The play itself is about acting because not only are actors required to act out the parts that are written, but also the characters themselves are acting. They put on a facade just as an actor assumes a role on the stage (Bloom 11). Rosencrantz and Guildenstern seem to be concerned friends. Instead, they are simply acting as such because they are charged by the king to find the origin of Hamlet s peculiar behavior. Gertrude seems to be the dutiful queen that married Claudius for the benefit of the kingdom itself while she has simply failed to grieve her husband, dishonored his memory by marring so soon after ... • 32. Freedom And Responsibility In Lord Of The Flies By William... Most people do not really want freedom, because freedom involves responsibility, and most people are frightened of responsibility. Once said Sigmund Freud the father of psychology. People have been blessed with freedoms and generally say that they want to be more free , but what they don t understand is that freedom is responsibility. Being free means that the individual is responsible for his or her future and most people are scared of that. However, both freedom and responsibility are often in conflict, they can contradict each other when viewing certain topics. Even though a comparison of freedom and responsibility reveals several similarities there are also a considerable number of differences when parenting a child, exercising free speech,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When it comes to parenting, parents should be responsible with how they raise their child. It is important for the parents to teach their child age appropriate skills so the kid can act independently. More importantly, it is their job to provide a safe environment for their kids to foster their child s well being. In the story Lord of the flies by author William Golding, the author shares his thoughts in a unique way by telling a story where children got stuck on an island having the freedom to do anything they like. The children lost their sense morality and became savages; the story shows how children can be if left uncared for. The freedom of free speech can be abused when people are not responsible for their actions. Individuals have the right to say what they want but in limits that abide the countries laws, and to avoid disrespecting other people. Furthermore, spreading hate speech against certain groups is not considered free speech anymore, it is just slander. Additionally, people have to watch how far they stretch the term free speech and be responsible with it. Most of the choices people make affect themselves so they should be responsible for what choices they make. For example, if an employee wakes up one morning and decides to not go to work this morning. He should be responsible for what comes next, either calling in sick or even getting fired from work. To be responsible for our choices is dealing with what happens after making a wrong decision or taking in the credit or the approval after doing a good ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The short play Los Vendidos written by Luis Valdez sheds light upon the horrid state of racism in our nation. The play centers around the Secretary s visit to Honest Sancho s shop and depicts outrageous images of Mexican Americans as mere objects. Through this play, Valdez attempts to delineate the discrimination and prejudices against his people. According to the script, he wears 4 ply Goodyear huaraches and sleeps in farm labor camps ... old barns, old cars, riverbanks ... [or] in the field (43). The Farmworker represents Mexican migrant workers. From this character, Valdez shows the horrid living conditions of migrant workers. Furthermore, despite being a hardworking person, the Farmworker is rejected because he does not speak English. Thus, Johnny Pachuco is brought to sale. For Johnny, an urban model (44), is bilingual. Nevertheless, he is a thug. As Honest Sancho introduces, he knife fights (44) and he steals (46). Valdez presents this young man based on a typical stereotype of Mexican young males which is that they are usually in criminal gangs. Discuss the similarities and differences in the poets presentation of, and attitude to, the birds. There are a number of similarities and differences in Wordsworth s, Shelley s and Hughes presentation of, and attitude to the birds through form, diction and imagery. The first line in Wordsworth s poem is about an Ethereal minstrel! and a pilgrim of the sky! . This tells of a medieval singer who roams with a purpose. Wordsworth uses these to apostrophise the lark. When these lines are combined with others throughout the poem it becomes apparent that the lark is used as a metaphoric visual aid. This is shown with the apparent dichotomy between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The words flood and pour in the poem normally are associated with water, thus showing how the lark s music flows and how much of it there is. Wordsworth s poem is therefore presented as an apostrophe to a skylark that is quite rhythmic due to it being largely iambic pentameter. It is also written in a very traditional form with a strict rhythm and rhyme structure that suggests that it is pre 20th century. This is confirmed by the moral, philosophical view of lark, as it is shown to be a metaphor and moral for human life. As well as sharing the same title ( To a Skylark ), Percy Bysshe Shelley s poem also shares a similar way of presenting the lark. Composed five years before Wordsworth s poem, this poem is also written in a very traditional form with much archaic diction. It has a maintained stanza form throughout and is as, if not more, archaic shown by quotations such as, hail to thee and thou . In the second stanza, although there is no reference to a bird, the language used suggests an immense scale similar to that used in Wordsworth s presentation of the lark s flood of harmony or song. Quotations such as, Higher still and higher and springest , show this similarity. Similar to Wordsworth s poem, Shelley begins with exclamation with, Hail to thee, blithe spirit! . Meet Homo economicus, the perfectly rational and self interested agent used as a model of human behaviour in neoclassical economics. Lacking the emotion and cognitive biases that typically cloud optimal decision making, Homo economicus is able to consistently pursue self interest without any regard for the welfare of others. The troubling observation here is that economists have been modelling human behaviour in a manner effectively consistent with psychopathy. The classic, albeit Hollywood inspired psychopath intelligent, capable of self control, driven to succeed and dominate others is disturbingly similar to our description of Homo economicus. Indeed, using a variety of anonymous, one shot cooperation games, Yamagishi et al. (2014)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is problematic, and invites the following questions: 1) How to justify modeling economic outcomes in a manner not accurately reflecting most real life decision making, and 2) How to arrive at an economic, or even evolutionary explanation for our (nearly) global violations in utility maximization. I address these points in brief below. Economists have long known people aren t the tidy, rational, utility maximizing non cooperators that they re modeled as in neoclassical economics. For this reason, the early behavioral economic literature was concerned with modifying existing models to better reflect psychological factors (e.g. Kahneman Tversky, 1979). Most people, for example, do not follow Bayesian statistics in situations under risk, and so prospect theory serves as a useful addition when modelling loss aversion. Thus the assumptions underlying Homo economicus can be interpreted as a pragmatic choice that allows economists to make simplifying approximations appropriate for the problem under review. This notion, that economists are conscious of the empirical limitations of their models, suggests that Homo economicus can and should serve only as a preliminary step towards more sophisticated representations of real life decision making. If it s understood that the assumptions underlying the models are at best useful approximations, then perhaps the issue is with the breadth of application rather than the models themselves. Different from traditional manufacturing method, additive manufactured models are usually stacked out by a serial of planer slices which are produced by processing wanted CAD designs with mathematical code. Stereolithography, commonly known as SLA, is one of the most applied forms of AM technology. Stereolithography researches were first appeared in 1970s, then in 1986 Chuck Hull patterned a technique capable of stacking planer cross sectional geometries, in the direction of bottom to top, into a complete physical model. The unique material in Hull s pattern was ultraviolet sensitive photopolymer. This technology was named and coined as the term Stereolithography .
